The panang curry was filled with flavor and I appreciated having enough veggies and protein in one dish. It's a good standard curry. The Pad Thai came steaming hot off the stove and did not skimp on the peanuts/veggies. If you prefer a sweeter noodle dish, go for this. The staff were nice and could accommodate our large group. I love Thai food (favorite cuisine to eat) and I am so glad Yelp lead me to this Five Star Thai restaurant! All the dishes I tried were fresh, flavorful and well presented! I tried the curry puffs based on another review and they were fresh out of the fryer with a delicious filling. The sauce that comes with it is also very good! I could drink it! I tried the chicken pad Thai and the Panang chicken curry. Both had great flavor and I would order again. My husband had the spicy Thai fried rice with shrimp and beef and he enjoyed it. If we lived in Asheville this would be our Thai place. Sweet server as well! read more

What a gem! The prior reviews talked us into this place and they were not wrong! We picked up takeout on a really cold day looking to spice up. I had the chicken pad see u with medium heat. It was delicious! The texture of the noodles were exactly how it should be. The amount of sauce was perfect, I hate it dry and also soggy wet so this was great. The portion for dinner was epic! The white chicken was perfect. The broccoli was a bit on the soggy side but it didn't change how good it tasted. My husband ordered the beef Pad Kee Mow (drunken noodles) and all of the same noodle, portion and sauce credits go here. The heat on his what "hot" and it was perfect for him. We also ordered the puffy curry... ummm hello! Why haven't I had these before?? My husband was less impressed but I could eat a pile of them. The sauce was delicious and I could put that on everything. I really hope this place does well and sticks around for folks to enjoy. read more

Placed an order to go and the gentleman was very nice on the phone. When we arrived it was hot and ready. Gave us all the utensils, napkins and sauces we needed. I recently posted a review of this restaurant and now I don't see it. All I see are high ratings for some reason. Hmm. I placed a take-away order here a couple weeks ago and was very disappointed. Based on the reviews I saw, I expected a nice meal but it was not good. I got the panang curry and a side of gyoza. The sauce in the curry dish was watered down and flavorless. The chicken in it wasn't too bad though I ended up throwing away the entire dish but a few bites. The rice was really just terrible, overcooked and gelatinous. Also, I've never seen gyoza all brown and dried out (see picture attached) like I was given. They were like leather. The filling was ok but the dipping sauce was just mediocre. I'm very sad to have to post such a negative review but prices on everything are so high, we deserve better. If you can't even get the rice right, that's unacceptable. I sure miss Blue Dream Curry House, *sigh. If this second review disappears, I'll be reporting it to Yelp. read more

We love Thai food, and this place delivers on authenticity, quality, value and service. We were passing by through town and needed a bite. Khao Thai piqued our interest given the high ratings, and we were very pleasantly surprised to find such a gem. Flavors were spot on. Dishes all tasted as if made with attention and care to subtle mixes of spices from authentic family recipes. The balance between salt, sugar, acid, and smoky char was spot on. The light flakiness of the curry puffs was delightful. Chicken satay was so moist, tender and flavorful. Accompanying satay sauce was delicate yet complex. Main noodle, curry, and salad dishes all had appropriate non-redundant seasoning, and were well prepared. Our server was very attentive and polite. Everything was clean, and well portioned. The best drunken noodles I've had, hands down. The noodles and peppers had the perfect amount of char, and the pork was cooked tender. The Pad Kapow's sauce is to die for, and something I will definitely work on reserve engineering at home. Great price point and serving sizes, 10/10 would recommend. read more

A few days later, my husband wanted to go back to Khao Thai, so today we dined in for lunch. Cute little restaurant, spacious seating, nicely decorated. Staff is exceptionally gracious and polite. Now let's talk about the food! This is seriously the BEST Thai food in town. Why is this place not bursting at the seams for lunch? The Curry Puffs were my husband's favorite: light pastry filled with minced chicken and curry, served with a peanut sauce. It's like a tasty Thai empanada :) Pad Kee Mow was perfectly prepared, tender noodles, sauced to perfection with the freshest hits of basil, bell peppers, spice and chicken. Massaman curry was so well-balanced with savory red curry, peanut, potatoes and chicken. I also got the mango sticky rice to go and it was a tropical delight. When I eat the food here, my belly is happy and I'm reminded of home (Los Angeles) and Thai Town. If you like Thai food, this is a MUST try. read more
