Two of us had the Madness Bento boxes and one Classic Bento. All tasty and reasonably priced. Sliders, sushi, gyoza on the bentos all great. Fries crispy and seasoned well. Salad was fresh. Had a nice dinner here recently while in town. Greeted as we were walking in, and we opted for seating outdoors in the covered area. It was a nice night and inside was considerably louder. Our server was kind and friendly and went out of her way to make our evening enjoyable. A creative and fun menu is here, we tried a variety of things the night of our visit. Sushi, burgers and a bar. We started with the Dumplings appetizer along with some garlic herb Edamame and it was very good, we asked for eight shrimp and they were glad to adjust for us. Crispy and a nice crunch. It was a nice beginning. The soybeans were fresh and hot with a nice flavor also a good start. Next some Toro and Hamachi Sashimi, both were fresh and flavorful. Along with a California roll, it was true to type, nicely rolled and good flavor. Next I had the Sweet Heart Roll, an impressive presentation and work of art. Simply delicious and so flavorful. This was an excelleny choice. Then the Madness Fries, a pile of seasoned fries with a mound of shredded carb on top. This is simply insane, it was such a delicious bowl and the combination of salty fries with sweet crab. A winner. My partner had the Vegan, a beyond burger patty on a Millet Chai bun the way she wanted it and said it was very good too. We tried several different items and each was very good to better. We haven't been here in a while. Stopped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon. It was busy but not crowded. We spilt two mains and an appetizer. We had the rice crisp sushi roll, bacon jam burger, shrimp tempura roll, and fries. Once again, the food was exceptional! We ate outside which was pleasant and cool for a late May Day. We stopped here with a group of 16 after a lacrosse match. Dante the manager was a great host, working out seating, assisting the server and ensuring everyone had a great experience. The staff worked well as a team pitching in to take great care of our tables. The food was excellent. It's an eclectic menu of burgers and sushi but they execute well on both. Everyone in our party was please with their food. I had the classic burger and a maki salad, would definitely order it again. Lastly, the covered patio was relaxing with shade and fans to cool us down after a day in the sun. The menu is vast, a full complement of burgers, sushi, bento boxes that give you a bit of both... I love all the choices. I love that you can seamlessly get both burger and sushi, along with other Asian inspired bites in one box. There's just a lot to love here. Know this when ordering. The portions here are gigantic. The burgers are thick and juicy, and come with a big helping of fries. You will definitely leave full just on a burger meal alone, much less if you order the bento boxes that includes a hearty burger slides, sushi, gyoza, and other fun things. We actually were just in the mood for burgers, but also ordered the crab rangoon dip because... CRAB RANGOON DIP WITH WONTON CHIPS. This ended up being entire too much food for the two of us. Burgers/sushi/bar - interesting concept. And reasonably well executed. Tucked into a shopping center, very well kept on the outside. I could see they have an extensive patio, but at 42 degrees I'll sit inside, thank you. Bathroom was very well kept and spotless. A bit of a sports bar vibe, wonderful full wall mural, very comfortable. I ate mid-afternoon, so it was quiet. The bartender seated me, she had a smile that lit up the whole room. Service was quick and attentive. Food was pretty good. I ordered a big bento box so I could try a lot of different things. Salad was a 3 - tasty dressing, salad was a bit plain and watery. Slider was a 3.5, I'm guessing if I had a full size burger a bit pinker in the middle it would have been at least a 4. Sushi was a solid 4. Gyoza was a 5, as good as any I've had. Net, four stars. There's better sushi downtown, but being only 10 minutes from the house is a big plus. A definite return visit, next time with my wife. read more

I tried The Madness tonight in Candler with my husband, in-laws and 3 year old and it was by far the worst restaurant I've tried since moving to Asheville a few years ago. When we first were sat, we were a little disappointed that our toddler was ignored. The waiter brought the table waters, but didn't offer to bring him a drink, didn't bring a kids menu, didn't bring him a fork or an appetizer sharing plate. When we asked about a kid's menu, the waiter said they didn't have any printed but he told us a few of the things that are offered. We put in our drink, appetizer and entree orders and then the waiting began. We had to remind the waiter of our drink orders before he finally brought them after a long wait. Then, we waited 30-45 minutes for our appetizer to come out, which was very delicious (the crab Rangoon dip). Then, our food came, but the kid's meal was missing, one of the sides was incorrect, and 2/4 of the burgers were rare, despite us all ordering them medium. I completely got the ick and just couldn't eat it. After another long wait, our waiter finally returned to the table and asked how everything was. We let him know all of our issues and he said they would get everything corrected. By the time our 3 year olds meal got to the table, he was too sleepy to eat and the food was way too hot for him to try to eat at the moment anyway. It was too hot for me to handle. We asked to have the remade burgers boxed up to go since it was taking so long and the kiddo was tired, so I haven't tried it yet. I honestly don't know if I will because I'm so grossed out. The waiter had the manager come over to our table and they basically said "sorry bout that. see you next time." They didn't remove anything from the bill or anything like that. Not even the kid's meal that came out when everyone else had finished eating. To top it off, , I looked over to my left and I see a zevo trap full of bugs right next to where I'm eating. read more

Staff were great, they were friendly and fast with bringing drinks and food. Tried a few local beers, and was pleasantly surprised they had 4 sour beers on the menu. For food I tried the crab rangoon dip, and a Bento box (with fries, pork gyoza, spicy tuna roll, classic cheeseburger, and edemame). I LOVE crab rangoons but this dip was too fishy for me, and had an off-putting after taste. The only standout in the Bento box for me was the burger- I loved the fresh Hawaiian roll and the flavors. Everything else in the box was bland and underwhelming. Will give them credit for fair prices and rather large portions! read more

This is a really unusual Restaurant!! Rarely can you get sushi and other Asian food combined with hamburgers and American food? The food was pretty good price is quite good for the portions and the amount of food. Our service was excellent. She was very well informed and took the time to explain everything on the menu. It's a nice relaxed ambience you can go in and watch the television and have a beer. Or sit down and enjoy a complete meal. We really enjoyed it and we will go again. My family was passing through Asheville on our way back from Myrtle beach and decided to stop by this place. An idea of a sushi burger bar seems strange but the food was all very good. It took 50 minutes to get our food. And we had a 4 year old with us! Our server would check in with us, but never update us on our order.
