I have eaten here before and ordered for delivery today. I ordered medium heat and recieved a dish that ranks among one of the hottest I've ever tried to eat. Heat without flavor is not pleasant. Four of us ordered and shared family style the tom yum soup, black magic eggplant, pumpkin shrimp curry, and the crispy shrimp and cabbage. Service was just ok. Asked for lemon or lime for my water and never got it. Food was for the most part tasty and seasoned right except the tom yum soup which was not hot and was very bland to taste . Additionally, a tiny black bug was floating in the soup. Brought this matter to the cooks attention, manager was not there. After profusely apologizing she offered to not charge us for the entire meal. Unfortunate incident in a completely remodeled location . Hope they get the place sprayed for bugs. I was not impressed. The food was okay, but nothing that can make me overlook the hour it took before we got our food! It took at least 20 minutes for our order to be taken in the first place. Our appetizers were brought over after about 10 minutes, then ONE person of our party of 5 got their food shortly thereafter. At least 30 minutes later, the rest of us began to get our food. It was ridiculous. Two members of our party had to leave as they had another engagement which they were afraid they would miss if they continued to wait. As mentioned, it isn't a very big place, so there is no reason this should have happened. We had a party of 5 which I don't think is asking too much. When I asked to speak to the manager, that request was never fulfilled. We did receive a desert of sorts and apologies from the wait staff, but the experience in general was not a good one. If you care about flavorful food, and you enjoy challenging your palate with rich, spicy and sour flavors, you will love this restaurant and Thai food in general. The spicy salads look and taste beautiful and so vibrant (as a friend said ,"Wow! There are so many flavors!"), but they are not too "weird" for Americans. The curry is perfectly rich and spicy with a touch of sweet. Stir-fried noodle dishes have that nice toasty flavor and the texture of the noodles is so good. You can't make this at home. I recommend the panang curry, the yam nua salad, and the pad kee mow noodles. If you're looking for yummy appetizers, the crab rangoon comes in thin, crispy wrappers with crab that tastes like crab and cheese that oozes like cheese. The potstickers are good too, and inexpensive. The tiger cry beef comes with a yummy sauce but the beef tends to be kind of chewy. The atmosphere inside is nice. The service is not always consistent, but the food is, and that's what matters. Many of the servers do not speak perfect English, and expecting to get treated like you're at an Olive Garden (i.e., an American restaurant that pretends to be authentically foreign) is unrealistic. A tip for those dining in the restaurant: ask for the condiment tray, which has chili flakes, some chilis in fish sauce, pickled chilis, and a chili sauce. For those not dining in: I've never ordered delivery, but I can attest that they fill carryout orders very, very speedily. It's a restaurant for people who really love food. read more

My girlfriends and I love to have dinner at Baan Thai in Manhattan because we enjoy the serene vibe and well prepared food. We were surprised last week when not everything was not exactly up to par. Their Tom Yum Goong has always been so perfect on previous visits but last night the soup tasted like it was made with too much lime. This restaurant is almost always busy - a testament to its quality and value. Fortunately, they have enough seating that you rarely have to wait for more than about 5 minutes for a table. We've been getting takeout lately since there's enough food for two with each meal. I decided that I wanted Thai food for dinner so i called for take out. I called around 6:30pm on a Friday and the phone rang and rang. I hung up and called again thinking maybe I dialed the wrong number. It rang and rang and someone finally picked up and took my order. I arrive about 20 minutes later to pick up my order and i head right to the cash register. There was a women checking out ahead of me and once she left the man at the register just walked away. There were about 3-4 other waitresses there and no one acknowledged me for about 5 minutes. They just walked around me and carried on. Someone brought out my order and just sat it next to the register and walked away. About 5 minutes later a women stops at the register to check out a customer and I say to her, can I get some help? and she says, how can I help you? Really? I pay for my food and she actually expected me to leave a tip! The food was good, but the service was awful. read more

I read a couple of reviews that said pricey for too small portions, but if you want fresh veggies instead of frozen, pre-prepared, it's a right on price. Good, consistent Thai food served up in a strip mall in a pretty small restaurant. I'm a repeat customer here because it is so tasty. It's definitely gaining a reputation since opening and is busier than ever, especially on weekends. I don't mind a short wait for a table though. Service is usually good, though one take out experience wasn't the best, but they were slammed that night, so I forgive them. Love the Angry Cowboy, the curries are yummy and every dish we've sampled from beef to pork to tofu to chicken has been great quality and delish. Sorry I had to give this one star! The service has been nasty here keep coming back for my daughter but we are officially done! The two woman seem to get worse and they are always out of sticky rice and other items! Tonight topped it all off with throwing away our food! We packed up two complete entrees that we couldn't eat we ordered so much food and we all left without the food but we were only down the street not two minutes away came back so they could say sorry we threw it away people always just leave it and we told them we forgot it! Well, that's the last time I give this place any business! I ordered the Papaya salad with mild spice, and it was so spicy I couldn't eat it at all. It's full of spicy peppers (and their seeds, which are impossible to pick out). I called to ask them to remake it, and they claimed since they'd written "mild" on the order it wasn't their fault, it was mine for not being able to eat it. I've ordered that salad in the past and it was not this spicy, the kitchen messed up and now I have a $10 meal that I can't eat. I love their food - excellent curries, my favorite are the green curry and the red seafood and pumpkin one. The papaya salad is also to die for. I would consider moving if it was not for this restaurant, it is a must have for me.... My only gripe with this restaurant is A - it is a tad overpriced, and B the take out containers are very bad for your health - cheap plastic and styrofoam which is carcinogenic - I am trying to stay way from harmful chemicals, and estrogenics - styrofoam and cheap plastic are just not great containers for take out hot food. They also are not good at packing it (but this is a problem in all of the midwest) - prepare for it to fall over in your car - please upgrade to carboard containers (the traditional chinese ones are ok) set inside paper bags with cardboard at the base, surrounded then by a plastic bag for carrying. One of the best Asian restaurants in town. Not the best Thai I've had (though that was insanely authentic and hard to beat), but still good. Pad Prik Pow D16 is unique and excellent. We stayed at the Parkwood Inn & Suites for Country Stampede this past weekend and decided to walk over to this little Thai place for lunch. My girlfriends and myself (3 of us) all ordered an appetizer and a main dish and we all tried each others (and shared the appetizers). We had spring rolls (Fried), crab rangoon, and potstickers for our appetizers. Loved all the above (especially the crab rangoon) The spring rolls are super hot so be careful! Next, we had our main meals. Tiger Cry beef (which was actually an app, but my friend had it as an entree) It was just beef with a side of this delicious spicy dipping sauce. Pretty good, but tasted weird after it got a little cold. Another friend had the Red Curry with chicken. It was ok, but I wouldn't order it. My favorite was my dish (yay), the Pad Kee Mow with beef (or Drunken Noodles) . It was sooo good. The sauce was delicious and I took the leftovers back to the room to eat after we got back from the concert! If I was ever back in Manhattan KS, I would go back. read more

My first experience eating Thai food and I am absolutely in love with their food. I can't eat real spicy food so I tried the Peanut Curry with Chicken. It was so darn delicious it was hard to put my fork down. It had a mild bite to it so was perfect for me. My daughter had the Gang Keaw Waan (Green Curry) with Chicken. She loves the stuff and has eaten there before with friends. While it did have a spice that developes as you eat the dish, it was a tad too spicey for me to do more than taste it. I can't wait to go back to try other dishes. The ones on my radar too try are: Garlic Chicken, Baan Thai Drunken Chicken, Pineapple Fried Rice, Grilled Chicken Peanut Salad. While there was only 1 wait staff when we went; we were the first ones there when they opened. They did start filling up pretty good after we got there and it would of helped to have 2 wait staff instead. Our server was polite, observant of or needs and soft spoken and took care of us. I can't wait to go back again. There was a wide age group of customers from college age to seniors drawn to Baan Thai. Our meal combined with tax was right at $24 & change. There is enough left overs for my lunch at work. I spend more than this when I go to other place around town. Manhattan needs more places like this! read more
