    Dips...
    Marcus F.

Found these guys at the weekly Escondido Farmers Market (Tuesdays 2:30 to 6PM). A wide variety of dips, garlic spreads, and hummus. Love the hummus but their dips can be oily. I tend to choose the spicy flavors but the kids don't like those. They also sell flatbread but I would grab it from elsewhere. Not worth the price here, about double what Sprouts sells it for. - Made in San Diego - They do accept credit cards at this location - Always a mix-and-match deal, but at 3X12 it's pricey. Better deal at Costco.

    Magic I tell you.

Amazing dips and kefir but there is clearly a lot of added sugar which I strongly believe needs to be disclosed for diabetics.

Best Kefir I have tried, tastes amazing. They also have good hummus, and my favorite is the classic and three layer dip.

My fiancé told me we were having dinner the two of us, and the hostess played right into the lovely surprise before escorting us to their private room where our friends and family waited for us. The room was decorated stunningly, my family was able to bring in photos and florals to personalize the space, and provide the sweetest area to celebrate the most special moment of my life! We had a few appetizers that's were DELICIOUS - omg I am dreaming about those short rib croquettes. My other absolute favorite was the French onion tart, and the Wagyu tartare was so unique and yummy! Special shoutout to Jorge and Marjory, they not only made delicious drinks quickly and efficiently for around 35-40 guests all night, they were kind, professional, and made me feel so truly special all night long! My grandpa (in grandpa fashion) made his rounds around not only our private room, but the whole restaurant, and told me when he comes back to visit, he wants to come to Wormwood 2 nights in a row! Hahah THANK YOU to the Wormwood team for working with my family to make it the most perfect, special, sweet, and heartfelt night possible!!

First courses - the avocado special - pretty good its bacon good, the omelette with roe and capers lacked some seasoning and the salt of the roe was overpowering. After this the server came over and asked if there was "something else"... that would be our second courses! There was no food in the pass - they appeared to have forgotten or lost the order. We then had an omelette- OK. Buckwheat crepe with honey - very good; panna cotta - Ok. Bloody Mary was bloody bland. I asked about the live Jazz and was told it ended by 1...as the server stood 5 feet in front of a sign saying "live Jazz every Sunday from 10-2". Ran out of water and asked the person taking our dishes for it. No water arrived. On second ask, it did. They did take one omelette off check which we appreciated. Food could be great. Service needs help. Maybe that's why not sold out on Father's Day.

We also brought our own bottles of wine and the corkage fee was only $35 with a 2 bottle max. Brioche loaf- it had honey drizzled over it. It was good but it was sweet. Ahi Amarillo tiradito- absolutely fantastic. Little gem salad- so fresh and the shaved carrots - yummy! The chef gave us a melon salad (not on the menu on the website) that was so delicious, fresh and perfectly ripe. Hanger steak- very cooked perfectly and seasoned nicely and the onion rings were crispy and very good! Heritage Pork chop (I don't see it on the menu on their website)- it was juicy and tender and big! My husband had a fabulous dish but I can't remember what it was called (not on the menu on the rebate) but it was a crab pave- holy cow it was good. If you like pave and crab- when they are married, they are fantastic! Dessert- creme brûlée and ice cream with espresso over it. The creme brûlée was perfect and my husband definitely enjoyed his ice cream. We of course enjoyed our view and our dinner! We will be back!

-- 10 STARS. PERIOD…read more Just pulled up to Pushkin Bar & Hookah Lounge in Gaslamp Downtown San Diego... and let me tell you -- this place hit me straight in the nostalgia and the luxury receptors at the same time. I first visited this spot 12+ years ago when I was living in the San Diego area. Back then it was basically the holy temple of traditional Russian & Ukrainian cuisine -- the one and only in downtown SD. Very authentic, very -approved. That cute fancy borsch was literally to die for. And yes... you happily paid big $$$ because authentic Russian grandma cuisine is not supposed to be cheap -- it's a cultural investment Fast forward to today -- I walk in and BOOM They transformed the whole concept into a super chill house hookah lounge + fancy executive bar vibe... yet somehow still managed to keep those legendary Russian gem dishes on the menu. That's what I call strategic evolution. And wait -- plot twist -- they added a full-scale sushi menu. From pelmeni to premium rolls... this place is now basically a geopolitical peace treaty on a plate. If you're Russian from the hood -- you simply MUST pull up. Order the $30 pelmeni dumplings (mandatory ritual). Top them with black caviar if you're feeling oligarch-level fancy -- I mean why not, live once What they've done here is honestly genius: They took old-school grandma recipes... put them in a luxury outfit... added hookah lounge energy... sprinkled executive bar aesthetics... and created a serious relaxation & dining destination. Perfect spot to unwind, talk business, vibe out, or just pretend you're important -- works every time. Huge respect and special thanks to Julia -- the host & bar boss. Top-tier service, warm energy, yet still operating in full professional boss mode. Love to see it. Also respect to the main boss himself -- and yes, go check his stand-up comedy next door. Let's be honest... he might actually be the only funny performer in the whole joint But hey -- quality over quantity. If you've never been -- you absolutely must go. Authenticity + reinvention + vibes = rare combo Amen

Fortunately, we didn't have to wait and were able to secure a table. They had an interesting hookah menu. We asked the server if they had paan flavored hookah and to our surprise they actually did. Paan is a traditionally popular hookah flavor and we couldn't wait to try it. We also ordered a couple of cocktails to go with it. The hookah arrived quickly. I liked how they provided disposable mouth pieces for each of us - very hygienic. The hookah itself was perfect. The flavor was right on and the hookah was smooth. We were very impressed. The cocktails were strong and tasty. The only downside was that water is expensive. With hookah, water is mandatory so it would be good if complimentary water could be provided so people don't have to think twice. But overall - great hookah, and great ambiance!

I was greeted with a warm hello Ms. Baker and given options on where I could sit while I waited for my table. I was to be seated at exactly 7:45 pm. For my dinner, I had the traditional Boeuf bourguignon with pappardelle pasta. My friends ordered the Steak au Poivre et Frites and Coq au Vin. We also had a great bottle of wine called Lacoste-Borie 2018. The last time I had boeuf bourguigon was about 20 years ago. a rendition of Anthony Bourdain's recipe, but without the pappardelle pasta. Et Voila's version with the pappardelle was outstanding. The freshly made pasta, not only added great texture, but also flavor. It prepared just right, too. The Cabernet sauce was excellent and offered a great depth of flavors. The dish also came with tender carrots, sweet pearl onions, and white mushrooms. All of them were perfect. The beef was rendered down beautifully and had great color and was very tender to the touch. The beef offered exceptional preparation and was an absolute pleasure to eat with the Cabernet sauce. Well done chef. I was treated to a house soufflé which was excellent. It hit all the notes: light, soft, and airy, but packed with flavor. The sauce that came along with it was very good. My friends, who are regulars here, were very pleased with their dishes as well. I have to say, both of their dishes looked amazing. The hospitality at this French Bistro is first rate.
