MG is a cross between a Grateful Dead Concert and a yard sale. I was drawn to this place by the soufflé pancakes that sounded great for a Tuesday brunch. The painful loud music got in the way of an enjoyable moment and successful digestion. We ordered the fried rice with an egg - a bit too salty and uneventful. The Kachapuri was bland, boring. - the best thing about it was the slices of Jalapeños. The main attraction soufflé pancakes were not what I expected. I've had Japanese pancakes before, they melt in your mouth, these pancakes were a bit heavy and boring. Like a party without a DJ. This Michelin star restaurant that has a wait time to get in isn't worth the wait or the experience! MG needs to check its tires because right now it's just a bumpy ride with loud music. Keep walking to another place, you and your stomach will thank me!!
Always a long wait for this spot but expected for a touristy area. Was given the option to be sat in the sun partially immediately or a 35 minute wait for a shaded spot. We chose to be sat immediately. Loved the khachapuri, so creamy and savory. The chicken and waffles had a nice balance of flavors with the honey having a little kick to it. The breading did fall off though unfortunately. The gravy on the dirty hashed potatoes really made it. Overall, a very cute brunch spot to go if in the area but be aware of the long wait times!

Morning Glory continues to be one of my favorite brunch spots in San Diego, and this visit reminded me why. I've been here several times over the years, but this time I finally got to bring my girlfriend so she could experience it for herself. One of the biggest reasons I keep coming back isn't just the food, it's the atmosphere. The music, the decor, the energy, and the views all come together to create one of the coolest brunch experiences around. We started with the Breakfast Carbonara and the Dirty Hashed Potatoes. The carbonara was good, but if I'm being honest, the dirty hash completely stole the show. I wasn't expecting a side dish to outshine the entrée, but it absolutely did. The potatoes had the perfect amount of crisp, and the sausage gravy was rich, savory, and downright addictive. Those two together were easily my favorite bite of the meal. To finish things off, we ordered the famous soufflé pancakes. They were every bit as fun as they look, light, fluffy, yet surprisingly filling. It almost felt like ending brunch with dessert, and by the time we finished we were completely stuffed. We also ordered a couple of mocktails, though I can't remember their names. That's probably a sign that I need to go back and do some more "research." The only small downside was our seating. We were placed at the metal bar overlooking the courtyard. I actually think it's an amazing seat during most parts of the day, but we happened to be there while the sun was beating down on the metal countertop. It got so hot that I burned my arm a couple of times and couldn't comfortably rest it on the table during the meal. If you visit during a sunny afternoon, I'd recommend requesting a different table. Overall, Morning Glory is still one of my favorite brunch destinations. Between the atmosphere, creative menu, and unforgettable dirty hashed potatoes, it's an easy place to recommend. And if it's your first visit, don't leave without trying the soufflé pancakes.

Every time is amazing, and it's obvious why this place is such a hit. The line outside is just to put your name in, they don't take reservations. They'll text you when your table is ready, so go put your name down and explore while you wait. On Saturdays, there's a farmers market nearby, which is a great way to kill some time. There are also plenty of cute spots around, including Parakeet, which usually has no line and is another great brunch option. But Morning Glory is THE spot. Everything inside is beautiful and so well done, over-the-top but still classy. The soufflé pancakes are a must and something we get every time. There are so many options on the menu that I try something new every visit, and I'm never disappointed. Very large portion sizes as well. They also have an amazing and extensive cocktail list. Definitely worth the wait!

This place is slammed all the time, but our server was really nice. It's a vibe inside, loud music and cool decor. Food - soufflé pancakes 5/5 do it! Khachapuri 4/5 - almost like an eggy pizza Turkish eggs 3/5 just personal taste - was too much for me. Yogurt and eggs were not my vibe. One thing to note, there are two single stall bathrooms in the whole restaurant. The line for the bathroom took over 10 minutes. Overall, good and really cool inside. However, one and done for me.

I've had soufflé pancakes several times in Japan and at a few places in the U.S., so I have a pretty good benchmark. Unfortunately, these didn't come close. Instead of being light, airy, and cloud-like, they were surprisingly dense and tasted more like a standard pancake in a different shape. The signature delicate texture that makes soufflé pancakes so special just wasn't there. I powered through one but had no interest in finishing the rest. Thankfully, the rest of the meal was excellent. The steak and eggs were outstanding. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the crispy onion rings that came with it were a fantastic touch. We also ordered the chilaquiles with birria, which our server, Grady, recommended, and it ended up being one of the best dishes on the table. The birria was rich and flavorful, and the dish was incredibly satisfying. Even the sides impressed us--the sausage and bacon were both cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. I also want to recognize our server, Grady. He noticed I wasn't enjoying the pancakes and immediately offered to replace them with something else. I declined, but I really appreciated that he was paying attention and wanted to make things right. His attentive, friendly service was one of the highlights of our visit. Overall, Morning Glory delivered a great breakfast with excellent service and several standout dishes. Just don't expect the soufflé pancakes to live up to the hype if you've had truly authentic ones before. The bathroom was filthy.
Went for sunday brunch and wait time was about an hour and 15min.. not too shabby. We were able to walk around Little Italy and enjoy it before being seated. The inside is a trip, in the best way. Decor is very well thought out and the music was bringing the vibes. I was actually surprised with the food and how everything turned out. We ordered the breakfast carbonara, steak & eggs, pork belly fried rice, fried chicken & waffles, and dirty hashed potatoes. Everything was nicely seasoned and a good portion for the price. Will definitely be back!
10 out of 10 everything! We came here for a Bach and they were able to accommodate 13 girls. The service was amazing from taking our drink orders, food orders, and even taking videos/pictures for us. They were just good sports about everything. I really liked their menu selection. Everything sounded so good I didn't know what to get. A few of us ended up sharing some dishes. The soufflé pancakes are a must! I also got the matchatini. It was an amazing drink to go with our food. Morning glory is great for large and small parities. The vibes were perfect!
Arrived at 8:00 AM on Sunday thinking we'd beat the line, but still got a 20 minute waitlist! It was absolutely worth the wait. The vibe, views, and stunning interior make this a must-visit spot. We sat outside, which was a bit chilly in the morning, so dress in layers. Portions are big and perfect for sharing! My friend and I shared the Breakfast Carbonara, table-side toast and bacon from the dim sum cart. Everything was phenomenal. Loved everything about the meal and drink. It's the ultimate spot to bring out-of-town guests!
Took my bestie for birthday brunch here for the first time. And I must say I really enjoyed the upbeat lively vibe here. Since its in little Italy, parking can definitely be challenging. They are location on the second floor above another restaurant so make sure you go up the stairs to find them. We went on a Wednesday morning and the wait wasn't too bad we waited about maybe 20 minutes. They have seating inside and outside. The souffle pancakes were amazing super bouncy and not too sweet even with syrup on it. Adding the fresh fruits on the side was definitely a must. The khachapuri was super delicious and I love the doughy texture. You have to add the pork belly bacon and jalapenos is definitely a game changer. It takes it to a whole another level of deliciousness. I was in love with how crispy the dirty hash brown was with their sausage gravy. I love their large chunks of sausage in the gravy. It is definitely a must try. Star of the show was the quesobirra taco. It was super flavorful but not too overpowering or salty. Comes with a avocado cream on top and ask for their housemaid hot sauce.
Amazing restaurant, ambiance, and service! What a beautiful treat this restaurant is! Especially the souffle pancakes which is hands-down the best in the world! (Well maybe it rivals spots in Tokyo!) But still, best in the US! Note there is no wait when we arrived at 9am on a Monday, however after that, a line always begin to form. Service was great. This time we tried the pasta and it was homemade pasta and so delicious! Highly recommend if you are ever in San Diego! Always worth that extra trip.

Morning Glory is such a fun and unique brunch spot! The interior is beautiful and full of interesting details, and the whole place has a great atmosphere. It's definitely busy and popular, but the service was very good and we didn't have to wait too long for our food. I was actually pleasantly surprised by how good everything tasted. The food was delicious, the presentation was beautiful, and overall we had a really enjoyable experience. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a fun brunch spot in San Diego. read more
Very very busy and long lines. Not a fan of how the line to put our name down is up the narrow flight of stairs. Yes, there is an elevator but the setup seems inconvenient for folks with a disability to get in line. It's also a game of dodging people while going up and down the stairs. We sat at the chairs on the plaza while we waited for our table. When it was our turn, we got seated at a low coffee bar facing stocked boxes and an area that is no longer in use. Felt like a weird ambiance and that detracted from our experience for sure. The famous souffle pancakes were tasty. I had lower expectations coming in because the reviews were complaining that they were fluffy like the authentic Japanese ones. I agree that they aren't light and airy like the ones in Japan, but they are still jiggly and the denser texture was still very tasty. We also tried the short rib smashed potatoes with chimichurri and that was not very good. The steak was kind of chewy and the whole thing was too salty and didn't have standout flavor either. read more

I came here just to try their fluffy Japanese pancake. But be warned, because this restaurant is right next to the farmer's market, the wait can get quite ridiculous on Wednesday and Saturday. Luckily it was just me and my mom, so we were quickly seated. But a lot of people had to wait in line just to place their names on the waitlist. We were quickly seated. We got the hot and cold matcha latte, which paired really well with the souffle pancake. They must make a bunch of these pancakes everyday, because our order literally came out 5-10 minutes after we ordered it. The latte actually came out much later. Service was overall very prompt despite being a super busy morning. Overall if you are in the area, I do recommend coming here, but maybe avoid Wednesdays and Saturdays when the farmer's market is going on. I loved the souffle pancake, but don't know if it's worth the 1-hour long wait especially when there are hundreds of other good brunch joints in the area. read more
We came here for brunch with a group of six. The wait was an hour and a half so we explored the Little Italy Farmer's Market while we were waiting. Spoiler alert: it was worth the wait. I had the soufflé pancakes with a side of bacon. It was delicious. We ordered fried rice and lobster omelette for the table and it was all so very good. Vibes all the way. You can make reservations. Loved the simple menu. Host asked if we were celebrating anything special and we were. We got a cute coffee style confetti cake personalized. Waiter suggested I add birria to my chilaquiles and some avocado on the side. A must ! My mom got the chicken and waffles. The chicken was juicy not dry or small. Hearty servings. Open concept kitchen. Everyone loves the bathroom to take selfies so there's a wait and only two of them. Staff was so down to earth. Great views depending where you sit but there are some many things to catch your eye in here. Popular spot so get there early the crowds are ongoing. read more

My friends and I came here to celebrate a birthday, and we had such a great time! The atmosphere was beautiful--the décor, the music, and the overall vibe made it the perfect place for a girls' night out. The food was delicious, and I have to give a special shoutout to our server, Lucky. He was absolutely phenomenal! His energy was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. He helped make the celebration even more special by surprising our birthday girl with a complimentary drink and dessert, which was such a thoughtful touch. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because they don't accept reservations, so we had to wait about two hours for a table. Also, several menu items were already unavailable even though the restaurant still had about three hours left before closing. Overall, the experience was wonderful, and I'd definitely come back IF they ever offered the option to makereservations. Hopefully next time the wait is shorter and the full menu is available! read more
Good lord. This brunch spot is absolutely incredible. The food and drinks were perfectly prepared, and the service was outstanding from start to finish. But the real showstopper? The aesthetic. Every detail of the space is thoughtfully designed and beautifully executed. I was genuinely disappointed to find out I couldn't buy the cheetah-print overalls the staff were wearing, they're amazing. I was told they might be available for purchase someday, and if that happens, I'll be first in line. I left my contact info to be notified, really hope they keep their word and notify me. The prices are surprisingly fair for the quality and experience you get, and even the menu itself is beautifully designed. It's clear that a lot of care and creativity went into every aspect of this place. Needless to say, I'll definitely be back. I'm just disappointed there's not a location in LA. read more
This is the PERFECT balance of popular and trendy while still being actually delicious, worth the wait, and fairly valued. Chilaquiles are on point, perfect heat level between the verde sauce and fresh sliced jalapeños. Chicken and waffles with the sweet glaze are banger. Portion sizes are good. For someone who values taste and portion over ambiance and vibe, this place is the sweet spot to hit it all. Our server Jacob was great. read more

Absolutely Loved It! Morning Glory was such a great experience! The food was absolutely delicious, the vibe was fun and inviting, and the service was amazing from start to finish. Everything just came together to make it such a great dining experience. It's definitely a perfect day-date spot if you're looking for somewhere with great food, a beautiful atmosphere, and good energy. First time here. Celebrated our dear friend's bday. SHOUT out to Emily 10 out of 5 stars, our server #morning glory. Exceptional ppl- personality. She's a GEM . Very knowledgeable with the menu. She has that perky / bubbly attitude when she talks. Also genuinely interested with whatever we talked about with her, she listens. She's definitely got that HERMÈS SMILE ( with those dimples to go with it ) the whole entire time. She checked up on us quite a few times. Lots of choices when it comes to food, and this is a breakfast menu. Cute idea too, that dimsum style cart that someone pushes around. Full of extra side orders like that caramelized bacon strip, sweet and salt combo. Place is hip, easy casual. Very inviting. With the art deco style feel to it . They are not open the whole day, pls check the hours of operation. The line to get your name on the list gets pretty long fast. We were even there before it opened. But it was definitely worth the wait and we were lucky enough to get Emily that day. Once seated and greeted by her, already forgot about the wait outside because of her welcoming sincere HERMÈS smile . Parking is a little challenging considering it is in little Italy. Specially when there's the farmers market. If you have not tried this place, TRY it . And asked for Emily's table/ section. That special card you made for us was very sweet. That little personal touch made that day EXTRA special day for the birthday celebrant and for the rest of us. Thank you for that. We truly enjoyed talking to you Emily. Just one thing that bothered us a little was the bathroom situation. There were lot of hand paper towels on the floor. The trash can is small and can easily get full specially on a very busy day. Not sure if there was a scheduled rotation of staff working that day to check the bathroom for supplies of tissue paper is adequate , not running out of hand paper towel to use, hand soap, if floor is wet on an hourly basis. Phenomenal breakfast experience. The ambience and service were top notch. The food was gourmet and incredibly creative. No reservations. Wait in line to put your name on the waiting list, then they'll text you about 25 minutes later when your table is ready. Sitting at the bar is not first come first serve. To start there is a "dim sum" cart (but not really) that makes it's rounds. It serves deviled eggs, candied jalapeno thick cut bacon that we both loved, and shots a tropical juice with vodka that was awesome but expensive. Also watch out because later the bill showed 2 shots but we only ordered 1 shot. The breakfast Carbonara pasta was to die for. So rich and extremely creamy and heavenly. The crispy hashed potato unfortunately seemed like it was made the day before and was cold. I imagine how good it could be if it was made fresh to order. The Khachapuri was interesting. It was like a white pizza, very creamy. We added bacon and jalapeno. It was good but got boring after a while. If they would use a more potent cheese like an Asiago then it would pop nicely. Everything we ordered was spectacular and tasty. The only downfall is the wait time to get seated. The hosts and servers are friendly and the vibes are immaculate. Definitely stop by if you're in the area. They're located on the corner of little Italy on the second floor. I really, really wanted to love Morning Glory because the food is SO good and the restaurant itself is absolutely adorable. It's tiny, beautiful, unique, and has such a fun atmosphere. There's honestly so much to love about this place. Our waiter was actually wonderful, so I want to make that very clear because I don't blame him at all. He was kind and attentive, and I genuinely think the issues we experienced were more with the overall service and how the restaurant is being run rather than our individual server. Unfortunately, the service just doesn't match how good the food and atmosphere are. Things felt a little disorganized and inattentive, and it took away from what should have been a really special dining experience. It's especially disappointing because the food is genuinely excellent, and I feel like this place has the potential to be one of my absolute favorite restaurants. What's funny is that I've had similar service experiences at other restaurants under the same ownership, which makes me wonder if it's more of an overall management/service issue rather than something specific to one location. I really hope they work on it because the food is absolutely worth coming back for. I want to love Morning Glory so badly. finally got to actually eat at this restaurant. Their check in system was much improved. There was no wait to get our mane on the list and then there was only a 15 minute wait for a table. The restaurant is cute though our table for two was pretty noisy and very tiny. We ordered the japanese pancakes and the quesabirria tacos. The pancakes were a disappointment. They were just ok, certainly nothing special and the added berries for $6 more were way overpriced However the tacos were some of the best I have had. The meat was juicy, flavorful and not too fatty. The consommé was so yummy! Just delicious. As an aside, definitely check out the rest room. It is gorgeous and the toilet is full service. Overall a very good experience here! read more

The wait was very worth it for this place! In order to even put your name on the list, you gotta wait in a line that goes up the stairs (since the entrance is located on the second floor). Then after you put your name down, you wait some more for your table to be ready. I went on a Saturday during brunch time so it was a bit long but the food was AMAZING. The vibes were so aesthetic on the inside of the restaurant. I love how everything screams cool and unique. The interior is so well designed where it doesn't feel crowded even though there are a lot of people inside. I haven't seen a prettier restaurant in San Diego. I love how friendly the staff is and they are also super efficient as well! It's like a well oiled machine running in there. Hot chocolate - 10/10. The hot coco was so creamy and thick but not too sweet so it made the perfect sweet treat to end the meal. My favorite part was the whipped cream which was so fluffy and light. Baked French Toast - 10/10. It was SO decadent but not sickeningly sweet at all. It perfectly suited my sweet tooth. Again, the whipped cream here is SO GOOD. Perfectly fluffy. And the french toast was so soft and pillowy. It tasted heavenly when drenched in the sauce. Absolutely wish I could go back in time and try this again for the first time. Turkish eggs - 10/10. This was dish was so refreshing and a fun pop of flavor in my entire meal. The eggs are runny and the greek yogurt was tangy. I love cherry tomatoes (my favorite fruit) and everything paired so well with the cripsy toast. This was my favorite dish out of the entire meal. The textures here were unbeatable. Fried rice - 7/10. This runny egg yolk really got me on this one. But to me, it didn't stand out simply because I couldn't find a specific reason as to why this fried rice was better than any other fried rice that I have had. Came here on a Saturday late morning and quoted 1 hour and 15 min wait after waiting 15 in the line to put my name down with the hostess. You have 10 min to return after you receive the check-in text. There is a farmers market on the block and nearby so we decided to nibble and come back for the soufflé pancake instead of a full brunch since we were already hungry. There is a disclaimer that each batch of pancakes could take a little while to come out. Soufflé $17 for 2 pancakes, whipped cream and butter. These were the densest soufflé pancakes that you will ever come across. They are so heavy and eggy and reminded me of the egg cake that my mom would steam. I can also taste what I think is baking powder. Completely awful. The soufflé at other tables also looked super dense. Whoever tried these pancakes and mentioned it in the Michelin Guide need to visit them again. Our hot maple latte was served in a goblet and that was okay. The foam is thick, not too sweet. The coffee is medium strong in taste. The service is also minimal and our waiter didn't ask us how the food is because I would've told him as it is. read more

It's rare that you can get attentive service, delicious food, and stylish decor all in one spot - Morning Glory definitely put the work in its details to make that happen! It's located on the top floor so you'll have to look up to find the neon sign that follow the trail to find the staircase to go up, or you can take the elevator right next to it. The seating features a large open patio where you can enjoy the San Diego sunshine or you can sit inside surrounded by greenery. The staff is amazing and carries the fun energy all the way through The restaurant opens at 8am, so if you're early riser, after you get stuffed, you can walk around Little Italy and enjoy the peaceful side of it As for the food, the portion is large and can be shared within your group. The quesabirria and steak really stood out for their flavors. The coffee is average but the presentation added points for it. A lot of people were hyped about the soufflé pancake, but I think we got too full to appreciate it. Nonetheless, overall experience was very memorable and will return for brunch again read more
Came here on a Saturday afternoon with no reservation. The wait time was approximately 1 1/2- 2 hours, but that was no problem for us, as we walked around the farmer's market right outside! I ordered the Breakfast Carbonara - it was SUPER CREAMY! It wasn't even a huge portion but I lowkey couldn't finish it all because of how creamy it was. My friends got the Quesabirria, Fried Chicken Waffle, and Pork Belly fried rice. I tried a little bit of everything and it was pretty solid! We also shared the BBL cocktail which we all enjoyed a lot because it didn't have that alcohol aftertaste. As for the ambiance, it was super bustling and busy. Our server came to check up on us 2-3 times. If you're looking for an aesthetic brunch place in SD, I would recommend this place! YUMMY! I've been here several times and always pleased with the food, service, and ambiance. Before I rave about how amazing this place is, let's start off with one "annoying" thing. You will have to wait in a long line just to put your name down to wait for a table. You'll see there a whole stair case which you'll stand on, sometimes the line gets all the way to the ground and wraps around on the ground floor. When I got there, we stood half way on the stairs and our wait time was an hour. Now all that to mention, it's in a perfect location in little Italy so there's tons of shops and coffee places to make the time go by fast. We went to grab a coffee and walked around, before you knew it our table was ready. Now about the GOOD! The staff is on top of their game. They don't miss a beat. Super friendly, very attentive, and can answer any questions you have. The food....SO AMAZING! Every time I visit, I bring someone new who's never been and watching their face as they try their dishes is worth wild. Everyone loves getting the soufflé pancakes, they are truly one of a kind. For me, it's a perfect item to share since I'm more of a savory person, rather than having sweets in the morning but it's so good, you know I'm having a bite every time someone gets it at my table. I also highly recommend their chicken and waffles. Sounds simple right? Think again, the way they cook the chicken and the flavoring behind it is insane. It's like a little heat / savory mixed with something a little sweet. I've gotten it several times and never disappointed. ** The food item I'm most impressed with is their breakfast pizza...UNREAL! This restaurant is like nothing I've ever seen before!!! Everything is so unique and crazy in the coolest way. Our server was, for lack of better word, SUPER chill amongst the bustling atmosphere which calmed us a bit. We went around 11:10am on Friday. Had a line down the stairs just to put your name down. I was told 20 mins and got seated about 10 mins after, not too bad! Definitely this place is amazing for ambiance and aesthetic. Soufflé pancakes - 10/10 so fluffy and delicate, the fruit gave a sweet taste Morning glory fried rice - super flavorful. Love the running yolk and mixed it with the fried rice Breakfast carbonara - fire, very flavorful. I will say that it is extremely rich. Unfortunately no they don't but there's valet parking all throughout that street !! Pretty cheap too

It's first come first served. Don't think they take reservations, thus crazy wait times.

Yes last time I was there dogs allowed and they give them water

It depends on what time of day that you go. When they first open And you are there no long wait.

They do, but that 3 hour wait time was with a reservation

Not at all, we we’ve been there on normal weekdays and there was like a 5 minute wait.

It is pet-friendly, as they even have water bowls for your fur baby when requested.
Do you take reservations?
Check the online menu under Family Affair. They do accept reservations for certain meal items, that come with a high price. May be worth it as the wait can be almost 2 hours peak times.
Are there any mocktails available here? Looking to have a beautifully crafted drink sans alcohol!
Yes there are and the car could also make something for you off menu.
Is bar seating quicker, if you just want to grab a drink?
Depends on how many people you are with. I went by myself and got seated at the bar immediately for food and drinks.
