Surprisingly good for a place that looks like a hole in the wall. I noticed this place after visiting the shopping center in which it is located. I enjoy trying Mediterranean food at different spots. This one did not disappoint. I dined here for lunch with a friend who used to work with me at my job. It was a great place to catch up because the dining room was quiet. However, we both agreed that it was dark. They could stand to use some brighter lighting. The best part of the meal was the pita bread. When we placed our orders, the first thing that the employee did was put our pitas on a revolving hot stone. I had never seen anything like it before. The hot stone warmed up our pitas nicely. They were so hot that one pita released a fair bit of steam when the employee cut it open to start working on my friend's pita sandwich. Nothing says comfort like a warm pita in your mouth! I am trying to eat more falafel, so I ordered the falafel salad bowl. I was impressed that it was fried at the time of my order. However, the flavor and texture were underwhelming. I have gotten used to the intensely herb-y and toothsome falafel that I make at home. By contrast, these were bland and a bit mushy. However, the crunchy, cool salad and tahini dressing made up for what the falafel lacked. To finish up the salad, I stuffed the salad into my pita and made myself a delicious sandwich. I was curious about some of the premium toppings like the pickled turnips, but I didn't order them because I didn't want to pay the $1 upcharge for each additional premium topping. Overall, not bad. One of my favorite Mediterranean places ever! The flavors are so refreshing and the portions are hearty. I love the red cabbage and the hummus is the creamiest I've ever eaten. Service was great here! We got to the line and immediately got suggestions on what we could have and what was good. I got the shawarma plate with half cous cous, and half rice, and all the toppings! And I also got tabbouleh and spicy hummus as sides too. The grains were great, especially the cous cous! Meats and sauces went really well with the grains, and especially with the pickled toppings. The spicy hummus was good, but the tabbouleh was just alright, it needed just a little bit more lemon juice on it. Other than that, prices were good and the servings were massive. I'm fairly certain that Baba G's ownership changed. At first, it didn't seem to have much of an impact because the changes were minor, and even good (e.g. the rice flavor changed for the better). But then the prices went up (which is fine, because inflation, businesses gotta business, etc.), while the meat portions got smaller (not fine, since they used to be super generous, to less generous, to... what's the opposite of generous?). And now everything tastes bland-ish. But overall, the portions are still big. Sure, you'll have less meat than you remember from previous experiences, but the sheer amount of everything else that you're given is sure to leave you full, if somewhat dissatisfied... So, this place is still good if you're just needing a lot of calories/sustenance, and flavor isn't something you particularly think about, I guess? Occasionally, I find myself jealous of people who don't care about taste. It must be nice to not have to worry about what you're going to eat for lunch, because food is just a thing that goes in your face-hole to keep you from fainting. Wanting flavorful sustenance doesn't account for a lot of your mental real estate. And I can only imagine how nice it is to be more productive with one's waking hours when 20% of it isn't spent thinking, "What is the next delicious thing I want to eat?" What was I even... Oh right. I'd never had anything but good experiences at Baba G, but my dinner the other night was pretty regrettable. (Check out my earlier five star reviews.) Don't get me wrong -- the food was great. But here's what happened: first, the employee taking orders was having a very hard time; it was clear that English might not be his first language. Fine, though, right? Yeah, up until this causes communication issues with customers. Three different drinks were out -- no one had refilled the syrups. No unsweetened iced tea, but I got charged for a drink since I bought the falafel sandwich combo. (But nothing I could drink. Frustrating as hell.) The add-ons for pickled turnips etc.? They weren't in place last time I was here, but, well, COVID-19 changed a lot. Prices are up. I get it. But still . . . I ended up with about two bucks extra in garnish add-ons. I think the portion size and value is good for what you pay. Honestly probably one of the best falafel I've ever tasted. Hidden gem in OKC. If you're looking for a Mediterranean fix, I highly recommend this place. The prices are reasonable, the food is good and they make homemade pita chips daily! I have come by on a Sunday several times on the way home from church wanting something fresh and healthy and have loved everything I have ordered. Their "plates" include heavy portion sizes of meat, grain/rice/couscous and then salads sauce, hummus and a pita. I recently needed to cater a large platter side for my family gathering on a Saturday but learned they are closed on Saturdays! But the owner's wife offered to come in and prepare it for our pick up Sat. afternoon so we could have hot and fresh platters and sides. They have won my business for life!!! We wanted to try a small business version of CAVA and sadly won't be back. We came for dinner, maybe that was our mistake. We are a family of four, our kids are 9 & 7. It cost us $70 to eat here!!! There was one employee and he was kind and hustling. It took about 20 mins to get food from ordering to sit down even though we were they only people here. I ordered a steak salad. Many condiments cost extra so for the $17 salad you get meat, lettuce & tomatoes. The rest of my family ordered pitas and he made them fresh. We thought that was awesome but my husband said they were hard and almost inedible. The gyro meat was cold. Oh and my husband & I did not order drinks but yes it was $70. Gyro got a thumbs up, steak got a thumbs down. He said the steak was dry and had little flavor. I'd recommend getting a plate here, it's the best value. Never been here before, we were rushed making our order. When asked for a gyro pita we received a steak salad. Wanted fries and hummus and were told what we wanted and not given a choice. It was not busy, only two other people there. I tried giving it the benefit of the doubt but the steak(even though I ordered gyro) had no seasoning, even after I added salt and pepper it was still flavorless. The salad was soggy. Had more olives than salad mix. Edit: it's been a couple of hours since I've eaten here and I have spent a lot of time in the bathroom. Rolled up to Baba G in the evening for dinner, it's located in a well-lit plaza. Inside, the ordering is set up Qdoba style where you can build your order and customize it the way you like. You can pick between a pita, plate, or a salad consisting of falafel, gyro, chicken or steak shawarma. I went with the gyro pita. The cool thing about the pita is that they open it up down the middle and fill it up with the goodness. Pros to this method is that it avoids the inevitable spilling out of contents that occurs when you fold a pita in half. Cons are that the quality of your bites are more dependent on gravity with the beginning consisting more of the veggies and the sauce they scooped into it, with the end consisting of more of the meat that sunk to the bottom. In addition to the gyro meat, I also got tzatiki sauce, chick peas, and red onions. I would've liked to have lettuce... but they were out which rubbed me the wrong way. I'm still a little bitter while writing this review. The gyro meat was decent but I've had better flavored meat at other Mediterranean places. Portion was definitely filling though. Overall, this probably isn't a place that I'd come back to when I'm feeling Mediterranean as there are other places I like better. However, I'd give it another shot if a group of friends wanted to give it a try. I'm sure there are other things on the menu I'd like better...and there might be lettuce next time. read more

Update: it's now 4 hours later & I'm sitting down to eat my meal. I ordered the gyro plate with no rice, no lettuce. I got gyro meat, taziki sauce, and my choice of three toppings. I chose purple onions, a cucumber/tomato/lemon juice concoction, & chick peas. I chose spicy hummus for both of my side because, let's be honest, there can never be enough hummus. I'm one who believes you can never have too many Mediterranean restaurants, so I glad when Baba G opened nearby. I can say they generally do not disappoint. I've had a number of their items - shawarma, falafel, gyro - and they are all very good. I'm not a huge fan of the spicy hummus, but I'm somewhat of a purist. Hummus should be chickpeas, tahini, lemon, garlic and olive oil. I digress... Just know this: the food is very good. Tonight I ordered a gyro plate to go: Gyro meat with tzatziki and sumac onions, couscous, basmati rice and falafel and pita bread. Unfortunately, they forgot the falafel and the pita was tougher than normal. Maybe their day was crazy like mine, so I didn't deduct a star. They're generally very consistent and always have good customer service. First, you get a huge portion of gyro meat. You can order extra meat, but that's only if you plan to share. They give you a lot. If you like a lot of tzatkiki, you might ask for extra. I like the amount they use because too much can make the meat soggy. I loved those bites where I would get a little meat, a little tzatkiki and some onion. Mmm, mmm. The only thing I would have liked more of were the sumac onions. So good. The couscous includes chickpeas, and was good. The basmati rice was a touch dry, but that may be more a result of the time it took me to get home. Wow, I'm blown away by this place. So many good options in this area, but now that I've tasted Baba G, it's going to be hard to pick other restaurants when I'm hungrily driving by. Both times I've been here, I've ordered the plate. First time I tried the Steak Shawarma and second time was the Gyro. So, be prepared for your mind to be blown as they are creating your plate. THEY GIVE YOU SO MUCH MEAT. Almost more meat than the rice/quinoa or sides! Forget Qdoba or Chipotle and their skimpy habits. Baba G is legit. It's not all rainbows and butterflies though. Rainbows and cupcakes? Sunshine and rainbows? I'm not sure which it is, and neither do my coworkers, so we'll keep all 3. The steak wasn't flavored well and it was very tough. Had it been cooked a few minutes less, than oh man, I would be coming here weekly for the amount of food you're getting. The gyro was a lot better. But seriously, I was given so much meat, that I got tired of eating it. That's not a complaint. That's some serious #firstworldproblems To keep myself from writing too much, I'll keep the rest short. Sides are all pretty great. If you don't like one, then come back and keep experimenting. Spicy Hummus was awesome. I discovered I'm not a fan of Baba Ganoush. Their basmati rice is good and pairs well with the meat. Turnips, Sumac Onions, and Chick Peas are all good. Garlic Toum is great, but I'm going to keep experimenting with the other sauces. We all ordered differently - chicken, steak, gyro, different sides, etc. *Everything* was fantastic. Hummus was great. Spicy hummus and baba ganoush (sp?) were great. Tabouleh was great. Lentil soup was fantastic. Very large portions. Seasoned perfectly - not with an excess of salt like so many places in Oklahoma. Great, great mediterranean food. Holy yummy!! I LOVE this place. Chicken shawarma plate is a must have!! The chicken is perfectly seasoned and the portion is huge! Let's talk about their spicy hummus. It's delicious and addicting. Arabic pickles are so so so wonderful and a great compliment to the plate. Their Arabic salad is always fresh and so tasty. I'm completely obsessed with Baba G and get it at least once a week.
