If you're going to offer one of your most popular items, it really needs to be consistent. I was in the Sherdian Dr location Wednesday 6/3 around 315p. Placed my order and was asked what kind of cheese I want on my burgers. I reply american. The Cashier turns to tell the Cook to tell him american and he says feta. She replies no American. Cook says cheddar and they both laugh. I cash out and walk over by a table to wait. After a couple moments I'm asked what kind of cheese would you like on your burgers. I reply american. Again after a couple minutes I'm asked what kind of cheese do you want on your burgers? Had this for the first time today via DoorDash. I got what was called the "authentic gyro" with a side of fries. Gyro was pretty good- tzatziki sauce was tasty. Meat was decent but a little dry. I've been a fan of Pita Gourmet for years and have been coming to this location on and off since it opened and really have only ever been happy with the food and service. I was in the area and decided to order lunch. My usual go-to....Gyro wrap and their incredible Pita Chips that are made from scratch and served with Tzatziki. Ordered it online so it was ready when I got there. About 20 minutes later I picked up my food from the counter, sat down and opened the bag and had to do a double take. My usual order of Pita Chips wasn't the bowl of tasty fresh Pita Chips I was used to, but instead was a bag of of Pita Chips you would buy from the grocery store or the gas station. Thinking they maybe added this as a cheaper option and I selected the wrong one, but no I paid $4 for basically a 99c bag of chips. Worse, I went on their website and they show the Pita Chips looking fresh in a basket, ( Pictured ) not the sad bag of Pita Chips I received. ( also Pictured ) This screams cost cutting to me. Driving down back home the 90, we pulled off the Clarence/Transit Rd exit and started browsing Yelp for restaurants around the area. I pulled off into the Hobby Lobby lot so we could browse a little longer. As we were sitting there, The reviews for Pita Gourmet caught our eyes. So we drove to the front of the parking lot, stopped the car, and the delicious smell billowing from the restaurant proved we had made the right choice! The basic menu is extensive enough, but like a lot of pita and sandwich shops, you can customize the veggies, toppings, and dressings that they add on. Some menu items even let you pick the meat for the pita as well. I chose the Mediterranean Pita with gyro as the meat in a wheat pocket. I added tomatoes, black olives, onions, banana peppers, hot sauce and jalapeños on the side (the had stems so they didn't put them in the pita. Again the smell alone was something to savor, but the taste! It was fantastic! Every bite was delicious, even when the bread started getting soggy at the bottom (I might opt for a wrap next time). Anyone looking for some Greek food on the quick and are on Transit near Williamsville, this is a great place to grab a pita (or salad or falafel)! read more

I ordered this meal from Doordash. I got a Chicken souvlaki pita pocket, with plain fries and Tzatziki sauce on the side. In my pita wrap, I got cucumbers, feta cheese, roasted red peppers, lettuce and tomatoes. As far as chicken souvlaki wraps go, it was pretty good. I really do like Greek food because it is very flavorful and not too heavy. I wouldn't say it's the best that I ever had, and the pita pocket fell apart literally within seconds of me taking off the wrapper. I had to use a knife and fork to eat it. Also, there wasn't enough chicken in my wrap. Nonetheless it wasn't bad, and it is less expensive compared to other Greek restaurants in the area. I love this place. Well you may be tempted to have tzatziki, I urge you to try the dill sauce. I liked it better when they made their own pita chips instead of selling the prepackaged ones, so I would not say those would be my pic. I always opt for the mini open. My favorite combination is falafel with lettuce ,tomato, pickled turnips, feta, and cucumber. I skipped the dressing and have extra Dill sauce. Cannot say enough about the dill sauce. Buffalo family owned with great food and fast service. One orders their meal at the counter and then you follow the line to have whatever you want your meal topped with. It was busy at 1:15PM on a Thursday and thats a good sign! I had an authentic beef and lamb gyro. It was amazing! There was so much flavor in every bite. She got more than halfway through her wrap when she noticed a BUG in her food. Absolutely disgusting and stomach turning to say the least. I took her food up to counter to ask if there was anything they can do for me, the cashier turned to her co worker and said "omg it's a bug." the employee said to me i can remake it for you but i instead asked for a refund. he gave me the money with NO apology? I have a big list of Souvlakis and Greek spots filed away in my room. I call it my "Pita File." I'm sure not many people have a Pita File in their room, but I do, and I am proud of it. I'm pretty sure George Bush has no interest in it (because he has no taste) but while Bush doesn't, Gore-may. What to get: Chicken Souvlaki stuffed inside a white Pita Pocket (not wrap) with Garlic Sauce, Dill Sauce, Greek Dressing, Lettuce, Tomato, Onion, Cucumber, whatever else you fancy. Amazing. Also Beef Souvlaki or Falafel the same way are good, and a Gyro Wrap is tasty. Their Buffalo Sauce is pretty tasty too. Why: It would be a Pita if you didn't. How to improve: Give the employees all of the tips! No business in the USA should have the owners keeping the tips that are intended for their employees. Talk about Scrooge McScroogerson. The real deal! They shave the meat off the spindle, Chicago style. They also have good falafel, good beef souvlaki (which is Amanda's fave), and any time you get one of these sandwiches (the chicken is the best), get it stuffed in a white pita, with garlic sauce, dill sauce, and some Greek oil. Skip the wraps... unless it's a Gyro. So I get chicken (under $1.50 for a big breast! I love big breasts!), sides of Greek Salad, and my beloved stuffed white pita pocket all the time. It helps that it's right next to my gym and close to my house. I'm happier than Pharrell Williams when his roof got blown off during a storm. When Pete's Greek Isles, first on Transit, and then at the Boulevard Mall, disappeared off the radar forever, I cried. I literally cried. OK, that's because I suffer from chronic depression ever since my Llama Wilfred ran away to be a bigamist Llama in Utah, but nevertheless I was sad because it was my fave Chicken Souvlaki Pita in town, I mean, I even did a UYE there for Llama's sake. Prices are utterly insane. It's under $7 for a hearty stuffed pita sandwich, and it's probably bigger than the PGI one was, with more chicken inside it. The salad is fresh and the sauces are fantastic. They will put dill or yogurt sauce (tzaziki) in there, and then they'll top it all off with a squirt of Greek dressing. It really makes for a mouthwatering combo. The chicken is juicy and thick and pretty special. The pita is fresh, and it's the kind that I love... stuffed inside the pita pocket. You can also get it as a wrap (no thanks) or stuffed inside a wheat Pita apparently. I will try that next time. I was thrown off because I was expecting a Subway/Moes ordering style, but you actually pay first then you move along the line to tell them all the toppings & sauces you'd like. I had the beef souvlaki pita wrap with tzatziki, lettuce, feta & Greek dressing. I was getting this to-go and was grateful to be able to get the dressing on the side so my food wasn't soggy when I brought it home. I ordered another beef souvlaki pita wrap and a chicken souvlaki pita pocket for my friends. After reading many good things about the Greek fries, we decided to try those, too. Very good! They didn't wow me, but I likely will order again. We all really enjoyed our main dishes. I was kind of surprised they didn't ask me how I wanted my beef cooked, but it came out medium which was fine. Some pieces were more medium rare (which is my preference) The wraps and pocket all kind of fell apart soon after we bit into them and we ended up needing forks to finish. The fries weren't soggy when I got home which was about 15 minutes later. They packaged the to-go orders really well Overall, I'm giving PG 4 stars because it was very good, not amazing (Best souvlaki is at Kostas on Hertel). Man...I must have missed something because I don't get the hype this place has received. My experience from top to bottom here was less than stellar. To begin with the second I walked in the door the cashier immediately asked what I wanted and seemed impatient when I told her I needed a minute to look at the menu. So, I ordered a chicken souvlaki pita as suggested by so many and again I must have missed something because it really wasn't anything special. The chicken had almost no flavor, the pita itself was nothing special, the selection of vegetables was average, and the sauces everybody said to get were also pretty disappointing. Think a Subway for Greek food! Order your food, carry the checkout slip around to the veggie/sauce bar and point to what you want added to your pita/pocket. I like the souvlaki and the gyros. They can be a little generous on the taziki sauce and the other sauces, so be careful if you don't like a lot of sauce on your sandwich. Napkin and fork dispensers on the corner walls so you don't have to reach far for them, nor have to fight to get in line for a napkin after you have forgotten yours. This restaurant is all about quality. Their pita bread, especially the wrap, is truly excellent. They take the time to brush it with a garlicky olive oil. Their pocket pita is good too, but the wrap is exceptional in my opinion. They do everything right. Small orders with one or two souvlakis, gyros, baba ghanouj, falafel: Perfect. Huge orders to feed 70 or 80 people at the office: perfect. Their catering platters have the same high-quality as the single meals. During this Covid crisis, they maintain all the proper precautions and social distancing for pick ups and deliveries. The ingredients are always fresh and perfectly prepared. The portion size is nice. The people are friendly. They don't often make mistakes in your order, but if they do, they fix it immediately and will make things right the next time you come in. I have gone to their location on transit Road in East Amherst near the fire hall, and their location on transit and Wehrle and the quality is consistent at both places. Wonderful variety. Baba ghanouj, tabouli salad, pickled turnips, grape leaves, seasoned potatoes, the choices are varied enough to make any Middle Eastern food lover happy. Today I indulged in a Gyro Pocket Combo with a Side of Greek fries and a drink. It cost me just under $14. I called ahead with a few other orders from co-workers and the over the phone ordering process worked out great. When I got to the restaurant, there was an odd smell that did not make me feel good about eating there, but I went forward picking up my food anyways and just hoped for the best. They had my whole order bagged up and ready to go. When I got back to the office and got to try my food, I enjoyed it for the most part. I wished my tzatziki sauce wasn't just at the bottom of the pocket and was spread across the entire thing. Also, I thought the Greek fries missed the mark some how. Maybe the dressing wasn't very flavorful or something, it felt like there was just feta cheese on fries. So, based on the smell of the place and a few missed marks on the food, I couldn't give this restaurant a 5 star rating.
