Absolutely the best donuts in town. Not to mention their breakfast options! Love the Honey butter chicken biscuits and apple fritter.

Cashier was friendly and effortlessly helpful, naturally talking about the doughnuts in front of me as I oogled. Had the Nutella Bismarck, jalapeno sausage and cheese kolache, doughnut holes and iced cold brew. The cashier tossed in a couple doughnut holes for free. They were perfectly light and airy with the perfect doughnut to glaze taste. One of the best doughnut holes I've ever had. The Nutella Bismark was stuffed with Nutella and the doughnut was deliciously light and airy. A complete over indulgence but worth enjoying every bite. Again, one of the best I've ever had. The jalapeno and cheese kolache was ok. I am from Texas so kolache standards are high but I wouldn't turn this kolache away. The doughnuts outshine the kolache for sure. They use Cuvee coffee from Austin. I believe the cold brew was made with a different bean but nevertheless I can honestly say this is one of the few cold brews I've run into that I actually enjoy drinking black. 5/5 would recommend. read more

So so so good! Doughnuts (we had maple bacon and apple fritter) were so pillowy soft and had amazing flavor! The fried chicken honey biscuit sandwich was delicious, sweet and salty and crunchy. The sausage, egg and cheese biscuit was also great (so I was told--it was so good my son wouldn't share). Customer service was very friendly. We are going back tomorrow! Highly recommend. read more

This place was just okay. Waited in line for about 15 minutes to get 2 doughnuts. Waited another 20 minutes just to get an Apple cider. Pretty crowded and not a ton of seating. I won't be frequenting. read more

Babe's is usually great. Food and coffee quality have always been great. However I wouldn't suggest going on a weekend morning. I ordered food togo at 10 anticipating a long line. I stood in line until 10:35 because there's no separation between ordering in and pickup orders, and if there is it's not clearly stated. When I finally get my order, bacon egg and cheese croissant with an iced coffee. The lid wouldn't stay on the coffee, causing it to spill, they were out of creamer and no straws to be found. Love this place. On Sundays in Tuscaloosa most good coffee shops are closed and the ones that are opened (O Henry's) are packed out with no spaces to sit. This is how Babe's became a regular spot for me and my friends on Sunday afternoons. We already loved the donuts that are delicious and well priced, but that love grew when we discovered that the coffee is pretty great and way cheaper than most other shops in town. I had noticed the sign for Babe's a couple weeks ago and decided today that I must finally go try this new place out. A real gourmet doughnut shop in Tuscaloosa, we needed this. The staff is extremely friendly. They told me tomorrow, June 28th, is actually the first official opening day, but today was sort of "soft opening", giving out free doughnuts to whoever happened to wander in. So I pick out 4 types of doughnuts: a red velvet, a toffee, a blueberry, and a cinnamon sugar twist. I was pretty excited at that point. And very hungry, I'm sure they could here my stomach growling. I was hoping the beautiful masterpieces tasted as good as it looked. In addition, they have a variety of fun doughnuts like a Cookie Monster doughnut and a fruity pebble doughnut, and also simple ones like chocolate iced with sprinkles. So finally I sit down after picking out my doughnuts, feeling like a little kid. I decide, I'm going to try the toffee doughnut first. Oh my goodness, I will definitely become a frequent customer of Babe's. My tastebuds are for sure having an orgasm right now. When students are attending the University during the Fall and Spring semesters, Babe's provides their customers with a variety of doughnut options that are excellent in taste, especially their maple bacon. However, when the students are gone during the summer months, the business stops trying and their options are limited. Their Maple bacon is not even offered. At least this has happened to me the past few times I've walked in. Also, Babe's does a horrible job with keeping up with their social media. Their business closed for 5-6 weeks for renovations and did not post anything on their social media regarding they will be closed, nor did they provide a timeline. Instead, you had to drive to the store to find a note on their door that said they were closed due to renovations and will open up when the renovations are done. They did not let their customers know when they re-opened, and their so called "renovations" were mediocre. read more

A nice variety of unusual, delicious, artistically rendered donuts (the S'Mores donuts were gorgeous and tasty). They have a cake-ier consistency than Krispy Kreme, but not as cake-y as Dunkin Donuts. The coffee is better than you'd expect; it's not just a doughnut place that happens to have coffee. I tried the "sausage" kolache and it was...okay. Full disclosure: I've never had a kolache before (for the uninitiated, its a sweet pastry that's often stuffed w/ something savory) so I'm not the best judge, but it's worth noting that the sausage was just a hot dog. I think I'll stick w/ the donuts next time. The location is great. They have a few tables right on the corner of University and Greensboro where you can watch the world go by. The inside space is a bit narrow and claustrophobic, not a great place to hang out unless you get the seat by the huge windows in the front. It's probably better to just stop by, grab some donuts and coffee, and hit the road. read more
