I haven't ate here in awhile and me and the wife were craving chubby cheese baskets. So I went and picked it up. I got it home and there was no fries. Since when did you have to ask for fries? The name chubby cheese basket should mean more than just a hamburger which was delicious, but shouldn't that include fries. I would've understood if I just asked for a chubby cheese burger but the basket should include fries. It'll be awhile before I go back. I'm really disappointed. read more

This place use to be amazing! We would go here all the time and they would hand cut their fries and the burgers would be big fat and greasy! They now serve frozen fries and the chubby cheese is not so chubby anymore and it's dry :( it sucks because you crave that big fat juicy burger and you're just disappointed with the results. read more

Suggested by a friend and we were not disappointed. The burgers, onion rings, and thick shakes were great. All for a good price. The only negative was that someone took the trash out only as far as just outside the front door. This was quickly rectified when we told the staff. read more

After being a frequent Babe's customer as a kid and teen years ago, I still have a soft spot for this place. Currently their only remaining location, they still serve up excellent cheeseburgers and curly fries. My husband really likes their fish sandwich, too. I had chicken fried steak here once and it was surprisingly quite good (I'm not sure if it's on their permanent menu). However, I would advise against their "fish and chips" because it was a tiny portion of fish that tasted like 99% salt and the chips aren't French fries but actual super-salty potato chips. Maybe some people like this but I did not. Because of it, I steered clear of Babe's for a couple of years! Anyway, it's the real deal, old school burger joint, so expect no frills and greasy tables. We like to dine here at night because lunchtime is just so busy (on weekdays and weekends alike). read more

Everytime I go to babes. I tell them very thoroughly how we want our order, I live clear in south joplin my spaghetti red dinners barely had chili red on the spaghetti. The language from the cooks were unecessary. They put onions on them, I told them no onions I specified it. read more

Everyone needs to get the Chubby Cheese Basket at least once. It is a really greasy cheese burger and fries and is wonderful. Too many calories to count? most likely, but so good! If you feel like some delicious greasy, wonderful food just stop by Babe's drive thou and order a Chubby Cheese Basket. I have never been disappointed. read more

I want to LOVE Babe's, but I just can't. Went there yesterday at a quasi-busy time, but there was plenty of seating and they weren't swamped. Burger was hot and fresh, but lacking in something - not sure what... Seasoning? I added salt, pepper and catsup (individually) didn't seem to help. Cheese was minimal and not particularly melted, which is not what you expect on something called a "Chubby Cheese". Overall, burger was a pass. Suzy Qs... They were plentiful - that's the best this part is going to get. The Suzy's were lukewarm, pasty beige, un-seasoned, very disappointing. The all-you-want catsup squeeze bottles on the tables (ok, I do like that practice, but...) contained super sweet, probably bargain brand, off tasting sweet catsup. Did I mention it seemed overly sweet? I added salt to kill the sweetness but to no avail. Overall, passable, not the best. read more

Obviously, this place is not healthy, but that's not the point. It's delicious beyond reason, and that makes it worth the grease every once in a while. I love their onion rings, and the cherry limeade is the classic thing to go with a nice Chubby Cheese basket...definitely hits the spot! read more

Stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night. We had the "chubby cheeseburger," onion rings, and suzie q's. Everything was delicious. The onion rings are awesome. The only problem during our visit was that the dining room was quite dirty. Someone needed to grab a broom and there were tables that needed to be wiped off. Would have gotten five stars if the place was clean, but the food (and the great value) still give Babes a high grade. read more

I have lived in Joplin for a year now and have NEVER gotten my burger the way I have ordered it. FF are limp and unless you order extra crispy they are cold. I am finally finished with this place and will NEVER go back! Save your money and go someplace else. read more

I use to eat her as a kid and it has alway been a great place to get ice cream and burgers. Tonight I went to get three shakes for my children and it took 45 minutes to get our order. We waited in the drive threw by the window and watched the cooks goofing off, dancing and not showing any urgency. When we finally got our order, or thought we had it was for the car that was in front of us. This place use to be great now customer service is more than lacking. Very disappointing. read more

I ordered the chicken fried steak special. There was an asterisk by "mashed potato" and "green beans". I assumed that meant that you could substitute for fries or another side. I asked the cashier and she informed me that I could substitute mashed potatoes for the green beans I did not want. I would have preferred fries or onion rings, but oh well, mashed potatoes it is. We finished ordering, I went and sat down, she rang it up, swiped my hubby's card, and THEN informed him that the substitution cost an additional $2! He then told her that we would just take the green beans, to which she replied that she had already charged his card. She made no attempt to rectify the situation. BTW: for $2 I could have purchased fries, onion rings, or suzie q's. I politely discussed our experience with a manager and he seemed completely uninterested and offered meager excuses... And again no apology or solution was offered. I know that Babe's is not a fancy restaurant, the food is what you would expect of a greasy spoon. My issue is the lack of customer service. There were many ways in which they could have offered a solution or at least a sincere attempt to satisfy the customer... Instead they showed that they did not care in the least. Passing thru Joplin- stopped because the parking lot was packed and the drive thru was long. Not disappointed. Had to have their trademark - the chubby cheese with bacon. Great burger, excellent onion rings. Prices more than reasonable. Stop here- you'll love it. read more

Last time my husband and I came here there was MOLD in the women's restroom, the AC was leaking on the only clean table available, and the food was super greasy, under cooked and just Nasty. My husband felt sick for 2 days afterwards. read more

I've been eating at Babes for years ! Love the chubby cheese burger basket with Susie q ' s or onion rings. I usually go through the drive through. But it's almost always filled with cars and people. I definately liked it better when the last owner ran it , but he retired and I can appreciate that. He just ran things better. read more
