Totally worth a drive out to Medina for some tacos or a torta. It's a beautiful drive from Buffalo…read moreinto Medina and you should go through the Iroquois nature preserve on the drive. The taco truck is open Friday Saturday and Sunday and there are several socially distanced picnic tables outside, some with umbrellas and some without. It was a nice day so we sat in the sun. My diablas torta (chorizo & carne asada) was delicious with slices of avocado, onion, lettuce and peppers. Unlike most tortas I've had they were light with the mayo which is appreciated when you're having something as decadent as chorizo and steak. The bread was amazing and fresh as well. Great sandwich. The bf has lengua, carnitas and diabla tacos and enjoyed them all. We had horchata and Jamaica to drink. The Jamaica was not too sweet which was nice. The horchata was very good. My biggest problem with the aguas frescas set up was the multitude of yellow jackets attacking the drink dispensers which were set up for self service. I had wanted limonada but the bees were particularly interested in the dispenser for that one. We also checked out the store next door and picked up a packet of hot homemade tamales (also delicious) as well as some chorizo, hot sauce and drinks. Highly recommended weekend trip.

The closest thing we've found to tacos that remind us of home- LA. It's well with the drive for us!read more

The day was cloudy, dreary and rainy. But that in no way stopped anyone from attending the Food…read moreTruck Round Up! No sir, umbrellas abounded, as folks meandered from truck to truck, sniffing the air for answers to what's cookin', tempting them to certain trucks. It rather smelled like the fair, in a GOOD way, food scents wafting by, mingling with each other as giddy people paid no attention to each other or even their cell phones in an effort to decide which truck to order from. BBQ? Vietnamese? Sweets? Mexican??!! Greek? Oh boy, what fragrant air filled the Eastern Hills Mall parking lot on Transit Road this day. What a concept! If only the trucks lined up like this, like a train, one after the other, once a month instead of annually. Boy, it was our lucky day! We just happened to stumble upon the line up. I knew I must try the Black Market Food Truck, for they served the most awesome food at the Yelp Elite International Institute event recently and I knew I'd find my way to them once again. Today I tried the corn and black bean hummus, and it was delectable with a bite, and beautifully presented, and from a TRUCK! Little slanted slices of crispy dipping bread was alongside the cupful of hummus. Mister ditched the umbrella and hoofed it quickly to Lloyd's and oh my, was that burrito nummy! He ordered the one with braised beef and it was so flavorful, just like home cooked beef, and I seldom eat beef. Rolled in a 12" tortilla, with rice, black beans, a jack/cheddar cheese blend, finely shredded cabbage, chimichurri, and salsa roja it was perfectly spicy and delicious, a plentiful portion of goodness. And for $6.50? Hands down the best burrito I've tasted. We splurged on a Mexican Coca-Cola, super yum taste from childhood, before "corn syrup" took over the real sugar ingredient around these parts. In this inclement weather, not one server had a scowl, all were cheerful and happily serving it up from high upon their truck-turned-order-window. Kudos to all who work the food trucks, may you prosper with such ingenuity and hard work. As in many of my posts, give these non-chain folks the business, they have way more at stake than a fast food joint. Reward them with your patronage! Follow them on their websites and spread the word; give your fellow residents, friends and neighbors the chance to thrive. And Eastern Hills Mall, hellooooo, you folks have done so much for the community since new management took over. How about bringing in the trucks on certain Saturdays, monthly, at least? Pretty please?!

So as not to overestimate, when calculating Maths, I usually think it's better to "Round Down", but…read morethis food truck festival believes otherwise. I'm sure they'd love me to "Round Up" to a 4, but I can't. Larkin Square has the same issues (massively overpriced with really low standards), but their selection is magnificent (40 to 50 per Tuesday), and they have the influx of Rochester trucks to improve the quality - the Buffalo ones are awful for the most part. I must have spent a good $50 just trying to sample 6 or 7 of these food trucks, which I think is preposterous. Almost everything I ate was average or just really, really bad. The Black Market Food Truck was one enjoyable exception. I wrote reviews of most of these trucks, and then was sent abuse by the owner of my least fave of the trucks I tried - Roaming Buffalo. Plus it was outside and we all got soaking wet as well as ripped off. Despite all the negativity I associate with this event, it's still a bunch of locals trying to get by, and it's still a food truck rodeo in a town that didn't have food trucks for a long time. So I'll give it a 3. But the standard needs to go way up and the prices need to go down, in order for me to ever give food trucks my repeated business in this city.

Food Truck Round Up - All right, so it's got a bite or two out of it, couldn't wait to taste the burrito from Lloyd's! Awesomeness.

We got a brisket sandwich, a half rack of ribs and then an order of the BBQ eggrolls. My son loves the ribs and will eat so many of them. My wife finished his ribs and had the BBQ eggrolls which are incredible. And I got the brisket sandwich this time and it was great. The brisket was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Everything was delicious. When I walked in to pick it up, they were just finishing up my order and were super friendly. The inside of the restaurant is great and has that classic BBQ spot vibe so we will definitely be here more to dine in too.

I know what I am looking for. I will start by saying the staff and service at TSG are above par. Friendly, helpful, and fun. I stopped in to grab a to-go meal. Two meats and two sides. Ordering was easy and staff were helpful. Food was ready to go quickly. I didn't stay to eat, but the space looks like it could be very enjoyable with plenty of outdoor style seating. I ordered ribs and brisket with a side of coleslaw and tater tots. The servings were VERY generous. I was surprised at the weight of the bag. Tater tots beat expectations for a MN boy, and coleslaw was quite good. Ribs were fall-off the bone, if that is what you are looking this is for you. Me? I am looking for a little "tug" on my ribs. Even though they were falling off the the bone, they were surprisingly dry. Brisket rub was unique and delicious. The brisket on the other hand was so dry I needed liquid to get it down. This is the second time I have visited TSG. The first was shortly after they opened and my memory was that it wasn't for me. This visit confirmed it.
