This was my first order since the new owners took over. I ordered on line, several hours before I wanted to pick up my food, and it was hot and ready when I arrived. Going into the restaurant , the first thing I noticed was how clean and bright everything looked! My food was packed well for takeout and the portion sizes were generous. As I pick the food up, I get to taste a little of my son's items, and it was delicious! I'm not a big eater, so I have enough for a second meal! We went with a friend for dinner. Our friend is a regular who loves this place. Our first time here, our friend ordered the smothered meatloaf with mushrooms and onions with mash potatoes. My wife had the breaded pork chops with mashed potatoes with gravy. I ordered pork chops too but not breaded and I had waffle fries. Both were same price (11.99). Chef salads were ordered separately (3.29). Salads came first and were simple but just enough. All three entrees came afterwards and all were hot. We kept space for the dessert pies in the rotessorie. Choices were lemon meringue to fruit crumbles to chocolate pudding pies. All hit the spot. Beverages available were soft drinks, coffee. No booze. 3 dinners with side salads and pies for dessert for $55. Add your tip! Madison was our server. We'll be coming back regularly. read more

This is a great local breakfast diner. We went for the first time with our toddler and immediately loved the atmosphere - everyone greets you when you walk in so it's a very welcoming place. I wasn't expecting it to be so huge inside - lots of booths and tables available. I ordered my daughter cinnamon toast with her meal and I really enjoyed it - I've never had toast like that and it was probably my favorite part of breakfast! We stopped by yesterday, April 18th, Good Friday. It was great. We had the fish frys. Large portions and everything tasted great. The batter was thin and for us was perfect, more fish to enjoy! The service was excellent and all for $30.00 and change. We'll definitely be going back. The new owners are bringing back everything the original Candy Apple Cafe always was. In our venture to find the best diners/cafes in WNY, I decided to take a leisurely drive to Akron to this small town restaurant . Prices are super affordable. Service is fast yet friendly . A three cheese omelet came with your choice of toast . I changed it up from my usual rye and got raisin bread (good choice I may add) . Sadly, I didn't realize the omelette didn't come with home fries but I asked the server if I could have an order and they showed up in just a few minutes with the largest bottle of Frank's hot sauce I've ever seen . The cheesy but basic omelette hit the spot . The home fries were good but not my top spot to get home fries. I would come back for lunch or dinner because between the prices, service , food and ambiance, I was quite pleased with Candy Apple Cafe! read more

Cute, restaurant located in Village of Akron, if your loking for a reasonable, quaint, large portion restaurant look no further. Homey, environment with decor and wood booths. It is located in an unassuming building in a small plaza kind of next to a Shurfine grocery store. It's alot bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. Candy Apple Cafe, why have we not eaten here more often? We have lived in the area for 7 years and complain of the lack of great places to eat at. Candy Apple is our new go to place. A great menu, Rock bottom proces, a great staff and no wait. I had the turkey club with curly fries, where can you get a sandwich these days for $6.50?? it was as good as a club can get. I can wait to try their daily specials and other menu items. My only complaint all the items are home meade but the mashed potatoes are not. I would love to see owners or managment change this to real in house made potatoes. We started getting take out from Candy Apple for lunch at work a few months ago and it quickly became a company favorite. The food is always great. When it is on the menu, the brisket reuben is the most popular, I really like the sloppy joe, pita pockets are jammed full of goodness. They do a great job taking care of take out customers. Extra care packing items, helping to get food to the car, etc. When chicken pot pie was on the menu they even gave us the bowls they were baked in rather than scooping them out into styrofoam. read more

Had lunch here on a Monday, one of the few restaurants in the area that was open. It was moderately busy, we sat ourselves, and were given menus and drinks within moments of sitting. They had good breakfast food, sans the hash browns, they were barely cooked. The pecan waffle was superb. read more

I moved to Akron a couple years ago and this was one of the first places I tried. At that time, I loved it! However, I just got home from having a very disappointing lunch. The burger just tasted weird and I could not eat it. Plus, the kitchen staff was very lax in wearing a mask correctly. Either it was hanging from an ear, or their noses were sticking out, or they didn't have one on at all! Including the owner. They were following protocol. They wiped everything down, however when they sprayed items off, like the ketchup, salt and pepper shakers etc, the spray went everywhere. The floors were dirty, as were the windows. A few months ago, my dad insisted we go there, and though I warned him this place is terrible, he persisted, believing they were the same restaurant he visited years ago. So we all went - my daughters, parents and me. None of us are picky, and we eat at "greasy spoon" diners all the time. None of will ever go back again, and dad was embarrassed for bringing us there. Food is super gross, plain, boring. Every recipe is so simple you'd think a 4th grader made it. I like hole-in-the-wall diners, but this place needs to be bulldozed; no effort to make it look inviting at all. First of all, they don't sell Candy Apples. This is false advertising and is a shame. But once you get past that... Please don't make any wise remarks about this place sharing its name with a pornstar because that would say more about your private life and internet habits than anything. Candy Apple is just so lovely and so cute (I'm talking about the restaurant, not the person), like the name suggests. It is the quintessential small town American diner, and it has small town prices too. Amazingly it has yet to be affected by the ridiculous inflation that means diners are no longer affordable to people on a budget. If you live in Akron, NY, you will be able to afford your local diner, because Candy Apple keeps its prices deep in the bargain basement. Their food is nothing spectacular, but at the same time it definitely hits the spot and is well worth a try. They stopped carrying my favourite dish (Cube Steak), but they still have dozens of local favourites. They even make a Souvlaki, although they call it Slovocki (perhaps it's a different language). However I'm not too impressed by that dish so I recommend sticking to one of the diner staples, they will all taste good :) The guys that work in the kitchen here are awesome too. Well, this was was a treat! I thought this was just going to be the average "simple cooking" spot that had a bunch of greasy options with a few homemade things thrown into the menu. But this was more than average! Everything was excellent. We caught the corn beef hash on a weekend where it's made "fresh" (apparently only every other week it's not from a can) and OMG it was AMAZING. We asked for extra crispy hash browns and they were EXCELLENT! Everything was SO GOOD and you can't beat the price! The place could use some updating but maybe that's what keeps the charm of it. Not to many really great Restaurants in the Village of Akron!! Candy Apple has been around here since I have been in Akron (around 10 years) Other places ti eat not the quality of the Candy Apple. The food is supreme and so are the waitress that take the orders. They have not messed up once in 10 yrs. No you might think since they are the only game in town, they are prices will be like Denny? Wrong.. they are all reasonable for 2018. "I would say they are fair." They offer breakfast,lunch & Dinner, The people that work there have been there for years.
