We were charmed by the dining room of this place with wood beams and wine bottles. Service was very attentive by different people. My house wine was not listed on the menu as they only listed bottles and had little flavor. I had the sea bass which was the fish of the day. The menu says fish is for two people but the server explained that it could be ordered by one. A bit confusing. The server did a great job cleaning my fish and I found no bones! The grilled eggplant and zucchini accompanying were typical and nothing special. (Don't they have broccoli in Italy?) My husband had the orchietta with scallops and enjoyed it. I also had the chocolate souffle for dessert which was like a lava cake with a soft center. It was not overly sweet. We were served Complimentary Prosecco at the beginning and limoncello at the end! Came back 6 years later and still loving it! Toni and Bessi were amazing and made our Father's Day dinner very special. The food is superb! Service is friendly and very complimentary to the experience! Inside is more elegant and has air conditioning but outdoor is a great option as well. read more

Pasta congolese - lots of clams and not overly oily. Grilled lamb and a side of veg. Perfect. Only room for improvement was the service. Started out very attentive and friendly, but after the main course was dropped, the service disappeared. As in literally. We kept looking for our server so we could move on. Did not end the meal on a good note. Hope that was an anomaly. Would try again for the food and atmosphere. read more

The worst example of a restaurant in a touristy area. Overpriced, extremely amateur and bland food. To make it worse, the portions are minuscule and not artful or elevated. That is the short story: do not waste your money here, or be prepared to leave hungry and disappointed. People who have rated it 5 stars must have been hungry beyond belief or intoxicated. To add more context, we ordered the pasta of the day (Pasta del Giorno) which came with porcini mushrooms and "king prawns," and also the grilled beefsteak over potatoes. When you see "king prawns" on a menu item, you envision decent sized shrimp. When the food arrived, the dish had a large rim and a small section in the middle sized for soup where the food is placed. It was legitimately a soup portion. Worst of all, instead of decent sized shrimp, there were no full shrimp, just at most two which were cut into tiny bite-sized morsels. The flavor was sorely lacking. My partner had a tiny steak medallion over some overcooked roasted potatoes. The meat quality was really poor, on top of flavorless, and was inexcusable for any restaurant. His steak dish was €20 and mine was €17. Add in the bottles of wine and water, and it was not cheap meal. We've paid much more and are not bargain diners by any means, but nothing about this restaurant justifies the prices. Our server and the host came by multiple times asking us if we preferred still or sparkling water, yet neither could seem to get the darn bottle of water to the table for at least 15 minutes. When we asked about a bottle of wine, the host curtly barked back that the house Pinot Grigio was sufficient as we were trying to ask about the Rosé listed on the menu. One word: Avoid. Don't stumble in when hungry hoping it'll be fine. read more

Flew in from a red eye, took a quick nap and was in need of a glass of wine and really good pasta. This place absolutely delivered. The friendliest (and attractive) staff, top tier lobster pasta, bistec, with espresso to cap it off. The outdoor patio with the sun leaking through was the warmest welcome to Venice. read more

Stumbled across this gem of a restaurant on a chilly February night. The ambiance was wonderful, and the food was great! The pumpkin soup was a perfect cold-weather opener, and the sliced beef was excellent! Very creative with the creamed potatoes and chips! Bacarandino is slightly off the main streets and can be a tad hard to find but worth it! Last week, last night in Venice we headed towards another nearby restaurant (ended up not caring for that evening's menu) and stumbled upon this place. There is a nice outdoor seating area and a pretty small inside, probably only about 15 tables max but super cozy. The staff can speak English and was very friendly and great with recommendations. There are plenty of great wine options too - the prosecco we tried was great! That night they had an incredible looking t-bone for two....picture a giant slab of meat coming out on a giant platter - YUM. It was a special and limited quantity item so I'd ask if they happen to have it. We didn't try since we had steak the night before but it looked incredible. Appetizers...MUST TRY the seafood soup! It is so so savory and the taste is outrageous. It's full of various types of seafood and the prawns are the best I've had. It is a huge portion so make sure you have an appetite if you're ordering this!! Also try the mussels and clams which are hands down the best thanks to the freshness and the unique sauce which has a bit of a kick. Bacarandino's meat is top top notch. The chef is so spot on with the dish combinations, seasoning and cook it's incredible. Try the lamb ribs which were SO tender and are complimented with a balsamic glaze and sweet little onions. The pork is also fantastic and tender. Last, they have many options of homemade dessert but I will say the panna cotta is absolutely delicious and the fruit mix is the perfect ratio. read more

The worst food I've had in Italy. Stale, packaged bread. The tuna was previously frozen and tasted like rubber. The grilled fish was not fresh and the few vegetables accompanying it were microwaved and limp. The wine I asked to sample by the glass, not drinkable. Service was poor. We reserved a table for new year's eve supper. We could choose from a menu for the occasion. Yet for the prices charged, the food was very mediocre. We were most upset by the manner in which the host treated some of the guests and specifically how one family was "asked", even threatened in front of their children to leave to make space for diners arriving later. The starters were very poor, in fact tasteless, for the price, which was as high as the main dish. As for the main courses, the salmon was over cooked, the meat- tasteless. When we asked for deserts, we were told that they are not available anymore. When I asked for a simple pasta plate for our little child (as she did not like that salmon at all), we were told that it will take too long and this table is already reserved for other people. Although we still had half a bottle of wine unfinished, we felt enormous pressure to leave the restaurant. When a 20 % service fee was part of the menu, such treatment leaves very bad feeling. I'm going to politely disagree with any negative reviews. Whether it is rustic or touristy or not - my review is about the food and service. We shared the fish plate which was gigantic, and more than enough for two people. The fish was fresh, everything was cooked perfectly. As with almost anywhere in Europe we found a decent bottle of wine for a decent price. The servers were both very friendly as well as helpful while we did our best to order and pronounce Italian correctly. It can be hard to find, but so it almost anywhere in Venice - but it is well worth the find! Highly recommend! read more

This was a great stop for us as we wandered from Giardini back to San Marco Square. Two of us shared a seafood salad (insalata Veneziana) and a margherita pizza. The seafood was fresh, the pizza was very tasty, and the wine by the glass (or beer if you prefer) was a good value. The waiter spoke English and was very helpful and patient. We sat outside in a quiet street which was just the relaxing ambience that we needed. We limited ourselves to salad and pizza but the menu is extensive with good looking sandwiches, fresh pasta, etc. we were there at lunch but they are also open for cocktails and dinner. read more

First of all, the food was very tasty and excellent! The staff was very friendly and looked after us. However we did wait about an hour for our food which was the fault of the kitchen. All the other tables got their food much faster. But we were offered a glass of wine and some food to make up for the delay. This place is a bit hard to find if you're looking for it, but we just happened to stumble upon it. I ordered shrimp pasta, but the shrimp was not cleaned properly so I could only eat about half the plate. Beef carpaccio was a bit too thick. Although the food was decent, we waited over an hour for our food.. Not worth it. This surprised me because there were only around 3 other tables filled in the restaurant. I think the waiter just forget to fire our order. The waitstaff is very kind, drinks were good. I'd say it's half tourist half locals dining here. read more

This place was so unbelievably awful. To begin, the waiter tried to up- sell a glass of wine to us, and then served a lobster that wasn't cracked or able to open. I just got back from my meal here and immediately had to write a review. The service was amazing and the food was delicious! I got a tip from my hotel to check it out, and was really intrigued. When I got there it already had a nice ambience, but there were no open tables outside. I decided it would be worth it to wait, so the host sat me inside the bar area and brought me and my family free drinks while we waited. The wait was quick, only 10-15 minutes. The restaurant is only a short walk from the grand canal, so I would recommend walking to that after your delicious dinner! read more

Don't waste your time eating here. We walked in on our first day because we were hungry and most good restaurants don't open until 7pm and we're booked. Primi plates were good but main courses lacked any indication of any culinary skill.
