Unfortunately, there are limited options for Italian in the North Burnaby area that takes reservation on short notice. So I decided to come back for a visit. We were a table of 8 with a reservation time of 8:30pm. We got to listen to live music from the beginning when the band set up to the end at 10pm when the band left the stage. Only one entree arrived and everyone was left starving including a 5 year old child at 10pm. We asked a server to check on the food and we were told it was coming. I went straight to the manager to complain that there was a child at the table and that it was already 10pm. I kept watching the kitchen area after 9:15pm and I did not see food other than dessert coming out of the kitchen. Maybe they were busy with take out orders? Our server was also absent for long periods of time. We received our food after 10pm and were done eating by 10:20pm. We skipped dessert as we had enough of the lack of service. Two staff members promptly cleared plates. They were faster at clearing tables than making food. We were out the door by 10:30pm. Was it worth the revisit? We should have lined up at Anton's and would probably be served faster even waiting in line. I did not realize that eight pasta dishes would be that challenging for the kitchen when it was a later dinner time. We also received no compensation or follow up from the manager. We paid full price. It was suppose to be a nice dinner with out of town guests gone very wrong. The live music is nice. I would recommend this place for people who want to drink and dance the night away as it is lively. We did receive all our alcoholic beverages and bread very promptly. However, I could not enjoy the music after awhile when I am starving and waiting for my food for over an hour. I also felt bad choosing this restaurant and making everyone (especially children) at my table starve with me. Lastly, I do not recommend this restaurant to families with young children as the service is unpredictable. read more

We went at 5:30, as we had an Entertainment Book card, which said that they could only seat us before 6pm on Friday/Saturday. They said that they were fully booked for the rest of the evening past 7pm, so were glad that we came early. The service was attentive, and the food was excellent. I ordered veal canelloni, and my boyfriend ordered one of the chicken dishes, which he said was very good, as well. It turns out they have live music Thursday - Sunday, but that Thursday and Sunday evenings were less busy, and otherwise we would need a reservation a week in advance. Let me start on a positive side. The food is great. Authentic. My compliments to the chef. Music is very authentic as well. On the other hand - the waitress serving us was a disaster. I am not sure if she is forced by her parents to work in that business for free or for some other reason, bad day or else. It is just very unprofessional. Especially, if the bill is in the mid 3 digits....it was B-day party. Without going into details - the service was ruinous, the food was fine. It's a pity - now we understand why the place is mostly empty. It's a true palace, a great kitchen, everything, unfortunately, being almost ruined by the waitress. After our first visit we had many times take out dinners from Baci. we tried the Pizza and found it not to be to our taste, to much stuff on it and to soggy. However, since we had the Lasagne, we are hooked. It is just the best Lasagne out there. Having had such good experiences we decide to have our small wedding dinner there as well, and it worked out amazingly. Our guests, all 15, were complimenting us on our choice of venue. The food was really good, plentiful and varied to cater for all tastes. The wine recommendation was excellent. The service was top notch, loved the waiter who again had flair, charm and wit to keep us all having fun and our glasses filled. The icing on the proverbial cake was the bill, that ended up being a couple of $100 less then expected. All in all a place to recommend. read more

My boyfriend brought me here for a birthday supper and what a pick! Amazing food and service. I highly suggest the mussels appetizer so tasty! I had the stuffed chicken with shrimp and cream sauce found it very filling. Creme brûlée for dessert, yum. Can't wait to go back here again, very decent prices for some fine food! read more

Dinner here for the first time with my husband. Service was interesting... The girl server was so so. She seemed new or just not very professional, for example my husband asked for a new fork because the one on the table had a big chunk of old pasta on it... she said sure and just grabbed one off the table behind us and plopped in front of him no apologies. Then she brought us someone else's dessert. The gentleman server that was helping out (I'm assuming he was the manager) was amazing. To start we had the bruschetta and carpaccio... I make better bruschetta at home and the carpaccio had too much ranch dressing on it. Weird! The mains were the highlight of the meal. My husband had the carbonara which he loved and I had the cioppino and it was one of the best I've ever had. Super generous with the seafood too!! My fiancé and I had dinner there not too long ago and the food was fine but the service was what was most disappointing. The restaurant didn't seem that busy but the waiter was curt and almost snarky which left a bitter after taste of an experience. At one point he grabbed my plate and I said I wasn't done and he had made a rude comment about me not being finished. I think he realized at that point his attitude was not in check and tried to placate me but I was so taken aback by his comment that I just wanted to get out of there. Sadly, I will not be returning to this restaurant nor will I be recommending this to friends. Some restaurants that have mediocre food can be elevated by the excellent service, but I am sad to report the service detracted from the food here. read more

Amazing! Great pizza and desserts, 3 course dinner special is wonderful. They have live music and a dance floor (which is mostly comprised of the Older folks). Great ambiance for a family reunion, birthday, or anniversary. The staff feels like family themselves! Seating was extremely cozy and comfortable too. Had a birthday party dinner reservation for 16 people for 7 pm. Some guests were late arriving. Service was slow, no bread was put on table until almost 8:30 when we finally had to ask to order. They told us on Friday nights it's $40 per person to eat there! They never mentioned this until after all guests arrived and we were about to order! When our host of party questioned owner why he never mentioned this on one of her 3 precious phone calls he just told her we could all just leave if we don't like it! So she said ok! He then said if we all order entrees we could stay . He also said to her she was lucky he didn't charge her for bringing in a birthday cake instead of us all ordering desert off menu! One of the waiters started a fight with our guests. They had two appetizers on table and no place for more plates and he was trying to squeeze in their dinner before the salad and garlic breads were finished. The music was ok not great more people got up to dance in between sets when canned music was on. While band was playing a few professionally trained dancers hogged the floor. The pasta was not very good. The chicken dish tasted like it had been soaked in salt before being baked. We have been going to Baci's since the mid 90's and thought we should introduce some friends of ours to our favorite Italian restaurant. Both my wife and I did feel the food was over priced for the quality we received this time. My dinner, veal (sorry wee cow) is my favorite and decided to go with the usual. It was dry and there is something not right not getting pasta with the veal....they did offer potatoes and veggies...which were good, but I had to order a side of pasta..on top of the $20 veal... We all felt the atmosphere was great and when the Italian music came on (one of the reasons we go) our 9 year old and her 11 year old friend were the first on the dance floor. They were respectful of the people who joined them on the dance floor after...unfortunately, the owner or manager asked the girls to leave the dance floor unless accompanied by their parents. Unfortunately this is what we will take home from this visit and will not return to Baci's anytime soon. It was our note to look elsewhere...give one of the many Italian restaurants in Vancouver a shot. To close, the food is usually good...so you will get a decent meal with a great atmosphere. But if your kids are like ours and do not want to dance with their embarrassing parents, they better just tap their toes. read more

We had dinner with a large group (25+) on Sept 17, 2017. We had a pre-set meal...veal, chicken and fish were the options. The consensus around the table was that all three dishes were excellent..I had the veal, very tasty. Service was very good and quick...each time the waiter came around, he chatted with a few of the guests It was obvious that they were used to dealing with large groups. Went there for a small group lunch. I wanted to order the Osso Bucco but they ran out. My co-worker had the last one and I had a taste....it was delicious and very tender. Just to be fair, I must mention that my reviews are not based on my latest visit only, but also all the visits I had in the past, and it is an overall impression on this restaurant and service. Years ago, we used to be semi regular customers to this place for Friday evenings mostly. After numerous references from our friends who were all regular ballroom dancers, we decided to check it out since we were always on the hunt for a nice places to dine and dance. The live band was quite accommodating switching over between various genres of music. In fact, I thought they were pretty good. Food was all right. However, I can easily recommend several other places for better foods with lesser prices; Arms Reach Bistro, Mythos Greek Taverna, etc. No, I am not related to these places. Service? Overall NOT so impressed. When they are extremely busy, customers are left unattended for a long time. The nights they were not so busy, they were not so attentive or even try to accommodate what customers asked for a small favor. EX) It was my partner's birthday. We wanted to avoid busy Valentine's day and wanted to have some quiet evening with dinner and dance. I asked several days ahead to clarify if they could change the music or change the tune so that we could dance considering the dance floor would not be filled with crazy drunks and uncontrollable children dangerously running around on the floor. The person answered the phone told me that would not be a problem. Really? Apparently it was. I asked the guy who appeared to be in charge that night if he could change music for more suitable for dancing since the music they were playing had hardly any beat to dance with. He said, "During the week, people like to enjoy quiet dinner." I did not ask him to pump up the volume so that people could not carry conversation. All I asked was the right music to dance with. I felt embarrassed of asking such a huge(?) favor. If I had known that it would be so much trouble for them, I would have picked many other places I could have dinner without dance, yet better foods. Speaking of dinner and dance, I hear there are several more places I can try out in Vancouver area. Maybe it is time to venture out some new places where I can expect more fun with less unpleasantness. Having all said and done, I realized why we stopped going that place. I thought things would be bit different 2 years later, but it was not. I guess we won't be going to this restaurant any more. But, it doesn't mean it is not a place for many others who might enjoy what they can offer. Ordered "free delivery" medium pizza with extra cheese, only $1.5 more and it was a fine Napoletana, excellent crust, sauce and meats, only thing it could have used another minute in the oven, but I didn't ask for a little extra cook like I always do esp. Pizza Hut. I know they have above way average Italian food when you dine in and have a nice time with live music, it's different and a change, going back in time a bit. Last time I picked an order up I had a couple of beers while waiting at the bar because it was busy. He thanked for my patience with another beer on the house. Cheap pizza, pasta and beer nights too. I was told this restaurant served Italian food and was run by Iranians so I wasn't sure what to expect. The interior looks like a more elegant and spare version of Italian restaurants I ate at in New Jersey. It's nicely lit and I liked the look of the wood. The food is a mixture of Northern and Central Italian. Our waitress was not absolutely comfortable in English and almost didn't speak to us other than to recite the specials. That said, she and the other staff were friendly. I have never received my entrée in 10 minutes in a fairly formal restaurant before but it was probably because we were told we could have the table for just under 90 minutes. I realize that showing up on the Friday before Christmas without a reservation was ill-advised but they did eventually accommodate us. The waitress had no idea what Aperol was when I ordered it and came back with something turquoise served in soda. Not sure why there was no bartender around. Waiters passed us with traditional Italian platters of antipasti of meats, cheeses and olives. I ordered veal in a Marsala and mushroom sauce which was tasty and the vegetables with it were excellent. My dinner companion had chicken in brandy sauce which was also toothsome. Again, the service was a little uneven though they did try. Removing one person's empty plate before the others finish may be typical of Vancouver's untrained restaurant staff but it is still impolite. Bringing us bread and olive oil when we were finishing our meals was odd but the olive paste in the oil was delicious. We came to Baci's on a Friday night without a reservation. I hadn't realized that it was during Dine Out Vancouver, so it was going to be busy. Luckily we got there just before the rush and the host tried really hard to find us a table that wasn't already reserved. We appreciated his friendly effort and that he didn't just send us on our way. The food was really good, the service was excellent. The decor is a bit of a throwback to the 70s/80s but comfortably unpretentious. We will come back again someday. read more

I heard about Yelp, but never used the site before. When I went to this Restaurant, I felt very compelled to sign up for an account and YELP IT!! So here goes... At first sight, the Restaurant seemed to be very promising. There was a full bar, a dance floor, families, music etc. When looking at the menu, there was no doubt about the food being over priced but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. The placed looked like it was family owned and would have been worthy of having the title of "family owned." The Restaurant was packed and may have been the reasoning to why my server acted in the way that she did. I ordered a $20 plate which looked very tasty but seemingly was not the I had thought I ordered. I requested if it could be redone to white sauce instead of red, and to my surprise the waitress said no and shoved the plate on to the table. I asked to see a supervisor, to complain about the rude server and get bombarded with questions about what I said to the server and how I would have to pay for the plate even if I did not want it and sent it back. THE SERVICE IS HORRIBLE, the place may look good but the customer services is ridiculously the worst place I have ever experience. read more

Baci consistently comes through every time for our family celebrations and we have been there many times. Just went for Fathers Day and enjoyed delicious salads, large servings suitable to share. My daughter had oysters on the half shell.... delicious. I had their seafood pasta, my husband had the salmon special and my daughter the seafood risotto and everything was excellent. Great service, reasonable prices and nice decor. They even have a dance floor and a two piece band which plays great music for the dancers in the crowd which makes for a really nice evening. read more

My husband & I planned a party there for 24 friends & family for Sunday May 18, 2014. It couldn't have been better. They exceeded our expectations in every way. Right from the planning with Danny, to the food, the service and the entertainment. Everything was perfect. Israel the waiter was attentive but not overbearing. He was there when you needed him and provided outstanding service as did Danny and the others staff involved. I can't say enough about how our event turned out. We had ordered menu D and every aspect of the food was nothing short of spectacular. All very fresh and hot when served. This restaurant and their staff deserve the highest rating when it comes to planning and catering to a large party. I would have given this restaurant 5 stars, but, when we reserved, they told us the live music would start at 7:30pm and we waited til 8pm, but still no sign... Will have to go back to check out the live music one day. PS We used a Groupon and were not given any trouble for it, so perhaps they've learned from their mistakes :-) read more

While the website is professionally done, promoting the best of Italian spirit, the dinning experience at BACI Ristorante was a 2 on a "1 to 10" scale. I would like to keep this review brief hoping many people will read it, and perhaps the owners will take some form of corrective action regarding their performance. * PTO means Point To Owners 1. The food was far away from the excellent Italian cuisine. PTO - Some of us have been to Italy. 2. The music had included just a couple of lovely Italian songs. PTO - We have chosen to dine there chiefly for the opportunity to dance on the rhythm of sweet, old, unique Italian songs, definitely not Spanish - 80% or British - 15%. 3. The martinis were ... "on-the-job training". PTO - Have you ever tried them? 4. The bill is totally high for the service. PTO - Please take into consideration the competitive restaurant market. By all means, we have not regretted the money, but certainly the lost Friday evening. 5. To add to the "fun & satisfaction" we both had stomach pain and heartaches within the hour of leaving the place although we have wisely decided not to have desert. PTO - It would be nice if the menu would offer some Limoncello. In this great city of ours, we have rarely been disappointed of a dinning experience. I sincerely hope the owners of BACI Ristorante will take this seriously and will be able to bring soon happiness to their customers. read more

I was invited to a birthday party at Baci. There were 15 of us. We had a great host and drinks were free flowing. We enjoyed the group menu dinner - I cleaned the plates. Tira misu cake was great. My family and I used to order take out from this place a lot - several times the pasta came with the wrong sauce. After the third time I decided to call the place back and let them know it was the wrong sauce (not rude, not demanding a new dish, just letting them know it's happened a couple of times). The person that picked up introduced himself as the owner. He immediately became defensive and rude when i said it was the wrong sauce - actually raised his voice at me and started yelling at me about how I'm 100% wrong and he is right that we ordered the sauce that way and that I didn't know what I was talking about. If this is how the owner talks to his customers I will never give this guy another dime and I wouldn't recommend that you do either. Horrible horrible customer service. read more

Our party of 3 couples had dinner reservations at 7:00 pm on Saturday, we were given menu's right away but we didn't get to give our order until 8:00 as my husband asked another server to take our order. She told our server to take our order and he didn't even apologize. The food was just ok considering the prices - we were expecting the food to be flavourful in which it wasn't. We finally asked for our bill and he brought us 1 bill - we asked him to separate it for 3 families and he said he couldn't. As well, there was a 17% gratuity charge and we all felt we should not have to pay that as our service was worthy of 17%. We ended up splitting the bill, not happy at all as some of our group ordered more than others. Overall, we did not enjoy our experience at Baci's and would suggest people check these things out before they go there so there aren't any hidden surprises. read more

I love the food especially the pizza. The calzone was good. Not my wife's favorite but definitely on my top dining places for price and quality. Always a lively place with a band etc. Atmosphere is nice and pretty dressy. read more
