I came here with a friend who lives in Port Moody and she had some kind of 25% off coupon to use at this restaurant. We were given a few small pieces of bread with some thinly sliced meat, a tomato spread and a few pieces of Parmigianno Reggiano cheese. Hmmm...that was kind of different. Usually it's just bread with Olive oil & balsamic vinegar, or bread with some kind of spread. Adding the thinly sliced meat and the few pieces of cheese was a nice touch. I especially enjoyed the cheese! For our entrees my friend ordered Linguine e salmone, and I ordered Bucatini all Bomba. The Linguine e salmone came with a fairly large and thick piece of salmon. I was impressed with how generous the portion of salmon was for this dish. My dish was tasty but kinda paled in comparison next to the huge slab of salmon on my friend's plate. No fault of the restaurant as I had opted not to add any protein to my dish. I have a feeling if I'd added protein then there's a good chance I'd have ended up with a similar sized piece on my plate as well. Salmon for example would have cost an extra $14 to add to my dish. For that sum, I have a feeling it would be a pretty generous slab of salmon they'd be adding. I did very much enjoy the flavors of my dish. The portion of pasta looked a bit small upon first glance, but it was actually quite filling. I had just enough room after my pasta to order a Grappa Tiramisu for dessert, and as I don't come to Port Moody very often, I decided to splurge and order one. Mmmmm...sooo good. If you like Italian food, this place is quite a gem. I also love that they have a Vegetarian lasagna on their menu. As someone who doesn't eat meat, a Vegetarian lasagan is something that always grabs my attention when I'm at Italian restaurants. A quaint little spot in the neighborhood! It's a bit tucked behind smaller streets off the main road so it felt a little hidden. We stumbled upon this place while waitlisted elsewhere nearby but Im glad that happened. The ambiance of Povera is old timey, warm, and intimate. Tables are small and somewhat compact but it doesn't feel that way. The service was alright. The only time service fell short was when we asked for things like a straw for the drink or fresh ground pepper. Maybe staff were tired as it was the end of the night or maybe they were really busy. Regardless, we did have to ask a few times before they brought things over. Brownie points to our server though - We had a lovely server who was patient and let us take our time to review the menu. And he generously offered up the antipasto spreads and focaccia, which was delicious! The food was great. Highly recommend the focaccia. It was so good! Seasoned just right and had a great crunch. Listened to others' recommendations and got the salmon linguine. Now, it may sound simple on paper (lemon, rosemary, linguine, salmon) but it is done very well. The salmon was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The rosemary did a lot of heavylifting but wasn't overwhelming the dish. The lemon was a touch of acid to being brightness to the dish. Everything worked together. We also got the Bomba pasta with chicken. Also good, had a lot of flavours working together! The chicken also has a crisp exterior and tender interior. Decided to try this cute little spot for my birthday after passing by a few times. The restaurant is a cozy little find. Although we had to wait for our reservation due to seating, the experience more than made up for it in the service and quality of the food. As soon as we were seating, we were greeted with a complimentary plate of cheese, salami and focaccia. We ordered an appetizer and gnocchi and tagliatelle ragù as mains. The mains were both phenomenal and a great price for the quality. It's not the place to go if you are expecting a cheap low quality Italian meal. Service: is ok. For one man to be hosting the front of house, good job. Still a bit latency in relevance to the level of traffic. Main dining timed, room is not filled. Decent recommendation Ambiance: does preserve history well, with furnitures that say heritage. Perhaps a bit of lighting or extra fixtures may be helpful in making the place more inviting. read more

What an amazing little find! We were looking for a pasta spot as we just moved to Port Moody. I happened upon Osteria Povera on yelp and made a reservation... When we arrived we found a quaint little house that was filled with an amazing atmosphere. It actually seemed crazy that I was able to make the reservation last min as the restaurant was full. It did take a long time to initially get our drink requests in, it was almost 30 mins of sitting before we recieved our drinks, once the starters arrived we forgot about the wait, the food was Amazing! Fresh in-house pasta and sauce, delicious appetizers and great cocktails. I like to rate restaurants by their food...5 stars for sure! We did feel like we were forgotten about by the wait staff as they may have been short staffed, we did get over this because the food was over the top but paying the price we did we feel they could have been more attentive. We will definitely be returning for the food and atmosphere but hope we could feel a bit better taken care of next time as this restaurant is going for fine dining. Overall, 5 star food, 3.5 star service. We will be back and hope to refresh our thoughts about the service. read more

Finally got to try out this gorgeous joint in Port Moody. Although I'm sad it took over Rosa's, so glad to have some delicious food in the area. It is a small and cute lay out. The service is great - the staff are super friendly and they often checked on us. I ordered the fileja la pomodoro picante for my dish - I must that I really liked my dish but the only thing that I found for my dish is that it was a little over salty - great otherwise. My friend ordered the linguine e salmone and it was just perfection. So I took 1 star off just because of the saltiness of my dish and I felt like the portions weren't super big when you look at the price tag of them. First time in the restaurant after being a long time Rosa's customer; the ambience is completely different, but in a good way, so that was a positive start. Our waiter was very attentive with impeccable manners, which also was a plus.. Now to the heart of the matter, the food; our dishes were 1) pasta, served with a ragu short rib meat sauce, and 2)Steak with risotto, bacon and asparagus. Both dishes were quite tasty, but portions were on the small side; the Steak risotto dish featured a prosciutto wrapped bacon that unfortunately was exceedingly salty, which overpowered the entire course. The other entree was very good but there was not enough of it, frankly; in addition we ordered a glass of Chianti and a Bellini to complement the meal/ the Bellini was a disaster and the glass of wine, although very good, was a very meagre serving, hardly enough to get through the pasta course. A nice touch however was the complementary plate of focaccia and Parmesan that was served before the main courses. The bill was on the high side($138; 20% tip included), but again, service was good. Tiny little Italian splendour, reminiscent of what I experienced in little Italy in Manhattan. Our server, Ben, was well versed not only on the menu but the wines we ourselves brought in. The food was staples and it held up. Quality was definitely on point. My companion felt some was too salty, but after experiencing it myself and reading the reviews, I felt the salt level was perfect with what you would expect with salt cured meats being prevalent. We had high hopes for this place as it was formerly a great restaurant called Rosas. Let's start with the service. Our server had no personality. We waited 15 mins before she even came to the table, and we had to flag her down. Basic service. Brought our food. Cleared our plates. She gets paid for that... we tipped but not deserved. Now the food.... Too much salt in the penne sausage dish. Couldn't even finish it. Lasagna was meh... gnocchi over cooked. What to say? We won't be back. read more

Friendly staff but the vibe is a bit awkward and tense. The renovations are beautiful with a modern and classic taste. Some dishes are nice but some are overpowering. They do have amazing and fresh ingredients. The chef have an interesting way of pairing flavours and textures that works well. However, a lot of the dishes are too salty. Prices are a bit high but alright portions. Good cocktails but definitely downtown prices. It's definitely harder to be family (children) friendly as the vibe is just different and tables are smaller. It's worth a try but not something I'll crave going back for. The price is definitely on the higher side but if they tone down the salt and have a few more options, I don't mind going once in awhile. read more

Love this little restaurant. It's our go to when we want to get some great pasta. Always excellent service. Great cocktails. Asked for an old fashion that wasn't on their menu and they nailed it. Had a 5:30 reservation at this new restaurant. Didn't get into our table until 5:40. While having dessert the waitress came to us and told us that they have a big reservation coming in and that we had 10 minutes to finish our dessert and pay. I was furious but instead of causing a scene I decided to go home and send them an email. Told them after spending over $200 in their restraunt I was shocked that they would ask us to pay up and leave after only 1 hr and 15 min. The response from Grazie was they acknowledged they made a mistake with reservation and offered only 10 % off our next visit. 10% is not acceptable . They should of at least offered 25% off or 1 free meal on our next visit. We found Grazie to be sarcastic in her response to us. We will not go back and would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

I ordered the prawn risotto and NY steak. The steak was much too thin and it came out well done and grey while I asked for medium. The steak was well seasoned, but it is impossible for the chef to do justice and cook a steak properly when it is cut that thin and unevenly. The prep cook did a terrible job! The thickest part of the steak was half an inch and was cut unevenly with all the thin edges dried up and tough. The server and manager were very apologetic and brought a new steak, which was exactly the same as the first one.... I want to like the food but it was not very good... the risotto was toothsome but dry. read more
