I wanted to try La Trattoria to have a different Italian restaurant experience. When I came in, I adored the elegant interion design of the restaurant; from the wine racks to the captivating murals all around the dining area. The establishment even played calming Italian music, rather the typical radio songs you hear at most restaurants. When I arrived, I was immediately given a table and was told the dinner specials for the day. Despite the staff shortage, the waitress that waited on me was very kind and professional when she filled my water glass very often and seemed glad working there. I ordered the Anitra Frangelico, which was Sanoma duck breast with cream sauce. The duck was good on its own while the sauce made everything more exuberant, along with the grilled vegetables and potatoes. My only complaint about the restaurant is how pricy the entrees are, which granted, this is a high-quality restaurant. I recommend this place for romantic dinners between couples of all ages. I will come back to La Trattoria and try their pasta courses. read more

The last time we went to La Trattoria the food was good but not as good as it was previously. I had the Cornish Game Hen and it was a bit dry. We had been waiting some time for our dinner to arrive so I did not want to wait for another dish to be prepared. We were surprised to see the mark up on wines. We always enjoy wine with our meals and they used to have reasonably priced wines. Now their wine prices are well over 3 times what you would pay at the liquor store. $60.00 for a $20.00 bottle of wine is ludicrous. When we mentioned this to our server she said that she had told the owner that she felt his markup was unreasonable. I've looked at their wine list on their website today and I think this is their old wine list and does not reflect the current prices for their wine. You might want to check beforehand if you intend to have wine with your meal We have not been back since our visit in September because it is no longer good value for the money. The food was not even average and it was a very expensive evening with a bottle of wine. read more

We are convinced this is the best Italian Eatery in BC. The menu is super extensive and has something for everyone's pallet. The chef Harry is classically trained and knows his craft well. Our most consistent server is Natalie and wow is she efficient. We have never been disappointed in any of the food we have ordered and been loyal customers since 2017. We cannot say how great this place enough. This restaurant also has an extensive drink and dessert menu. We would say order a specific item, but we love to try something different each time. Food was pretty good, service was horrible. It was New Years Eve so we expected delays but It took an hour and a half to get our food after ordering. We were packed in pretty tight definitely not 6 feet apart. and it was even a tighter squeeze to was get to the washrooms and they were dirty. Again the food was good, but waitress was defensive when asked what was taking our order so long. Instead of handling our expectations she made excuses and got defensive and argumentative. Went to La Trattoria Italian thinking it would be a great experience. Good food and service. WRONG! The food was nothing short of low class. We ordered the 4 course dinner. Steak medium rare. It came was over done. Returned for the correct steak. The next steak was green looking. We could not eat it. The pasta plate before our steak was a 3 out of 10. We asked for the owner/cook to come out. To say we were appalled by his appearance would be an understatement. His clothes looked like he had been wearing them for days at least. We ordered Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon. We got Woodbridge by Mondavi. The price online for Woodbridge by Mondavi was $26, we were charged $48. The waitress appeared to be overworked. She said the owner would not bring on extra help. We were tried just watching her run from table to table and having to busting them also. This is the first review on a restaurant we have ever done. I've driven by this place every week for a very long time. I finally decided to take my wife here when we were both in the area. Went in on a Wednesday night. We were the only ones, but the waitress was super polite, funny, and welcoming. The decor inside is... interesting. Part of it is Italian, part of the wall mural looks like it wants to come out of the wall and eat you. Nice wine list, great looking menu. Foccacia bread to start, which was a little overcooked and very crispy. We followed up withthe bruschetta, which was absolutely delicious. My wife ordered the chicken parm (not on the menu) and she found it a little under breaded for her tastes, but the veggies were nice. Unfortunately she found 3 hairs on her plate and couldn't eat anymore of it. The waitress took it away for her, took it off her bill, and asked if she wanted anything else. I had the cornish game hen. It was okay. Was supposed to be sage, garlic, and parsley, but was mostly salt and pepper. The meat itself was cooked well, decent portion size. Dessert was creme bruelle. Slightly disappointed with this. The burnt sugar was a little under burnt, and was just one big piece which wouldn't crack. Cold custard underneath (I prefer it warm) was tasty enough. read more

Terrible service. 45 minutes for bread. Couldn't get any water at the table so I finally got up and served the table myself. The starter salad took an hour to arrive and was warm, limp and grossly overdressed, or maybe the lettuce has started to liquify? Disgusting. I can't say enough good things about La Trattoria restaurant. The service was warm, friendly and welcoming. They placed the napkins in our lap and brought out focaccia bread and oil which was lovely. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer and the batter was perfect, seasoning spot on, and the dipping sauce was divine (I think homemade). The main course was phenomenal. I ordered the Gnocchi Russa and couldn't have made a better selection. The gnocchi was perfectly tender, and the sauce was the ideal balance of cream and tomato. I ordered a cocktail which was perfectly poured. The ambience was romantic with very Italian-style finishings, and romantic Italian jazz to fit the mood. What was even more impressive, when our server Bethany found out it was my bf's birthday she brought him a birthday card at the end of our meal. So sweet and thoughtful! This place has the best Italian food you're going to find in Maple Ridge. The dowdy building which houses the restaurant belies the quality of the food and the pleasantness of the ambience, both of which are reasonably enjoyable. Their beef carpaccio was well presently and nicely seasoned, as was the bocconcini salad. The veal was bland but the pollo ghiotone was surprisingly good. The only significant downside to the place is the Italian easy-listening pop music which oozes from the sound system; honestly, no one likes that crap, not even Italians. Two words are the key to heaven at this delightful little Italian place. Stuffed Pasta. They have a platter for two or more that is incredibly amazingly awesome. Also the bread with the balsamic vinegar and oil is delicious. Very attentive service. It doesn't get too noisy. They also accomodate weird requests, like when my husband's uncle decided he *needed* a cheese, meat and cracker platter at a birthday dinner. Totally not on the menu but darned if it didn't appear as if it might have been. Desserts are scrumptious but I totally make a better creme brulee. Good selection of wine. read more

Terrible service and less than satisfactory food. Our dishes were something we would expect from Boston Pizza or White Spot but not an authentic Italian restaurant. We were shocked since this restaurant has been in Maple Ridge for quite some time and we were anticipating good food. Both my boyfriend and I had small portions. My plate which included scallops and mushrooms had four tiny scallops in the entire meal and one piece of a mushroom. My boyfriend ordered chicken and pasta and his pasta was over cooked. Our server did not come to our table even once after we received our meals and we did not get any bread, which everyone else in the restaurant had. Our glasses of water were empty and not refilled. We look young and because of this, we believe that we received poor service. This is very disappointing and reflects poorly on the staff. Obviously neither one of us will recommend this restaurant to anyone. Just up the road is a very good restaurant called The Paliotti's if you are looking for a good Italian restaurant. read more

I wish I knew the name of the owner at this restaurant. I cannot contact him or her on email because they obviously have not kept up with social media's. I am having an issue with rating the restaurant based on our experienced on October 20, 2018. We were a group of 10 and had made reservations for 6:30. Upon our arrival the place was very busy. There was another group of 10 or 12. Our server a lady was very polite and good. There was another older gentleman who did not crack a smile during the time we were there which was over 3 hours. Our poor server was sitting people, trying to take orders, cleaning table, I even saw her on her 4 cleaning the floor. She was bouncing like a ping pong ball. It was not very relaxing to watch her. I served water to our table. We tried to accommodate our server because she was so busy when it came time to place our order. I don't have the words to explain the situation. I have never seen anything like this. I questioned the lack of employees, she explained that one employee was unreliable, and the other was on holidays for few weeks but would come back soon. Still it was not a pleasant relaxing experience. La Trattoria was one of our favorites for many years. I had not been there recently but was looking forward to go with our family. I have lived in Maple Ridge all my life and had never been to eat at La Trattoria on Dewdney Trunk at 223 Street before. Thought I would try it for a new experience for a change. Other than the dead moth on the side plate on the table next to the window (which the server zipped off the table immediately before my but hit the chair), I was very happy with everything except price. Horrible, horrible service. A Thursday night with a party of 20. They knew we were coming. A few customers other than us. It took over an hour for some of us to get our drinks. Two and a half hours to get our entrees and half of us never received our appetizers. One server blaming the other server, food spilled on the back of one of us, wrong drinks.... One ordered a clam dish and at the two and a half hour mark after ordering, he was told no clams.........Owner did not engage us, other than through a server saying we should have ordered a set menu. True Italian restaurant! Love the platter appy and we fight over the crostini Calabrese. All the pasta is cooked perfectly and I have to take leftovers home so I can enjoy the tiramisu because it finishes the meal. Staff are friendly, food is hot, fresh and doesn't take too long. Horrible service will never be back. On October 6, 2018, my husband and I were seated at a table for two in an area by the bar that should not have a table situated. My husband was constantly being bumped into by other patrons as they made their way to the bathroom and by the servers as they navigated the other tables. In addition, it took nearly 2 hours for our food to be served. Our server told me he would give us a free beer as an apology for the slow service. However, when we asked the other server for our bill, she berated our server (load enough for the entire restaurant to hear) for not charging us for what was to be a free beer and added it to our bill. What a horrible unhappy person. She really should remove herself from the service industry. Needless to say, we did not leave a tip and will never be back and we tell everyone what a horrible service experience we had.
