I've driven by this place countless times ... never been. Not sure why because the food always smells AMAZING. All it took was smelling some delicious food on a walk with my dog that I knew I had to stop in for dinner at the saloon! We ordered a carry out on a slow day in October (Carry out isn't always available during the busy season) and the food was made prompt and fresh. My boyfriend talked to some workers and everyone was friendly and welcoming, making him feel like he was already family. Because we didn't bring much food for our quick overnight trip at our cottage, we ordered a little bit of everything. The reuben egg rolls were fried perfectly. I liked that they were cut into a reasonable size, making it easy to share with a group. For dinner I opted for a chicken caesar wrap. Boyfriend surprised me by getting me sweet potato fries for an additional charge. I loved that it came with a cinnamon butter dip. I was so surprised and so happy! It was DELICIOUS. Boyfriend got the goldielocks wrap, which came with crispy chicken vs grilled chicken in the chicken caesar wrap. I preferred the crispy chicken, but both were great! Total was about $50 for the two of us. A little pricier, but still enough food for at least two meals. Will definitely be back again! read more

Super fun and convenient dive bar just off of Houghton Lake has great burgers and a huge bar. We ate here on a warm summer night and it was worth the 30 minute wait. The staff was really helpful and the food was great. I had the mushroom Swiss burger and my son had the Santa fe steak salad. Both were awesome, and so was the pretzel and cheese sauce. They have a small deck and many views of the lake plus TVs with sports or NASCAR. They do allow kids, just not at the bar, plenty on the menu for them If you are looking for something to kill time waiting for a table, cross the street to the amazing park on the lake. What an eclectic place. Definitely a party spot on the weekends you can just tell. Had to wait until 11:00am for them to open but it was totally worth it. I enjoyed the egg rolls and spicy bloody mary that have been reviewed by many before and they did not disappoint. We Sat outside eon the patio. There was some road noise but the view was worth it. Loved looking at Houghton lake. There were booths inside as well but it was a beautiful day to be outside and our waiter Toby did an excellent job checking in on us, getting our drinks refilled quick and being quick to all our questions. My husband had the burger and was also happy with the meal. Very affordable and a comfortable spot to stop in at. We stopped in for lunch on our way to spicers to winterize our boat. The reviews seemed very positive compared to some of the other restaurants in the area. We could seat ourselves and took a table near the windows to admire houghton lake. Our server Preston was quick to take our beverage order and quickly took our food order. He recommended the Rueben egg rolls which I ordered they were delicious. My dining companion order the broski burger he felt like it was ok not the best but over all it was good. The steak fries were cut thinner and they were crisp and well seasoned. The eatery is your typical bar but has a nice friendly staff and seemed very clean. Terrible experience at this place. I wanted the cowboy burger and it came in a half pound and they had some other burgers that were a third pound so I asked if I could get it in a third pound and they said yes. After the bill came I noticed that it was the same price as the half pound. I asked the waitress why this was and she told me that is just their policy, this is just crappy policy and I hope others take heed and look elsewhere, this is bad business and they don't deserve yours. She could of at least told me before ordering and I would gotten the half pound and took the other half with me, very poor policy and just ripping people off. read more

Been here a few times and haven't been disappointed yet. We were in the mood for some good fish and chips and this place delivered! Our dinner was hot and and the portion was perfect. The Cobb salad was just as good, with an enormous amount of toppings on it. Service is always spot on, our waitress was quick to our table and quick to bring out our drinks. Was there Saturday for lunch . Bragged to all my friends about the food and showed up with 5 friends. My double bacon cheeseburger came to table with cold , fries and meat was room temperature. Everyone's food was hot but mine. I sent it back saying , it was sitting In window too long and fries and burger was cold. It was returned I think from the microwave. Waiter said it sat forever waiting for a wrap of another of my guests and that's why it was cold. Really!! Send the hot food to the table and if something is taking a while send it later. Was a $17 double bacon cheeseburger . Always loved your burgers but am not excited anymore to come back . Waiter said it happened twice while I was there. I think it was the waiter that was the problem. They should have made another burger and fries instead of burn the bun and dry it out. Not impressed on this trip. read more

So food here is top notch tasted amazing! The menu is incredible so many things to choose from and decently priced, I would say it's typical for an up north restaurant. However, with that being said I was completely disgusted by the amount of dead bugs and flys located within their large front windows. My husband and I sat in one of main windows looking over the lake and the entire flat wooden area was covered in dead bugs. I understand this is a water front town bugs exist but they should be vacuumed up nightly, or at least weekly. These were full of cobwebs and had been there for quite sometime. We also had to constantly shoo numerous flies away as we tried to enjoy our meal. These issues were in plain sight and neglected to be cleaned makes me wonder about areas unseen. read more

Excellent find in Houghton Lake. Viewed their website and the menu, food pictures, and decor drew us in. Ordered a buffalo wrap and Cobb salad. Both tasty and the food came out quickly; chicken was tender and juicy. Had to ask for our waitress after sitting for a while or would have given 5 stars (and we were early before the rush). She said the hostess didn't tell her she sat us (even though we watched her walk by us a couple of times). We received great service for the rest of the visit. I have already recommend to friends and will visit again. Booths on the front wall in the winter are cold. Rest of the restaurant seemed to be warmer. read more

The fries were square looking, very thin and hard as a rock. I tried two and could not eat any more of them, I mentioned it to the waiter, instead of him offering something else or maybe trying another order to see if any better he only said that was how they are and was sorry, :( If me, I would have tried the first two suggestions then I would have offered to take something off the price, with so many places in Houghton Lake to eat at this was not the right way to handle this.
