We enjoyed our dinner at the pour hse. It have every kind of bar food you could want and great beer selection. We had brisket mac and cheese, Ruben, brussel sprouts, slider and salmon wrap. All good food... Our favorites were Brussels spouts and they're topped with bacon and drizzle is spicy and the brisket mac and cheese ...so good. Too dark for pictures. Doesn't look like much from the outside but awesome from inside! Great craft beer draft selection and impressive menu. We had smash burgers and perch sandwiches which were great and will get again. Three of us went here for dinner, what a HUGE mistake!! Food took "FOREVER" to come out, I ordered a turkey ruben, bread was spongy and not the usual type of bread you would get on a ruben, wasn't grilled, ordered onion rings as instead of chips, was quoted a cheaper price being was with a sandwich but cost $5.75 for about 5 gross, nasty, oily, undercooked rings. My son did same thing and said his was same way, only took a bite out of one and could not eat any more of them, same with my son, we left the rest in the basket, you would think the waitress would have wondered why and asked if there was something wrong with them, neither of us wanted to complain so didn't say anything. We love the Pour House! We go there every chance we get when we are in town. The Food is excellent, staff is very friendly, and we love when they have karaoke (with White Chocolate) and when they have live bands. Prices are great too! Come full capacity and summer they're gonna tank. We were seated 30 minutes ago. In the time it took for our server to come back and ask for our orders, my husband was able to finish his beer. In the time from asking for our check instead to her actually bringing it, I was able to read Yelp reviews and wrote this one myself. PS ... Told her the soda was flat - still on the bill. Hard pass, we are getting in the car and driving down the road to a place with better reviews, a better menu & and hopefully better service. We won't be back here. This is the 2nd time we've had to wait for food.....and I mean wait. We make dead runs of 30 miles away on a regular basis just to get the smash burger at the M-55. It has been the best smasher that I've been able to find and I am constantly on a quest to find the best one. Like the absolute best one of the DOZENS of places who say "we have the best smash burger"... it blows them away. HOWEVER.....This is the second time that we've considered walking out. It took 60 minutes to get the first burger to our table. That's right..... they came out one by one. Four burgers in all, mind you. The last one arrived 90 minutes after we had placed the order for all four. I'm not the smartest guy in the room, but wouldn't you just put eight patties on the grill and dump a pile of fries in the fryer and batch all four burgers in the order at once? The odd thing was that we had two tickets for our table and the burgers kept coming out on a rotating basis... One from my ticket, the next from the other ticket and then back to mine, etc... Whomever staffs the place has no clue what they are doing. This was Friday night on the Memorial day weekend. OBVIOUSLY the place is going to be ... packed and it was. Full capacity. The waitress said there were only two in the kitchen. I counted two working the floor and the bartender was slinging drinks. Looks like they had five people staffing the place and every table in the room was full. So, 90 minutes to fill the most basic ticket of an item that is a staple of the bar. Will I go back? ABSOLUTELY! Those smashers are legendary. However, ONLY when the body count is low in the bar. If the google search says "busier than ever" be prepared to wait. read more

Worst experience I have had at a restaurant in years. Group of 5 came in around 3PM they were not busy at all. Waitress can't took out drink order and returned quickly with them. Took out order which includes pretzel bites. Waited 10 minutes for those to come out. Had to ask about my salad, which I was told "I am waiting for them to make it". 4 people in the group had their food brought out around 30+ minutes after ordering. Was told that they did not have chili sauce for my Chili dogs. 30+ minute wait to be told what they thought was frozen sauce was pinto beans. Waitress could really care less, cook staff could care less. Absolutely horrible service. No salad takes 10 to 15 minutes to make. Food was great!! The service was horoable. We first ordered Drinks. My husband got his right away. Mine took about 30 minutes to get. Then we ordered food and that took a hour it little longer. The waiter was doing his job, but the bartender keep getting on the phone and walkinh outside thats why it took forever to get our drinks. Tried this place on a Friday night...just before the band started. Here's what happened...happiness and deliciousness! We saw the digital beer board and had a hard time choosing. Our waitress, Ashley, a newbie with two weeks under her belt, flagged down Matt, the Manager for a brew consultation. He knew his stuff! We picked put a couple of IPAs and were happy campers. We ordered the spicy shrimp appetizer. (See pic). Big shrimp with a tasty horseradish cocktail sauce. We ordered the all you can eat cod. It came with soup, salad and a choice of potato. (Again, see pics.) we tried the seafood chowder. It was chunky and creamy with lots of good fish and seasonings.) The cod was hot and the servings were generous. We loved the signature redskins. They were cooked with sautéed onions and seasoned to perfection. My husband tried the mesquite potato wedges and they were good too. Skins on and plenty of smoky flavor. No need for ketchup! The only critical comment I have is minor. The salad came out after our meal. No biggie and likely just our waitress getting her rhythm going. Needless to say, we'll be back. Stopped here for brunch on our last day up north. First time here and it will not be the last. The breakfast buffet although was priced at 8.99 a person is worth it. You will leave full. We tried the dessert, sausage links, pancakes, French Toast, sausage biscuits and gravy and were very satisfied. Service was perfect. We are taking a menu and will try dinner here soon. Aww, i'm torn. We'd read such great reviews and really wanted to like the place. The salads were so fresh and yummy. The mini corn dogs for kids was delicious. Green beans were unique and fabulous. Atmosphere was excellent and staff superb, the beer samplers were cheap and so much fun, but heres our beef: My battered jumbo shrimp was plain tasteless and fell apart. The mesquite potato wedges were too hard. The walleye was flavorless. Food (salads!) came an hour and 15 mins after we ordered em. Really such a shame. But maybe it was our fault for going on a Saturday at 6pm. The menu says you get seasoned fries with your meal and they were the most unseasoned fries I've ever gotten from a restaurant--no joke! I personally enjoyed my brisket and my water was fine, but I feel bad that our waitress (even though my food came out ten minutes later than my family's meals) had to deal with our problems when it was the restaurants fault. In what world, can you not handle; not being busy and having only 8 customers in the place. We stopped in on our way back home, first time in. Waited at least 15 minutes before the waitress wasn't super busy to take our drink order. Even though I don't think anyone in there had a clue what she was doing because it seemed we weren't the only ones waiting. When we were finally asked what we would like to drink, my husband and I ordered the same exact drink. Took her at least another 10 minutes before she brought the sodas we ordered. Then when we finally take a drink, mine wasn't even right. We both ordered regular sodas and I received a diet. How in the world do you get the same order WRONG ?! Was in Houghton Lake recently and was happy to see a bar with a sign saying "MI craft beer." My wife and I went in to check it out. The bar was your usual rustic, up north watering hole, except they did have 20 taps of good beer. We ordered a drink and dinner. The bartender didn't seem to know much about the beer. The beer I ordered was about 5% ABV and the menu indicated a 16 ounce pour, but I received my beer in a 10 ounce tulip glass. Huh? The food was average. I had fish & chips. Chips? Frozen, undercooked fries. Meh! While we were eating, one of the locals at the corner of the bar started feeling his beers. He had probably been there all day, and he had his minions with him. He called the bartender "bitch" about a dozen times while we were there, and he was basically a loud, obnoxious, drunk a-hole who should have been thrown out of the bar. He was obviously a regular. He's not doing the business, or the Houghton Lake Chamber of Commerce any favours. This customer must be very important to the Pour House, because they're keeping him at the expense of growing their business. We'll skip this place next time we're in Houghton Lake. read more

The potato selection included traditional french fries and pan fried red skin potatoes, as well. Really, really bad "Sunday brunch." Scrambled eggs smelled and tasted awful. Make a strong effort to not visit this place for food. I believe they may have stopped serving Sunday brunch but I can't imagine how they'd be able to do much of anything if they can't make scrambled eggs and toast. The buffet bar was unattended to and mostly empty. There weren't plates. The coffee was awful and served in styrofoam cups. I visited Houghton Lake last year and the girl at the hotel counter pointed us in the direction of the Long Branch for dinner. She said it was the best in town. I'm glad we took her recommendation. I had the cod and it was delicious. Cooked perfectly and very tasty. The atmosphere was pretty good too. They had a band playing that night and they weren't half bad. During the band breaks a DJ played music (mostly hard rock). My most vivid memory was of some girl in her mid twenties absolutely ROCKING OUT to some Nickelback song. I've never understood people's obsession with either really liking or really hating Nickelback, but seeing that girl dance and headbang to it was worth every penny of my meal/drink costs. We actually had lunch there the next day and it was just as good as the night before only with a much quieter atmosphere. The same girls who were working there Friday night were already there on Saturday at noon so you could tell they actually care about the place with that combined with there attitudes. I give the Long Branch my strongest recommendation if you ever find yourself in the Houghton Lake area. read more

Employees not following the mask ruling for restaurants.. Cooks, no mask, bartender, no mask and she was delivering food to tables. Since WE are all mandated to wear masks entering every facility, how is this restaurant getting away with it.
