I recently left Austin, but from fall 2015 through August 2016 I had the pleasure of receiving adjustments from Dr Nick. I'm a pretty complicated case, between a car accident 21 years ago that makes my neck/head go out of place regularly, and an autoimmune condition that makes my muscles seize up terribly when it flares. Dr Nick was wonderful at working with all my issues and making sure I could come back for a readjustment if my muscles were too guarded the first time he tried. And Chelsea (front desk) has been warm, friendly, helpful and a lot of fun. I hope I can replace them now that I'm no longer in Austin! Highly recommend them. read more

I am new to the Austin area so having established doctors office in the area is not something that I had just yet. I found Doctor Nick online and after reading some of the reviews, I decided to give him a try. I came to him with severe pain/stiffness in my low back due to an injury that I had acquired two weeks before while working out/roller skating. I tried deep tissue shiatsu massage and stretching but the pain was relentless and wouldn't go away. Dr. Nick was able to significantly help me with my pain and movement after the first visit. I continued to go two more times over a two week period as prescribed by himself. I am now pain free and have complete flexibility again and ready to workout!!! When I arrived at "Back N' Place" the first appearance was very orderly and clean. I have been greeted with kindness every single time that I visited. The great thing about small offices like this one is the level of care and attention that they give each of their customers, you wont find that at an extremely busy office. i've been seeing dr.nick since july of 2011 and i highly recommend him to anyone that is looking for a doctor with a terrific and warm bedside manner,coupled with extensive knowledge of musculoskeletal issues and the talent to fix them. my first session with dr.nick was more than an hour long, and during that time he sat down with me for a lengthy consultation, xrayed me to better pin-point the source of my discomfort, and connected me a TENS Unit to loosen up constricted muscles. the session ended with the doctor discussing his treatment plan with me as well as giving me advice on how to stay comfortable through out the week. i walked out feeling a million times more flexible and strong and because of that i'm really grateful to have found such a talented doctor. considering how many mediocre/poor experiences i've had with doctors over the years, it's a revelation when i luck out and find a good one. dr. nick is definitely a great practitioner! read more

Dr. Nick is amazing. He's helped prevent migraines when I've been able to get to him at the onset. He has a unique & effective way of setting even the tiniest vertebrae at the very top of my neck into place. He's just plain good at what he does. Dr. Nick is great! He's very professional and friendly, and he can fix your back problems. Every now and then, my lower back will "catch" and I end up having to walk like Groucho Marx. my first appointment at back n place was great. I felt like my issues were really being taken care of, I was being listened to, and I was getting care that was really going to help me feel better. Which it did. I felt great after my first appointment. Lots of my issues went away, and I was feeling better. After that great experience, I was really looking forward to my follow up appointment, that way I could hopefully have my issues totally taken care of and would be healthy once again. But my second appointment was a total 180 change from my first one. I came into the office, had electrodes placed on my back in places totally different from where I did at my first appointment, and sat through an electrode treatment that was not doing anything for the area of my back that I had hurt. I tried re-explaining to the FRONT DESK associate that they were in the wrong place 2 separate times and that they weren't helping me, but had little adjustments made. The chiropractor that worked on me on the table did little to help my pain, either. She spent 3 minutes with me, basically just adjusting me all over, rather than concentrating her care on the area of my back and neck where I was having pain, even though she had my chart right in front of her and even asked where I was having pain. My follow up appointment felt all around rushed. I watched the person that came before me and after me receive twice as long of individualized care as I did, and asked multiple questions about their pain. The chiropractor listened to these clients, but not me. Was it because I was in between two people? Was it because I was younger than both of these other patients? I have no idea what the problem was, but I do know that I was not cared for in the manor that I was for my first appointment, nor did I receive care that was worth my $75 co-pay. I left my follow up appointment in significantly more pain than I came in with, and am still having my symptoms that were almost cured after my original appointment. After my second appointment I was asked to schedule a 3rd appointment, which I did not come to. I was not going to pay $75 more to see someone that wouldn't care for me the way I expected. I was beyond disappointed in the way I was treated at my second appointment at back n place and will never be returning. read more

I had a really good first impression of this place. I was a walk-in, and was seen to immediately. The location is super convenient. Chelsey, the receptionist, is wonderful and professional. Dr. Nick saw me very quickly, and he talked me through what he was observing about my condition. The office took care of insurance and ordered supplies through the insurance to help me. All in all, I was very satisfied with the experience. At my last visit, just before the adjustment, the doctor asked me a question. As I was answering, he got this glazed expression on his face and kept staring at my breasts. I miss a lot of social cues sometimes, but this was distracting enough that I nearly stopped to ask if there was something wrong. I've been in a lot of pain with a chronic condition, and I told myself that I needed to go through with the rest of the appointment. I won't be returning, and this really makes me angry, because now I have to find some new place that isn't as convenient and explain my stupid chronic condition again. I honestly would have given this place a much higher review for the price, the convenience, the receptionist, the efficiency and, initially, the doctor. I don't know if there's some other explanation for the doctor on that day... but I personally will not be going back there. read more

BEWARE!!!! My wife was in a car wreck and not at fault- the other party's insurance gave us a case number to get care of our choice. He bullied my wife into signing a document that gave him every penny and none ever to her or anyone else. He then wanted her to come in every day- ONGOING! I am a personal trainer and had neck pain after a training day (it hurt to turn my head). I went to see Dr. Nick and he is very friendly and makes you feel so comfortable! Marisee at the front desk is hospitable and informative as well :) Great environment to walk into...! I hadn't seen a chiropractor since I was a teenager and felt nervous bc the guy I saw when I was younger was really rough with my neck, that bad experience left me fearful with chiropractors, so I went to Dr. Nick a bit nervous. After a consult to find the root of the problem, Dr. Nick, worked out the muscle first and very gently adjusted my neck (I felt no pain in the process, was very relaxed and felt safe!) Honestly ALL neck pain went away! I woke up the following day with absolutely NO NECK PAIN!!! It's been a week later and my neck is still pain free!!! Really impressed with Dr. Nick's skill!! I've been going to chiropractors for ~15 years and Dr. Nick is the best! I have a stubborn spine and I usually have to tell new docs what technique they need to use because they're missing some of the adjustment. Not with Dr. Nick. I feel great every time I leave. He also goes above and beyond, massaging out knots first so that the adjustment is maximally effective. His demeanor is always friendly and Chelsea at the front desk is also great. He listened well and when after several appointments my pain was only lessened but not resolved, he consulted with and referred me to a colleague with a different technique. It has now been three weeks since I started my treatment and I am able to sleep through the night and work out 4 times a week again.
