As part of his recovery from surgery, my hound Charlie is coming here for physical therapy. He had a ruptured disc in his neck that was removed, and post surgery he is spending most of his time on crate rest. At our initial visit, Dr. Weinberg met with us, and Charlie just loved her. She talked with us about the recommended treatment, nutritional supplements, and a specialized harness that would help with walking and lifting Charlie. So far, Charlie's had cold laser treatments. Next time he will have hydrotherapy. The office is very clean with dog friendly features like large, comfy dog beds, water dishes, and a cookie jar on the counter (Charlie's favorite feature). There are also human friendly features too like a coffee maker, water dispenser, chairs, and TV. On the wall, there is a chalkboard with the names of all their patients for the day. I appreciate all the little details they have done to make everyone comfortable. It's kind of fun to see all the patients come in, and all the owners we have met are very friendly. Overall, it's been a very positive experience during a stressful time.

Chiclet at the front desk being spoiled.

My dog and I love this place. Dr. Contreras is wonderful and her team is the best. My fur baby feels so much better thanks to them.

This facility does a fine job and they handle my pets with enough care. I do think they're a bit on the pricey side compared to where I've been previously. I'm new to the area and have been very stressed dealing with my dog's declining condition. The staff member who helped me (I believe her name was Jessi or Jessica) was incredibly kind and compassionate. Even though they were close to closing, she took the time to listen to my concerns and understand the situation. Unfortunately there wasn't a veterinarian available to see my dog, but she still went above and beyond to help. She suggested several nearby clinics and even helped call them to check for appointment availability. Because of her help, I was able to secure an appointment without having to rush to an expensive emergency clinic. I truly appreciated her kindness and willingness to help during such a difficult time. Even though I've never brought my dog here before, this experience alone made a very positive impression on me. If I adopt another dog in the future, I would definitely consider bringing them to New Haven Animal Hospital.

Back of the house staff, including our attending vet (Dr. Wilson), was kind and easy to talk to. What lacks is the front of the house staff. They need more adequate training in the discharge and vet hospital protocols. They also are not the warmest people to talk to. Asked for a prescription fill on the phone and was told to upload the hard copies provided unto Chewy, but once I informed them it wasn't acceptable due to pharmacy regulations I was met with a dismissive tone and attitude. Not the kind of treatment you want when going to a facility to tend to your pets at their lowest times. The front staff member, Erica, insisted it was approved already. I asked if it was actually approved electronically and that's when she paused and went to check. Maybe check before answering so confidently? I even told them in the exam room that I would be sending the prescription request over to the office before leaving. She could have simply told me kindly she will let the doctor know as soon as she's free instead of rudely claiming how they are super busy and they'll get to it when they get to it. I would have had much more respect with that response. I'm a healthcare provider and would NEVER come off that dismissive to a patient of mine. Especially for such a simple matter. Unprofessional to say the least.

As soon as they were able to see her, they immediately did a blood work, shot of anti biotics & B12 and IV fluid treatment all for a fraction of the cost of other clinics. The following day, my friend got a call and had explained the results and what needed to be done. My fur baby is doing a lot better from the time that my friends first brought her to the vet. They are very accomodating and really easy to talk to. The only thing is that they are super busy and you need to constantly call to get an appointment. My drive here is an hour from my place but to me, it is well worth it.

I've been denied twice in a row at their evening clinic. The "owner" denies anyone who isn't her friend. She makes exceptions for her regular clients and is very quick to dismiss others. She stands next to the phone doing nothing and yells at busy workers to answer it instead, which explains why they never pick up. The "owner" is always talking to clients about nonsense while there are lines of people waiting to be seen or even just to get through the door. Laura the tech, on the other hand, is always helpful. When she sees the "owner" messing around, she quickly steps in and gets actual work done. Frankie the receptionist is a little rude as well and seems annoyed when people come in and the list is already full. I've seen people walk straight in, go to the back to talk to the "owner," and get seen or helped while others wait patiently for hours. Their prices are very reasonable, and most of the staff is okay, but the "owner" seems like she doesn't know what she's doing. It looks like she got the job just because she's related to the doctor. Cherry the doctors intern has even stated that the "owner" does not have any license to work in the vet field. Dr.Rodriguez is great, she can do wonders with a better staff on her side.

I took my dog, Billfred, to this veterinary clinic on 7/8 because he was bleeding from his mouth…read more My regular veterinarian was completely booked, so I had no choice but to seek care elsewhere. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I would not recommend this clinic. I felt like the focus was more on making money than on identifying and treating the actual problem. My dog was seen by Dr. Austin, who performed her initial exam in the back instead of in the exam room with me present. I found this unusual since every other veterinarian I've been to has examined my pet in front of me. I specifically mentioned that Billfred had rotten teeth and asked that they be checked because I was concerned they could be causing the bleeding. Dr. Austin told me that his teeth were "the least of our worries" and instead recommended extensive blood work, including fecal testing. I was quoted approximately $500 for routine lab work or $1,000 for STAT labs. I agreed to the routine labs because I wanted to help my dog. Later that same evening, Billfred started bleeding again. This time I was able to locate the source myself--it was clearly coming from one of his bad teeth. That left me confused and frustrated. If the source of the bleeding was his tooth, why wasn't that identified during his exam? Why were expensive lab tests recommended before ruling out the obvious issue I had specifically pointed out? It also made me question how thorough the examination really was since it was performed out of my sight. The following day, 7/9, I called the clinic and asked to speak with a manager to express my concerns. I was told the only thing they could do was refund the office visit because Dr. Austin is the owner of the facility. While I appreciate the refund, it did not address my concerns about the quality of care or the unnecessary expenses I incurred. As a pet owner, I expect my concerns to be heard and for the most likely causes of a problem to be thoroughly evaluated before recommending costly diagnostic testing. Unfortunately, that was not my experience here, and I left feeling disappointed and frustrated. Based on my experience, I would not return to this clinic or recommend it to others.
