Lucy, always in our hearts. Rest in peace

We are extremely thankful Dr. Moraes was available for us when our beloved Lucy needed help exiting the physical world. She was kind, gentle, and her soft voice was very comforting and compassionate, all while explaining the process. Our Lucy passed peacefully on 1/6/26. We also received a very thoughtful condolence card which shows her caring heart. As pet parents, no one ever wants to have to make the difficult decision to say goodbye via euthanasia. If we find ourselves in that situation in the future with our other pets we will definitely call Guiding Light & Dr. Moraes.

I can't say enough about Dr. Moraes! They worked us in on a Saturday night when Pepper started failing rapidly. Though I knew it was coming, you're never completely prepared. Dr. Moraes was compassionate, professional and just a great human. Though the whole experience is emotionally devastating, this Company made the experience less painful and we couldn't have asked for more. If I could give 10 stars I would....

We had to put down our 16 yo kitty recently and used Guiding Light. Dr. Moraes was kind and compassionate. Having this done at home didn't stress our kitty and he was at home in our loving arms.

Our Sweet Riley.

We called today as our little precious sweet Riley had struggled all night to breathe. The medications for her heart had stopped working and she was in pain and we knew it was time to let her go. The Dr. made time for us within 2 hours to be at our home so she didn't have to endure more. We were emotional wrecks having to make this call so quickly, however the Dr. was so kind and so sweet with Riley being so caring with her and with us. We picked her favorite spot to sit and watch everyone walking by and she was able to be loved on and put in a calm state before we let her go! We have never used a home service like this in the past, however we will only ever use them again. Specifically Guiding Light. Riley was able to have the peaceful, and dignified passing she deserved for all the love she gave to us.

Doctor Dior Moraes is an angel. I could not give her a better description. Such a compassionate and caring soul. She is with you as you grieve the process and is so understanding in the midst of a stressful time. She brings an air of comfort with her soft-spoken ways. Step by step she explains the process. She spoke to my Eddie as well as she was administering the medicine saying what a good boy he is. She flows physically, her actions are soft and smooth, not jarring or apprehensive. I could not have asked for a better experience than with using Guiding Light, such truth in the name. I am forever grateful for Dr. Moraes and her services. Many rewards are laid in Heaven for her. I wish her and her family the best life has to offer.

My sweet boy Rza. May he rest in peace

My husband and I decided to put our sweet boy dog down due the progression of his aggressive lymphoma. It was beyond difficult to make this decision, and Guiding Light supported us throughout the process. First off, Dee was empathic, informative, and efficient. This was our first time experiencing this and Dr. Moraes answered all of our questions in such a caring way. She took her time to get Rza as comfortable as possible. She explained every single step and explained the reasoning behind it as well. She gave us time to say goodbye to our sweet boy and we never felt rushed. Thank you Dr. Moraes for creating a peaceful experience for our sweet Rza and both my husband and I.

From the moment Dr. Dior entered our home, an aura of calm peace was felt! She was kind, calm and so gentle with our precious Bailey Jo as she helped her cross the Rainbow Bridge. Since then Dr. has continued to be a source of strength as I deal with my grief. I am so grateful, and certainly highly recommended her. Thank you, Dr....for touching our lives in such a profound way. Many blessings ! jay navarro

This is our Max. We miss him so much.
Zana K.

We were desperate for an alternative to a waiting room full of animals waiting for care. Dr. Moraes was able to make our family a spot and we could not appreciate her more. She treated our family as her own and was sweet and tender with our Maximus in his final minutes with us. I could not recommend this business more unless they made 6 stars! Thank you for everything!

To the best love of our lives for the last 10 years

I do think they're a bit on the pricey side compared to where I've been previously. We will continue to go here given the close proximity and the good enough care we get.

I'm new to the area and have been very stressed dealing with my dog's declining condition. The staff member who helped me (I believe her name was Jessi or Jessica) was incredibly kind and compassionate. Even though they were close to closing, she took the time to listen to my concerns and understand the situation. Unfortunately there wasn't a veterinarian available to see my dog, but she still went above and beyond to help. She suggested several nearby clinics and even helped call them to check for appointment availability. Because of her help, I was able to secure an appointment without having to rush to an expensive emergency clinic. I truly appreciated her kindness and willingness to help during such a difficult time. Even though I've never brought my dog here before, this experience alone made a very positive impression on me. If I adopt another dog in the future, I would definitely consider bringing them to New Haven Animal Hospital.

They are kind over the phone and in person. The Vet/doctor seemed very kind, very patient, and basically providing you the time and info you deserve since you're paying for their time and knowledge. I don't get a sense of rush or belittling. He was basically wanting me to ask him questions and wanting to help me with anything I had concerns about. I felt I didn't have to wait for him very long while in the exam room. He was patiently waiting for me and the assistant to finish signing documents. Only small set back for me was that my appointment was at 9:30 and my dog wasn't seen until 9:50. So I sat and waited in the lobby. Fortunately I was in no rush. I'm just always nervous at first time appointments and unsure how it would go for my fur baby. I was informed that walk in appointment/exams are more expensive than when you make an appointment. First time appointments they charge for an exam fee in addition to the vaccines I needed. It kind of deterred me, considering another place I found didn't charge for exam fees but what I appreciated was that they had an available appointment the next day. Their vaccine fees seem to out compete the other location. I figure a first time exam should be useful anyway, and it was. :) I have nothing else to compare to. I hope I made the right choice coming here. It felt like it though. The Vet seemed very honest and I appreciate that.

He hadn't eaten or drank since probably Sunday. He vomited a few times Monday, so I made an appointment for Tuesday morning. I hadn't heard anything by 2:30p.m., so I called for an update. I was on hold for 20 minutes. Then they tell me a bunch of blood tests they want to run and they want to give him some fluids because he's dehydrated. I approve everything. They tell me he's stressed out and may need to sedate him to do the blood tests, I approve that as well. They call me back at 4pm and tell me that they can't do the tests because "he didn't want it and it's too late in the day to sedate him". So they want me to schedule another appointment. I ask if he'll be ok waiting since he hasn't eaten or drank anything for so long. They tell me they'll ask the doctor about a possible appetite stimulant to go home with and let me know when I pick him up. An appetite stimulant when they haven't figured out why he's throwing up??? Then she asks "are you going to make the appointment soon?". I say yes and then head over to pick him up. But I've already decided on my way there that I'm just going to take him to the emergency vet as soon as I pick him up. They charged me $91 for an exam, when all they did was weigh him and stress him about by making him sit in a cage for hours dehydrated and probably throwing up there too. When they brought out my cat, they didn't even ask about bringing him back or anything. Just said "here you go". If you love your pet, please do not bring them here, EVER!

I've stayed with them 5 years because I can get my pet's records online which is incredibly convenient and the staff (not the doctor) have been so awesome! Every visit I get the vet -- I can't figure out why she went into this field. It's like she doesn't even like animals but when I think I am done with them I get to see someone who actually seems to care about pets or I get the sweetest most caring vet tech and I just stay because of them. I can't even begin to describe the staff as they make you and your pet feel really cared for versus the veterinarian making you feel like an inconvenience. When we saw our cat's quality of life turn for the worse after other vet visits (losing control of her faculties in her bed, not eating or drinking), I decided to take her Atlas because I already an account there and figured we could trust them with our final decision. I couldn't understand why the vet was so unhappy with life that day. She flicked and poked at my sweet cat and wanted to stabilize her when I already went through tests and scans (and brought the paperwork). To top that off, I asked for a paw print before she was cremated but they mistakenly cremated her before doing that. I couldn't waste my energy even getting angry because we can't bring her back, but unfortunately, my daughter was waiting for this keepsake (my daughter has been wearing the cat collar as a bracelet ever since we had to euthanize) so another sort of grieving in the house for us. The staff apologized and gave us a refund. 5 years I've stayed with Atlas because of these mixed feelings with the vet versus the staff. I am sorry to let go of the staff who have always been so kind, courteous, and empathetic. My whole family and I are super glad we won't have to see this veterinarian again. I hope we can find another facility to take my two dogs.
