The "beer list" was simply a board that read "IPA, Ale, Lager," and they were already out of the IPA. I usually enjoy Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, but both were mediocre here. If you're searching for a refined or classy winery experience, this isn't it--keep driving. But don't be fooled! We had an amazing experience and definitely recommend Bacchus. The owner was very kind and introduced us to the winery, showing us around and explaining how they do things. We opted for a tasting of both the red and white wines (complimentary!) and sat in a high top table at the tasting area adjacent to the shop. The owner explained each wine's name and flavor when he brought the trays over. We had so much fun! Each one was delicious and we had a great time tasting & talking.

Being cat people, my friend and I especially loved visiting with the winery cat who was making himself at home in one of the chairs. After the self guided tasting and pairing, we did go to the bar to taste a couple of their other wines that weren't a part of the flight and we were then able to interact with the owners a bit which is always my favorite part of visiting a winery. It's located down a gravelly path, with cute signs from their cat Nutter. There's an indoor tasting area and seating, as well as outdoor seating. I decided to do their 8 option tasting and really enjoyed learning about Virginia's wines and grapes, having recently moved here from the Pacific Northwest. Out of all of the wines I tasted, my favorites were the Duo (white viognier/chardonnay blend), the Founded 1734 (red blend), and the Vin Gris (merlot/cab franc blush). Bonus, you get to keep the cute glass after your tasting! This was a great place to visit, run by a super friendly couple, with many great wines. I will definitely be back!
