This is a beautiful little winery, but unfortunately there's practically no wine to buy. We went this past Sunday - arrived at opening- and they were already sold out of every single wine that has chambourcin in it with the exception of one, the sangria. So we got two flights and sampled the wines they did have in stock. All of them were quite sweet. The one we enjoyed was the sangria, and we pictured warming it up for the winter since it has cinnamon notes. So we went to close out the tab and purchase three bottles - and we were told they literally had two left. So we bought them, which resulted in zero wines left with chambourcin. How weird. Pluses are- they allowed our dogs, has beautiful bathrooms, and allowed you to bring your own food! read more

Just to preface this Review, I just moved here from the Napa Valley - Sonoma region of California. Even though my expectations were low, there was only one out of nine of the wines that I could choke down. Now you like extremely sweet wine that lacks complexity this might be your place. The Pinot Grigio actually tasted fairly good which deserves the one star, but it went downhill from there. The winery is a very beautiful place for picnics and the young lady serving the wine was quite delightful. I've had a few good Virginia wines, but for my taste, this is not the place. read more

Did the Eve's Haunted Garden: A Halloween Wine Pairing Experience. My daughter just turned 21 and wanted her to have a fun experience sampling different types of wine. It was a cute experience but the setup wasn't really prepared for the windy weather so a lot of it was falling over. Unfortunately there was a significant issue with the food pairing. My daughter has a tree nut allergy, and we asked them when doing the fig, prosciutto and cheese pairing that there were no nuts and were told definitely nuts. 2 minutes later they catch us at the next station and advise there are nuts in it. We ask which kind as she's eaten it at this point and depending on the nut this is an issue. Another minute and they come back with an either or of pecan or walnut. We left and went straight home to give her allergy medicine and monitor her with her EPI pen. Understandably this was an unexpectedly stressful end to what should have been an otherwise fun evening. They have a hand out listing the wines and food pairings and that also did not make mention of nuts. read more

This review is for the wine tasting, and only the wine tasting. I came to Eden Try without really knowing what to expect; they are definitely a wedding destination...but how is the wine? Well, I can happily report the wine is every bit as good as many surrounding wineries. Eden started off as a private home, but it was so lovely it turned itself into a wedding destination - and a winery on top of that. They have 1 acre of grapes, and outsource the rest of their grapes from VA. The tasting room is a small building off to the side (NOT the main home). But as I was walking around, I was beckoned to visit, and a friend & I proceeded with our tasting. Viognier: Soft honey notes; I liked it...and I'm not even a Viognier fan! Vidal: OK Rose: Semi sweet; pretty good. Merlot: Not my favorite but OK. 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon: No that's not a typo - this really is 10 years old. VERY nice. Sangria: Absolutely awesome; the cinnamon notes reminded me of a mulled wine. read more

What a beautiful property! Their tasting room is a small little cottage, next to a beautiful home, and a beautiful barn that is used for weddings and other events. They are open April-November for tastings. You have the option to do a half tasting or a full tasting. There is also a price difference between the two, but it's definitely worth doing the full tasting. My boyfriend and I have the Virginia Wine Pass and they do accept it here. It's is BOGO tastings if you have the wine pass! Linda and Gary (the owners) were awesome! Loved having Linda do our tasting, as she gave a wonderful description of her wines, and she was able to answer any questions we had! We went to this winery while staying in the area. It was very nice. Music playing in the background. The grounds were nicely manicured. We did a tasting which was vey informative and private. The prices for the tasting & wine slushes was very reasonable. They had very delicious wine slushy like an adult slurpy. Yum! There wasn't any food options so bring a lunch. This was the 2nd winery we visited during our weekend visit and it was the best. I highly recommend Eden Try. read more

Showed up without reservations for a group birthday party. 9 women with a lot of snacks and no idea what we were walking into. They owners were both very polite and recommended that we break into 2 groups so we could all have a good tasting experience. I don't typically drink wine and she gave me two recommendations. She offered a taste of both and then recommended I just get a glass of wine, rather than tasting 4 things I probably wouldn't like anyway. I tasted the Fig Leaf Red and the "Sin"-gria. Both were delightful and i decided to have a glass of the Sangria, based on our hosts recommendation. They set all of us up in the little gazebo outside with our snacks and we spent the day chatting and sharing bottles of wine. Highly recommend this quaint destination. We keep coming back to buy their wines. Every single wine they make is great. They are very friendly and knowledgeable about their wines as well. They won a gold medal this summer for one of their red wines. We must have a few cases of their wines by now, I lost track. They recently started selling cheese as well, which is also excellent. So, if you're really into fine wines and cheeses, this is the place to go. read more

If I could give Eden Try zero stars I would.... Back in 2019 I booked Eden Try for my wedding venue. My wedding date was supposed to be in May 2020. I called my wedding off in October 2019 after some terrible circumstances. I called Eden Try the first week of October telling them what happened and my reasoning for canceling. They refused to give me any of my money back that I had previously put down which was $5,300. Once covid hit, I called them back asking if there would be any way to get some of my money back because there wouldn't have been a wedding anyways with covid. They were extremely rude saying this has been a hard time for businesses and refused any refund. They do not care about their customers and I would not recommend any bride booking their wedding with them. read more

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU BOOK!!! I did not read the reviews and I completely regret it! Here is a list, your coordinator may try and lie about what is said, because mine did too. My wedding was at Eden Try Estates and while beautiful, not worth the hassle. On top of these complaints, I have to add EXTORTION to the list, I have a recording of the owner stating he was going to give our deposit back, but refused when he saw the negative reviews, and could sue us for libel! Everything in here is true and I have emails and paperwork to back it up. They also accused us of not cleaning up after ourselves in sections we weren't even it, (bridal cottage- we got married at the Marine Corps Museum). I did not read the reviews and I completely regret it! Here is a list, your coordinator may try and lie about what is said, because mine did too. 1. After we spoke initially and before I signed, they changed the linens policy and I had to purchase my own, adding $400 more than needed. Then they changed the floor plan last minute so I had extra linens not used that I couldn't return. 2. We had to contact them for the final payment, when we did get in contact, they acted like they were doing us a favor by extending the date back a week. 3. The owners are rude. They are unprofessional and push all their vendors on you. NOTE: if you don't use a preferred vendor, they will charge 375 PER VENDOR. 4. They don't want to give our $1500 deposit back because of -one missing corkscrew - supposedly one cigar butt - no trash removal even though there is no dumpster and it has to be taken to the trash. 5. You get NINE HOURS. My ceremony started at 3:30 and cocktail hour at 5:30 and I had from 1 pm. I had to beg to get into the site to set up. 6. I was insulted by Karen, who said I wasn't competent enough to plan my own wedding and told me I need a planner. 7. It took three months to get my contract, and that was through email, I never had a hard copy of this. I can be contacted to be a reference if necessary. It pains me to say this, but this was by far the worst wine tasting experience I've ever had. All of the wine had a weird taste to them. Maybe smokey? It's been many hours since the tasting and we still can't get the taste out of our mouths. Sorry. Very sweet couple and venue, but this wine just wasn't palatable. read more

This was hands-down one of the BEST wineries we've tried in Virginia. This is REAL wine. This is what wine should taste like. It doesn't have buckets of residual sugar, and doesn't try to cater to an unsophisticated palate. The venue is beautiful, and the service was par none. We enjoyed our time here immensely and absolutely will be back. If you're a fan of full-bodied reds, or semi-dry whites, you'll love it here! read more

My friend and I enjoyed a great wine tasting and then spent a lovely couple of hours sipping wine on the veranda. Beautiful, peaceful, relaxing venue. Linda and Gary were exceptional hosts and made us feel welcomed and at home. The wine was delicious - I had a hard time picking a favorite! If i could rate this place a zero, I would. Eden Try is the worst venue for a wedding. Granted, I was not the bride, I was however a guest. As soon as we pulled up to their muddy parking spot, that's when the crappiness began. First off, it had rained ALL week, in fact River Road, the road Eden Try is located on was flooded, so knowing that you would think they would have prepared better for the guests that were arriving. The parking lot was MUD-FILLED and guests were expected to walk from the muddy parking lot in their nice shoes to the barn without a walkway. Most ladies were wearing heels so of course it was hard to walk because our heels sunk into the mud. It would not have been a thoughtful gesture for the owners of Eden Try to put in a makeshift walkway so that the guests didn't have to traipse mud everywhere!! Secondly, it got dark very early and guests were expected to walk outside in the pitch black back to and from the muddy parking lot, and also to the designated smoker's area. Have they not heard of lights? Even solar lights that line the paths and driveway would have been a cost-effective method. Considering the outrageous amount they charge to rent the place, i know they could afford to do that. Someone could have a terrible accident not being able to see where they were going. Thirdly, I understand that the theme of the barn is supposed to be rustic, which is all well and good, but when the barn doors are open it leaves the bottom sliding rail exposed and a few people tripped over it that night, myself included. How is this supposed to be accessible to wheelchairs? Allbeit, i felt bad for the bride and groom because i know they weren't expecting all these discrepancies. If you are thinking of renting out this place, save yourself some time and look elsewhere. Save your well-earned money and go find a location that will go above and beyond to make your day special. I will NEVER, EVER recommend Eden Try to anyone. In a nutshell - THEY SUCK! read more

I'm not even sure where to start with this review...but I would absolutely discourage others from using Eden Try as their event site. It's pretty...yes. The barn is rustic...yes. The outdoor site is appealing...yes. However, the poor management and lack of professionalism from the owners and staff of Eden Try are not worth the stress and inconvenience despite having a seemingly adorable wedding venue. Linda is a pain...period. She's generally unresponsive unless she needs something (payment, etc) and was inconsistent with the information provided. We were told a lot of things during our initial meetings and conversations regarding wedding planning...and much of that changed as we got closer to the wedding. We were told we would have a private wine tasting and were later told it had to be scheduled at a specific time and was not private. For our rehearsal and wedding, the ceremony grounds and equipment were not maintained as they should be for an event site (grass not mowed, leaves not raked, chairs for the wedding were dirty). After our wedding, we contacted Linda to find out why our deposit had not been deposited and when it would be returned...however, we did not hear back. Instead, our deposit was cashed over a week AFTER the wedding. When we inquired about why it was not returned and just being cashed (paid it several months earlier), Gary provided no information over the phone about it. Instead, we were emailed a couple hours after the phone conversation (2 WEEKS AFTER our wedding) that there had been damage to a spigot on the property that we would be responsible for paying and that our deposit was being withheld because of it. When they finally responded to our phone calls, Gary (the owner) told my husband that they had pointed the damaged spigot out to one of our guests the day after the wedding. Apparently, that's how they thought we should be notified...the guest that they notified had no idea they were supposed to tell us...and even if they had, it was totally unprofessional that they did not contact us themselves and we were only told after we tried to contact them multiple times about the deposit. There was no proof or time/date stamp of the photos to prove that it occurred at our wedding...and the spigot was located in an area that our guests were not allowed to drive. The repairs were made before even telling us that there had been damage to begin with. Overall, I do not recommend using this site for your wedding venue. Our wedding planner said she would no longer be working with this site either because of multiple issues. If Gary would like to continue using the estate as a wedding venue, I highly suggest that they improve their professionalism and operational management. read more

Linda, Gary and their event coordinator Christina were amazing. Outside of a bit of rocky communications off the bat as they were off property, the Eden Try group kicked into high gear and were able to coordinate a beautiful, full on Friday night event in three days (catering, bar and music as well as special requests for flowers and food items). This is unheard of in the world of event planning. The graciousness of the owners, the beauty of their venue and the competence of their site coordinator and their vendors during the start of Fall wedding season made this evening at Eden Try truly special. The only downfall was the never ending bountiful rain God provided. The parking area got badly muddied. I would highly recommend working with this group for future events. Their barn and property is a beautiful backdrop for weddings, corporate events, social gatherings and parties. read more
