This review is for the wine tasting, and only the wine tasting. I came to Eden Try without really knowing what to expect; they are definitely a wedding destination...but how is the wine? Well, I can happily report the wine is every bit as good as many surrounding wineries. Eden started off as a private home, but it was so lovely it turned itself into a wedding destination - and a winery on top of that. They have 1 acre of grapes, and outsource the rest of their grapes from VA. The tasting room is a small building off to the side (NOT the main home). But as I was walking around, I was beckoned to visit, and a friend & I proceeded with our tasting. Viognier: Soft honey notes; I liked it...and I'm not even a Viognier fan! Vidal: OK Rose: Semi sweet; pretty good. Merlot: Not my favorite but OK. 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon: No that's not a typo - this really is 10 years old. VERY nice. Sangria: Absolutely awesome; the cinnamon notes reminded me of a mulled wine.

This week I am in Dulles, VA for work and I am staying at the Doubletree Sterling, VA. I ordered the side small salad and Seared Salmon. Sausage, eggs and pancakes. That hit the spot this morning before heading to work. I rated this restaurant Average and will continue to have breakfast in the morning. There is nothing bad to say about this place. It will definitely be a place that I will come back to for work. Rooms are clean and comfy. Although it is dated and well kept I have no complaints.

In my review notes, I requested a standard-level table away from the door. When we arrived, they were backed up so we had a bit of a wait. When we were seated, they placed us at the table closest to the door. I realized that I could feel the draft pretty strongly, so I *nicely* asked if we could move, and they replied that we would have to wait two hours to move and that they could've sat us immediately had I not requested a standard-level table. (Which I did for my mom, who is elderly.) A two-top sat down in the same row of tables just farther from the door directly after us, so I'm unsure why they couldn't have switched us. As such, I bundled up and dealt with it. The server knew how cold we were, and he said he actually felt bad because he'd get "relief" coming to our table, as it was significantly colder than the rest of the restaurant. With all that said, despite being frigid and having to dine with a coat on, the food was incredible. I've had several Thanksgivings out in recent years, and this one was my favorite. They had a special buffet in addition to their regular food. And the meats that came around were next level. I loved the spicy sirloin especially. I tried one of their special rum drinks, which was okay. The desserts were all amazing too. Between the two of us, we ordered five of them. I'd absolutely go back, but perhaps in the summer?

Took my brutha here to celebrate his birthday and it's basically an upscale carryout. A couple sets of (8) chairs outside and a few benches inside - all occupied. Plus, it's too chilly to be eating outside...so we took the food to his place up the street. No worries - food will be good, right?? First the good: That hearty smokiness of summertime barbecue wafted from the front door as I walked up, had me totally turned on. Service was excellent from the guy waiting on us. Now, the rest.... + The (full slab) beef ribs were dry, oversalted and tough. + The pound of lamb shank I ordered didn't taste like lamb. I actually thought they had forgotten to give me my order. Their smoking process shouldn't overwhelm the natural earthiness I was expecting - from lamb. + The fried chicken was moist and juicy with a nice crunch. Decently seasoned too. + The garlic potatoes tasted old. + Assorted sauces we good...enough. + Rolls are tasteless. I could've taken my brother to a thousand other places and spent far less than $89, and we were both disappointed with this one. The bag was heavy too so we were falsely encouraged initially. There's parking right next door but we parked in the gas station across the street and walked over. I won't be returning.

They were very disorganized. I had bought tickets to a chocolate and port tasting demonstration demonstration. They should have pulled everyone going to the class out separately.. The demo itself was great. The tasting garden was supposed to be from either 12 to 4 or 12 to 3 depending on what schedule you believed but I was there at 1 or 130 and places had already run out of food. There is a whole row that the restaurants didn't even show up. Show organizers need to regulate the type of tasting that goes into the room so there's a good balance of appetizers, sweets and savory. It appeared they had a good number of classes But it was sad very few people came. I would assume Carla Hall and Martha Stewart were much more crowded. I hope it gets better next year

When we were being brought to our seats, I noticed, toward the front of the restaurant, there were plenty of open tables but we were led all the way to the back. I had a funny feeling we wouldn't be greeted with random options of meat. The choices at the Salad Bar were less than usual. Made reservations 6 weeks in advance and we were brought all the way to the absolute back end of the restaurant. We very rarely saw a gaucho and our server had to ask us a few times what we were looking for to get a gaucho to come to the back of the restaurant. Even after all of that, the choices offered to us were very slim. the first thing I asked for was leg of lamb. By the time they got to us with the leg of lamb, it was nearly picked to the bone. Had to ask for a filet mignon and bacon wrapped filet. The bacon-wrapped filet was not a good cut of meat, had a lot of gristle in it, very hard to chew. The best two types of meat we had were the spicy sirloin and the flank steak. The flank steak nearly melted in my mouth. The filet mignon servings didn't taste like filet mignon at all. Most common filet mignon servings are 6-8 oz of meat and the servings provided to us were barely 2 oz in size and well overcooked. Not exactly sure what happened but they were not up to par that night. The end bill being close to $200 for two people (no drinks, two desserts) was a bit much. May still visit here on certain special occasions but it will not be a regular occasion. Still better than the experience we had at Fogo de Chao in National Harbor but the service was lacking pretty badly. This was a miss on their usual approach to satisfying their patrons. Again, the place was packed but putting people who made reservations 6 weeks early all the way at the back of the restaurant, literally within 5 steps of the back door, felt like a slap in the face to someone who wants to enjoy the full experience. The Manager never visited our table to check with us to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. I miss the Texas de Brazil that was in Washington, DC. They definitely showed everyone that they were the best in the area until the Pandemic.
