It was around 9:00 pm, and there was only like one other couple there. My understanding is it's more of a club vibe later so that's prob why. It is all outdoors with a bar across the back. It looked nice and was decorated for Christmas. We chose to stand at the bar instead of sitting at a table which seemed to have service. We ended up ordering a cocktail each (amaretto sour and mojito). There weren't any prices on the menu (except for the specialty cocktails which they were out of). Our total for the two drinks came to $42! So I paused and asked if the tip had already been added, and the bartender sort of mumbled something about "no", so I asked if the drinks were actually $20 each. (I mean, we're in Kendall, not South Beach!) So then he showed me the receipt that showed the drinks were $16.50 each and an auto grat of 20%+ had already been added. I did not add an additional tip on top of that. But the experience was in line with some of what I read here (afterwards) of them being a little scammy financially. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by someone that was sitting at a small table. She checked my name off the list and I then entered the small but intimate theatre. The decor was a bit like pieces found at a thrift shop which was actually fun and thought out. The audience seating by the stage were simple but comfortable. Sound and lighting was excellent. At intermission, I checked out the concession stand. The person running it was friendly and all items were reasonably priced. There was ample time to grab a snack along with proper warning before the show resumed. This theater is obviously put together with a great love of the performing arts. Glad I discovered it and wonder what took me so long..... In summary, this is a simple and fun theater where you can experience local shows with a lot of personality. I'll be back.
