Check this place out. We did dinner here last weekend and will definately be back, often. This spot isn't fancy but food is amazing. The restaurant itself has a small "mom and pop" feel to it. Our server was great and attentive. We had the steak tips and chicken scampi. In all honesty, one order of the steak tips came out a bit undercooked to our liking, but the server quickly brought them back and got them refired. Five minutes later, they were delicious. We were searching for a place that served prime rib in the middle of the week for the birthday girl, and this neighborhood place didn't disappoint. It was cooked to perfection, as were the sides. I tried a grilled peach old fashioned, and it was really tasty. I wish I remembered our server's name, because she was great. The steak frites, and the chili salmon were hits as well. The food drink and service is very good. We've had the chicken Parmesan, burgers . Yeah, mostly sandwiches. We try to come early in the evening because of the acoustics here. Bare wood flooring. Nothing to absorb the excess noise especially from the drinkers. We swore we'd never come back because of the last time we were here. It gets too loud to hold on conversation. We came early this visit to avoid the noise but there was a large party going on. I'm afraid this is the last time for us. I'd recommend this restaurant if it wasn't for the noise. We ordered calamari, soup, a burger and Haddock. Everything was excellent, but the taste of the haddock was reminiscent of the last time I had cod. I may be wrong but I have pretty good taste buds and before I retired, I worked took second jobs as a sous chef and a head chef in several resteraunts, so I can usually tell how dishes were prepared and what liquors and spices were used in their preparation and in the sauces. I also can tell when a dish was made from scratch. The night we went there, a power outage occurred nearby and the place was pretty crowded, but in spite of this, the service was terrific and the food was cooked perfectly. I gave only three stars because while the food and value were pretty good, the place is run down, on the dirty side and mismanaged. There were 2 or 3 noteworthy/entertaining events at nearby tables, but I will just talk about what affected us. Despite having a reservation, we waited almost a half and hour to get seated, which happens...I suppose. What bothered us and two other parties that came in after us was that all along, there were 4 or 5 tables cleaned and ready for seating. Finally, while nothing seemed to have changed in the dining room, the hostess and the two waitresses had their third pow wow and decided......okay, we can let them sit now! Without question, this place would be a good candidate for John Taffar's Bar Rescue show but I will say, the place probably makes money as you can tell, it is popular with the town folk. A local gem we found by accident looking for prime rib for my sister's birthday tonight (Wednesday). The prime rib was top shelf according to my two fussy sisters and the price made it doubly so. The drinks were also above par and the waitress, a shortish older woman with glasses was a true pro in every way. You can't go wrong with this place and are supporting a small local business to boot. They also brought over a slice of cheesecake with a candle for my sister's birthday and sang with us as well. Why pay more when a place like this deserves your business. read more

It's been many years I ate here (back when they were still called "Foley's") and I am happy that I can provide an updates review. We ordered takeout and everyone-from the person who took the order to the staff who rang it it up gave it to me-was wonderful. They were friendly, happy and in great moods despite the current pandemic situation. I had to try the lobster burger and I'm glad I did. For $17 I got a big, juicy burger topped with succulent lobster meat. They did not skimp on the lobster, which was something I was initially worried about. My wife ordered the Fisherman's Platter and she even let my try a shrimp. Solid! Granted the dish is made up of lots of onion rings and fries, it's still a decent amount of seafood. And what visit would be complete without the famous clam chowder? It's still delicious! Help support local businesses and do yourself a favor and head to the Backstreet Grille this winter! read more

I'm giving this place two stars mainly because the semi effort from the sever was appreciated. The quality of the food is terrible and not worth the price. We came on a Friday night. Inside the place the dead. So disappointed because we really had high hopes for a good meal and overall service. The whole experience is not worth writing in detail. To summarize...We left unsatisfied with the quality and the price we paid for the seafood. The fried shrimps looked like it was fried in old oil. Hi f you have worked kitchen then you know what I mean. The chicken tenders were over cooked and barley had any sauce. The scallops were not tender they were a bit chewy. Fried haddock was ok. I left this place feeling sick to my stomach. I am lucky I did not throw up. I would definitely recommend going somewhere else. Things to keep in mind: -not baby friendly (no place to change a diaper) -not food allergy friendly - food quality to poor and not worth the price!! - food establishment recently changed ownership I noticed the lining of steel wool on the back end where high chairs are placed. Problems not related to Covid Let me start that our waiter had to take.care of the entire restaurant alone but he was great. The issues are with the kitchen. We have been here many times and have our favorites but somehow they forgot how to make them. The clam chowder which was one of the best on the south shore was watery and tasted like it came from a can. We ordered the potato skins which again we're always good but now they're really not skins, they are double baked potato inside skins. My last issue is the most serious. We ordered a rib eye, medium rare and it was over cooked. The owner even looked at and said "yeah, it's over cooked", then walked away. No offer of replacement or discount. I had the prime rib for my meal. It was cooked perfectly. My wife and daughter had the grilled salmon and loved it. Good size portions and reasonable prices. I can't say enough about the wait staff. Went there for dinner last night and I got one of the dinner specials fried clam strips and it didn't come with onion rings so I paid the extra 2 dollars for them . Service was slow the clam strips were chewy and a little bit of sand In them somehow got mixed in the batter so then I tried the onion rings very cold and tasteless like the frozen ones. Complained to the waitress and she said the clams are a house favorite and the home cut onion rings were probably left in the fry lighter too long so she took the meal off only the bill only had a few bites of it and I will never go back very poor quality even the chicken and pasta dish my partner had was generic nothing homemade there so don't waste your money read more

Just had dinner at the Back Street Grill in Stoughton. Family of 4, casual dinner. We sat down and in under a minute our waiter Arthur was there to greet us. He was friendly, attentive and took great care of us. We had a couple of appetizers, which tasted great, especially the Spicy Wings. Then very quickly we got our entrees, which were burgers and prime rib. It's interesting to note that in the Canton-Norwood area, sometimes it's hard to find a good prime rib. Many restaurants only have them on Fridays and Saturdays, and when they do have them, too often we get a lot of gristle and fat. Not at the Back Street Grill though. These were mouth watering in taste, perfectly cooked to tender succulence, and soaked in delicious juice. They also had about the least fatty parts I've seen. Almost the entire cuts were tender meat. I really can't remember enjoying a more delicious rib than what I got here. I will definitely come back to sample other dishes. Everything, including the sides, were outstanding. A shout out here to our waiter Arthus. He was friendly and attentive from beginning to end, and made the whole dining experience very enjoyable. Please note that this restaurant was half empty at 6pm on a Thursday night, but by 7pm, it was already packed, with a line forming. A quick review to say that the food and service were great. We arrived after ziplining about a half hour before they opened (4:30PM) and the nice gentleman, who I presume to be the owner, kindly let us in and Jordan was happy to take our order. Jordan was great. She brought us rolls and cornbread to start and offered us more when we gobbled those up. Everything we ordered was exactly to our expectations and Jordan was very attentive. Went the the Backstreet Grille & Tavern for the 1st time last night with my wife for dinner and was not disappointed. I had the prime rib and stuffed shrimp with 2 sides, butternut squash and coleslaw. The stuff shrimp was nothing to brag about but the rest of my meal was spot on. My wife had the sweat chili salmon with butternut squash and maple glazed brussel sprouts and really enjoyed it. I had the pistachio ricotta cake which was very light on the stomach and a single serving (not enough for 2 people). The owner (family owned business) and staff were fantastic. We will be back, may have to try the pork ribs next-time, unless I hear the prime rib calling my name. Lot's of hometown craft beers and a simple wine list that more then covers what's on the menu. read more

I'm a long time stoughton resident finally decided to try backstreet Grill and Tavern. I only live a quarter mile away. The food smelled like it was great I have many friends that have recommended this place that live local, but I was never advised how rude the bartender is.I didn't get her name The bartender has a nasty attitude. I asked the waitress if there was onions in the clam chowder she advised me there weren't as soon as the bartender saw that I was not eating it. She gave me a nasty attitude, She's not the one cooking and she's not the one allergic to certain food to give someone an attitude because they got something they're allergic to is foolish. I have a business no more than 500 feet from this location and I will never return. It does not cost her to be polite, but very rude. The waitress was a sweetheart, and made a mistake but whoever is the lead bartender today was nasty and had no respect. I will never come here again. I would never tolerate My employees treating a customer like that. Kindness goes very far. You lost a local customer. I was really looking forward to the whole belly clams, but did not get a chance because your head waitress is very rude and she feels that she's entitled . I will never recommend this restaurant to any friends or family I would never subject them to this foolishness . I'm a longtime stoughton resident and I would never recommend this business I will never treat my customers like that lack of respect. I've heard a lot of negative things from this place and she proves them all right. I would love to try the restaurant again, but I would not want to see that I am being served by a very rude person. Great service and food. The owner was very welcoming and attentive. While we waited 5 minutes for a table, he offered to bring us drinks.
