Food is ok but waitress is very unfriendly and rude. She demands a 20% tip and is verbal when given less. Tipping is not mandatory but is usually given based on service received. Shame on Tommy Doyle's Oak Street for allowing bullying from anyone on their staff. read more

Great little bar, nice ambience, and very friendly servers and people. The seafood is absolutely outstanding, especially the whole belly clams, and baked stuffed haddock. They need to change the hours that they are "open" on their website to the hours that they are actually open. I drove all the way here and arrived at 12:17 on the Saturday of Saint Patrick's day weekend (supposedly this is an Irish bar) for some late night bar pizza and they had already locked the doors. If they were closing at 1:00 I would completely understand doing last call at 12:15 and locking the building, but everything, including the sign on the door, says 2:00. If the building was dark and closed I would not be writing this review. I could see the bartender pouring drinks to patrons through the door. So either hire staff that actually will actually work the hours they are hired for or just simply change the hours you advertise being open. read more

This is simply an appreciation post for Tommy Doyle's. Over the past 6 years, I have visited all three of their restaurants and have consistently found that they deliver a great dining experience. The staff, from the front to the back of the house, have always been friendly and welcoming. And unlike a lot of other restaurants in the same price range, you get what you pay for...and sometimes more. The drinks and portions have always been generous and the quality of the food and its preparation are top-notch. The best part about Doyle's is the casual atmosphere. I just want to leave a special commendation for our waitress, Chris, who served my boyfriend and I last Sunday night, 7/3/22 and pulled out all the stops. I hope management reads this and gives her a raise - in case you have more than one Chris who worked until closing last Sunday, our Chris was hosted sing and serving with a big smile on her pretty face; is 25, petite, has lovely auburn braids, and a personality to beat the band. We came in after the fireworks close to 10:00 pm. You were serving just apps and pizza, which was fine; the garlic chicken pizza and boneless buffalo wings were out of this world and Chris indulged my bf with all the blue cheese dressing he wanted. She smiled, chatted and joked with us the whole time, despite probably having hours of side work to do before closing (I waitressed at her age and know how hard work it is, especially at night). She is such a lovely person and made our night that much more enjoyable. As a side note, we have eaten there before and the steak tips are the best/most tender I've ever had in my life. This is a nice local spot with a decent bar and TVs so you can watch a game. The service is decent and the food is a four out of five. In celebration of our friend's birthday we made reservations for ten people on a Saturday afternoon. We visited the Oak street, Brockton location. Although we requested separate checks the server said that the management of this restaurant did not approve of it. One of the reasons she gave us was that it confuses the cooks. Due to the fact that eight of us were seniors who don't carry much cash, we insisted on speaking with someone else. The manager came to our table and after we explained our situation to her she said: "I will talk to the server". This led us to believe that the issue had been resolved. The server returned to the table and proceeded to take our order. Towards the end, and to our surprise, she gave us one check! In my opinion, the manager could have used some of her authority on our behalf and the server could have displayed a more accommodating attitude. We then spent a very long time figuring out who ordered what and, since we didn't know of this restaurant's policy ahead of time, we also had to borrow money from each other in order to pay for this bill. We left the restaurant feeling that they already have all of the customers they need and that our business was not appreciated. read more

I usually go out for twin boiled lobsters every year as a birthday tradition, and had gone to the Doyle's in Easton for the past few years. Went to the one in Brockton this year because it was closer... what a mistake that was. The service was inattentive, floor under the table was sticky (there was even a used face mask down there), and the food... Got the twin boiled lobsters, which come with nothing else--no fries, no slaw, nothing--so I ordered a baked potato on the side. The single, plain baked potato, uncut and wrapped in foil, turned out to be $6! I get inflation is bad, but I can get an 8 pound bag of potatoes for that; there's no reason a single potato should be the cost of a full appetizer in another restaurant. As to the lobster, one was fine, but the other one had black eggs, and one weirdly gelatinous claw. The server said this was normal for "soft shelled lobsters," but I've been eating lobster every year for over two decades and never experienced that. I checked multiple websites after leaving, and they all stated that black, gelatinous lobster roe was a sign of undercooking. The server offered to give us another lobster to take home, but I declined (why would I risk taking another undercooked lobster?); there was no offer of taking anything off the bill, however. Also, to add insult to injury, no gesture of any kind acknowledging the birthday. Will definitely not be coming back. read more

I go to a lot of high end resturants with friends and often leave hungry and broke. I love Doyle's for the food the portions and you get more bang for your buck. The waitresses are seasoned no nonsense women who often know or remember their clientele instead of the young inexperienced wait staff. In the high end places No view no ambiance green paper place mats just good food and of course there's the popcorn. read more

We were sat fast and the bartenders were actually aware of people standing at the bar. Food was really good and it came out fast. The menu is very big with many options. I only had an issue with the server. When we were done eating we stacked all the plates and sat for awhile. She kept going to new tables and ignored the fact that we needed to leave. I can't stand waitresses that continue to take tables when they are in the weeds. She should take care of us first before she takes more tables. The new location was a complete disappointment. The old location had a home town bar feel and the food was top notch pub fare. The new location has the ambiance of the dining room at the Senior Center. It's like a Bob Evans with beer available. The food was fine but the staff was clearly unhappy and there was no compelling reason to come back. We used to love going to Tommy Doyle's. Sad. We will miss it. read more

So, here's an update after the relocation to North Pearl Street. I tend to give any establishment a break after a change, so Doyle's keeps their five stars. However, observations: *The new location has lost its friendly dive (in the best sense of the word) feel. No more Cheers. It now has the soul of an Applebees. *The feng shui (yes, I had to look it up) is all off. Flat screen televisions plastered to every possible vacant vertical real estate. A weirdly designed, overly wide bar, where you're overwhelmed by the view of the behind-the-bar Rubbermaid flooring mats. When have you ever thought of Rubbermaid flooring? Exactly. *The owner has absolutely nailed it in customer service, food quality, and hospitality. But hire someone to make the physical space seem more inviting. There are people who do this sort of thing. *Late night food offerings seem hit-or-miss as they adjust to the new location. *Modern restrooms are a nice upgrade. Okay, okay, this seems negative. I was there for an early lunch with a group of 11 from the Avon COA. We go to a different restaurant every month and always ask for separate checks and have never had a problem. However when we asked the waitress for this favor she rolled her eyes and made it clear how much extra work it was for her in a very rude voice. She did do it, the food was delicious, as it always is, and she was actually a very good server and turned out to be very pleasant in the end. read more
