Backwoods Brewing Company - Avocado Bacon Chicken
    Kim R.

Inside seating plus a decent sized rooftop dining area and bar (elevator accessible). If you decide to enjoy the rooftop you place your order at the bar. Even though not insanely busy, the bar ordering was a bit messy. As patrons just wander up randomly it was hard to discern a line, plus apparently not every employee behind the bar was taking orders. Still yet, our food was prepped fairly fast and portion sizes were good. We ordered the buffalo chicken wrap, grilled chicken avocado sandwich and tri-tip sandwich...all of which were good (husband said his tri-tip stood out). Definitely a decent spot to hang out in nice weather and enjoy some good bar-food & drinks.

Are you glad that dry/damp January is over? Well, Backwoods Brewery might be your perfect solution to a wet February. They have great beer on tap... from classic Portland IPA to a Golden S'mores Stout. I had the Brew Lab IPA and it was spot on. They have happy hour from Sun-Thurs between 2:30 to 5:30. Hard to argue with discounted beer and drinks! The decor is fun and has an outdoorsy vibe... canoes on the ceiling anyone? Plenty of swag for sale if you want to represent this legit local brewery! Otherwise, check it out when you can. You won't be sorry! I definitely want to check out the rooftop patio next time I visit.

Came here once, around the time they first opened up earlier this year, and second was just recently. I gotta say that I really dig this brewery! Their menu items are quite appealing, while the plates are fairly simple. Upon arrival you'll immediately see the bar, as well as consume that classic woodsy feeling like you're at a mountain brewery. Well, sorta lol. Love that feeling, miss that feeling too. I hate to mention their competitors, but the look is quite similar to good ol' Deschutes and Great Notion I'd say. A typical Portland style brewery. Twice I've been here, and twice we had nothing but excellent service. The guy with glasses knew his beers, and made good recommendations that we bought a few cans to take home. While recently, the lady with glasses was cordial and still attentive for serving us on a late night Monday night. My only wish was that I should've remembered their names lol. I think they know who they are. Down to earth folks. For appetizers, we loved the onion rings ($12), nice and crispy! Loved their soft giant pretzel ($14) and their pig lager beer cheese dipping sauce. I gotta give their fried pickles a try and maybe some wings next time. The Turkey Burnt Ends Sandwich ($17) was similar to a pulled pork sandwich, but with turkey. I enjoyed it a lot! And you can't go wrong with ordering crispy seasoned tots. As for alcoholic beverages, they do server wine and other cocktails, but they seem to be known more for ales and lagers. If you ask me, I go with the usual, The Ridge Run Stout mmm mmm! It's a meal in itself! With that said, I'm just glad Hillsboro has a new chill brewery to kick it at. Oh, and I can't forget to check out the vault and the rooftop patio (during the summertime). Cheers!

Walking into this place it was a bit loud. They do offer rooftop seating but this day it was particularly warm outside. Food was delicious and tasty refreshing drinks.(we had two rounds) The burgers are huge, the pretzel was great, cheese sauce a little gritty but it had good flavor, onion rings were yummy. The summer beer hubby had was very enjoyable. Overall great experience! Will be back.

Enjoy people watching the Market from afar while sunshine sipping on their rooftop. Half the patio is shaded or umbrellas for the UV sensitive. Pups welcomed on top too! Standard pub menu ~ tots, burgers, wraps, melts, etc. Pass on the fried pickles and chicken tenders. There was a lone young gal that was bussin' the entire patio and being pulled by customers left and right. Impressed with her hard work hustle and politeness. The beertenders behind the counter were cordial and relaxed. BW is a laid back beer stop to quench your thirst with their tasty Mexican Lager 5.8% abv. Great for Hillsboro downtown.

Best find in downtown Hillsboro! Amazing service, food, drinks, and a killer rooftop bar. You have to check this place out!

During my visit to Portland we rested our feet in Backwoods Brewing Company for a couple of pints and a snack. A Party Acres Hazy IPA and a Rip City Remix IPA and great customer service provided by Ally J., with a great personality, great looks, and attention to detail. The IPAs were brewed and served to perfection. Hazy, Hoppy, cold, and delicious! Ordered the Garlic Parmesan Tots, and had no idea we would get a MOUNTAIN of tots smothered in cheese sauce! Got them extra crispy and they arrived to our liking. The atmosphere of the brewery was sporty, casual, and comfortable. Highly recommended for a beer, a meal, and conversation with the patrons or staff.

Really cool location as the restaurant was an old bank converted into bar. We were able to get group reservations for the Vault room which was really a bank vault long ago. Service and beer were great. I would recommend if taking your team or have a group of friends and wanting a chill dinner and drinks.

Greeted when in walked in and seated immediately on a Sunday afternoon. An order of sweet potato fries were perfectly fried, served hot and cost $8.25 with a variety of sauce options. Limited cider on tap options; the Peach Cider was crisp, sweet and refreshing. Our server was informative, attentive and personable. It was pretty quiet, I'd say crowded, and had two televisions.

We had a very good second visit at Backwoods last night. The experience started off being a one star evening as we couldn't find a server to greet us or to take a beer order. When this finally occurred, after 10 minutes, the rest of the meal was excellent. My wife had the Veggie Burger, our daughter had the Avocado Chicken Sandwich. I had the Chicken Cordon Blue Sandwich and it was tremendous as were the accompanying onion rings. I do think $16.75 PLUS $4.00 for the rings is a bit steep. $20.75 combined?? Our daughter's sandwich also had onion rings...$20.00 total. The beers were great. My wife had the IPA and we had the Pilsner. Again, not inexpensive...$7,75 each. It was good, but we will consider the cost on our next venture. With tip...$97.91.

first time here, and really enjoyed it. the prices are on the higher side but you get good quality food. it is in an old bank, so you can actually have group dinners in the "Vault". the weird part are the bathrooms, they are individual doors, then you walk out in full view of diners, and wash your hands in public sinks out in the main room.

Cool idea with the bank door. Love the woodsy atmosphere. Beer is good, had a great taste of the smores golden stout.

We were visiting family and they took us to this place for lunch. It's dog friendly on the outdoor patio. You place your order at the bar and they deliver when it's ready. Super impressive as lots of seating. Food options are plentiful and pricing is reasonable. Give it a shot!

To be honest I tried two attempts here to get their beer and both times were fails. The address associated with their Yelp entry here seems to be at the owner's house. And they indeed did have a small taproom here going off of the Yelp pictures. People really liked the beers from the other reviews and the concept definitely caught our attention (ahem) but when we got there and within operating hours of the taproom everything was closed up tighter than a drum. We wanted to make another attempt to try their beer at a later time and when we did it looked like they moved to downtown Hillsboro. We'll we made it there, Steve and I and went in the door only to be told they were closed BUT the owner didn't turn us away and so we had a can of cider. They were doing a remodel and we figured we would make yet another attempt in a few months to try their beer since none was available during the particular time the remodel was taking place and when we arrived. I made a third attempt only to find out the old BDSM sign was taken down and smoked meats and cold beer were sold at the location we were at months before. All of these changes must have been recent and swift because the third attempt was a week ago and Google had the business in the search as still being open and they had an active Facebook page. The Facebook page and has since vanished in a week's time and the Google result says they are permanently closed. They still have their own website up but I wouldn't imagine that is very useful at this point and time. Too bad. A few missed opportunities here without a full on beer experience with what they brewed.

The outside seating appears closed in the winter and the curb appeal needs a helping hand. A pint is $9 with a half pint costing $5.00. Over the counter Pabst is available for $4.00 and there are take home options. They currently are working hard opening another location and the owner is awesome. Give them a shot; definitely worth it!

Several tables were full on a Friday at 1:30, which we took as a good sign! Shortly after we sat down, we were greeted by our waitress, who also seemed to be the bartender and the busser. There were a few dirty tables that stayed that way the entire time we were there, and I honestly think she was just overwhelmed trying to do everything herself. Service was okay, but she definitely seemed stretched pretty thin. We both ordered the Fiddy Fiddy Burger, and it was packed with flavor. The fries came out hot and crispy, which is exactly how fries should be. My only complaint really comes down to personal preference--I'm a smash burger girl and prefer a thinner patty. This was definitely a thicker burger than I normally go for, but all in all, it was an excellent burger. I would definitely come back if I was in the area again. Sometimes a random Yelp find turns out to be a good one!
