Backyard & Home used the wrong chemicals after filling and it started to turn the pool green will now have to drain the pool.

I'm usually not one to leave reviews, but I feel it's my duty to warn others about the nightmare I experienced with Bakersfield Backyard and Home. It's been over a year since I hired them to build my pool, and it's still not complete. What started as a dream quickly turned into a nightmare when I hired Husain, the owner's son, to quote the job in May 2022. He promised the project would take five weeks, but it turned out to be a year of hell. Bakersfield Backyard and Home is very unprofessional and lacks decent customer service. The first red flag was when their secretary quit after we gave them the initial payment for excavation. She told us she didn't want to be affiliated with such a place and all the horror she's gone through working there. Quresh, the owner, will tell you what you want to hear just so that he can receive payment. He even threatened not to finish the project until he received the last payment. After we released the final payment, he finished putting the pool together, but the project was far from complete, and I'm not happy or satisfied with the results. He received his last payment and ran, constantly lying and telling me he would fix things just so I would get out of his face. Bakersfield Backyard and Home provided no after-care instructions and left debris and trash around the pool area. The pool heater still doesn't work, and wooden planks were haphazardly attached to the cement. The fence was thrown back up and fell down during strong winds. There was a complete lack of attention to detail. Pools are far too expensive not to be done correctly or with care. I gave them several opportunities to correct their errors, but the work has yet to be completed. My advice to anyone considering Bakersfield Backyard and Home is to find another contractor and run the other way. I don't know how they're still in business, and I'm considering taking legal action. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company at all costs.

Leak one of two I noticed

Update on my patio IT LEAKS! Multiple places. Not even just edges where it connects to beams, in RANDOM PLACES OF THE SOLID PIECES!! Cheap materials obviously in my opinion. The downspout empties to my patio cement. When inspecting the leaks, I noticed a screw was not even there that keeps the patios together! And this passed inspection?! Maybe that's why it failed the first time. Called and spoke with Suresh. He would "get with his guys" and see what they can do. Been about a month. I will file a complaint like another reviewer. Pay attention the only good reviews are NOT for patios or windows.

Our new spa

This is our second spa from Backyard and Home. I wouldn't purchase one anywhere else. The customer service in store and delivery and set up were fantastic. Hopefully, we won't need another one but if we do, we'll be back. This is a great family owned, local business. Husain, Steve, and Oscar are easy to work with.

My wife and saw them at the home show. Decided to do a shower install. Was told 4-6 weeks with a 2 day install. We're not done yet, it's now been 11 weeks. The craftsmanship is horrible. I have shower walls that are not flat. A niche that was installed 3/8 out of plumb. A corner shelf that will hold water, cracks in the caulking. They don't show up to work in a timely manner. Then they just leave without saying there done for the day. They over priced, no craftsmanship and full of excuses. Not recommended. I give them a rating of zero.

Even if you don't know what you are looking for, Dennis, Claudia & their family will help you find it. They are so patient, knowledgeable and down-to-earth. You might see them at the home show, the fair grounds, or like me - at Costco! But wherever you see them, be sure to chat them up about their products, you'll be glad that you did. I love their no-pressure sales approach and the considerable amount of knowledge they are willing to share. They have everything from smaller two or four person models, right on up to a large swim spa for the whole family! They even have models that can cool the water to around 60 degrees! And let's face it, with Bakersfield's summer heat, that could make for one refreshing dip! This makes a swim spa or hot tub a serious competitor when considering installing a built-in pool. With it being cooler than your pool and less cost and maintenance. We had our tub installed in November of 2023 and I have to say, it's awesome! The team at Hot Tubs Plus delivered, installed it and set it up. The process was pretty easy and with the model that we decided on, maintenance is a cinch. The saltwater system that we added on is fantastic and really helps with my sensitive skin. We love our new spa and it's been an amazing addition to our outdoor living space.

The pump motor quit working So I called up looking for parts and they told me they don't sell parts but they'll sell me a new pump motor. I went to the Amazon website and purchased a 50 MF Round capacitor for $17 I removed the two screws On top of the pump motor revealing the housing for the capacitor I removed the two wires going to the capacitor, discharged it by bridging the terminals with a screwdriver and then installed my $17 Capacitor. turned the power back on and the repair was complete. They knew this. They are in the business for crying out loud.

Paradise built a pool and spa at our home . The pool came out great and we haven't had any issues…read morewith it. We love the way it came out. With that being said, the building process was not pleasant. They far exceeded the agreed upon completion date. Said it would take 2 months. Ended up taking 5 months. I also had to follow up and stay on their ass every step of the way. I constantly had to go around the Foreman, who didn't return calls, communicated poorly and didn't follow through, and call the owner just to get sub contractors scheduled and progress made. First They kept blaming the city permitting department. After waiting a month after they dug the hole, I finally called the city myself and found they never submitted a permit. They owned that mistake and promised improvement. After that they would do a days worth of work, leave for 3 weeks, I would call and complain nothing was being done, they would show up do 2 days worth of work, then leave for another couple weeks etc.. I understand that we were at the mercy of subcontractors. But not even scheduling and leaving your customer high and dry is unacceptable. I had higher expectations for their customer service and logistics. Also, there was no follow up after construction. Not even Just a "Hey how's that pool doing?" Pros: Great Pool, Great work, Good Subcontractors. Cons: Poor communication, poor scheduling/logisitcs. I hope they see this as constructive and made some minor improvements since. In the end, we love our pool.

Paradise dialed it in for my family. Getting started was easy, getting down to details and concept was smooth, and the roll out was likewise lengthy but worth it. Equipment has all the bells and whistling we need to be happy all summer long. All their staff were top notch and helpful, we are very pleased with our pool!

This guy is very arrogant, and argumentative. In addition, he calls me and asks me if I have home owners insurance and telling me to file a claim for my pool pump. If I have home owners insurance I should only pay $100 and they will call him to repair the pump. I said thanks and hung up. I went online to pentair and found a licensed contractor through Pentair, and they came to take the pump. They were shocked at the extended of the damage of my pump. After further inspection, it turns out my pump exploded probably from these guys ignorance or maybe intentional to charge my home insurance for this. Attached are the photos and the message from the contractor. I would never recommend this business. Update: The final cost to repair $1,057.75, because In addition to the pump exploding, it cause damage to the plumbing.
