My husband and I love chicken sandwiches, and the internet said that Backyard Brewery had the best in Manchester. Options are plentiful: I got the fried chicken sandwich and he got chicken and waffles, and they were both delicious. The menu had so many enticing options, and there were so many beer and cocktail choices. My husband doesn't drink, so I found it extra surprising and cool that he thought that the artwork for the brews they make in house was notable, especially the Necronomiquad. Our service was well-paced and attentive, and there were so many good places to choose to sit. Love me some big booths. read more

I didn't have any beer since i only drink sours and gose and they only had a peanut butter - but their margarita flight was yummy! That was my favorite part. My friend ordered the lavender honey pizza and said it was delicious. I ordered the cod fish and chips and was disappointed. The waitress was excellent but did not advise of the steep up charge for sweet potatoes. I was also disappointed with the cod. Everything was excellent. So glad I found this place!! The Smokin' Caesar was unique , fresh the salmon was cooked perfectly. I didn't love the blue cheese dressing. It tasted sour to me, but maybe that's how they make it? I still would order it again! The Brussel Sprouts were fantastic!! So much flavor, so delicious! I could stop eating them! Packed perfectly, the soup did not spill, everything else was in perfect order, nothing was missing, which is a rarity these days! Can't wait to order again! Cool little spot. Service and Drinks were excellent. I had the Northeast Sour. I got the Smoke meatloaf. Which was pretty damn good! My BF had the Vermont burger which was also good. I was in the area to drop a car off at the airport. I wanted a bite to eat and a drink so I scoped out the local breweries and found Backyard. The parking lot was full when I arrived and the restaurant was poppin' with almost every table and outdoor space full. I ended up sitting at the bar and was served fairly quickly. I got the Farro Out burger (farro burger with fig jam, Brussels, and goat cheese) and a side of fries. The dish is vegetarian and was good. I had a couple of beers which didn't knock my socks off for a microbrewery but they were decent. What made this place the most fun was that it was music bingo night. I was able to get in a couple of rounds before heading out to the airport. Overall, this place is fun and I would definitely return when I'm in the area. read more

Kiddos took me here for Mother's Day and it was great! Plenty of parking and plenty of seats. They have tables inside and outside on their pretty large deck. We ate inside and got a booth looking into the brewery. Pretty neat! Our waitress Raleigh was sweet and very attentive and a great person to chat and joke with. She made our experience fun. Now the food!! WOW!! For appetizers we tried their Pretzel Tots and HobGoblin', both were excellent. My husband had their, A Heifer of a Sandwich and he said it was very good. My son got the Spicy Pepperoni Burrata and liked it and my daughter got their Drunken Mac n Cheese with Pulled pork and said it was really tasty. I had the Prime Rib with Mashed Potatoes and oh, yeah, very, very good!! Then we tried a few desserts and again very good. Would loved to have had all my kiddos there, but they are all grown now and it's life and things change. I wished they all stayed little, but I'm also very proud and happy for them. I've been to Backyard Brewery many times. Tonight, I had the Vermont burger which was really, really good and work not hesitate to get again. That's in the top of my rotation along with their flatbreads. Tried their new IPA, Gravity Always Wins. I think I'll stick with the Lazy Daze. We had very good service. Food came out promptly & hot. Backyard Brewery has a nice beer selection (I'm a fan of their dark brews) and ever-changing cocktail specials. For dinner, we had frickles, steak tips, and a pizza. The pizza was definitely the stand-out item and would fully recommend. The atmosphere is bright and open and can be quite lively yet the servers remain attentive. Wednesday nights are trivia nights. It would've been nice if they showed the trivia on one of the many many TVs so non-players could follow. read more

The food was so good! The server wasn't very friendly but it was very busy so that could have been it. No biggie. They weren't rude just... not enjoyable. I LOVED sitting outside on the patio and that people brought their dogs. I'll be back again this summer for sure. read more

Came with friends on a Thursday night. We were seated in a booth rather the bar because we intended to eat dinner here. I think they had musical bingo going on at the bar? Our server was friendly and attentive, even letting us sample a couple beers before we made our decision. I sampled their PP&J Beer and though it was better than expected, I'm not a big PP&J fan and opted with a safer Pilsner option. For the food, I ordered the Notorious P.I.G. Tacos with a side of fries. While I really enjoyed the overall taste and flavors of the food, it was unfortunately served to me cold. I did not bring this up to the waitress, as I was very hungry in this moment and we waited awhile for our meals. My boyfriend got the Alabama Fried Chicken sandwich, I was fortunate enough to be allowed a taste of it and I really enjoyed the seasoning of the fried chicken. Others in our party got the It's Chicky chicken sandwich and the Vermont Cheddar Burger both looked like solid choices. All in all this place had a cool atmosphere with friendly staff. You can see the brewery behand a glass wall, it seems they have ample outdoor seating for when the weather is nicer which I would like to come back again. read more

What a great place for a relaxed night out. The patio was crowded when we got there with lots of pups under the table, so they're dog friendly for those of you wondering. We opted for inside seats so we didn't have to wait. There was a lively crowd inside with live music too. Great atmosphere. Red Sox game was on multiple TVs shown throughout the floor. Our server was prompt and drinks and food served quickly. No complaints there. We got the brussels sprouts appetizer and I got fish and chips, he got a burger. Both good! The restaurant we really wanted was closed on Sunday, so we opted for the next closest restaurant which was The Backyard Brewery. What a disappointment. The staff was so-so -- not very upbeat. Obvious, waiting on people is just a job -- not really anything they enjoy. The taco salad was nothing special and vegetable lo mein had no flavor. Cheeseburger and fries would have been a "fail" at McDonalds. The IPA was the only thing done well. Our dinner was very disappointing and definitely not worth $80 with tip. Will not be visiting again nor recommending to our friends. read more

Plenty of parking. Quick and friendly staff. We entered and were seated right away. Plenty of booth and high top seating. The waitress was quick to place our order and for us to receive our food. Creme brulee martini I would definitely recommend. It was delicious. The almond joy martini fell slightly short for taste since it was more chocolate than anything else. I wasn't able to taste the coconut. The curried squash soup was ok. I would definitely recommend to blend the coconut in well. The pineapple express would've been amazing if some more of the bbq sauce was in it. I wish that the braised pork that was on the pizza was smothered in that sauce cause it was so good. The smores mudslide pie was amazing! The crust was delicious and I loved the toasted marshmallows on top, graham crackers and chocolate syrup. Backyard Brewery was a total letdown when I went recently. I used to look forward to visiting this place years ago, but after returning to the area, my experience was so disappointing that I felt embarrassed bringing my friend here for a Friday night outing around 8 pm. The interior of Backyard Brewery appears quite clean, with a trendy, hipster vibe mixed with a country aesthetic. Situated just outside of town near the airport, it seems to attract a more affluent crowd, keeping the downtown riffraff at bay. On Friday nights, they offer some cool live music that is not overpowering. Unfortunately, the service was absolutely terrible. I used to visit this place often during my travels through Manchester, but this past year, I've been less frequent. I wanted to show a friend from out of town, who was staying nearby and had an early flight the next morning, what this place was like. The restaurant was only about half full, so we were promptly seated, but the atmosphere felt crowded. Seating us at a long table right next to other people. No privacy. The staff quickly took our drink and food orders, and everything arrived in a reasonable timeframe. However, no one checked in with us to see if we needed anything. Shortly after our food arrived--my pork carnitas and my friend's chicken tenders--my friend enjoyed their meal, but my pork carnitas were cold and clearly had been sitting out for too long; they were overcooked and unappetizing. I managed to eat just one of the two servings and waited for the waiter to return, but he never did. After my friend finished their meal, we finally managed to flag him down by asking for another round of drinks. He took my friend's empty plate but didn't inquire about my food and hurried off as I tried to express my concerns. When he returned, I said, "Hey, you can take this away; it's not good." He gave me a strange look, initially silent, then just tilted his head in confusion. I explained, "The pork is cold and dry; I was trying to tell you earlier, but you ran off, and you didn't ask me how my food was when you saw I hardly touched it." He stared back at me, looking skeptical. I reassured him, "I'm not trying to get a free meal; I'll pay for it, but it clearly wasn't fresh." He took my plate without any acknowledgment of my complaint--no apology, no offer for anything else--just a blank stare. After that, our other drinks arrived, and the waiter soon asked if we wanted to place a last call, which we declined. The drink prices seemed fair to moderate for a nicer establishment away from the typical NH Walmart best wearing crowd. You won't find the yokel local mouth breathing teeth missing granite staters here with their uncouth behaviors drinking cheap swill beer. However, I felt ripped off when I was charged for the food I barely ate and complained about, with no explanation or concern from the staff. Will I be back? No, I don't think so. Restaurants like this have their ups and downs. Without improvements in customer service and food quality, I'd rather explore newer places that offer a similar relaxed vibe, good craft beer, and better service, which are a dime a dozen now. Backyard Brewery, I'm sorry, but tonight was disappointing. While we enjoyed the drinks and live music, there was no acknowledgment of my complaint, just an awkward look that suggested indifference. The lack of attention from the staff was disheartening, leading me to leave without a proper meal and the first time I've ever chosen not to tip a server. I have to be provided a product and service to tip. It's unfortunate, but I can't justify returning without a significant improvement in effort and service. 2 stars for drinks and atmosphere. read more

We recently came back here on a cool afternoon and had a wonderful experience. The tap list was great, that's what really sold me on checking them out again. The pepperoni hot honey pizza was great too, really nice rise of the crust. Service was exceptional! Big difference from when they must be swamped in the hot summer months, which was our previous experience. The patio is nice but won't be heated, so that's the limit for any visitor with a dog. read more

Smoked meatloaf was a solid choice... thick piece of meet with a slight smoke taste and smell, on a bed of mashed potatoes and coated with a brown gravy. Topped with Fritos chips for a bit of crunch. I came back for the beer, and tried a few more, but liked the food as well. Ambiance is oaky Rathskeller, prices are in line with expectation, and service was friendly and helpful. The food and drinks have always been fantastic when I've gone. The service is typically pretty good as well. The patio is great to sit at on a nice day. My favorite food items are the French onion soup, the smothered pretzel tots, the dill pickle pizza is outstanding, and the pineapple paradise bread pudding is in fact paradise. Second time here only because after the first awful experience they gave us a $100 gift card which was a great gesture but unfortunately food fell short again. Started off with the Nashville hot cauliflower bites and chicken fingers. Recommendation don't bread the cauliflower just deep fry it and the chicken tenders were probably the most embarrassing $15 plate of Tenders I've ever been a part of. See pics below. Super small. Looked like they hurried to save a thrown out batch to make the ticket time. Bison burger order medium it was more medium rare but all good, wife got the grilled chicken sandwhich, both buns were cold and stale. Hadn't been here in a long while and decided to take the kids because they wanted pizza, and I wanted a brew. The list of homebrews is satisfying, and there are enough choices for all. The menu offerings are great, and you won't be able to choose just one thing. My only qualm was that the pizzas came out a bit burnt. But when you've got hungry kids, you don't turn away food. the waiter, Cash, was rather accommodating, as he saw how cramped we were in a 4 person booth, and offered us a large booth in a different section - and he still waited on us! Another waitress even came over to check on us initially, which was great to k ow they all were paying attention. this is a place for a good drink and a fully belly - all the food here is worth a try, from the pizza to the mac'n'cheese. Met up with some old friends here while visiting New England this summer. Patio was full and trivia was in session at the bar, so we dined in the back restaurant area. Good space for large groups but a bit secluded from the fun. Their menu offered gluten-free options, like lettuce wrapped burgers. Mine was made well and tasted great! Quality French fries and hard cider were perfect companions. Service was friendly and their store was worth checking out after dinner. I left with a cute beer-can glass souvenir. Parking wasn't easy despite the huge private lot. It was pretty full when we arrived so we had to drive around for a few minutes. Overall, a solid brewery far enough away from crazy Elm street.
