"May I help you find something?"…read more (What are words you rarely hear in the gardening areas of Home Depot or Lowes for 500, Alex?) You will be helped at Perino's. So yes, walk in to the huge nursery but don't feel overwhelmed. There will be a well-informed employee there to help you. And you don't have to go hunting for them. Perino's is paradise at this time of year when most of our minds are geared towards making our outdoor spaces beautiful, even if in a month or two we will be hiding inside from the heat. Perino's has it all from annuals to perennials to shrubs to trees and everything in between. Yes, you're paying more for things than you will at HD or Lowes, but the quality is profoundly superior to what you'll get there (sidenote: it's depressing to see the wilting flora at the big box stores, clearly due to lack of watering. Then they put them on sale but c'mon). Perino's has sales at times, too. Proof of quality: I see in my last review 12 years ago that I mention buying a star jasmine vine. I still have that vine and it made it through two cross country moves!

They were quickly putting new trees out as others were purchased. We found the 7-8 foot section and I quickly found one that I liked. We opted to have the tree delivered ($55 for our area). They had a large selection of trees in all sizes. They build their own stands and have the water bowl built in to keep the tree fresh and they give the tree a fresh cut on delivery day. Only disappointment we had is that their info sheet they give you for delivery says they'll help you decide on which side to face outward and trim any branches that need trimming. Instead they brought the tree in, put it on the floor protector we bought, and cut the string wrapped around the tree before running out the door. We had quite a bit to trim around the base before decorating including quite a few small branches that went directly into the water bowl. Next time we may just have them tie it to the car and save the delivery fee.

One day the Pirate says: I'm tired of all this bargain basement, thrift store, upcycled, found on the side of the road crap we have. (maybe he didn't say bargain basement or upcycled, but he was wearing an eye patch....no that's not true....maybe drinking whiskey at 9am? Yep definitely true) I saw a review for this place and popped in one day.......Ohhhhhh.......Ohhhhhhh....... yep I was in furniture store love. It's not cheap, nor is the quality. So the Pirate is tired huh....Well I'm going to get exactly what I want then. Our affair started with several trips to view a davenport, that's what my MamaToo called hers. It needed to double as a sofa and comfortable bed for guests visiting. Davenports tend to have boxy cushions that can be removed revealing a day bed sorta thingy. I went maybe three times over several weeks. It was an investment afterall. Katie was there from the beginning to help, no pressure...take my time...she'd send pricing quotes for different configurations and pictures, did i need a swatch sample? I gave my orange retro couch the old heave ho and passed it on to a herb smoking musician and have never looked back. Next came the side table a few months later Then they had a warehouse sale and we bought a sideboard ( Ohhhhh I love that piece) then another side table for whiskey for the pirate.... a few small gifts for friends over the years from their in-store selection and various pop up shops they host. Katie was my gal.....who put up with my thoughts and hesitation to invest.... never any pressure Then I bought a new dresser (I dragged my old one onto the side of the road, helping a man load it into his truck....hey...why I am loading it.....) and then I bought a slim book case that I had been eyeing for months was snagged at their showroom sale. Of course I needed the nightstand match now....so I bought that. and then one day i looked around and I was finished...no more to buy....no more...nope.... Over the last 3 years I have loved everyone and my darling Katie..... AND then my gal hooked me up for a VIP sale..... probably the best deals ever and since dear Angelique needed a desk, I picked up a desk top and a single chair......and a market umbrella for future festivals and what not. The Pirate doesn't complain anymore, but he still drinks Whiskey at 9am. He is happy with my choices and considers this mid century modern look his now......I need a bigger house or a new studio...sigh tell them CrazyRe' sent you

I'm not really in the market for furniture at the moment but stopped into this store to see what…read morethey might have that was in the gift item/housewares category. They didn't have tons of gift items when I was there. But they did have some pretty amazing modern house decor. As befits a store selling modern furnishings everything was clean and well laid out. The store was easy to move around in and everything was clearly marked. The staff seemed to be in a meeting when I arrived (30 minutes before closing) but a salesperson did offer to help me and the one other customer in the store. She checked back in with me while I browsed but was definitely not pushy. I really want/need the copper chair they had on display...but first I'd have to figure out where to put it.

Most recently, I ordered a vacuum, which the Lowes website listed as being in stock, ready to pick up the next day. When I go to pick up, the estimated time to fulfill the order moved to 7 days in the future. I spoke to 3 employees and none of them were able to resolve the mistake or contact a manager for assistance. This is not the first time this location has listed items in stock online, only for me to drive there and find out the items are not in stock. This is the last time I will waste time and money ordering through Lowes. Employees at this location are generally courteous, and eager to help, but they seem to be handicapped by a lack of support from the company. They are not able to help customers navigate these kinds of problems. It's also possible the website itself is faulty, giving customers unrealistic expectations for pick up.

Around the shop, there are candles, body oils, room sprays, lotion, etc. in select scents. At the back in a separate room, there are some cute clothes. The 2 women that were working when I popped in were friendly and approachable. I even overheard another customer come in who asked for help with identifying a scent similar to her current discontinued perfume and they were extremely helpful! They offered to let us try some scents on to see how it changed with our skin chemistry. After smelling for a long time, I picked up 3 scents: heliotrope (very warm vanilla), carnaval (fresh, spring), and mirage (honestly have no clue how to describe this, just that it smells delicious). I also looked up their website to see if I would be able to reorder and it seems that select scents are available, so it is definitely worth a trip in-person to smell all of their inventory!! Price wise, these are very affordable at $33/2 oz. of eau de toilette and $45(?)/2 oz. for the parfum. I would love to continue supporting this business for their stellar service and unique scents, not to mention the history of the company is cool.

The first time I came in, I was the only one in the shop and the experience was personalized. Honestly, I didn't like the majority of scents I tried, but I didn't give up and discovered Heliotrope. It's one of the best vanilla scents I've tried. I purchased the perfume and it's become one of my favorite layering scents. This time, the shop was packed, but I made my way around and tested out the fragrance oils. At first, I was unable to locate Heliotrope and a sales associate offered to make some for me. I absolutely love this oil! The scent is quite strong and long lasting. It's very moisturizing as well. Hove will always be a go to when I'm in the city of New Orleans.
