Bacuri Bakery

Adorable lil bakery with friendly staff and appetizing empanadas and baked goods. First visit and tried the spinach, mushroom feta empanadas since they were out of the beef. Also added a cappuccino. Music bellowed in the background as I ate and enjoyed this charming lil business located off Cass Ave across from Quincy Station. Worth the trip if you're interested in baked goods from a local business in downtown Westmont.

12/18/24 update: I came in again to try more items. I tried 3 more empanadas (ground beef, ham, egg, and cheese, and last sausage, egg, and cheese), coxinha, and brigadeiro. Empanadas were all fantastic. Coxinhas were fried but the insides were creamy chicken flavor. Must try. The brigadeiro was a fudge ball. Soft texture with rich chocolate taste. It is sweet so I recommend eating one at a time not all at once.

Very glad to see this Brazilian bakery fill this spot. I've only tried a few empanadas and their carrot cake, which were all decent. Make sure to order some chimichurri sauce to go with empanadas. I'm looking forward to trying more of their menu items.

Coxinha

Love the variety of empanadas and different pastries! The banana foster empanada was amazing and hopefully that's a permanent menu item. I enjoyed the chorizo egg and cheese empanada as well! It was my first time trying coxinha and WOW they are amazing and I've been missing out. Great spot to have in the neighborhood! Despite that location being cursed lol.

Second visit and this place has been perfection both times! I was unfamiliar with many of their items the first time we came in and they took the time to walk me through the options and give recommendations. Very friendly and approachable! The space is absolutely adorable and I can tell a lot of work went into creating the space. The food is tasty and they offer sweep and savory options. They also offer a variety of beverages including coffee and coke products. Westmont is lucky to have this gem. Stop by - you won't be disappointed!

Empanadas

Checked out Bacuri as we love trying out local small businesses and interested in trying some Brazilian specialties. We got two orders of the large drink and 2 empanada special (great deal!) and another empanada and a cappuccino. Everything was great, we really enjoyed the empanada, the guava and cheese one was especially delicious! We also got an order of the coxinha which was also pretty decent. We look forward to coming back!

Fantastic place! They have a window on Cass that you can order through! Loved their hot chocolate, the brigaderios (chocolate brazilian truffles), benjinho (sweet coconut Brazilian truffles), and they have a great brisket grilled cheese! I know ill have to stop by and pick up some sweets for our upcoming holidays to share with the family! Thank you for the puppachino

I tasted some of Bucari's offerings at the last Taste of Westmont and was impressed, but just now took the opportunity to visit their bakery at 15 S Cass, and was delighted. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. Their menu is smaller and condensed, but offers all of what anyone would be looking for when it comes to breakfast and lunch. I took advantage of the 2 empanada special and coffee for $8.50, which filled me up just as much as any fast food offerings would and for a very reasonable price. First time having an empanada, and for those who haven't had one...think a crispy country biscuit stuffed full with breakfast or lunch fillings...I had an egg and sausage and an egg and ham. These hit the spot as I'm pretty full. Full enough to pass on one of their pastry and donut choices. I'll be back for those when the time is right. They have a standard coffeehouse menu, and i'm really interested in their Aqai bowls, which appear to have many options and also reasonable. The bakery is warm and inviting. I love the choices that we now have in downtown Westmont. If you're thinking coffee shop and pastries, Bacuri offers something different than Brewed Awakenings, who has just as many options, but different, and this is what this town needs. Today, an empanada, tomorrow a delicious large muffin from Brewed Awakenings. Bacuri has a walk up window which will be a great feature for your commuters and summer walkers. I'll be back, maybe for lunch next time. Let me know what you've enjoyed, if you've been here.

If you are looking for a dining experience that feels like a celebratory event, Chama Gaúcha…read moreBrazilian Steakhouse is a masterclass in the art of churrasco. It manages to strike that rare balance between upscale sophistication and the high-energy "service at the speed of light" that defines a world-class steakhouse. Here is a breakdown of what makes it a magnificent choice. 1. The Meats: A Carnivore's Symphony The star of the show is, without question, the Picanha. This prime cut of top sirloin is seasoned simply with sea salt and roasted to perfection. When the gaúchos carve it tableside, the outer layer is beautifully seared while the center remains incredibly succulent. Diversity of Cuts: From the garlic-heavy Cordeiro (lamb) to the tender Filet Mignon and the smoky Costela (beef ribs) that fall off the bone with the slightest nudge of a fork. The "Green Means Go" System: The service is relentless (in the best way). As long as your card is green side up, a parade of skewers will arrive, ensuring your plate is never empty. 2. The Gourmet Salad Bar Calling it a "salad bar" feels like an understatement. It is an architectural display of fresh, high-end ingredients that could easily stand as a meal on its own. Highlights: Huge wheels of aged cheeses (like Grana Padano), smoked salmon, marinated artichokes, giant grilled asparagus, and traditional Brazilian feijoada (black bean stew). Freshness: Everything is crisp, vibrant, and replenished so frequently it feels like you're the first person to plate a serving. 3. Atmosphere & Service The ambiance is warm, dimly lit, and refined, making it perfect for anything from a high-stakes business dinner to an anniversary. Authentic Hospitality: The staff are knowledgeable and move with a choreographed precision. They don't just serve food; they share the culture of the Rio Grande do Sul. The Sides: Don't overlook the warm pão de queijo (cheese bread) or the caramelized bananas, which serve as the perfect palate cleanser between savory bites. 4. The Final Verdict Chama Gaúcha isn't just a meal; it's an investment in indulgence. You don't go there for a quick bite; you go there to be treated like royalty while exploring the very best of Southern Brazilian grilling. Pro Tip: Save a little room for the Papaya Cream dessert. It's light, refreshing, and topped with a swirl of Crème de Cassis to perfectly round out a heavy meal. 5 star

We went during lunch and I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of food and service. I would recommend to go - but don't get the AYCe options - actually order food from the bar menu. Excellent and great value Food (A-) The food from AYCE was a B+ while bar ordered food was a A. So one of my daughters got the churrasco experience and enjoyed the house special and ribeye . The other meats were good but a bit salty. The salad bar was pretty good also. Especially the bacon. Me, my wife and other daughter ordered off the bar menu and it was awesome. We got wings, steak, lamb, and both sliders - all of it was excellent. It was so good that this is going to be our good to place for family meals. Pictures posted below Service (A-) The staff was super friendly and nice. We went right at lunch open so not too busy. Prompt service and great job by the severs. The only caution is the wait for bar ordered food - it does take a while. I think the staff is focused on the Churrasco experience foods so anything ordered does take longer. But they were clearly trying there best Value (A) Split rating - would give Churrasco experience a B+ while bar menu a A+. Posted menu attached - next we go - we may order everything and try it - we really enjoyed it Insider tip- order from the bar menu and the quality of food is much better. If doing the experience stick with ribeye and house special. Join the rewards program - it is worth if you plan to go every few months. Also the interior is well appointed - it's not a quite place but not to loud

From the moment you walk in, the staff is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. There's plenty of parking, which makes it easy and stress-free to visit, and the restaurant itself is always spotless and well kept including the restrooms. One thing that really stands out for our family is how autism-friendly and understanding the staff are. We have an autistic son, and the team here has always been patient, kind, and very aware of our needs. That level of understanding means so much to families like ours and makes dining out a truly enjoyable experience. The food is absolutely delicious. The steak is incredible juicy, flavorful, and cooked perfectly every time. It honestly rivals some of the best steakhouses we've been to and no I'm not afraid to admit that. The salad bar has tons of fresh options, so there is something for everyone, and everything is well stocked and presented beautifully. Now then sangria is fantastic. It's refreshing, light, and perfectly balanced, not overly strong, which actually makes it even more enjoyable to sip with a meal. Between the welcoming atmosphere, clean space, amazing food, and thoughtful staff, this place is a gem. We will absolutely continue coming back again and again. She is a social-worker turned chef, and it feels like she has really opened her home for guests. We went for a charity event where for the price of your ticket you got unlimited apps, fun drinks (nonalcoholic too! like hibiscus!), wine making explanation, participating in grape cutting, dinner, wine, dessert. I was so full by the end! We started with appetizers on the first floor, which was very cozy with couches - very much like a living room. I'm not even sure what the appetizers were but they were really good. There was also hibiscus tea and a lime drink (I can't remember the name). After that, we spent some time in the backyard which honestly didn't even feel like Chicago. It was a warm night, there are fairy lights all over, and the entire place is covered in grape vines! The grapes grown here are used to make their very own Sinha wine! We brought scissors and got to experience the process of wine making. I was worried that there might not be a ton of options for me as a vegetarian but I was so wrong! There were beans without pork, rice, greens, corn, plantains, okra, cheese bread balls, marinated mushrooms, beets, and more! They use in season veggies a lot, and everything was seasoned well. It was a serve yourself buffet and then we sat at long tables, which was a really good opportunity to get to meet new people. This was probably one of the best dining experiences I have had in Chicago. I can't recommend it enough!
