Brazilian Sausage (10/10) - great flavor and snap
Jocelyn H.

I always have a great time at experiences like these. We made a reservation for Valentine's Day weekend/our Anniversary and were seated almost immediately. Then, we went to the salad/cold food station where they had an assortment of cheeses, salads, cured meats, warm potatoes au gratin, and lobster bisque. I highly recommend grabbing some cheeses, potatoes, and soup to cleanse your palette as you eat the passed meats, but don't stock up on the salad! When you're ready to try the meats, turn your table card to "green" and watch as the food comes out. My favorites were the Brazilian sausages, picanha, filet mignon, and the flank steak. I was disappointed by the lamb meats which were consistently overdone even when I asked for medium rare. I recommend asking for small pieces of meat as they come around, figure out what you like, then bulk up on those meats. Another disappointment was their Brazilian cheese bread which I typically love. Fogo de chao has very soft cheese breads but Texas de Brazil's breads were crunchy almost like they were sitting out before being served. Finally, Fogo de chao provided a complimentary dessert for our anniversary last year but Texas de Brazil did not (not that I'm expecting it, just a note of comparison). Texas de Brazil did have very good fried bananas, though.

I haven't been since they closed the 1 downtown Chicago. So yes it's been a while! We had reservations for 7p for the night we went. They were pretty busy, as to be expected on a Friday. I'm not certain if they forgot about us because we got there about 10-15 early to check-in and there were several groups who were sat before us that came in after us. They are attached to the mall so to me they are a bit small. Salad had nice options including hot black beans and rice. They bring out mash potatoes, bread, fries, and plantains. The meat kept coming didn't need to ask unless we wanted a particular meat. I usually don't eat my steak with sauce but unfortunately I had to ask for steak sauce this visit. The steak was definitely missing flavor. My fav was the garlic steak.

First time coming here to celebrate hubby's birthday. We reserved a table on Open Table and our table was ready as soon as we arrived. The restaurant is in the mall, so there's ample parking. Our waiter was Larry, and he is awesome. He is extremely customer focused and attentive and made sure all the meats came to our table so we could try everything. The restaurant manager came by a few times and asked if everything is to our satisfaction and if the food was a good temperature, to which, everything was. The salad bar was fresh and always replenished quickly. We loved all the meats. Everything is seasoned well and very tasty. For dessert, Greg and Von had the key lime pie. It was very sweet but good. Ryan had the chocolate cake, which was really good too, and I had the Brazilian cheesecake. That was delicious!

My plate from the salad bar complete with hearty lobster bisque.

It's party time (again) and this time we're in Orland Park (SW suburban Chicago). The restaurant is located on the upper level near a primary mall entrance. (It's in the former space Sears occupied if you're familiar with the mall.) Very similar to Fogo de Chao in concept, various meats served by "gauchos" (aka Brazilian cowboys.) There's a full bar and extensive wine list. They both have the card you turn over--red for don't offer meat and green for offers of meat. The choices included filet mignon, bar-b-que ribs, lamb, Parmesan chicken, Parmesan pork, bacon wrapped chicken or sirloin steak and sausage. Service was very attentive! Of course, there's a market table with salad items, charcuterie and smoked salmon. Texas de Brazil offers more dessert choices than Fogo. I tapped out in a "meat coma" and even birthday cake was out of consideration. I did notice more variety on the hot station in the Market Salad area at Texas de Brazil. The lobster bisque earned an A+ for taste and consistency! The potato au gratin was delicious. There were many hot choices to make their salad area a stand-alone meal.

Excellent service, cocktails were amazingly delicious and strong, the food was fresh and bountiful. It's a beautiful restaurant modern and upscale. You flip the disk over on your table to green and they bring you an array of meats to sample. It's about $70.00 person to eat all the meat you desire from filet mignon to ribs, chicken, lamb etc... and you also can eat from the salad bar which has salads, soups, cheeses, breads, shrimp and more. I was so full from sampling everything I did not have an opportunity to try any of their desserts but their desserts are also included in the menu for no additional charge.

Some meat selections for starters (more on the way) Lamb Chicken Parmesan drumette Sirloin

Great dining experience overall. Out server Alex was very attentive and made sure we had what we needed. A great restaurant for special occasions. The meat selections were very flavorful and tasty. Thank you and will see you on the next visit!

I visited this location for the first time, Christmas day. We had an early afternoon reservation, so it wasn't very crowded. We were seated and greeted by our server, Adam, immediately. He went over the menu and dining protocol and offered suggestions on alcoholic beverages. The meat selections are plentiful and delicious. I don't eat red meat or pork very often, so it was nice to sample so many types of meat simultaneously. I liked the filet mignon best out of everything. The side options are a bit lacking, IMO, but the black beans and jasmine rice were pretty good. I ordered a passion fruit margarita, which was decent. I can't recall the name of every cocktail my family ordered, but everyone liked their beverage of choice. My godfather ordered a bottle of red wine for the table as well. My sister said her favorite part of the meal was the key lime pie. Our server was awesome. He was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. We were very happy to tip him $80. The bill came to over $300 if I'm not mistaken, which wasn't too bad considering all the booze we ordered & the amount of meat they serve. I probably won't visit Texas de Brazil again anytime soon, but this experience left me with a favorable opinion of the restaurant.

VERY spacious, and you wouldn't think that from looking at the building in the parking lot. I will say this OFF TOP, I will be back. This place appears to have lots to offer, and I want in on the good stuff. They have party rooms, a massive bar and plenty of seating for friends, foes and the family. Adorable decor, but also simple. Its a bar/pub friends! Let's get to the sips and bites shall we! I ordered a cranberry and vodka. When it came, it was dang near clear, so I knew that would be my only sip for the evening and some water. lol We ordered starters/apps: Chicken Wings and Cheese Curds. Simple, tasty, hot and the service was SWIFT BABY SWIFT! Entree: I ordered Fish tacos. I had my fingers and toes crossed hoping they were going to be amazing. No sir, no ma'am. Flavorless. They looked great though. I ate half of one and gave to my sib for take home bites. I blame me, I should have ordered something safe, like a burger or something easy peasy. Sis ordered a Patty Melt with fries. Looked good, she stated it tasted amazing. Winner, winner, burger dinner! Bro order a couple things: Chicken Tenders and fries and a Quesadilla. He stated his items were delicious. We sat, ate, sipped and enjoyed the space. I would absolutely recommend this establishment for friend/family gatherings, or popping in for sips and wings. They have an assortment of homemade sips and eats, and their menu is pretty large. If anything, I will be back to try more options of things. Simple grub! Great location and friendly staff! As always, you don't have to take my word for it, go get you some!

The bottom tier was a bed of delicious spicy yellow rice with 3 different kinds of fish, shrimp and mussels. Every single thing I put into my mouth was excellent!!! Our server Ferris (sorry if I spelled your name wrong) was absolutely amazing. Funny, knowledgeable, he explained everything that we were eating and telling us about the buffet that they offered. He was tentative and nice. The decor was sooooo beautiful and romantic as well. We sat on these super comfy round cushion chairs over these beautiful round lights and it was dim enough to feel a wonderful atmosphere and romantic but bright enough to see our food. The entire experience was wonderful and if I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. I will recommend this place to anyone who loves Mediterranean food or seafood and I will 1000% be back. I think the owner may have been at the door that day and seemed a bit frazzled (understandable). Also, a sign that says please wait here to be seated. When we arrived we didn't know where to stand so we went to the other side of the front desk and were somewhat scolded and redirected to go back around and wait. It was pointed out there was another family waiting to be seated. Hmm. But it was a busy day so we let that go. Fortunately we didn't wait long to be seated. The waiter, although not to experienced, was trying hard and answered all our questions. When we placed our order we were informed several items were not available. Hmmm. It was still early in the day, how do you not have the items. We ordered humus. DELICIOUS!!! Spanish Octopus with white rice, combination plate with lamb, steak and chicken plus the white rice, and finally lamb chops with white rice. Problem the octopus was served first it had superb flavor and not rubbery at all. That was my son's meal. Then about 5 mins later came my meal, the combination which was deliciously seasoned and the chicken was moist!! Finally 5-10 mins later the waiter came and told my daughter that the kitchen failed to tell him there were no lamb chops. So disappointed. They apologize and she ordered the combination plate which came about 10 minutes later. Needless to say my son and I were done with our meal. Problem: initially when we got the hummus we ate it but had to drink water because our drinks didn't come till I got my meal. I reminded the waiter and he explained they had to make the drinks. habiscus water and a mint lemonade. Hmmm Problem: when my son got his octopus, he didn't get a knife and I had to give him my steak knife so he could cut his octopus legs. Finally when we got the bill, we were being charged for the lamb chops!!! Needless to say Al Bahar was recommended by Albawadi Grill waitress. And yes the food is terrific! Even the white rice makes my mouth water. But the service and consistency needs much improvement. Although the waiter apologized, at no time were we offered some type of compensation for all the inconveniences experienced. Not that it's required nor do I expect it but it would've been a nice gesture. The table next to us complained loudly and they were offered free food. We complained subtly and no type of courtesy was extended. Do I recommend. Yes for pick up order the food is scrumptious and No I do not recommend dine in experience. They have much to improve! Goto Al Bawadi instead!! Their food is delicious, the service is very friendly and the humus and fresh made pita unbelievably delicious!

I placed an online order and checked in upon arrival, and my food was brought out to my car shortly after, which made the entire experience quick and convenient. I ordered the ribs, which I first tried about two years ago and have been coming back for ever since. At this point, I choose them over the steak--they're that good. Tender, flavorful, and truly fall-off-the-bone. This time, I decided to branch out and try a couple of new items--the shrimp & lobster chowder and the parmesan crusted spinach dip with flatbread chips-and both were a pleasant surprise. The chowder was rich and comforting, while the spinach dip was creamy and well-balanced (I didn'texperience the "crusted" part, possibly softened while I was driving home, but it was still good), making it an easy add-on to the meal. Overall, a solid option when you're looking for something consistent, satisfying, and easy--especially for a quick pick-up order.

The raspberry lemonade drinks came out fast, the Longhorn Old Fashioned took forever... and besides that it was a smallish pour. So the beautiful bar is sort of wasted here. They need more bartenders. For mains ... one in our party had the Parmesan Crusted Chicken (a 4 star selection of tender chicken breast grilled, cut into strips, and crusted); another had the Cowboy Pork Chop (a 4.5 star offering of two very tender chops and the hit of the night); and the last diner had the Chop Steak (2 stars as this meal was ordered MW to Well and came out red, and the baked side potato came with the wrong toppings). So we had some good and some miss. Service was very slow, and only came around to ask how the meals were when we were half done. The third diner didn't want to send his back then because everyone would have been done by the time it returned. No floor manager worked the tables either. So all-in-all 3 stars ... most of the food was 4 stars, while service and libations were 2 stars ... averaging 3 stars overall. Another nit was the suggested gratuity on the tab ... it's calculated after taxes; so why would anyone want to add gratuity on the tax?

I know it'll be there by my next visit, which will be soon. A seller for me is homemade pasta with an option for gluten free. If it was organic it's a hard 5. No judgement though. Frankie's is the spot where you park up by 3:45/3:50 and wait for the doors to open as their hours are short, hot and sweet. This is a tucked away spot packing tons of flavor on the small menu(major hit). Locals pack this spot asap at the bar so be there by 3:45. Haha. The restaurant has nice decor and attentive friendly service. As the server comes to the table with heavy greetings, they run down the special menu. Drinks are always good, nothing intricate but enough to elevate the experience and hit hard. The appetizers are good. I enjoyed the calamari and shrimp as well as the octopus. But now to the star of the show is their pastas. FRIENDLY REMINDER, all are homemade. The Pappardelle w/ Wide Ribbon Pasta, Black Truffle Cream Sauce and Mushrooms is amazing.. I added the gluten free meatballs and yummy. A savory bite. The rigatoni vodka sauce(added sausage) was a hit. Another star of the table was the Linguine w/ Shrimp,Broccoli, Evoo and Garlic. A fully loaded plate. The Gnocchi w/ Ricotta Cheese Filling, vodka sauce.. added meatballs was another hit. The star of the show was our pizza which resembles a meat lovers with pepperoni, Sopressata and Giardiniera (which is more like a relish and I love). I've had other dishes but after multiple countless visits this is what I love at this time. The pizza is cooked in a high heat oven which gives the perfect char, let it settle for a couple minutes as it sits on the table. Overall, when in this part of Illinois hands down the place to be. Hours are only 4-9pm and that says a lot. My only insight would be ask for the bread to be served warm. I'm sure a fresh loaf in the pizza oven for a couple of minutes will go a long way. ENJOY!
