So I decided to give them another try, although I said I was going to give them a break. They almost got everything right but sent me burnt sausage. The sasuage was so dry, it was inedible......A disappoionting follow up from the burnt omelette.

Yiayia's Café is my go-to spot every month. The staff are always so welcoming and even remember our favorite booth (love that). Their specials are constantly switching things up, so there's always something new to try, but I always come back to their avocado toast, it never misses. Cozy vibes, great food, and people who make you feel at home. 10/10 recommend.

Was running errands and had a taste for soup. I had Yiayia's chicken noodle and my guest had their famous Lemon Rice. Just what we needed!

I ordered a veggie omelet, hash browns well done and pancakes. As you can see, my hash browns were not well done, and my omelet was not cooked thoroughly. Yuck. My friend ordered scrambled w cheese. Couldn't the cook (I use that word loosely) take a little pride and cook the order to order, or did the server not take our order down correctly? Can't Yia Yia purchase fresh deli cheese and not use cheese that individually wrapped. Gross!!! At least melt the cheese and make it at least look more appetizing for 45$$. We certainly won't be back.

Yia Yia's is the kind of breakfast spot where everyone will find something on the menu they like! They have a nice list of coffee beverages which I appreciate. But don't expect foam art;) The decor and food are just what you'd expect at a breakfast spot. We've always had awesome servers too, perhaps it's because you pay up at the front. That can be a bit of a crowd - people trying to pay, people trying to put their names on the wait list (there's rarely a wait list-the space is so big!) They keep things old school and haven't updated to the hand held "I'll check you out right now" devices. And while the business person in me WANTS them to update, it's also kinda nice to be at breakfast place where there's not a sense of urgency to get in/get out. They let you stay to sip your fancy coffee beverage:)

Still delicious. This is still my favorite breakfast place. The ponchos tacos are still delicious. The peppermint mocha is super yummy for the holidays and the chicken pita was good. It's still very cute and warm inside. Fast service. The staff is always friendly. Laura is our favorite favorite server. She is so pleasant and always happy. We love coming here to see her. Actually, she's one of the main reasons why we still keep coming because of the wonderful beautiful person she is. This place is still a must dine at!!

The food was absolutely delicious, fresh, and beautifully prepared, and the service was warm and welcoming. Our server even packed our leftovers for us right at the table, which I think is such a great extra touch. I started with the Avgolemono soup, which was one of the best I've ever had! The portion is large enough to split between two people. Otherwise, it will definitely fill you up. For an appetizer, we ordered the fried zucchini, and it was incredible! Perfectly crispy and full of flavor! For dinner, we had the Pastitio, which was also one of the best we've had, rich and flavorful. We also tried the Shrimp Tagliatelle; while it was well prepared, the parsley flavor was a bit too strong for my taste. Overall, a wonderful meal and experience. I would absolutely come back and highly recommend it!

The moment I stepped inside, I felt like I had been transported to a small Greek taverna. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and our server was incredibly friendly and welcoming. One of the highlights for me was being able to order and converse in Greek, it made the experience feel that much more authentic and special. Of course, I couldn't decide on just one dish, so I had to order a little bit of everything. Why not? The saganaki was absolutely delicious and is definitely a must-try. The avgolemono was decent and comforting, though it wasn't quite as memorable for me. The pastitsio was a bit of a mix. The flavor was delicious and packed with that classic Greek comfort-food goodness, but unfortunately, the béchamel was overcooked and had become too firm. Overall, between the friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, and flavorful food, I had a very good experience at Greek Islands. There are still plenty of classic dishes I'd like to try, so I wouldn't hesitate to come back the next time I'm in Chicago.

Value (B) It is a bit pricey but not too bad around $35/person for lunch for 2 and an appetizer. They have a small plates menu which might be the lunch menu. Service (A) Excellent friendly and polite service. Got the food out fairly fast. And waitstaff was super nice and respectful. Even packed up the leftovers- did a great job Food (A-) I got the combination plate and it tasted exactly how it did 20 years ago. This is both a positive and a negative. Taste was excellent - especially the lamb, meatballs and sauce over the rice and dolmas. Great portion size also. Will get stuff. Came with potatoes and veggies. On the negative it tasted very heavy. I was expecting it to be "lighter". Not sure I am describing it correctly. I am going to order it again as it's excellent but I think I am eating a ton of butter and or oil. Maybe I am not but something gave it the heavy feel. Also with bread service - I appreciate they provide it but feels very 90s. Thr bread was okay and the butter was the small little packages of butter. So I really do like this place and am being overly critical so I would strongly recommend going for a safe bet Greek place. My recommendations for them 1. Too many options on the menu - need to skinny it down 2. Higher quality bread and butter 3. An actual simple lunch menu. Would have loved a combination plate lunch portion for $16.99 vs a dinner portion at $25.99

Molos did not just deliver, it set a new standard for our little group dinners. We started with the Pikilia tasting plate and built our own trio of spreads. The roasted red pepper hummus was the unanimous table favorite, bold and deeply flavorful. The melitzanosalata was earthy and subtly sweet, a quieter but beautiful complement. The tirokafteri was good on its own but genuinely shone when swirled together with the other two. And the pita. That pita. Pillowy and soft with just enough structure to carry a generous pile of spread without collapsing. Outstanding. The fried zucchini with skordalia was fresh and light tasting despite being fried, a real trick. The potatoes needed a touch more salt to fully wake up but were otherwise solid. The saganaki was a table highlight, lit tableside with a proper OPA moment, gooey and beautifully crisped on top. Think mozzarella stick that went to finishing school. Mains were all exceptional. The filet mignon was wonderfully cooked, the EVO lemon sauce bringing a bright refreshing contrast to the richness of the beef. The pork chops were well charred and seasoned with the same confidence. The chicken ala feta was bright, light, and satisfying all at once. Dessert was a sampler of everything on the menu, all some gorgeous variation of creamy whipped filling, phyllo dough, honey, and nuts. Every single one cohesive and complementary. We tried them all and had no notes. We sat outside on a lovely evening, left with leftovers for days, and paid a price that felt almost unreasonably fair for what we got. The atmosphere is still delightful with little sparkle lights along the windows and plenty of outdoor seating. They've added an Instagram wall ("Ouzo made me do it"). For mains, and vegetarians can get the spanakopita; a buttered macaroni with cheese; or combine various tasty dips from the appetizer section. There's also salad which I ignore. The online menu has a few appetizers I didn't see (zucchini with skordalia! Oven-baked lima beans!). Warning, at least where I was sitting: the booths can move (not nailed down) - be careful when you get up. I got the chef's special spanakopita/tiropita and the roasted potato; be very specific when ordering as I was served the special "Molos Greek potato" with garlic yogurt and shredded cheese, which was fine but not what I wanted. The spanakopita and tiropita were tasty, with a good ratio between filo and filling, served on a folded cloth napkin (great idea, even perfect filo-wrapped items can be a bit greasy). Service started a little slow, as there was apparently a big party (they do that and they cater now). It was OK though I'm not sure English was my server's first language. I'll be back for the moussaka, which looks great (someone at the next table ordered it) and will be very precise when ordering my roasted Greek potato. Hopefully with a side of giant lima beans in tomato sauce.
