Went to Bad Axe on a Thursday night for a date night with the hubby. It wasn't busy, so we were able to grab a line as a walk-in, no reservation needed. The "coach" was super nice and walked through safety guidelines and how to throw the axe. She continued to check on us through the night to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. There are two kinds of axes to try. I liked being able to switch it up. I was awful but still had fun! They have a small food menu of nachos and pizza along with a refrigerator of beer, White Claw, and Angry Orchard hard cider. (It would be great if in the future, they carried local drinks like Lost Boy Cider and Port City Brewing. Not super important, but locals supporting locals is always a nice touch that i notice when i go out). Overall, we had a great time. As opposed to some of the other reviews, the staff member never pressured us to leave. This could be because it wasn't busy. Either way, we felt welcome the whole time. A time was had! We were three couples out on a couples date (followed by dinner), and we had a time. We had two lanes and competed men versus women. It was kicks! They sell snacks, but you can bring your own too! Go! You'll be glad you did. read more

Customer service could use some tuning. Delayed service. Maybe two staff members on a Friday evening which was fine but customers shouldn't have to go find staff to pay for a beer, ask for paper towels in the bathrooms and ask to pay/try to leave. It was like we were in slow motion. Can't hear anyone in here due to the music blasting, sharpening of axes and kids screaming. Also, I was so surprised there were kids under the age of 12 in here allowed to throw. Simple place--come throw and yell at your friends. read more

This was my first time axe throwing, so take my review with a grain of salt. To me, I had a good time. The instructor was very friendly and taught us the different moves and safety measures for throwing an axe. When you first get in, make sure to sign the waiver. Then you will have a zone that you can throw in. After instruction, have a good time. They have some white boards to keep score or write cute sayings on. The food was ok. It's definitely like low budget bowling alley food, so you may want to eat before you get there if you are hungry. If not, then chips, pizza, and beer will work just fine. My son and his friend went and had a blast! No problems reserving and the staff was great!

It was opening night at this establishment. They were still a work in progress with no alcohol or food (first week of Oct 23). They did have regular soft drinks and water. The staff was super helpful for us first-timers (thanks Aleesha). They reviewed the rules, showed us how to throw, and taught us some games. They even kept score for us and were our hype person for a while. They came back also to encourage us and check on us. This was exciting and fun, and we will be back and maybe a future work team building time event. Come and check them out you will have fun. read more

I rarely leave reviews. But here goes nothing, (I don't expect anything to be resolved, I'm simply venting) This business placed a large Instacart order (multiple pizzas and one other item) and didn't leave any tip at all. For context: that means someone had to shop, pay, load, transport, and deliver their heavy bulk order completely for free, while they sat back and benefited. It's disappointing, especially from a business that should understand the importance of valuing people's time and labor. On top of that, the in-store service matched the same energy: the cashier handling the pizzas was very distracted, on his phone, and showed no interest in providing basic courtesy or professionalism. If this is how they treat the people who literally support their operations, I can only imagine how they treat paying customers. read more

We attended an event at Alexandria Bad Axe. While the staff was pleasant, they were very stingy about time. Our booked time was 8PM. However, our "coach" didn't show us how to throw until 8:30. At abruptly 9:30, we were asked to exit our lanes and pay. We did not receive our full 1.5 hours, not to mention there was no one else there waiting for a lane. We were the only people left in the place. Additionally, the website says we're supposed to have a dedicated coach the duration of our event, our coach showed us how to throw, then never came back until it was to tell us to pay. My family had a wonderful time learning axe throwing over the Christmas holiday. I was especially impressed with the Bad Axe team's excellent customer service. Each team member made sure we had what we needed and checked on us often to see if we had questions and to explain new games. It was the perfect balance for a bunch of newbies. Our group of 8 had a great time Saturday night! We reserved 1.5 hours and although some of our party were a little late, our coach did not pressure us or get an attitude. She was the only one on staff but she was phenomenal! We were shown throwing techniques and then a game when we got more comfortable. We all had fun, from the oldest to the youngest, males and females. It was all of our first times and almost all of us were able to get a few axes in. Our coach was Very attentive. The place is small but it was not crowded. Music was loud at first and I didn't like the choice of music. I don't know if our coach heard me mention this, but the music seemed to be turned down a little and it became more bearable. Lol. I would highly recommend. I think the place will become more busy once people catch on to it! I well def recommend! Great job! read more

Bad customer service or business model, you decide. Show up, wait 15 minutes while they finish repairing a board ( place is empty). Then tried to purchase another beer, they told us to wait while they sharpen axes, by the time they return we are ready to leave. We 100% did not receive coaching. Just doesn't make much sense to do "side work" while you could be making money. It's like servers at a restaurant filling salt and pepper shakers while customers wait to get their order taken, but in their defense many of the hoards need repairs and axes need sharpening. I would pick another spot if you are looking for axe throwing. I appreciate your offer but no thanks. One more thing my husband just pointed out, they charged us the same price for 45 minutes as it says it is online for an hour and half. read more

Reserved for a birthday party. Nobody showed to open the establishment and left us hanging. Called us less than a half hour before our reservation to tell us they couldn't accommodate. Had to turn our guests away. Careful with this one. Our daughter and friends were really excited. read more

What a great experience!! I put off doing this thinking "beer and axe throwing, what could possibly go wrong" lol!!! I was also intimidated. I am now so happy I went and this was a fabulous 1st time experience!!! The gentleman explaining and then teaching us the game was the best!!! Worst experience ever. Went for a date night with some friends from work and it was awful. Showed up at 6 which was the time we reserved and the door was locked. Waited outside for 15 minutes before someone finally opened the door and said "sorry we don't open till 6". Website says 8am-11pm. Got inside and we just stood around and finally went up to the employee and said do we pick a lane or do you give us one? He told us the lane and again we just stood there. Finally he came over and said "do you want me to demonstrate or are you guys ok?" We asked for a demonstration and he gave us a half ass one and then walked away. When asked about beer or food he said they "lost the menu". Then told us to just walk around the counter to the fridge where the beer was and pick something out. Just an overall very bizarre night and I would never go back if I'm being honest. read more
