A hinge got stuck, we ended up wasting about 10-15 minutes, using two clues (which told us to do what we had already done) and were unable to finish. They are so tightly booked that there was no grace and we did not get to finish the puzzle. We've done escape rooms multiple times before but this was by far the only one that was disappointing. read more

I'm giving it 5 stars for the customer service because we sucked and didn't make it out . Took someone here for their birthday but was running behind by 15-20mins because of some hellish traffic getting into the harbor. I was able to call 15mins before to let them know and they were very gracious about it. They didn't take any time off of our session either. I love that the rooms are just for your group because while trying it with strangers can be fun, it's def hit or miss depending on how those people vibe. We had the Batman room and only got as far as the jail cell/second room before we had to leave to make a dinner reservation. What the hell were we supposed to do with those chains !? I spent the rest of the day googling it hoping someone would spill the beans but no luck haha. I must've missed the rating while booking because apparently the difficulty was 8.5/10. This was my 2nd ever escape room. It was clear this was a very used escape room cause one of the pieces were kind of cracked. We did the Scooby-Doo room and it was very linear. My group had 8 people and it seemed like a bit too many people. Not too much to split up to divide and conquer. Maybe I was just spoiled my first escape room was super fancy. This one was good, everything worked. Just some of the pieces need some upkeeping. read more

I've never done an escape room before and we didn't even know they had one down here until we happened upon this place. I was hesitant at first to do this, but now, I think I'm hooked. You can reserve online prior to coming here, which will allow for you to plan your trip. As someone else had stated, the staff here are extremely nice and informative on their rooms. They are also helpful in a manner that has nothing to do with the rooms. They kind of nudge you to where you need to go. Basically common sense things, like use the restroom now before you enter the room. Make sure that you get the room you want as certain ones fill up for the day fairly fast. When we visited, what sounded like the most fun was the Scooby-Doo themed one, but that was completely booked for the day. Instead we went with their 7 Deadly Sins Room. Once inside the room you get a brief overview and then are directed to watch the tv screen for the lowdown on the room. After that is done, you are on your way to escaping. We buzzed around the room and continued our way throughout. If you get stuck you can ask for help along the way. However, each time you ask for help they tack on time to your end result. Sometimes you just need that nudge. Unfortunately for us, we were in the last part of the room, but just couldn't get the last thing fast enough. They were kind enough to show us what the last clue would have lead us to and how it would have ended if we had gotten there. Once done we were able to have our picture taken as failures. But we enjoyed it so much and took on another room since it wasn't booked. Our second room was the Mansion Murder, which was a bit harder than the first room. We needed some nudging in here. I can also confirm what one person has stated is that a puzzle was broken in here. We had all the pieces to it and the door wouldn't open. However, when we buzzed for help, after a few times, they finally released what that puzzle was for. They basically told us what we already figured out, my friend and I told them we had that and then that puzzle released. It was unfortunate, and I hope they got that fixed. Even though I wound up cursed and framed for murder I enjoyed myself a lot here. It got me hooked. Biggest gripe, the pricing. Compared to other escape rooms in other areas, this one is a bit steep. read more

My friends and I decided to try out Escapology while we were in the area on a mini getaway. There were several rooms to choose from with varying difficulties. I wasn't crazy about the person working at the front desk handling our check-in, but it didn't deter me from enjoying the experience. We went with Scooby-Do, which was the only logical choice for my first time doing an escape room. The instructions were very clear, and we ended up beating the clock. We ran into one hiccup with something malfunctioning and we were given back a few minutes to make up for it. We had a party of seven, but I think this would have been more fun to do with a smaller group. This was a fun activity for us to add onto our agenda for the weekend. read more

If I could give this location zero stars I would. We went on Saturday night 4/12. When we got there we seemed to be the only ones there which was cool. We were a group of 5, and picked the hardest game which was 50$ per person. When we got into the room, everything was explained and we started. As soon as the employees left, we noticed things were left out, open, as if the room was not properly reset. We hit the bell more than 3 times for attention, which we shouldn't have had to do since again we were the only ones there. Once the employees finally came back, we were told to leave the room so they could properly reset it. We asked if our time would be added back for the inconvenience, they said yes, but it in fact was not added back. Throughout the whole game we had to hit the button multiple times for clues, we continued to go through the game noticing things still were not reset which is why we couldn't advance. Once we finally got to the end and finished the last task, it wasn't even registered that we finished so we yet again had to hit the bell 3 times just for the employee to then come in and say "oh yall done". After the game, we asked to speak to management about the terrible service and preparedness. The one employee who went to get the manager was locked out of the office as if it were a joke, all the other employees laughing at him when we can clearly see they are on joke time. The supervisor seemed less than apologetic, didn't acknowledge the fact that the room wasn't reset, that our time was never added back, and didn't got not one "I'm sorry for the experience" she told us the owner would call us Monday, which he did not, we had To call him Tuesday. On the phone he was rude, told us he would not even give us a refund (even tho we didn't ask for one, we would've been happy to been invited back for a free game or a discount or any sort of accommodation) and proceeded to tell my friend "we get people like you all the time, more than once a year" not sure if that was a race comment or not, but at the end of The day the service was terrible, management was terrible, and the employees are on joke time. Let it be known it's not about the money, we have plenty of it. It's about the poor experience we were given with no attempt to rectify it. The management then called us back and said "oh I was going to give you a refund until you left a bad review" when he clearly said on the phone he wasn't. Don't try to save face because we decided to leave a review to warn other Customer to not go to this location. No refund or accommodation has been provided, if it is MAYBE our review will be changed. Do not go to this location, every other location in the dmv is amazing! read more

My family had a great experience. We did the Mansion Murder. It was pretty challenging, but you figure things out when you think about it hard enough and try to think outside the box. We did have to get a few hints. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They explained everything well. Thumbs up to Taye and Christian. The room was well set up with an authentic feel that makes you part of the story. We plan to return for another escape. read more

I visited Escapology for my husband's birthday over the weekend. The location is good and the place was nice. We did the "Th3 Cod3" escape room. The host was friendly. It was quite noisy in the beginning though, as there was a group of girls in the lobby that were extremely noisy. We would have appreciated if someone had asked them not to be so loud. It was hard to hear our host and tv at first. The place was clean. I appreciate some level of difficulty but we didn't feel like there was enough instruction to know where to begin. I've done several other escape rooms and others didn't seem to need as many clues to move forward. It was fine but not sure we'll be back. It's way too expensive. $175.00 for 4 people to play a 1 hour game hardly seems like a good deal. read more

We did the batman room that was sold as an 8 person room. The rooms were very tiny and so unbelievably hot. It was very frustrating that it was physically impossible for 8 people to collectively work on the room together so I essentially paid $110 to watch from separate rooms as my friends try to solve the room. There was just no way for all of us to engage, as a matter of fact it made solving some of the clues more challenging because of limited space. Really should have been sold as a 4 person room felt like a money grab to us. read more

The person sitting at the front desk was aloof, very disengaged, focused more on his drawing at the front desk. He offered no assistance. We would ask a question and he would ignore us. There was another employee sitting on the couch disengaged and when we were headed to our room she yelled out, "what room they go to?" Once in the escape room, it was fun, but then we smelled a heavy odor of pot. Not good. I don't spend my money to smell pot. It was very strong and I imagine they were in the room right next door smoking it - unless, of course, that was part of the game. read more

Our group went back in December and we did 7 deadly sins. Glitches and multiple issues in the room prevented us from escaping the room. Manager told us we'd be on the list to get a "free room." We called the other day to get our free room and were told we weren't on any list. We decided to give them another try and did Mansion Murder. Glitches and misleading clues again prevented us from escaping. Spending over $300 each time we visited, the rooms should be pristine and without any errors. We will not be returning to any escapology locations. We have done many escape rooms and this by far is the worst. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. For starters we start the game and all the doors in the room were already unlocked. They did not reset the room before we started. Then after ten minutes of us trying to get their attention we have someone from our party go out to tell them. The staff member tells all of us to leave the room so they can reset it and then didn't give us our time back. We go back in and continue the game but when we request a clue they clues would not populate on the screen. This happened at least 10 times during the hour game. When we get to the end we had to complete a task in a certain sequence which we did it still would not complete as if we weren't doing it correctly. The staff member can back in and ask us if we did it the correct way which we stated we did at least 5 times. When we finished we requested to speak to a manager and the young staff members decided this was the best time for them to be playing around. They decided to lock him out of the office and were laughing at him while we had serious concerns. The manager on duty said she would let the owner know and he would be in contact on Monday. The manager never called so we had to call today. The owner lied stating he watched the video and said he did not see anybody leave the room and lied about the clue populating. He had no care or concern for our experience and did not offer any type of resolution. The sad part is we have frequented this place several times and have brought many people to this establishment and will be making sure we let everyone know not to go back there. Very terrible experience. The owner took no accountability for the staff members lack of professionalism either. The owner also called back and stating He was going to give us a refund until he saw we completed a review even though he had already stated he was not going to be giving us one. He also stated that every year he has to deal with someone like us attacking our character when we have brought them plenty business before. Very poor customer service from this business. I went with my son to do the Scooby Doo room. Sydney was our room host and did a great job! we enjoyed working with her so much, we asked her to be a part of our photo at the end! A broken puzzle prevented us from completing the escape room. Staff acknowledged the issue but didn't offer any kind of compensation. I would have been happy with 5 minutes added to our time to make up for the time we wasted on that puzzle, but another group was coming, which is understandable. In that case, in my opinion, a voucher for each member of our group for another visit could have been offered. Because of the issue with the puzzle, I can not recommend this establishment. Staff was very kind, and the theme of the puzzle was very cool. I was enjoying it very much prior to the error, which is why it was so frustrating to miss out on the completion. read more

I've never been to an escape room before, but the one I did here was incredible. The staff were amazing; our receptionist Michelle was very courteous and the assistants Prase and Trinity made this first time experience easy to understand.
