He said that he no longer offered food as he was leasing his kitchen out to the restaurant. The Mexican restaurant recently opened and had a long wait list, so this was a perfect option. I think that Dukes is more than just your typical local corner tap with a lot of potential for a good time and interesting conversations. We really enjoyed our time there!

There were literally a dozen soups to choose from for our flights. I picked sausage tortellini, clam chowder and stuffed pepper for my flight. It also comes with a piece of cheese/garlic bread. Not only were the soups nice and hot, they were all tasty. This sentiment was shared by my dining partners. The staff were friendly and helpful. The drinks were reasonable and well made. We were a pretty sizeable group, about 15 or so strong, so I am sure our unannounced entrance was a bit overwhelming upon their immediate opening. Nevertheless, the bartender immediately asked the group "How many bloody mary's am I making?" Everyone was served along with the regular customers coming in for late breakfast/early lunch. I think there were only 2-3 staff members working and they handled it like champs. They were so nice and got everything out to the customers. I only had the opportunity to drink here, and while I was sad to see no dark beer options, a Summer Shandy is always a good failsafe. While it is not super close to home, I am definitely planning to make it out here again soon to actually enjoy the food as well. Definitely worth checking out if you're anywhere nearby!

We ended up buying a house within stumbling distance, and needless to say, the Malt House has become a favorite neighborhood hangout. The bartenders are friendly, and if you have questions about any of the beers in their gigantic selection, they will gladly tell you what they know with no beer snobbery whatsoever. They occasionally have live music, but it's acoustic, so it doesn't get too loud in the tiny space. It's far enough away from downtown that it doesn't get obnoxiously crowded. They don't have food, but you can order delivery or bring your own in with you. I LOVE this bar. Period.
