Got there on Saturday, prime rib special. Without exaggeration the 1/3 of our steaks were solid fat and I am not talking about the smaller ones between the muscles. Green beans that were served either were in the microwave or it wasn't stirred when in the oven because half was warm the other half was cold like just thawed. Service was subpar, she had no intention of telling us about the menu or even offered dessert after meal. Despite it being calmer we barely saw our waitress for refills or additional drinks. Was in Wisconsin dells and this place was like 3 minutes from me. Food looked good online and seemed like a local favorite. Walked in for a late night dinner date. Sat at the bar, ordered some wings and the broasted chicken with ribs. They got my wings flavor wrong but I decided to just keep them cause I was hungry. Everything came out pretty quick and the food was really good. Never had broasted chicken before but it was delicious and the ribs were falling off the bone. Cool atmosphere and the bartender Stephanie was great. Also chatted it up with some friendly people at the bar. Great experience and wouldn't mind going back when in the area. read more

The food here is horrible. 2 ordered steak which was like shoe leather and rare, when ordered medium well. Chicken was burnt and small pieces. Returned the chicken and said just bring a medium done burger. Came out with blood soaking into the bun. Bartender had an attitude, was very crabby. First of all, we started out here earlier today. We had a good bloody mary and an excellent old fashioned. Terra knows her stuff! The spicy jalapeño cheese curds were the best cheese curds that we have had yet. We then came back for supper. Too say the least we are stuffed. The service was great, and we got talked into some good desserts but oh my we should have stopped. He had the new york strip on special. It was flavorful and delicious. I had the boasted chicken which was pretty darn good. The prices are pretty very reasonable, and if you have room ... IF... then go for the cheesecake or brandy Alexander. I love the wooded, old school supperclub ambiance. It is just a neat place to go. The staff is great to hang out with and the scenery is what I go to the dells to see. We enjoyed eating outdoors, but my meal left a little to be desired. I had the kickin' chicken sandwich which, from the photo on the menu, looked really appealing. It ended up being a little more than what seemed like a thin frozen breaded chicken patty. It was described to have a Nashville chicken flavor and Mike's hot honey, but it really did not have much of either. We also got the mahi-mahi sandwich, which also was supposed to come with Mike's Hot honey, but which was nothing but sweet and rather disappointing. My Rubin was dry (as in not nearly enough sauce), came with a tiny serving of fries, and what really pissed me off was being charged for the side of mayo I wanted for my fries. Can't say I really disliked anything.... Just didn't love anything either, except maybe the service (that was pretty darn good)! The River's Edge Pub looks like your average bar/restaurant from the outside, inside it's pretty nice! Very rustic with a feel of large cabin in the woods. It has a huge fish tank in one of the dining rooms which is unique. This seems to definitely be a "locals" place. For such a touristy area, it's nice to find the "non-tourist trap" places, so this fits that bill very well. Also is a little cheaper than most places in the Dells. I ordered the ribs, with a baked potato and corn. It came with really good breadstick. I also ordered a cup of Cheeseburger Soup. The ribs where a bit overdone which made them a little dry. I liked the flavor (they use Sweet Baby Ray's sauce). And there was plenty of meat on the bones. The cheeseburger soup was a let down. Way too cheesy. Tasted like hamburger chunks in a thick cheese sauce. I'd pass on this. (I was the "soup of the day" so others might be a good choice) Was very impressed with how quickly I was seated and served. The cheese curds, giant pretzel, and the charm are def 4 stars. The prime rib and other entrees were just 3 stars . This is one of our favorite local Dells places! If you're a tourist it's pretty close to the Wilderness but it has a very local vibe to it which is really fun. Our waitress was so nice and accommodating and overall it feels like a friendly and welcoming place. They have specials every night which was so nice to experience on a busy Friday night! We had the prime rib, Caesar salad, and a side of fries and everything was very good! They give a VERY generous pour for both wine and cocktails/mixed drinks and their bar is huge and a fun place to sit. read more

The pan seared walleye and deep fried shrimp was delicious and exactly what we were Looking for. The walleye and shrimp had a light coating and the delicate flaky walleye and shrimp were buttery and light. Fast service was a surprise as my husband and I arrived at 5:30 pm in the heart of the dinner rush. The restaurant had a Upnorth woods decors with interesting wildlife on display. However don't let the name fool you I thought with a name like rivers edge I would get a table with a lake view no view at all my view was of the alley way no lake in sight at all. Also if you're bringing a little one here just know that it's a single bathroom and no changing tables for the babies. River's Edge is a local gem, hidden away from the Overpriced chaotic restaurants on the Dells main drags. Don't get me wrong, Rivers Edge gets busy at night too, but they're worth the wait. Large place so it mostly moves along fairly quickly. Staff is so nice. Good amount of options for beers on tap. Food is good! Reasonable priced and ample portions! We like the ribs with vegetable and fries. You can eat at the bar if seats are available. read more

We had high hopes as this place was recommended by a local. Our meal began well with cheese curds that were the best we've had. I ordered the mushroom swiss burger and it was underwhelming. The bun, cheese and burger all seemed high quality but there was no seasoning on the burger and they use untreated canned mushrooms. It was probably the worst mushroom swiss I've ever had. Rustic decor was pretty cool. Wood beams and all. Everyone in our group was happy with what they ordered. We had the buffet, steak and shrimp, bacon cheeseburger and soup and salad. We take an annual travel baseball trip up to Wis Dells. The team always goes to River's Edge. They always accommodate the big groups. They spilt checks, they are tolerant and we appreciate their hospitality. The menu is big, and the food is better than average bar food, it's typically good. Our group really like the salads over the years, and you can't go wrong with their daily specials. The cheese curds and pretzel are recommended apps. Burgers are decent and so are the fries. Everyone likes the fried fish. The drink menu is extensive. The service can be slow...but, they are accommodating all these big teams/groups, so it's easy to forgive that, especially since the servers are very nice. read more

Rivers Edge has been our family's favorite for many years, and I had done a 5 star review around 2016. It holds a special place in our hearts because it was my Dad's all-time favorite and when we had our annual week in the Dells and back then we would eat here multiple times a week. Fast forward to 2023, the last couple of years (since COVID), the quality of food has gone down, but we give it another chance hoping things go back to pre-COVID quality. Felt a candid update was needed - it hurts my heart to update but felt it's necessary. I always get the grilled shrimp - they have been noticeably smaller, meat quality was superior - now average, food was flavorful - used to be outstanding, up there with high end supper clubs in the area. Staff/service is still very good. Atmosphere is excellent. Quality of food is lacking. Not sure if it's new management or change in suppliers or going with lower-cost/quality meats/seafood but I hope things are kicked up a notch back where they used to be. We miss the pre-COVID Rivers Edge. read more
