Great find! Fantastic atmospheres and fantastic brews! We stopped in here to catch up on some emails. Outlets were readily available, table and chairs were comfortable and the wifi was free and working! I ordered a sampler. 4 beers for $8. Not bad! In my opinion the beer is ok, the staff is nice but it is so loud in there as they turn the music to go over thr people talking which just makes everyone talk louder. I often get the rootbeer as there just isn't anything I like on tap. read more

I LOVE BADGER HILL. We'd been meaning to come here forever, and I'm so glad we finally did! 1. Most of their beers are delicious. We had already had probably half of them at various times and places, so we knew they would be. We got two flights, to try everything on tap. You know how usually you get a flight and 1 is delicious, 2 are OK, and 1 is bad? 3 delicious, 1 OK was a more appropriate ratio here. They had the stout and the Traitor on nitro. Traitor (IPA) on nitro was a new experience for me as I've only had nitro stouts in the past. I liked it! It just felt really smooth. 2. The employees are amazing. It was Rich and ...we never caught the other guy's name on staff. Even though it was busy, we had full conversations with both of them throughout the evening. 3. TONS of parking available. 4. The atmosphere was great! Nice rustic vibe (but still clean-feeling, which I appreciate). Chalkboard walls in the restrooms. Lots of board and card games available! Don't forget to bring a book you're done with, because they've got a little library! 5. Someone gave us free cake! Which always adds a little extra sparkle to a place. More relevant information, however, the only food they sell is artisan popcorn, but you can bring in takeout or get delivery. They actually have a "menu" of delivery options. read more

This is a taproom, which means no on-premises food. You can order from nearby takeout, and they have a regular food truck schedule. They also sell popcorn. The beer is really quite good. Not as adventurous as some breweries, but if you stay away from the gimmicky beers (Fruit Snacks, I'm watching you!) you'll be fine. Depending on their production schedule, the tap selection can be overweighted in a particular style. The Traitor and Hop Hill are go-to beers. Staff is friendly. It can get busy on weekends when taproom tour buses arrive. Sodas for sale and free freezies for kids. There's a small patio, and a selection of games. Be careful when you sit on the pews as they can be tippy. read more

There is nothing particularly exciting about Badger Hill and that's the problem. Located in a industrial Shakopee area across from Valley Fair, this may be a brewery worth stopping by if you are there and craving something cold in the summertime, but not at all a brewery to go out of your way for. The taproom itself felt a bit outdated. They had a patio which I'm sue is nice enough in the warmer months. The area inside featured a dusty old piano in a corner, alongside some sofas in the lounging area, then a decent assortment of hi-tops and community tables leading to the bar and beside it. I guess they did everything they could to maximize seating in this smallish space, yet it kind of feels like it lacks a personal touch to it. I only had one of their year-round offerings at the taproom, Hop Hill, their take on a pale ale, which had no unique features about it. If you want something light to drink, you can't go wrong with it but don't expect to be blown away either. The Badger Snack is a kick of peanut butter in stout form. It is not a balanced flavor profile, this one is all peanut butter! I enjoyed it enough but there are other stouts and porters along the same lines which I prefer and consider to be more drinkable. F5 Refresh packs a whole lot of tart, which doesn't overpower your palate because after that initial hit you get a burst of fruitiness taste. That was likely the best beer I tried that day. The biggest disappointment was Ekuanot Hazy IPA. I love hazy IPAs so whenever I see one that is new to me I gravitate to it pretty quickly, sadly this was a very weak attempt at one. It barely had the characteristics of what makes this style so unique and interesting to me. It lacked flavorful hops or that smooth drink that most beers in this style possess. This might be a good beer for someone trying their first hazy IPA because it has such a mild taste. Yet, for me, this was a letdown. I'd rather try Badger Hill beers as I had before, when I see it at the liquor store or bar in the cities. I likely would not go back to the taproom when there are so many better breweries so much closer to my area. read more

I have been here twice. Sort of tricky to find and it's in an industrial park area next to my pillow. Would be a challenge at night. Very small brewery. All bar stools taken. Order at counter brewery. Free samples, tv watching area. My favorite beer is Minne Ale Kolasch and growlers are only $10.00. They will take other breweries's growlers. Has outside area that is across the road from Valley Fair. In my opinion, their logo is boring and non descript. An actual Badger would have been neat, but maybe it would be too close to Wisconsin Badger and then a can of worms gets open. My dog was allowed inside. Depends on bartender. I came here on a lazy Saturday afternoon. I was surprised to see that it is really close to Valleyfair. It makes me want to drop the kids off and run across the street to Badger Hill! It's time for a taproom breakdown! - Everytaproom needs a place to order drinks from, these guys have it. The bar was empty and no problems getting my flight. - Flights! Yes, they have them and a good selection of beers to chose from. - Obligatory mural on the wall, Right as you walk in you're greeted with a huge mural that represents the brewery well. - Freindly staff, they have them. Say hi and start a conversation. You can't go wrong. - A view of the beer making swag, bright tanks, fermenters, oh my! - Finally, tastey brews! Yes there wasn't a beer that I had in my flight that wasn't the average beer you find at all taprooms. All were good and flavorful. Came here on a Saturday afternoon, soley for the peanut butter porter release. They only made one keg at noon, and it was already out by 2 p.m. They mentioned they had made it before and it sold out just as fast. Not sure why they wouldn't have made at least three to four kegs this time, but oh well. We instead opted for the High Road and Minne Ale, which were both decent and weren't too hoppy. Place is clean and had friendly service. Overall, decent trip here. read more

After my first visit, I can say it is a great little niche bar... I had Badger Hill in a bottle at a poker night as Im from Shakopee, and it pails in comparison to the Traitor on Tap. Much better from the tap and you can't beat $5 pints and $15 growlers with only a $10 refill? WOW...for a 64oz growler? A steal... They fill their growlers in the AM because it takes a while to pour them, so when their gone for the day, their gone, so while I couldn't get the Traitor, I got an ISA and it was VERY tasty. The taproom itself has a couple cable TVs and your typical industrial feel type furniture... I wouldn't necessarily say you could make a night out of the place as they do close at 11 and they DONT have food...yet...however they will let you bring whatever in and order out from whomever delivers... A great addition to Shakopee for sure! read more

Tim and Robert are the funnest, chillest bartenders. They take care of my roommate and I every time we go there during the week. I was so excited to see how busy this place gets on the weekends, its a fun atmosphere. The first impression you get when you walk in is how clean and sanitary it is. The lofted ceilings and industrial park location are very cool. My personal favorite is the MSB (Minnesota Special Bitter) and for only $10 to refill my growler, I almost always have one in my fridge, but I still make it down to the brewery a few times a week. I am bummed to be moving to Denver because this is my favorite local brewery I've ever had in the places I have lived. Having my going-away party there next week to show my support for these guys. read more

This was the first brewery that I went to the area since I've moved here. I'm not a fan of dark brews but Badger Hill does have a few that I don't mind. It is weird how brewery's don't serve food but they have had food trucks come by which is nice. I enjoyed the brews here and will continue to come in the future. read more

Very nice microbrew in the Shakopee area. I am not even a big fan of beer, but I love this place. Perfect spot to unwind after a long day. The only con is that there is no attached kitchen. Four new hard seltzer's have been added since my last visit. Food trucks all the time and a large selection of local restaurants in the area that will deliver! There are around 120 breweries in Minnesota. You have 120 choices where to spend your money and liver enzymes. There is nothing wrong with BH but there is also nothing exciting happening here. There is no difference between some of their ales and what you would get at the beer store marked Summit. Nothing wrong with Summit either but it's no Surly. BH's MSB is indistinguishable from Summit EPA. All I'm saying is this old dog needs flavor. My tastebuds want to run, frolic and live out their days on a farm with a loving family, not in a studio apartment with a couple of cats and a hoarder. read more

I was excited to find out there was a brewery so close but unfortunately the beers didn't do much for me. I tried all 5 of the beers on tap the night I went. The only one I really liked was the Foundation Stout. It was very good. The others... Not so much. My favorite style of beer is IPA, but both examples offered fell short. The white ipa had an odd bitterness to it (and not a hop bitterness, which I love). The Traitor IPA, which I tried both the Nitro and carbonated version, had a muddled tasted to it. Not a clean flavor at all. I expected the nitro version to be better, but the off flavor just stood out more. I really wanted to like Badger Hill, since it's so close, but I'd only come back if they had a food truck I really like. read more

Great beer in a fun relaxed atmosphere! They encourage you to bring in your own food, as no food is served. Food trucks have been becoming regulars in Friday nights and there is always a variety with those. I recommend the Minne-ale Kolsch or the India Session Ale! I love trying new breweries and was excited to try this one when we were in the area. The tap room was decent...but honestly we left disappointed with the beer and service. IPAs are my favorite but the Traitor was not great...kind of generic. My GF loves less hoppy beers and had the High Road pale ale and it was terrible. She couldn't finish it and I couldn't either...it had a strange smell/taste. The Kolsch was better but again pretty poor in our opinion. Service here also was worse than other small breweries. Had to wait in line for quite awhile to get beers when it really wasn't very busy and the girl behind the bar seemed kind of annoyed most of the time. As it got later...clearly she just wanted to go home. Maybe that's why she blocked off the men's restroom making it not useable while she cleaned it at the end of the night...while the brewery was still open and had customers. I hope they can improve the beers and service here. read more

This brewery is tucked into some warehouse space across the highway from Valleyfair. The taproom is cool with lots of seating inside and a few picnic tables outside. The beer is good, easy to drink and simple (but in the best possible way). I know they do some cool specialty brews throughout the year but their regular tap list is reliable. This is my Cheer's brewery. I feel like Norm every time I visit. Unfortunately I only get to visit 5 or so times a year being from out of state. With all the brewery options available in the Twin Cities, you really have to stand out to draw people in. For me Badger Hill didn't do that. Don't get me wrong, they have a beautiful space and good beer. Nothing really stood out enough where I said to myself "Hey, this is really good, I need to come back and have this again." The Foundation Stout was probably my favorite of the 5 beers I tried. Great color and flavor, but again you can find a beer like this at almost every brewery you go to. Came here with coworkers on a Thursday. It was very busy. Lots of beer options but the majority's favorite was the IPA. The location is in a very industrial area so it may be hard to find but they provide signs along the road to guide you to their brewery. It has a clean and spacious taproom with an abundant amount of seating. There is some patio seating outside. I am giving this place three stars because they did not have any snacks for sale. I think it would be a great idea for them to sell chips and salsa or some type of salty snacks so that their customers can munch on food. I thought the whole idea of salty snacks was to help encourage customers to buy more drinks because it would make them thirsty? Guess I'm wrong.... read more

I would highly recommend this place to anyone who likes a great, comfortable, tap house ambience. The beer selection hits the entire spectrum of flavored from light, to bitter, to dark. The bar tending staff is more than helpful to get you the beer you're in the mood for. Personally I wish I could rank this place more than five stars. On a scale of 1-Jean Claude VanDamme, I would say this place is a full aerial spin-kick to the taste buds. This is actually my liver's favorite establishment. Visit, drink, and be merry! read more

I am out visiting from Portland and my family lives in the area, so a friend and I decided to check it out. The space is nice and clean with different options for seating. The beer was alright, however nothing really stood out for me with my sampler. The disappointment came from the inability to fill a growler. I brought my own nice growler from a Portland brewery and the bartender would not fill it. Went on about asking if there was a surgeon general warning label on it, said it was too much work to sanitize it, and finally he didn't want their beer in another brewery's growler (he encouraged me to buy theirs). Not familiar with Minnesota laws and if they restrict this, but it seemed silly that I could not fill my growler with the Kolsch to enjoy at home. read more

Went here while in town visiting family (I'm a native) and loved the beer selection and also the whole setup. My daughter loved playing with the legos and the free popsicles and I loved the Minne Ale the best. No bad beers on tap, that's for sure, and enjoyed our growler of White IPA I brought back to Colorado. If you're stuck waiting for your kids at Valleyfair, this is the place to check out. Had an awesome experience here. Went with my girlfriend and my brother-in-law. I had the blonde ale, which was quite pleasant. They both had the Hexit IPA. Awesome taproom and many different games to play. Bartender was cordial but not overly talkative, which was perfect for a Thursday night visit. We will definitely be back! read more
