Word to anyone looking for a bicycle shop in Clintoville/North Columbus. Do NOT give your business to Baer Wheels. My husband took his bike in to get tuned up in November. You know, because it wouldn't be a rush job. The owner is claiming he can and will rebuild a wheel, but has never finished it and now May is almost over. He's quite literally holding the bike hostage. It's beyond crazy. And when my husband went in today to try to put an end to this nonsense, the guy was all, "I know you don't care..." and my husband said, "That is 100% correct. I literally do not care at this point. Every time I've contacted you, you said this would be over in a month or a week or TOMORROW. I have heard from you directly for the past month that you would complete the work "tomorrow" and it is apparent you do not know that that means." And then the man said my husband triggered him. Sir, you are supposedly running a bicycle shop. Which claims to do repairs. If you cannot rebuild A WHEEL in six months, you are most definitely in the wrong line of work. To sum up: Do not waste your time and energy and seek another shop who can do basic bicycle repair and complete the job. My husband has missed out on more than a month of bicycling weather. Not to mention just not getting what was promised. And this should be zero stars. read more

Big shout out to Dave Baer, owner of Clintonville's Baer Wheels bike shop. He is knowledgeable about all facets--parts, bicycle sales, and equipment. He set me up with a fixed tire, new pedals, new lights. Dave made me aware of better quality lights on sale. He threw in a tune-up at no charge. His long time presence at the farmer's market is a community benefit. Since the pandemic when bike retail was at its zenith, sales and service is slower. The top people at big name places like Trek and Roll have gone under. The stores franchise/corporate owners took over. Small, local cycling businesses struggle to keep up. He's lucky to find and afford part-time help. In short, It's much harder to keep up the same standard of service. Personalities aside, Dave Baer runs a decent bike store. We need to support him so we have a neighborhood small business continue to meet the needs of Clintonville cyclists. Give him a little wiggle room on pick up times and get a date certain when you've waited too long. read more

I took a bike in that I had assembled myself for a tune up and check to make sure I did everything right. The process took about a week from drop off to pickup. The good: Dave is very knowledgeable about bike repair and biking in generally. He gave me some advice on what to look for when I begin riding, and he was careful to point out what he had fixed and why he fixed it. The prices for the repairs were very good and the merchandise prices seemed competitive. I would definitely come back to shop and get Dave's advice on what to buy for biking. The bad (or meh): it's unlikely that you will be given a firm timeline for a repair. If anything, you'll get a vague date range from "a few days to maybe a week." For a small project like checking brakes and the derailleur, that is likely longer than you expect for such a repair. The scheduling option on the website also appears to have little relationship to timing of the repair. If you call in, you'll likely get another vague timing estimate that may or may not be true. However, when I didn't hear back after my second call, I went in to retrieve my bike, which was ready, and I had a pleasant conversation about cycling with Dave. read more

While on vacation our B.O.B. double stroller front tire got a flat. It was not an option to finish the vacation without a stroller for 3 toddlers. Luckily, Baer Bikes was not only able to take us right away (additional same day surcharge) but he replaced and installed the new inner tire tube that was needed for a 12.5 inch wheel. The price was fair and the visit was quick since there were no other customers in the store. read more

A surly Surly bicycle retailer Being in the market for a new bicycle for gravel riding and single track, I called Dave Baer, owner of Baer Wheels. I had a reasonable telephone conversation with Dave regarding my interest in a Surly Bridge Club bicycle. He had a size medium, assembled, on the sales floor, and a size small, yet to be assembled. Unsure of which size would be best for me, I visited his shop the next day. Finding Dave working on a bicycle, I said, "Hello, I'm Mike. We discussed the Surly Bridge Club on the phone yesterday." Dave replied, "I'm busy." Interestingly, I received the identical response from Dave two years earlier, the only other time I was in his shop. I asked, "Do you want me to leave?" Dave replied gruffly, "Not if you want to give me money for a bike." I said, "I may." He then reluctantly agreed to show me the assembled Bridge Club, but he appeared increasingly annoyed with each new question. After determining that a size small would be my best fit, Dave informed me that he had the exact Bridge Club I wanted, but it was in a box, unassembled. I told him I was very interested. He took my contact information and agreed to call me when he had the bike assembled. He anticipated it would take him a week to 10 days. His final words to me were, "If you haven't heard from me, it's not done." His message was clear: Do not call me. After doing more research on the Surly Bridge Club, I texted Dave two days later to let him know I definitely wanted the bicycle and would be happy to give him a deposit. I received no response to my text. After more than six weeks later, there's been no word from Dave Baer. I visited eight bike shops in Columbus, including Baer Wheels. None had the type of bicycle I was looking for in stock, but in all of the other shops, I received excellent customer service. I enjoyed a career in an industry that requires nothing less than exceptional customer service. Therefore, I feel qualified to pass judgment on Dave Baer's attitude and approach, which not only falls woefully short of minimal customer service standards, but also disregards personal decency. My advice: Forget Baer Wheels. Try Trek Gahanna or Paradise Garage or REI. You will not regret it. read more

Took my bike there to get a flat repaired. Was told it'd take a day or two, but when I went there three days later there was a sign on the door that said "back in 15 minutes." I waited for 20 minutes and gave up. I called a few times over the next few days and left voicemails, no response. Finally a week later I got a call saying my bike was ready. I went in to pick it up and the guy was surprisingly rude, and didn't apologize for keeping my bike for a week. I'll take my business elsewhere next time. read more

Worst experience in a bike shop EVER. Dave is rude, condescending and the 'fix' that I went in for (for my kid's bike) wasn't done properly. i used to be a bike tech and I love so much about cycling/bike 'culture and community'. If Dave had been my first introduction to the world of bikes and biking I think I would have chosen another sport. When I picked up my kid's bike from its 'fix and service', the bike was as filthy as it was when I brought it in and I don't even think they cleaned the chain but instead just oiled it. The brakes were loose and the seat stem (which had been stuck and which I asked them to free up) was still in the same shape as when I had dropped it off. I'm really not sure WHAT service they performed. My former experience of various shops in California, Colorado and Washington -each places I've lived- has been top-notch and has always exceeded expectation. At Baer--if you like being treated as if you're a burden, you're stupid and you obviously deserve to be punished--you've found your guy. read more

Avoid this business at all costs. If you want to avoid the long winded message below: It has taken over a year and my bicycle repairs are still not completed. Communication has been terrible and generally non-existent. For the gory details, feel free to continue reading. In August of 2020 I engaged with Baer wheels to have some repairs completed on my bicycle after being hit by a car. I received an estimate and an initial timeframe of 2-3 months. After 6 weeks and no communications from Baer I reached out for a status. I was told that Baer would follow up with the folks performing the carbon repair and he would get back to me. A month went by and no response so I followed up again. And again. And again. A similar refrain was provided that Baer would follow up and then I wouldn't get a response. In late December after another call and mounting frustration, Baer did offer the use of a loaner bike. However, I didn't have the size I needed off the top of my head (he had my only bike) so he needed to look and would get back to me. Yet again, no response and with the holidays I wasn't as proactive as I could have been. I then began my regular monthly follow ups beginning again in January and when I was able to get him on the phone I would get the same response. In February Baer decided to close his shop for a month to reorganize inventory, so the answering machine stated. No calls, no communication Finally, in May of 2021 (9 full months after dropping my bike off) I got fed up and texted (now the preferred form of communication per his answering machine). I stated I would begin filing escalating complaints if I didn't get a response. This time, he did respond. The explanation was that his carbon repair people came down with COVID and were out of commission for a while. He finally had my frame back and would have it completed in 2 weeks. I went into the store 2 weeks later and, lo and behold, my bike was still not done. He said he would call me as soon as it was done. Following this I again started my monthly follow ups and have yet to get Baer to answer the phone, respond to texts, or respond to formal complaints I have filed with the Better Business Bureau. Maybe I will have better luck filing complaints with the state attorney consumer protection agency (although I doubt it). I'm taking a risk in writing this review in that I still (now over a year and counting) do not have my repairs completed. As I said in my first line, avoid this company at all costs. It has been a truly awful experience and one I hope to enlighten others on so they don't make the same mistakes I made. read more

As I waited for minor derailleur adjustment (the shifting was basically okay) the chain came flying off and wedged between the cassette and spokes, which took a couple of minutes to free. Also tightened the pedals. Within a few days I got new pedals. Could not remove old pedals with a hex wrench using a one foot pipe for leverage. Shifting was problematic also and I returned. As they were working on the shifting they asked if I had dropped (crashed) the bike. I guess it was way off, but not due to me. I then said they had apparently over torqued the pedals and asked for them to loosen them so I could change them. They said there was no torque maximum for pedals. They failed on first attempt to loosen and had to reposition to get better leverage. LATER I looked it up and manufacturers recommend 20 to 30 foot pounds. They must have been installed double or triple that. I was also concerned they were tightening everything else, on my carbon frame, without using a torque wrench. I hope they have not created hidden problems. I really wanted to like this independent shop, but they don't seem to be highly skilled or interested in improving. I would not trust them, especially with a carbon frame. They are very old school. read more

Still newish to town, I've been looking for a repair shop. The shop is really nice and caught my eyes. I took my bike in because my shifter wasn't catching. The shop had one other costumer when I went in and it took a bit to get my bike diagnosed. Service was a bit curt but I gave it a pass as this seems to be a one man act. I was told the shifter mechanism was acting up and the repair could be done with a quick turn around time (day or two). I was warned it could take longer than that. Being in no rush decided to let them go ahead with their fix and picked up some reasonably priced gear. I received a text a few days later to come get the bike. I was told a new cable had to be installed and thought little of it. Silly me didn't text the shifter before leaving the shop and when I rode the bike again I realized the problem was slightly ameliorated but still wasn't fixed. I later learned from a second shop that this was am extremely easy fix (at 50% lower cost). Might stop buy again for new accessories, but this is not the repair shop for me. read more

Dishonest Baer Wheels owner lacks integrity and basic business and communication skills. I took my bike in for service and repairs in mid March with more than reasonable expectations of the impending demand and supply chain constraints resulting from the pandemic. It would take 3.5 months to discover that I had been continually strung along and lied to under the guise of these constraints. I had to personally stop in the shop every two weeks to get any status updates. David told me initially he would email the quote. Zero emails in 3.5 months. After each visit David told me he was working on the bike and would call me. Zero calls in 3.5 months. After two months of no progress, he finally acknowledged his service inadequacy and "promised" my bike would be worked on. And he claimed to have the parts, one of which I was shown, so supply chain was no longer an issue. I stopped in again after two more weeks and David told me the wheels had been completed. It was now "top priority" (only because I had to stop in again), and only the shifter, the part I had been shown weeks ago, needed installed. Two more weeks, I demanded to see my bike... It had not been touched at all, zero work done, and one replacement part was sitting on top of it. David lied to my face about progress and held my bike hostage with misleading information. Having been tricked and lied to, I look forward to starting the process over at a competent and honest shop. If you choose to spend your money here, at least you can feel good about making a charitable contribution to the helpless. read more

Well, I went into Baer Wheels about a week ago to look at some touring bikes as I am interested in taking a solo tour. The guy (Owner? Employee?) was rude and condescending to me. I said: "I am fairly new to cycling and totally new to touring." The guy said: "Well, that is obvious." He used a rather insulting tone of voice. Keep in mind that was my lead into explaining that I wanted to potentially buy a touring bike from his shop. But I just left without much more talk. I'd rather take my dollars to an establishment that is at least somewhat polite and helpful to its customers. Afterward I went to REI, the Trek store, Paradise Garage, and Bike Source in Dublin and all were helpful and polite. read more

I have no idea how anyone got in and out of this store feeling like they had a good experience. This place gets a 1 because 0 is not allowed. I went to have my bike fixed and to get my head set upgraded (I brought the upgrade part). Dropped it off and had a few minor tune-up related requests. I suppose that went ok. One week later I call and they have not had a chance to look at it. "I'll look at it tonight or tomorrow morning and give you a call back". 3 days later I call and he has not looked at it. 2 days later I call and find out my head set is seized solid and I am quoted a huge price to move on to step 2. No matter, I'll for go the upgrade and just pick up the bike. I show up 20 minutes after opening time, and join the other 3 people waiting at the street until 45 minutes after opening time before the joker shows up. I say something to him about leaving his customers outside, and then letting us in without even an apology or excuse for being late and he literally shrugs it off. He gives me my bike. One of the minor tune up related items was forgotten, and my head set was not returned (my upgrade). I asked him for my head set and Dave says "oh, you want that back?" Duh. No Dave, I want to give you a tip by way of a $75 part since you've treated my so well. So, I leave my bike again because it is not done (I am actually missing a part and can't fix it myself). Let another 2 weeks pass, and a few phone calls and we determine that Dave can't get the part. I get there and Dave is not there. The tech brings me my bike and I have to point out the the brakes are actually rubbing against the tire, and the cantilever won't adjust to the center. The tech immediately starts taking care of it when Dave walks in. Dave yells, "what are you doing with that bike". The tech awkwardly begins to explain, and Dave yells really loud; "get off of that bike I told you to work on blah blah blah". The tech seems very embarrassed and I was beyond pissed. I spoke up and defended the guy for trying to fix Dave's shoddy work. Finally, we ring up my bill (the both of us wanting me out of his store as fast as possible) and, I shit you not, Dave rounds the bill up to the next whole dollar. "Umm, $25.04 for the x, 13.89, for the y, 27.15, for the z, with tax that comes to $70.71, that about $72.......so $72!!". No, Dave, $70.71 is aboutsies $70.71. I pay the actual bill and leave being a bit pleased that I'll never return. read more

It was strongly suggested I check out Baer Wheels for a road bike, and I'm glad I did! Andrew was able to help me, as Dave (owner) was busy working on bikes in the open back area. I highly recommend meeting the two gentlemen. Besides know his stuff, and putting info into layman's terms for me (a beginner), Andrew was just plan awesome. Very relaxed, humorous, knowledgeable, I'm 100% confident that my bike purchase is well suited. The store isn't super huge, but I think it fits Baer's purpose, having a variety of bikes from racing to cruising, and all the way down to toddler bikes. Dave and Andrew put together made my 2 hours worth the time. No high pressure sales; some suggestions, but I never had to say anything more than "Great! I'll keep that in mind." I was able to test ride the bike in the back parking lot, as it was my first time ever on a speed bike, and with SPD clip pedals. Super happy that I got a chance to feel the bike, how it moved, before buying. Buying my Jamis here, it gets the usual manufacturing warranty of course, but also a free adjustment after the first few months of use, and the store covers certain parts/service for the bike's life - awesome! I feel totally confident to call the store if I have any questions about my purchase. To top off the excellent customer service, being stacked with bike repairs, Andrew was able to squeeze my bike into the rotation, put all additions all to my new bike, and have it ready to ride in just under an hour. Was referred here by a friend for a tune up on my road bike. After dropping it off on a Thursday I was told that due to a long wait I wouldn't get my bike back until Tuesday, which was then delayed until Friday! Super frustrating about the delay, but the owner explained that he just lost an employee, and was way backed up. He was understanding of my frustration and made it right by discounting the tune up! Super great of him to do that. The tune up was great, and the bike looked awesome. The service at this shop is phenomenal and the staff are friendly, it's just the timing that was the issue which I happened to read in a couple other reviews as well. I will bring my bike here again for work to be done, just knowing that it may take longer than I would like for some quality service. read more

I have purchased many bike related items as well as a mountain bike from this shop. While the service can be lacking sometimes the knowledge of the mechanics and Dave, the owner is good. The shop carries alot of high end bikes and components as well as some more affordable brands (Jamis as well as some bianchis). Some people tend to get turned off by the gruffness of the staff but who wouldnt be after dealing with urban fixed gear riding teenagers? If your nice and ask use-full and legitimate questions you'll get service. FYI- the sign is back. read more

I guess I've been cycling for too long but when I go into a great cycling shop, I don't expect immediate service if they are really good. I expect the mechanics and owner to be busy. I also expect some good components or the ability to get those components if they don't have them in stock. They'll do both for you here. They'll look it up immediately and call their suppliers or reps or get back to you with the info if they can't find out while you're there. Matt E., I've had my bike tuned up several times due to time/convenience and I've had new components added. One time I did have an issue. I rolled my bike in, they stopped what they were doing, put it up and fixed it while I was waiting. They weren't upset or combative so maybe they did make a mistake with yours. They are moving to a much larger space just north by Oakland Park and High Street in January 2011 so they'll have the ability to expand their component selection. Sure, I appreciate friendly service and you'll get that here if they have time. Also, like Taylor K said, if you have specific questions that will give you specific answers specifically for how, where and why you ride. You don't get that at too many shops. The owner, Dave, has been around cycling, building bikes and fixing them for over 20 years. If you tell him what you want, how you want it and how much you want to spend, he'll tell you exactly what you need. There are some great shops around town that cater to a certain clientele or expertise levels of cycling but this one will cater to you if you have the patience and it will serve you well for different levels of cycling. read more

A big shout out to Dave, the owner, who last weekend helped me when I was in a big hurry and needed a bike lock. He has a very calm demeanor about him, and just being in his presence gave me a little zen. :-) I read some of the reviews from last year and I know he was going thru some tough times with seasonal employees. I'm a small, seasonal biz owner and know what that's like. Good help is hard to find, esp when the employee knows it's a temporary thing. Dave is so knowledgeable and a real treasure in the Clintonville Community. I hope this season goes better for him in terms of employees and he rocks out like the bike star he is! read more

After reading some great and not so great reviews, I tried to give this place a shot because it was closest to my house. On Friday I called and asked some general questions about a tune-up and repair, and told the woman on the phone I'd be in on Monday for a tune-up, a repair, and new tires. She said great, we're open from 10-7 on Mondays. Cool. So I walked my broken bike in the cold to Baer Wheels at 11:15 AM on Monday and it was still closed. I had seen another reviewer have this same problem, I should have listened. As I was standing out front another guy came up and was confused as well. Baer Wheels lost at least two customers today. I love Baer Wheels and I don't even own a bike. I'm an old gardener, and my "bike wheel" garden cart has had two flat tires. The great folks at Baer have got me rolling again and back in the garden. They even found tubes that are more resistant to punctures. They have an amazing assortment of bike accessories, so if I get back to cycling, now in my old age, I will certainly come straight to Baer Wheels--local here in Clintonville. read more

I love this place, and Dave has always taken care of me. I don't know much about bikes, and I'm not by any means a serious rider, but when I ask questions, he has time to answer them. I get that when two people are working in a bike shop, and only one of them really knows the stuff, it's going to be a bit of a wait and it might be distracting... but people complain about other people being taken care of instead of them? Seriously. I just decided today that I won't buy anything else for my bike anywhere else, because Amazon is not going to fix my derailers for 20 bucks, so I want to support my bike shop.. read more

I have LOVED my experiences so far at this shop. They've been at this location for about 9 months and after reading the reviews of their old locations, it sounds like they've made improvements. I am new to cycling so was a little intimidated at first, but after talking with Dave (the owner) multiple times, he eased my worries quickly. I came in to find a new bike saddle and I've been trying out different Terry seats for free thanks to a selection of demo seats. I also wanted to try out road bikes and Dave quickly helped me figure out which ones would be best for me after thoroughly talking to me about my riding preferences. I ended up going back today, and they were still happy to be there even though it was Labor Day. They let me test ride bikes to my heart's content and I ended up buying a Jamis road bike at a really sweet deal. I'm always happy to go back to this shop, thanks to the friendly staff and a great selection. If you need help, this is the place to go. read more

The owner said my repairs would take a week. He was rude and unprofessional at every step of the way. After 2.5 weeks, I called, asking when my bike would be ready, and he proceeded to lecture me that calling only makes it take longer and whining that he's the only employee. (I can see why he can't keep his employees!) Ironically, I tried to get off the phone three times and he kept talking about how I shouldnt waste his time calling about the bike. He said he'd have it done in another day or two. Four days later (the 3 week point) I showed up at the store at 11:00am and said I'd take the bike, done or not. He said he was going to do it in the next half hour. I came back at 6:30, still not done. He said he'd do it as soon as he closed at 7:00 and bring it to my house. At 8:30 he called asking to make additional repairs I had not authorized. I said absolutely not. Then he said "is this one of those situations where it's hard for me to get paid?" I said I'd pay him the agreed price if he ever finished the agreed work. He didn't arrive at my home until 10:30pm! Make the drive to the Westerville Bike Shop instead: polite, friendly, professional, and a 3 day, not 3 week, turnaround time. This was an awful experience and you should stay away! read more

After moving from Austin, TX to Columbus my riding has become more of a fun and fitness activity with the great weather in Columbus and less of a commute to school situation. Baer reminds me of the local shop I loved to go to in Austin, and Baer has even more friendly and more personable folks working in the shop. Both Dave and Steve have been super knowledgeable and eager to find the right bike so that you're getting what is going to be the best bang for your buck. Baer is the only shop in Columbus that carries Jamis bikes, which if you're in the market for a steel road bike, this is the brand to look into in my opinion. I've owned a 2009 Coda Sport for a few years and loved every time I ride it, and I am soon to be the owner for a 2011 Satellite thanks to Baer Wheels. Not only did they help me find the bike I wanted, but they also specially ordered the color I was looking for to be received within the week at a great deal! My girlfriend is also the proud new owner of a women's Satellite (also purchased at a fantastic deal thanks to Dave), and both Steve and Dave worked with her in the most helpful ways to ensure that she got the bike that was going to fit best for her riding preferences. I highly recommend this shop for the fantastic prices, the friendly staff, and the local flavor. Their selection is fantastic too with everything from mountain bikes of all varieties to race quality road bikes. read more

Sometimes he gets to a repair quickly, and then there's today. I took my bicycle in yesterday, 3-ish. I need only a new chain, and an inner tube for the front tire. It's now Sunday at 4, and the bike isn't finish, five bikes waiting. He's the only one in the store, and hasn't gotten to it. Why can this guy not keep staff? Otherwise, he's a nice person. I stopped in after a long bike ride to talk about getting a new bike. My neck was really hurting and I thought my bike frame was too small. When I talked to the pros at Baer, they took one look and said the bike is a good size, but the stem and handlebars were way too low, causing my uncomfortable riding position. They went to the parts wall and picked out an adjustable riser stem and a set of riser handlebars that perfectly fit my bike. I went home, installed the parts, and WOW what a difference. The people at Baer could have tried to sell me a new bike, but instead they were true professionals and solved my problem for under $80. I would definitely recommend the knowledgeable mechanics and salespeople at Baer if you're looking to get your bike fixed or tuned! read more

I don't post negative reviews very often, but I have to with this company. We dropped my bike off to have the brakes fixed LITERALLY 6 months ago. We checked in with him after 4 months - we were trying to be understanding with how busy they must be with COVID and the season. After checking in, they said they'd make us a priority since it had been so long. Called several times afterwards to check in and now it's 2 months later. My husband just stopped in and he hasn't even touched it - NO APOLOGY AT ALL. I haven't had my bike all summer and no apology. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Very grateful for the fantastic customer service that I received last week. I was reluctant to come in because I am not very bike-savvy and had tried and failed to fix my flat tire and thought that I had damaged it in the process. Although they were very busy, Dave (the owner) agreed to have his employee fix it while I waited. When I asked if I could watch him fix it to learn how to do it if it happened again, he offered to give me a tutorial himself. He gave me a very thorough and informative demonstration on how to fix a flat all while continuing to attend to his busy shop. We are fortunate to have this resource in Clintonville. Baer Wheels is a pretty miserable excuse for a bike shop. First off, they don't even have a sign any more. This should probably portend the slew of things that will make your experience suck, that's for sure. First off, the store is an absolute mess. Whereas B1 Bikes in downtown makes due with half the amount of space by keeping things compact and tidy, the shelves here are in a state of utter disarray. I looked around for a good ten minutes in search of brake levers before I had to bother one of the three dudes on duty for guidance, which brings me to another reason this place is terrible: the service is an inattentive as can be. Two of the guys I saw that looked like they ran the place were working on bikes when I cam in, and the other was moving stuff around in the front of the store right in my midst, all while not even acknowledging that I was standing in front of him. Even a brief nod would've sufficed until I got far enough in the store for someone else to help me. Once one of the guys behind the counter in the service area finally pointed in the general direction of the brake levers, what I found there was incredibly sad. From what I could tell, they only had two different models in stock, each with only one available. That's right- two sets of brake levers for sale. Weak. It's a damn good thing that you'll have problems finding Baer Wheels without their front sign. It's best that you keep on driving. read more

I saw two bikes I was interested in and decided to talk to the person about looking at both bikes. The only difference (in my mind) was the price. One was $750 and one was on sale for $305. The more expensive bike was 19" and the one on sale was only 17" and they recommended the more expensive bike. This isn't my complaint. The guy helping me (a new guy) asked the owner about the difference in size and how that could affect my riding and the owner acted like an ass and condescendingly (starting to feel awkward) asked if he looked to see if they had the 19" in stock for the on sale model and then informed me that if they had it or if they had to order it, "I could have it at the same price" (still no complaints!) He check and they did not have it in stock, no biggie I said...let's go ahead and order it, I'll wait. The new worker had some trouble figuring out how to reduce the price in the system so that it reflected the discounted price on the bike, so the owner complained about his incompetence and stepped in to help (now I'm feeling bad for the worker as this is now the second time the owner treated the guy like an ass in front of 3 patrons). The owner quoted me a price of $315 and I simply stated that the tag said $305. He got all shitty with me and started talking about "keeping it profitable" and that he's not going to make a profit and said the price was wrong and insinuated that it was my fault, so I asked, "is that my fault?" and he, in an a snappy way said "no" and that "he was going to remove the price tag from the bike". He then came back and said the bike would take take a while to deliver because "in order to keep it profitable" he had to package the shipment with his next order. I mean come on...don't make an offer you don't plan on keeping it and don't be an ass to your employees. Simply said...I don't recommend Baer Wheels to your and will never go back. read more

I found Baer Wheels - an authorized Bianchi dealer - after receiving a bike fitting and that brand was recommended. Clearly, Dave is experienced and very knowledgeable about bikes. He was patient, accommodating and provided A+ customer service. He has a conscious and clearly cares about his customers. He is a small business owner -- competing with huge chain retailers and holding his own! Kudos to Dave! read more

Terrible service, if you are not a master mechanic they will be sure to look down on you and let you know. How this place is still open will be the only thing running through your mind if you make the mistake of going into this shop. There are plenty of good shops in the area that will treat you curtiously as a customer and not as a burden to their day. Bottom line don't waste your time, cycling should be fun and it starts at the shop level these guys will just ruin your day. read more
