Ordered 2 burgers, after 25 minutes was told there were not enough patties, so ordered a fishsandwich. BIG mistake! Burger was brought out raw, which is disgusting and not edible. Fish was so thin and burnt to a crisp. - not edible and still paid for the sandwich. Creme brulee was a solidified mess and topped with a large amount of sugar and not even fired on the top. To top it off there was a kid all over the kitchen, bar and not what you want to see from a health code standard. Do better, this is such a place that could Prosper if run appropriately. read more

This lovely winery in New Albany sits across the street from Recbar 812. We decided to venture here after hours of gaming across the street. Going inside, it looks more like a fancy restaurant than a winery, pretty upscale and of course we were dressed casual. We opted to sit at the bar and Tammy hosted our tasting. Tammy was very knowledgeable and very into it. She even told us the history of the place. She even told us some of her personal favorites. The sweeter wines are what we loved the most and I even purchased a seasonal wine that was reasonably priced. We also didn't opt to eat here but they do have some good food options. I found Baer on random occasions when I find myself in New Albany. Once it was during harvest homecoming, and we were trying to find a place to sit and just relax. That's how we came across the spot. The wind was good. The food was better. This time I was doing a cookie decorating class with a local baker. We finished our class and decided to hang around for some appetizers and some drinks. Again, the wine was very tasty. The appetizer that we got was a goat, cheese & garlic dip. It was incredible! It came out hot, sizzling and very flavorful with house made pita chips. I've been here before with friends to try the wine flights and had a great time, so when my cyclist friends suggested a bike and brews tour I suggested we stop in here for beer. Great selection of Indiana and other beers but the star of the show was our server Dishonne! We informed him we weren't eating and were just going to get some beers, he could tell we had parked our bikes outside and immediately brought us waters on this hot day without asking. Then when we asked to "try" a few beers before deciding, he insisted we stay seated to bring them out to us when we suggested we could come up the bar. Lastly, after we had settled up he brought us 4 to-go waters, again without asking! Whatever they are paying this young man is not enough, he was so courteous, friendly and caring. After waiting 20-30 minutes, after finishing, for our waitress to return with our check, or to check on us, I threw down $50 on the table to cover what I thought our bill was and left. We stopped in today during Harvest Homecoming. We had our pup with us so we were able to sit outside with her. The staff were so friendly and loving to our sweet girl. The owner came out and gave her lots of attention and they also gave her treats and her own water bowl! We love dog friendly places! Our food was delicious and the wine hit the spot. Nice and relaxing winery. We sat outside on the patio on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Went to karaoke at bear winery with my 13and 15 year old. The first time going the karaoke and my daughter went up to sing the dj turned up the background up so much it altered my child's voice to where she couldn't really be heard. Tonight we returned and we asked the dj to NOT have background vocals on. As my daughter went on stage the karaoke equipment broke down and dj took 20 mins to reboot computer and equipment was still down. He then used YouTube as a workaround, and due to his incompetence, told my daughter there wasn't a karaoke version of her song. (There is, and many options actually). Therefore instead of singing the song my daughter requested she had to do a sing a long with the actual artist in background. Myself and others couldn't even hear my daughter's voice. Not wanting to cause a scene, but needing to address the situation. I simply gave the karaoke DJ a small note explaining my dissatisfaction.. His wife, Holly who does not own, the business, had approached me and started harassing me then insulted and belittled my daughters who are children and threatened us to leave the winery. This Karaoke is by far the most unprofessional and discriminating place I've ever been to in my life. It's a shame, though the business isn't that bad but they just look really horrible people to provide entertainment. Formerly known as River City Winery it is basically the same winery with a new name. Great service and very good fettuccine Alfredo with a shared salad made for a good outing. And now it's our venue for our youngest daughter's wedding rehearsal dinner. And don't forget to check out their sangria of the day for $5 a glass and $15 a pitcher. I'm soooooooo excited that the winery has reopened. We came in today thinking the restaurant was not open as of yet so we went to eat elsewhere first. We walked in and there is food, food every where. All kinds of food choices. The only sad part for me was I am a dry white wine drinker or a rose' lover and there just wasn't many choices for my palette yet. However I have been swayed towards a red that is on the semi side but it's actually not bad at all, I rather enjoyed it. I believe I could actually go back again and again for that particular wine. Who hasn't been to Baer's City Winery? Well, you're missing out! Such a gorgeous winery. We stopped on the way home to pick up dinner so I'm ashamed to say we didn't have an opportunity to sample the wine. But we will absolutely return soon to complete the mission. Barbara Haas did an amazing job putting her personal touch on the open and airy inviting space. There is also a tastefully appointed private room for a nominal fee that easily seats 20 people. You can tell this is her passion. The food? Excellent. Executive Chef Brandon Noe and his Sous Chef Luke Shanahan are rocking the kitchen at Baer's. We ordered several items to carry out for dinner. So glad we did. Everything you hear about the crab cakes is true. Perfectly fried to a crispy golden brown and yet so tender and flavorful inside. The spicy remoulade that accompanies it is on point! Other appetizers we sampled were the burrata & speck and fried wontons. The smoky speck was a perfect accompaniment to the creamy burrata. Served with fresh local tomatoes. Delicious. The wontons were filled with fresh mozzarella and spinach almond pesto. So unique. We devoured all of it. We had to try the pizza too. Being an Italian New Yorker, pizza is serious business. Baer's passed the test. We had the BCW and the Classic. Both were excellent. Hubby gravitated to the BCW. A great assortment of toppings. Wonderfully crispy and chewy crust. We had 6:00pm reservations on a Friday night. Inside was a little busy but nothing crazy. There was some outdoor music next door and they had tables out there, but it looked like they were ordering drinks and not a lot of food. It took forever to get our drinks and appetizer. The waitress never came back to refill our water and didnt really give us an expected time on food. It was hot (old building and maybe the air conditioning wasnt working) and we were getting hangry!! It was almost 9:00pm and we called it a night. We left plenty of cash on the table to cover anything we had during our visit. We also gave the waitress and owner (who was standing nearby) a heads up that we were leaving. As some of us walked out the door, 2 of the 4 plates of food made it to our table. We decided not to stay any longer as it was hot and who knows when the rest of our orders would be done. We went across the street to RecBar where they were quick and the food was good. Good luck to Baers City in the future. I dont know if they were just having a very bad night but they need to fix it ASAP or not many people will give them the time of day. read more

They have hired a chef and starting in July will expand the menu. While I enjoy wine, I am not a sommelier (I do know my way around the French regions), I recognized that that these were quality wines. My wife had the Seyval Blanc $8, and I partook if the 18th Street Sex and Candy IPA (now there's a name for you) $6, and we shared the Red wine cheese dip and pretzel bites $10. Very good! I've been patiently waiting for this place to open. In the old River City Winery location. My husband and I stopped in today. They weren't too busy probably because most people don't know they're now open. Or maybe because they are only serving a limited menu at this time. However we were not disappointed. We tried a few samples of their wines. Surprisingly we liked everyone we tried. Which is amazing because we are both a bit picky when it comes to wine. I prefer sweet and he prefers dry. I had a glass of vignoles and catwooble both are sweet wines. Both are light and crisp perfect for summer or any time!! We also had a salad and a hummus appetizer. The hummus was wonderful. We had the best Saturday afternoon at Baers. We met the owner Barbara, who is so friendly, down-to-earth, and hospitable. Our server/bartender was Brandon and he was excellent - helpful and friendly. We started with a tasting at the bar. We had so many favorites: Forty-eighter, Seyval Blanc, Ursus, Zincheata, Baloo, Vignoles, Poor Richards, and Riesling. (I know that's a lot of favorites, but they were that good!) Baers City makes their own wine in the downstairs space of the building using grapes sourced from elsewhere. Their winemaker(s) gets a gold star from us! We quickly realized that we needed some food to get us through the tasting. We started with the blackberry and goat cheese toast. YUM. Those alone deserve a 5 star review. Then the crabcakes - the sriracha lime aioli is something I wish I could buy. The charcuterie board was full of tasty morsels (so full that a bit more bread and crackers are needed!). We loved the variety of cheeses they chose - goat, Brie, and manchego - and the apple butter made the board. After we finished our tasting, we moved to the incredibly comfy leather oversized chairs to enjoy some wine and food. We talked about how we could easily while away all of our weekend afternoons here and be happy. The space is beautiful without being overdone - the ceilings are high, the windows provide tons of natural light, and the decor and furnishings are tasteful and comfortable. It was a bit of a struggle tonight. We got a bottle of wine and an appetizer. Goat cheese and blackberry toast was good but overpriced for 4 small crostini. We got mains instead of the pizza that dominates the menu. Pork chop was fine. Salmon came out over cooked, sent back and redo was undercooked (barely warm in the center). We eventually opted for a salad instead as the food was slow to come out. They gave us a free dessert - molten lava cake. The cake was ok, moist but definitely not a lava cake and the ice cream tasted like a cheap tub from Sams club. May have just been a bad night but we will stick to the pizzas in the future. read more

We were the only people dining in the restaurant and the food was just ok. I had the spaghetti and meatballs...it was served at room temperature. The cheeseburger was small for the price, the cheese was not melted, and the presentation was unsatisfying. This was the worst dining experience ever. 3 of us in the party waited 20 min before waitress approached us after we were seated. Our waitress was training a new waitress, it was her very first day. After ordering a 3 wine flight it took 20 min to get the flight. We ordered our dinners, 2 pizzas and a crab cake dinner, the waitress in training brought it to us. It was on a very small serving tray, the crab cakes fell off the tray followed by one of the pizzas which landed on the lady in the table next to us. Accidents happen that wasn't the worst. One pizza was saved but the orders for 2 at our table was lost and had to be remade. The pizza that did survive was placed at the table without a serving tool or plates to serve and eat the pizza with. By the time the other two meal were served and plates for the pizza was given the surviving pizza was cold. The seasoned waitress asked if we needed more drinks, she was supposed to bring another glass of wine and an iced tea. Never showed up nor did she ever come back to check on use. We flagged down another waitress who was kind enough to bring us 2 to go boxes and had to ask the other waitress for our check. The seasoned waitress came to us and apologized for the mistakes and for the dropping of our food. I didn't find the new waitress to be at fault at all, she was training, it was her first day and the trainer should have been with her for every contact with customers. We ended up with the seasoned waitress coming to us telling us she'd give us 10% off our bill for the inconvenience and she hopes we will give them another chance. First the 10% was insulting, service sucked, food was cold and mediocre. Even the new food made after the spill was not hot. Our meal ended with empty drinks and all being thirsty. Even our waters were empty. We will never return or recommend this restaurant to anyone. I have never been to a restaurant that wasn't more responsive to the lady who had a pizza land on her white shirt and the guests whose food was lost. Manager never even came to check on the issue. I give the restaurant one star and that so generous. read more
