Absolutely blown away by 211 Clover Lane. It's a hidden gem for sure; you could be in the parking lot and not see it. It's in an old house, but it has a classy, elevated feel. The outdoor patio is breathtaking! So much greenery--it does not feel like you're in Kentucky. They've been around for 40+ years!! Our waitress was fantastic. Super helpful with the menu, prompt, and friendly. She recommended perfect wines based on our preferences and meal. Now for the food. Everything was perfectly executed. Nothing lacked flavor and presentation was beautiful. Their house chips with caviar are actually amazing! I could eat a whole plate of these. Loved the beets and fried green tomatoes too! The scallop entree was the best scallop dish I've ever had! The couscous side was perfect with it. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and the chicken was well seasoned. Desserts were great too! They make many of them in house. I'm a sucker for key lime pie and theirs was a 10/10. The chocolate cake, praline cake, and pot de creme were wonderful. If I had to pick a favorite from each category it would be caviar chips, scallops, and key lime pie! You have to check this place out! I only wish I knew about it sooner. read more

Went on a Sunday night and had a reservation and was seated prompted. Plenty of parking available in their parking lot. They have a limited menu with appetizers and entrees. Didn't see any side or a la crate items or a kids menu (to order for our toddler we took with us). Apps range from $18-$30. Entrees range from $40-80+. Drinks range from $14-$20. Enjoyed our app of the crab salad and then entree of the veal scallopini pasta (lots of flavor). Attentive staff throughout the nap. A group of eight of us met at 211 Clover Lane for my sister's birthday. If you didn't know where it was you might miss it, so set your gps. It's well worth finding. The food was delicious, service was wonderful, and our private room beside the bar was perfect on this cold rainy night. I had quail with pancetta potatoes and asparagus. Yummy! Around the table were steaks, veal, fettuccine, quail, pork chop and chicken - all were pronounced 'fantastic'. Attentive service kept drink orders filled, and shared desserts topped off the night. I've eaten here several times and it's always top notch. Definitely a fine dining experience in a an attractive setting, but also friendly. Last week I had the halibut special. My theory is that when a special is offered, it's what the chef wants to cook. It was excellent. I'm always concerned that fish will be overcooked but this was moist and perfect. Our third time here! I know, why'd I take so long? Every time we come here we're treated warmly and seated immediately. Very friendly staff all around. Depending on where you're seated, it seams like a French farmhouse chic when you're overlooking the gardens. Can't wait till the garden is open to eat in! They always give you a mini scone complimentary to start and we got champagne with it, usually do, because ... champagne! I got the shrimp and grits (brunch menu) and they were so perfect!!!! This place is really cute and enjoyable to dress up for a meal if that is what you are looking for. But this food was mediocre, plain and so small. I will pay whatever it cost but a full lunch was nothing but Bibb lettuce with vinaigrette and a small piece of cheese on plate. This was the whole meal, not one other veggie on the plate. I have not reason to go back here. The menu was small, the food let a lot to be desired. I also had the French onion soup which was just okay, not a traditional preparation and the smallest portion of soup I have ever been served. I dont understand how so many restaurents in Louisville, Ky get good reviews when I have been to them and they are just not good. Chef Troy Schuster and owner Andrew Smith have an intimate upscale hidden gem with a French countryside atmosphere serving seasonal items in a quasi-residential area. We had a large party and was able to secure the large beautiful private dining room off the bar. The food here is absolutely delicious. I started with the burrata cheese over beefsteak tomato with basil and olive oil. The appetizer was essentially a caprese salad with burrata cheese. I love both so I enjoyed this combination. The restaurant is known for their seared Idaho trout which was 2 filets of trout that were prepared perfectly and quite flavorful with the beurre blanc sauce. For dessert, I ordered the chocolate pot de creme which was a nice finish to a perfect dinner. Service was excellent. Our server, Nick, was friendly and very helpful with menu recommendations for us out-of-towners. The staff did a wonderful job accommodating our demanding group. We wanted a really nice, really reputable, really intimate place for our first wedding anniversary dinner. This place checked all the boxes, and we had a great evening. We started out with a couple of cocktails and some beef carpaccio, all were excellent. For our entrees, we couldn't quite decide so we opted to split the New York strip and the pan seared Canadian halibut. Splitting was a great choice, both entrees were delicious and balanced in flavor. For dessert we got some creme brûlée that I am still dreaming about to this day. The best parts of the meal though were the atmosphere and the staff. We were able to get a table in a very secluded corner of the restaurant. The locale is very prim and proper and not loud at all. We got along great with the staff, they took great care of us and made sure we had a very special anniversary. Overall fantastic experience, I've highly recommended it several times, and I can't wait to come back! read more

I've eaten at 211 Clover Lane twice, and as I firmly believe in second chances, waited until after the second dining experience to write a review. My first impression is still valid. 211 Clover Lane is... fine. The front of house staff are pleasant enough. The servers are adequate. The food is okay. Neither experience wowed me. And this would be more acceptable, except the ambience and prices suggest one should embark on a dining experience at 211 Clover Lane with higher expectations. The fried green tomatoes lacked flavor ($13). The 211 house salad was at its core a handful of greens with an uninspired vinaigrette ($12). There was no vegan option for the main course, however after much hemming and hawing the server agreed to ask chef if they could create one, which they did - pasta topped with tomatoes and basil ($28). The pasta taste and texture suggested box over house-made, and although the kitchen was liberal with black pepper, there were no other flavors that stood out. In regards to service, our water glasses were often empty, and it took quite a while to receive the check, despite the restaurant being less than half occupied. I wish I had better things to say, but sometimes even second chances don't work out the way we hope. read more

Holy cow! Just had one of the WORST dining experiences of my life. EHAT HAPPENED TO YOU 211 Clover Lane???!!!! I absolutely can't believe that one of my favorite places and a 5-star pick has fallen so far! TERRIBLE! My sister, brother, and I took my mom here for brunch today. We had our reservation and they were ready to seat us which was great. Then, for some reason, we became transparent. We were not yet invisible since there were two other tables in the room in which we were dining. We ordered 2 coffees at 2:05pm and they were delivered LUKEWARM around 2:20pm with no creamer. One additional order of coffee was placed since the waiter stated that he would brew a new pot and we asked for creamer. Another 20 minutes later we got the new coffee and an additional cup. No creamer. Then they said they didn't have any half-and-half. Okay, we will take heavy cream which they said they had. Five minutes later that came. We had ordered our meals by this time and told the item my mom wanted was not available today. Well goodness, we really should have gone somewhere else! It took 1.5 hours to receive our food. The other two tables in the room had left. We had to request water refills, coffee refills. The food came and it was LUKEWARM!!! And the 211 salad I ordered was supposed to come with goat cheese but was delivered with a CRAB ROLL!! No check up on us for a while and when the waiter came, we let him know that it wasn't goat cheese. Thankfully, no one is allergic to shellfish or that could have been DEVISTATING. The waiter NEVER offered to take the salad off the ticket - when it was obvious that I wasn't eating it. I actually had to ask them to take it off. I was not offered another option for food either. So my guess is that these servers are new to serving and kind enough to be there on a Saturday afternoon. (Do servers not receive training anymore??) The men serving us were kind but a bit clueless and I STILL TIPPED WELL, because we all know it is not their fault and if you don't get proper training then how can you know how to advocate for your customers??!! At time to pay, I wanted to use my phone to tap pay. Which I could have sworn I've done here before. Nope, none of the handheld were charged. Okay, so at least he let me type in my number to the system behind the bar. I paid our bill and needed a pen to add the tip so i had to wait for them to find me one. It was the inner ink portion of a pen. I joke you not! Lol! At this point, I can't even believe I am actually in 211 Clover Lane. It must be an alternate universe, right??!! What the actual heck is going on? I mean I seriously thought we were being PUNKED!! The only reason I know we weren't being punked is because I got to pay $28 to split the meal with my brother and sister of which I got to sit and watch them eat. UNBELIEVEABLE! read more

Attentive and friendly staff. Lovely decor. Early dining at 5pm was great. The dining room began to get busy around 6pm. Great menu selection from meat to seafood. Been craving Halibut (newbie Cali transplant) and found the dish here to exceed my expectations. Absolutely delightful dining experience. Making plans to return soon. read more

It's definitely a pleasant surprise to find this restaurant! It's hidden away in St Matthew - a hidden gem. It is around by industrial stuff and stores, but once you are in, the restaurant is beautiful and the back patio looks very beautiful, but it was too hot for us to sit outside. Everything tastes delicious from the first thing till the last thing we drink and eat. The oysters were sweet and fresh. For cocktails, we got tales of clover, which was a bourbon cocktail, and a coffee martini. They were both delicious! For entrée, we got ratatouille and seared scallops! the scallops melted in your mouth, with just the right amount the seasoning. I think it could use a little more sauce, with the couscous, but I think the intention was going, I just prefer a little more saucy myself, I would get it again. To wrap it all up, we got the chocolate raspberry ganache, it was actually recommended by our server, he said that the first bite will be different than the last bite and that it is one of the more sophisticated dessert they have, and he was right! You taste more raspberry in the beginning and then a lot more chocolate at the end. The chocolate taste kind of like truffle like or brownie, like, so rich and flavorful! This little hidden gem was a wonderful find. Farm to table fresh ingredients and several seafood selections on the lunch menu. We sat outside on the charming patio shaded by umbrella on a beautiful warm sunny day, surrounded by lovely patio garden. The King salmon was perfectly seared on the outside but soft and moist inside. Served with a fresh salad lightly dressed in vinaigrette. Pan-seared trout was also delicious served with the tastiest sautéed spinach and roasted baby potatoes. Service was quite good even though they were short staffed that day. We got the crab cake and olives/almonds and both were delicious. Wednesday's are half price wine night! For dinner we have the filet and medallions. Both were very good and seasoned great. But I did order it medium rare and it was only slightly pink, medium. I can only imagine how much better it would have been if it was cooked correctly. Sunday brunch is a set menu with several different choices. We came later in the day and the trout was out, several items were low but our server was very informative and accommodating. I got the shrimp and grits and my husband got the omelet. Both were delicious! The grits were great the the shrimp were perfectly blackened. There was a great tomato gravy on the grit that made this one of the best shrimp and grits I've had! We will be back not only for the food but the atmosphere. My scallops were far grittier than what you typically expect from mollusks, telling me they didn't properly clean them, or their supplier did not properly clean them. My bread pudding had large chunks of scrambled egg throughout it, meaning they didn't properly mix the custard mixture before tossing in the bread and cooking. The carpaccio was genuinely the best I've ever had as an app. The Oysters tasted like I was near the Chesapeake. For dinner, everything was delicious. Although, I would recommend the filet every time! The service was top notch. They truly go out of their way to make you feel welcome. My only downside was that this was a birthday. I can't believe it took me this long to have dinner here. My friend and fellow Yelp Elite, Sierra loves this place so we went for birthday dinner last week. Since we didn't have reservations, we sat in the bar area. They have some cool lounge chairs and tables which are perfect for drinks. We all had wine and relaxed in the comfy seats while we browsed the menu. The menu is small. My complaint is there are really no appetizers. I wish they had a couple more options for some small plates. We tried to order the bruschetta but the bartender forgot to put it in and we had bread and olive oil already, so we just went straight for entrees. The entrees are all pricey but I expected that since it is a fine dining spot. I went with the half chicken and risotto. it was prepared perfectly and seasoned well. We all shared dessert after and they were excellent. The bartender was generous with the wine pours and gave one of my friends free birthday dessert. Bonus points for those things! I came with a group of 6 and we were seated in the private dining area, which was beautiful. The service was amazing. Our server was very knowledgeable and was able to recommend "off the menu wines" and give great dinner recommendations. I had the filet mignon and it was literally cooked to perfection. When we didn't order wine our wine glasses should have been removed. The food was good but not great. I had the cream brûlée for dessert. It was cold.
