It was my husband and I's first time being here, and our first date in a little while. My mom had actually gifted me a gift card & spontaneously we said let's go! We walk in, and are immediately hit with good smells. We both said "mmm". Then we were sat in the bar, and we were greeted by the heart of the evening, our server bartender, Jaedyn. She immediately had the sweetest aura & was so pleasant. We found out that she was new to the restaurant & we were so excited for her! We both started with 2 drinks. I got the Marilyn, and my husband got the Passion Fruit Martini. They were absolutely delicious. His was exactly how he likes it, it's sweet, light, and not super strong on the alcohol taste lol. Mine was made with Japanese gin, which was a first for me, and blackberry. It was a really kicker start to the experience. S/o to Jaedyn. Then we started with our own personal "appetizer", and decided to get a ceasar salad (I was ecstatic about the anchovies) and he got the tomato basil soup. When we got them, it was a "wow" moment. We started digging in and my husband said "I could have about 100 of these toast things", and by then, it was too late to even get a picture lol, so sorry that isn't pictured I took a few bites of his and he took a few bites of mine and we were happy campers to say the least. Thank you Chef. Jaedyn suggested a couple more drinks, and my husband and I trusted. I got the Basil Gimlet, and he got the Lemon Drop Martini. I'm not kidding you all, the basil gimlet is probably the best drink I've ever had in my life. I'll think about this every day. For dinner, we both felt like fries as a side was what we both were craving, and he decided on the Bistro Burger, and I decided on the Fish and Chips. The proof is in the pictures, it was stunnin'. Every bite...every single bite, down to the tomato consumé, was delicious. Thank you Chef. Grace was the FOH manager, and stopped by our table & was SO gracious and friendly that it was just bursting with contagious joy. We told her we wanted to come back and see Jaedyn again, that this was the new date night spot, and that I'll be celebrating my birthday here. she even came back with our dessert, the Blueberry Pie Bar. Warm, and topped with a quality ice cream. Let's just say, the entire experience was superb. From the gentle spirits that surrounded us, to the emotion the food carried, this was the best experience we have literally ever had anywhere. I visited this wonderful establishment on a Monday, which they had a $5 martini special, and not only were they so yummy, but they did not skimp out on the alcohol, which some restaurants do when they have a drink special, but Board and You stayed true to their drinks and customers. The food! I ordered the Bone-In Pork Chop and when I say that was one of the best pork chops, I've ever had, especially with the collard greens that come with it and the tobacco onions. So YUM! My mom ordered the crispy cauliflower, which I gave a little try, and that was delicious as well. I'm not to keen on cauliflower, but it was so well seasoned and had a wonderful sauce to accompany it. I will say I was excited for the crispy cauliflower but it had a spice in the batter that was either cumin or cardamom which is totally personal preference but not for me. Pan seared scallops were super good. Excited to try more items on the menu next time. Also very cool mock-tail called Sober Sister. One more random but important aspect for me is table/ seating set up and they killed it. Not sitting in another table's conversation and angled so you feel like you are your own table is important. My one friend and I started out with the salmon pasta shells. These were good but didn't change my life. Also we got six in our order and the menu said four. I don't remember specifically asking for six, but I will happily take this bank error in my favor. Some of the other appetizers people got looked a bit more punchy and good for a better price. For my entree I got the Pork Katsu Curry. This was also good, but not life changing. My favorite thing I tried were a few bites of a friend's Boujee Grilled Cheese. Excellent! The reception and service was great. Friendly, but not in a fake way. They were authentic. The food was incredible. We started with a charcuterie and fromage plate. It was big enough for 4-6 people. The goat cheeses and candied pecans were the highlight. I got the 14oz pork chop with braised greens, tobacco onions, peach jalapeño chutney, and jalapeño cornbread. It was the biggest, most tender pork chop I have ever had. My wife got the creamy pesto pasta with beef tenderloin. The creamy pesto sauce was fantastic (not too garlicky, not too much basil) and the tenderloin was seasoned to perfection. We also had an old fashioned and a glass of red wine. Both were very good. I got a mezcal cocktail drink (cannot remember the name) and it was amazing. A nice pour might I add. The decor is always adorable and it's a nice ambiance. Glad we made reservations and so appreciate that what we originally requested for seating was honored. We were fortunate to have one of the owners as our server who was an absolute delight and obliging to our requests and needs. The holiday decor feels magical which aided towards our enjoyable experience. There was a great disappointment that the Pork Katsu Curry was sold out by the time we arrived. Yet that aids to it's either a sought after item or they didn't make enough. The next visit intends to confirm if it's the sought after. The drinks we enjoyed (Gin Margarita, the Empress and the Mango Margarita) were all well balanced. Portion size are good but not necessarily equivalent to other restaurants who may charge the same amount for more. The burger was perfect and obvious that this was a hand made item, which makes it worth the price. Fries were a tad bit salty. But that could be more of me than what someone else may not experience in the same way. We greatly appreciate that a military discount was honored. For drinks, food and dessert our final check was fair. The one item to note is the cobbler may not be to what most people enjoy and expect of a cobbler. Flavor was good but texture and lack of cobbler topping left us wishing for more substance. My overall rating is about a 3.75. A return to experience the curry will be the determination if they have earned the 4.0 As usual those who follow my reviews know that it's difficult for my visits to receive a 5.0 We'll see if any repeat visits get them there. For now, this is a great place to enjoy a quiet evening with friends or celebrate a special occasion. There was a bday group during our visit and the bar was well filled. I had made the assumption that they only offered charcuterie boards, but I was mistaken and on the occasion of a friend's birthday, got to experience a much broader offering than just sliced meats and cheeses with a few crackers. Obviously, they offer charcuterie, but there's a full menu of really good food! There's quite a bit of variety and I've yet to have anything that wasn't at least above average. The restaurant is broken up into a couple of main rooms. Both look contemporary and mature with well-chosen colors and textures. The first room houses a large, full bar while the second is set up like a standard restaurant. For larger parties, sheer curtains separate. Service has been helpful and attentive. I'd cut Board and You short but now it has worked its way into our regular New Albany rotation! read more

Brought the left over home, and it still crisped nicely in the air fryer. The hubs got the short rib, and while a great portion, and tender, lacked a bit of flavor in comparison to how I normally prepare them. The risotto was cooked to perfection, and tasted almost like a parm and red pepper risotto. He loved it!!! I'd like more flavor to match the succulence of it. I had the scallops appetizer and was sooooooo pleased. Each scallop placed on the same risotto, with little swipes of lime crema? Each morsel was divine. Perhaps my friends (there were 7 of us) and I hit them on an off night, but we were entirely unimpressed. We got a variety of appetizers and meals and not a single person said "wow - this is great!" Most were lukewarm reactions - where I expect exceptional for their prices. I got the fried cauliflower and burger. The former was heavily breaded and not well flavored, and the latter was far too well done and had an odd, almost burnt or bitter taste. I'm the queen of leftovers but I couldn't bring myself to eat them the next day. Also, the service was ridiculously slow. We were there for almost 3 hours! While we admittedly were slow in ordering at the beginning, the time to bring drinks (one of my friends never did get the second beer she ordered) and get checks was terrible. I have been wanting to go here for quite sometime and was really excited we went for my girlfriends birthday. As you may know the Mask Mandate has been lifted in Indiana and businesses have the opportunity to make the choice that best suites their staff and clientele. Board and You is completely mask free so please be warned if you are not yet comfortable with this. I will say, we had a large group (I think we had 17) we were off over in our own little corner, the other tables were spaced out appropriately and the staff kept a safe distance. When we sat they had always started with the Charcuterie & Fromage (their charcuterie board) as well as the Buffalo Chicken Fritters which was basically like Buffalo Chicken Dip Deep Fried and the Crispy Califlower which were all delicious. If you love a good Cocktail, the Cocktail List did not disappoint. I stated with the Red Sangria which was amazing, but on the dryer side in case that's not your thing. Next I tried the Queen Bee which consisted of Tito's vodka, honey lavender elixir, fresh lemon juice, club soda and topped with an edible flower. This drink was absolutely amazing! Other people at the table got the Basil Gimlet (Gin) and the B&Y Old Fashioned For our entree we shared the Filet (6oz) that came with smoked gruyere mashed potatoes, sautéed asparagus, port demi-glace, topped with choice of brie, bleu cheese or parmigiano-reggiano (we got the Brie!) This place has been so busy, it took us a while to try it (after getting full vaccine-antibodies online). Take note, you will definitely need reservations for the weekends! TL;DR: Basically, a really great menu of dishes and drinks such that I could point at the menu blindfolded and enjoy any thing that I pointed to. Well executed with a serene, modern atmosphere. We will return! DRINKS: guys, this cocktail menu is AH-mazing! If you are looking at the online menu, it's changed within the past week or so. I wanted everything.m but settled on the Blood Orange Whiskey Sour and the Razzle Me Dazzle Me (with vodka rather than gin). They were both slanted to the sour rather than sweet and were well balanced. Beers are all bottled, the wine selection is reasonably priced and well-thought out. SMALL PLATES: obviously the charcuterie/fromage board is a best-seller. The cauliflower and bougee grilled cheese were also recommended by our waitress. We opted for the grilled cheese (with fig jam, arugula, cheddar/fontina on sourdough) and it was large enough to be a meal for 1! We decided to snag the corn soup alongside the sandwich and it was savory and filling! ENTREES: I enjoyed the chicken Marsala - a fairly large portion with a mouthwatering Marsala sauce + Shitake mushrooms, nicely crisp roasted fingerling potatoes and very crisp Brussels sprouts. Hubby got the filet and enjoyed it - his medium rare steak was closer to medium but delicious. DESSERT: we usually don't order, but were intrigued by the chocolate cake. It was super moist, without much frosting and accompanied by a coffee creameaux and blackberry cream - there was a raspberry sorbet and tuille cookie on the menu (but not on the plate). It was very enjoyable. THE SPACE: it's lovely, peaceful, modern, exactly where many groups of friends were catching up with each other. Intentional creation of private spaces were obvious. Feels like a fun experience but also not too formal/fussy with mismatched chairs that are perfect. SERVICE: servers wore face shields, no masks. This actually made it harder to hear them as the sound seemed to be blocked. Our meal had a leisurely pace and that was fine for an evening devoted to a relaxing night. First off, the decor in this place is amazing. My girlfriend and I have celebrated a birthday and now an anniversary here and we leave every time full and happy. Our server, Taylor, was amazing. We never felt rushed, everything came out in a timely manner and he was very nice to talk to and helpful with menu suggestions. The owners of the building are always saying hi to guests, running food/drinks to tables, and always making sure everything is perfect and we always appreciate that about them both. I enjoyed the charcuterie board and the overall vibe of this place. My filet mignon was fantastic and I wasn't able to even finish everything because of how stuffed I was.
