    Onion bagel with cream cheese

I've been coming to bagel barrel for 20 years and they have remained my favorite bagel shop in Doylestown. I now live in North Carolina but every time my parents visit, I make them bring me bagels.

Want a NY bagel in Doylestown? Then this is the place to go. The staff was incredibly friendly when our large group of classmates (~12) all arrived at the same time for bagels before an event. The friendly staff and owner accommodated us and the food was made fresh very quickly. You order at the counter and then pay when the staff calls your name. For a normal day, there are plenty of tables to sit at. You can also get a bag of bagels to go if you prefer or order a tray of sliced bagels with cream cheese for a group breakfast. I will definitely be back to try a sweet bagel next time instead of the amazing lox salt bagel I got last time.

    Sausage patty From breakfast sandwich

I've been going to this place for ages, and every time I go it's been getting worse and worse. They know who I am there and I don't care I get the same Sammy every time sausage no egg and cheese on an everything and the sausage patty gets over cooked every time, it's all dried up. It's been like this for plenty of times now but this time I'm taking action with an honest review. I'm not a guy to do this but bagel barrel have been getting shittier and shittier every time I go back. But this time I'm never. Borough bagel is the new crown king.

Astoundingly good bagel breakfast sandwiches! Bagels are made on site, and employees are very friendly. If the occasional mistake is made (they once missed a sandwich I ordered while I waited), they go out of their way to remedy the situation and turn a potential negative into a positive. Weekend mornings the line is out the door, so come early. Even on weekday mornings the flow of customers is steady. Much better than some of the bagel chains in the area. I love their sandwiches and visit this business frequently. Also, their outdoor seating is pet friendly - another plus.

First time at this little local bagel shop! Staff treats you like family. So nice and cheap prices for great quality! Will definitely come back to this place!!

I got a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel... with a smile.

Wandered by starving and realized I forgot my wallet. I asked them if they took ApplePay, and to my delight, they do! So I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel, and had a little chit chat with the employees about saving me from having to eat at Starbucks. Everyone was pleasant, and the place was filled with locals lingering over their bagels and coffee. The food was tasty (though I do wish the bacon was crispy), and the service was very friendly. I honestly had avoided coming in here because of the negative reviews, but I'm glad I decided to stop! I'll definitely be back.

Everything bagel toasted with cream cheese

We stopped at Bagel Barrel on a Sunday and there was a line out the door, which was to be expected on a weekend morning. It moved a bit slowly, but they were working as fast as they could to fill orders inside. The staff was friendly and the ordering process was easy. We ordered up front then we sat to wait for our order and paid once it was ready. The egg and cheese bagel sandwich was great and the everything bagel came with a ton of cream cheese and was toasted perfectly. I wouldn't say the bagels are the best in Bucks County, but they're still very good! It's a solid stop for both convenience and to get your fix. They also have fun different kinds of cream cheeses - savory and sweet - that are intriguing and I'd like to eventually try.

Bagel Barrel on West State Street, Doylestown, PA, has been around for a while, and aside from the Manhattan Bagel shop a few blocks away, is the only game in town for boil and bake rounders. The joint is cozy with small dining area, self serve coffee and very reasonable prices. It's a nice place to hang out with friends and family (if you can find a table). Downside is that their bagel style is not my fave. They are on the small side and more densely textured than I prefer. To my buds, they taste like sour dough loaf with thin shell and lots of sprinkles (onion being my primary choice). The quality is there, but I jump for a lighter, air-pocketed inside, crisper shell and less sour flavor. It comes down to the base flour used and the amount of kneading before forming the ring of dough that becomes the bagel. Like pie crust, less is more when it comes to great texture. Everyone behind the counter was pleasant and having a good time when I was there. That's always a good sign for a positive atmosphere. If they made the kind of bagels I loved, I would stop in regularly. As it is, Bagel Train in Yardley will continue to be my station for awesome bagels in Bucks County.

Good bagels and cream cheese. Staff was friendly. Only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars was because I wish they had more tables.

I happened to stumble upon Bagel Barn while heading to a doctor's appointment, and I'm glad I did--I found the needle. This place is 100% legit. These bagels have exactly what I look for: that deep, dark-baked color and a distinct crust on the outside, opening up to that perfect, characteristic chew that only a real NY-style bagel possesses. The Standouts: The Everything Bagel: A classic that does not disappoint. The Everything Asiago: Stop the presses! This is a hidden gem and a total must-try. The Cold Brew: I won't even ask how they make it; something that good just deserves to be paired with an amazing bagel. The "Purist" Test: On my first visit, they asked if I wanted my bagel toasted. As a purist, if the bagels are being made fresh, I don't want them toasted unless I'm eating them days later at home. The fact that this bagel held up perfectly without being toasted proved to me that this is, hands down, the best place to buy bagels in the area. The Service: The cherry on top is the ownership and the staff. I've been in three times now, and the team is consistently warm, friendly, and welcoming. Thank you, Bagel Barn, for bringing a real piece of home to PA!

Let me start by saying that even before they sold the quality went down - cheap ingredients for sandwiches. But now that they've sold not even the bagels are good. Grant it I did pick up a "too good to go order" but compared to other bagel locations the cost was high and the freshness was so bad and the variety. I know I can't fully judge the quality because I didn't order fresh but their prices are ridiculous and the service was bad. So unfriendly and didn't ask if I wanted anything else just minimal contact and then I had to wait to buy other stuff because the person at the counter walked away. I won't be back. It's sad because out of all the bagel places in the area - doylestown to horsham to chalfont they used to have the best bagels and I can't find a place that is even remotely close to the quality they used to produce.

Went to pick it up, and though no one else is there, the gentleman took a while to come out. When I asked if the bagels were sliced he said no, that was $3 extra. I didn't have my phone on me to show him the website where it clearly says sliced for the trays. Then I asked about the cream cheese, as there was none in the bag. He said no cc, then checked the receipt, which said 1 plain cc, though the website says 1 plain 1 flavor with the small tray. I began to walk out to get my phone to show him and he aquiesed and gave me the cc. Then, when he pulled out my tea, he noted the reciept saying no ice. He shows me a cup 3/4 full of ice and asks if this is ok. I said no, I save the tea for my afternoon treat at work, and by then it'd be all water. He sighed and filled a new cup. Honestly, I was unaware of the ownership change, but I am sorely disappointed. Will not be coming back. Oh, and he still charged me $3 for slicing.

One of the coolest things is that they make all their bagels on site -- you can literally see the trays of fresh dough and the team working in the back. It gives such a homey, authentic vibe that you don't get at most bagel places anymore. We both ordered breakfast sandwiches, and they were incredible. I had the jalapeño cheddar bagel with egg, spinach, Swiss, mushrooms, and scallion cream cheese. It was creamy, flavorful, and the bagel itself was perfectly chewy with that little jalapeño kick. My husband got an everything bagel with the same egg/veggie combo and vegetable cream cheese, and he loved every bite. We also ordered their pumpkin cinnamon latte, and WOW -- you can actually taste real pumpkin in it, not that artificial syrup flavor. It was cozy, perfectly spiced, and honestly one of the best pumpkin drinks we've ever had. The service was friendly, the place has that small-town charm, and the food tastes like people who care made it. If you're anywhere near North Wales, this is absolutely worth stopping in for fresh, made-on-site bagels and great coffee. Highly recommend!

We went there this morning to pick up a raisin challah - we were making French Toast! The challah is excellent - rich, soft and sweet, it has a tender, delicious taste. The raisins added an extra touch of sweetness to the French Toast. Then there are the numerous pastries and cookies. We decided to get a few Hamentashen (chocolate and poppy), a raspberry croissant, a chocolate and a raspberry rugelach, and the most amazing looking Sticky Bun. I'll start with the Sticky Bun. It was exceptional; a soft, fluffy, and slightly chewy dough - challah like, but denser. It was laced with a sticky, caramelized glaze, studded with raisins and walnuts. It was 'melt in your mouth delicious', and a must try. Next up - the raspberry croissant. This is not your typical croissant - I'm used to the plain, or chocolate - I can't recall having a raspberry croissant before. It's one of the best I've had. It combines a flaky buttery croissant with a sweet, tart raspberry filling. The Hamentashen were good - the chocolate was better than the poppyseed - as the later needed much more Mohn (poppyseed paste). The rugelach was good; the raspberry was too sticky, but the chocolate was fine. If you're near Elkins Park, and you haven't tried Rolings Bakery, it's time you did!
