Well... Waited over 30 minutes as I didn't know there are TWO different lines depending on what you're ordering. The line to the left is just bagels and the line to the right is the grill...so breakfast sandwiches and what not. I don't understand why I can't order an egg sandwich on the bagel line as I'm getting a bagel. Makes NO sense. So after I waited on the wrong line the girl behind the counter said "the grill is full so you have to wait on that line." I understand the grill being "full" as it's a Saturday morning, but I don't understand why my order can't be taken . So I go over to the other line. A gentleman was nice enough to let me go in front of him as he saw that I waited on the wrong line. I noticed that eggs were being cooked ahead of time. No wonder the grill was full. Piles and piles of bacon and eggs just sitting there. Cheese added to order. I don't like the idea of eggs being premade like that and just sitting there. No wonder the grill was full! My sandwich wasn't even that good. Would have been better if it was made fresh. Bagel was good though, but the contents of the sandwich was blah and meh. It also cost $7.05!!! That's the most I've ever paid for an egg sandwich on Long Island. Also, when I was waiting on the line I heard an employee (blonde haired woman) yell and curse out a customer on the phone. I am from Connecticut and one of the joys of my 25+ years of visiting my in-laws (they are awesome too) is the ambrosia of a Bagel Boss bagel. Specifically, and I'm not kidding, the Oat Bran Bagel Boss bagel is the very best bagel I have ever tasted (and I have tried tons of bagels, Ess a Bagel, Boston Bagels, etc). The Oat Bran Bagel is kind of "off the menu" and you need to ask for it as they tend to make smaller batches of these Oat Bran Bagels. Don't be fooled by the name "Oat Bran" ---- just try one of these and you imho will be blown away how good it is. Ok, and here is the reason for the 4 and not 5 stars....value. At Costco I can get about four or five bagels for the price of one Bagel Boss bagel. The Costco bagels are of course not as good, and are smaller. However, I just wish Bagle Boss brought back a little more value. (I'm willing to buy in bulk - as bagel lovers know, Bagels freeze very well). Having said all this, Bagel Boss rules, the staff is fine, the Bagels are wonderful and the veggie cream cheese is hands down the best cream cheese I have ever tasted. This used to be my go to for bagels in LI for over 15 years. Recently I've noticed a lot of the employees are not changing their gloves in between making orders, changing full bags of trash out of the trash can, wiping down the display where the bagels are removing bagel debris, and taking money at the register. I literally watched 4 of the 5 employees behind the counter one day go through at least 3/4 customers each without anyone changing gloves in between taking money and making orders. There was 1 employee (young lady, short hair) who changed her gloves each time. If she's not there I won't get any food from this establishment. read more

A large amount of staff works behind the counter in some kind of chaotic fashion, bumping into each other and fighting for grill time. While the bagels & breakfast sandwiches are good, the service is awful. I have only lived in Bay shore for 5 days and already had 2 issues with this store. One time I ordered a bacon egg & cheese and a bagel with cream cheese, a very simple order. The young guy with longer hair brings my food to the counter, totally forgetting my bagel with cream cheese (not the biggest deal), but still taking additional time to complete my order as he had forgot. Because I know how long the lines are, the next time I ordered I called in ahead of time so I didn't have to wait. Bacon egg & cheese & a bagel with cream cheese, again a simple order, they said 25 mins. I get into the store 30 mins after I called and walk to the front to ask for my pick up order. They NEVER made it, so they proceed to try and tell me "sorry it was busy" which is an intolerable excuse as that's the whole reason why I had called to order ahead of time. The same young guy with longer hair proceeded to tell me he was going to make it now, and I was just over the situation and told him to please cancel my order & I walked out. It's sad that the level of service is so subpar bc the bagels are good. On top of the service not being great, they are also very slow.
