Came in around noon on a summer Saturday and they were nearly sold out of bagels. The early bird gets the bagel it seems. No one else was in the store, so hard to say how they handle the morning rush, but service was friendly. Seating inside but not somewhere you'd hang out other than as a convenience. Unfortunately I did not love my bagel nor the jalapeno cream cheese. It did have jalapenos in it, but also I'm 99% sure it was mixed with frank's red hot. I would not have ordered it if I knew that; it was red/pink in color but I ordered off of a posted menu not by looking in the case. The bagel itself was soft and fluffy - more bread than bagel. If that's your preference you will love it, but I think a bagel should have a notable crust/skin for texture. read more

i gave 5 stars bc i feel bad and i don't want them to go out of business... but whoever was working register today, aug 2, around 11:45, needs to go. she was absolutely cursing up a storm! once or twice in a funny manner is acceptable, but this lady was genuinly angry and cursing every other word. all i wanted was an everything bagel with avocado, and she couldn't find the avocado button on the screen so she was cursing it out and asking me if i can just get a plain bagel instead:( i understand she was probably just frustrated, but this truly was scary as she was hostile! the entire time. and to her cook and other customers too!! read more

The bagels have always been kinda smushy, overly airy, kinda crisp on the outside but like kinda not. They're not NY style nor are they Montreal I think they're just Galloway style. The sandwiches are decent and they offset the weird bagel"ish" bagel. Now, lately the bagels have just been made wrong or something. They are impossible to cut and are like in an unpresentable state and flat..?..I don't think they are being boiled/baked properly. These are the only bagels in town. A forever solid neighborhood performer for years that is willing to adjust and adapt as necessary as evident by the chewier variety of bagels. Truthfully once upon a time their bagels were created for customers whose dentures were wobbling in their mouths but the onion bagel I enjoyed today was crisp, moderately chewy (still not NY style but clearly a bagel not a restyled Kaiser with a hole.), and flavorful with the onions serving as the perfect contrast to the smooth creamy homemade veggie cream cheese. The bagel change elevated the stars from 3 to 5 but the service here for the last several years has always been friendly, neighborly, and top notch. But, today I watched as the staff rushed to help an older woman who fell outside in the parking lot. The woman mattered ... An ice bag was created and as she sat down for her bagel breakfast you could tell that the behind the counter crew had one eye on her as they waited on others. That is going beyond expectations but then again this is a neighborhood member not just an interloper trying to make big bucks. And, the prices are great ... $10 for a Baker's Dozen and $5 for half with day olds wrapped for bargain hunters. As I prepared to leave trays of freshly baked circles were being placed in the bins ready for the lunch crowd! Good start to the day ... The bagels are thing as hell. Not quality, good bagels like at Hot Bagels, or even Manhattan Bagels. Some pre-packaged nonesense you'd get from Shoprite (not the ones they bake). Went there an hour and a half before they closed and the girl at the counter said the grill was shut off for the day, but the older woman was mumbling, seemingly really annoyed that we came in an hour and a half before closing, asking for a sandwich. I honestly shouldn't have even given them the 5$. Like who wants to eat somewhere where there's some witch who doesn't want you to be a customer? You shut the grill off, that's ok. But don't be annoyed when someone comes in at a very reasonable time. If you don't want customers, either don't have the business or don't work there because it makes for a terrible ambiance. Will never go back there again. The Poppy's Bagels and More at the Exchange is WAY better. We went there after for a sandwich and it was the complete opposite experience. Go there instead. read more

Last time I went in a couple weeks ago....they gave me my tuna melt inside out. Yesterday I went in and the young kid working the counter told me they couldn't make a tuna melt even though it was 10:30 and I've ordered them at that time before. I look at the case and see the tuna salad and he says "I can make you tuna on a bagel if you want" and I said "if you have the tuna and the bagels and the cheese then you can make a tuna melt that doesn't even make any sense" and he goes "let me go ask the back it might just be one of those things ya know?" No I don't know...I've worked in food service for years and I don't know how you can rationalize any of that. He comes back and says he can make it, so I order a tuna melt and home fries. Our food comes about 10 minutes later (was a takeout so we were waiting) and when we get to the car I notice there's no home fries. When we walked back in there was a woman in front of us coming back in because THEY FORGOT THE LOX ON HER LOX SANDWICH! How do you even do that!? We tell him the home fries are missing and he says he'll go start them....so you just completely forgot my order the second I said it? Then a guy came in to order 4 bagels...two plain, one buttered, one with cream cheese, and he was watching him make them and HE DIDNT MAKE A SINGLE BAGEL RIGHT! The man was watching him and was like "no that's wrong. That's wrong too." And finally just took the wrong order...which I wouldn't have because making 4 bagels isn't hard at all and he paid for them. The guy left with all the wrong food it was a shame. Then we're waiting 20 minutes for our home fries, and had to ask multiple times on their progress. He literally kept forgetting about them on the flat top. Then I get home and the home fries are mushy as all hell because he let them go too long, and THERE WAS A HAIR IN THEM! I WAITED 20 MINUTES FOR A HAIR IN MY FOOD! Our takeout order which should've taken 10-15 minutes top had us there for 45 minutes and messed up our time frame for the whole rest of the day. ALSO he put my coin change in the tip jar WITHOUT EVEN ASKING ME and didn't deserve it with how horrible the service was. If I paid on my card I'd be calling them today but unfortunately we paid cash. Never going to this location again. Jimmie Leeds road is so much better...service and food wise. read more

Always a great selection of assorted bagels to pick from. Place is kept very clean. There is a sufficient area to sit and dine and the food comes out quickly and hot. I usually will buy 6 bagels to go but have realized the prices have gone up quite a bit. Sometimes it takes awhile to get waited on if the front end employee is making sandwiches. This restaurant has the best bagels in Nj !! They make homemade flavored cream cheese, they make fresh egg ,chicken & white fish salad. They have lox as well ! They make the best bacon, sausage , pork roll or even turkey sausage or turkey bacon egg sandwiches, omelettes , cold sandwiches, the food is really fabulous and made very quick ! The coffees are phenomenal and the staff is just incredible!! , They also make the best bagel and sandwich trays for special events. I have seen the staff hustle in this place. Sometimes they have a line out the door and they work the line fast and answer the phone for orders that seem to never stop and all with a smile ! I don't know how they do it !! The Galloway location is the busiest restaurant I've ever seen at lunch time, but somehow even if they're sometimes short staffed, they're able to get the orders done, and the food comes out great ! The Leeds point location has a very friendly staff and a great atmosphere for dining inside ! I love this place. Whatever you do don't listen to any negative reviews they're a joke this place is constantly busy they MUST be doing something right . call ahead if you don't wanna wait they will take your order and they are always so nice and really try to please. They have several locations to choose from. Today I chose Galloway location. I ordered a bacon egg white and cheese, steak egg white and cheese and a scrape egg and cheese. All on today's bagels. All with a hash brown in the sandwich and a side of fries. It took from start to finish 12 minutes. 10 of which were cooking time. There was only two employees today. But they were all smiles and friendly with a decent amount of traffic at 1pm on a Tuesday. I won't lie, I ate my sandwich too fast. Try it, you won't regret it. read more

The price for To Go cream cheeses was A&G little steep, but it certainly didn't dissuade the large crowd lined up to buy them. This place gets great ratings for serving mushy, soft, overly fermented, stretchy bagels? Who should police the bakers here? This is not a Bagel place, it is just the softest bread joint. Again, people in South Jersey are either super nice or they really have not experienced the world. They keep giving high ratings for the lowest quality products they are served for their money. Be prepared for your order to constantly be wrong regardless of how busy or slow they are. They do not listen to specifications on orders even though they confirm it over the phone they'll charge for such additional items but won't actually apply it to the order. The girls in there are extremely sketchy looking and look like they were pulled out of rehab. If you can go to the one in Galloway next to shoprite do so, they have it together over there. read more

We ordered our bagels then noticed the man with the trump hat behind the counter didn't have a mask on. Other people in line asked why he didn't have a mask and he said "I don't wear masks".. he was around every single item behind the counter. I wish I never ordered- if I saw before I would have walked out with the other people who were in line. I immediately threw out the bagel upon leaving. I do not leave my house due to my family member who is at high risk. This was the first time in almost a year that we have decided to go outside of our house to grab something to eat, and if she gets sick and ends up in the hospital we know who's to blame. Everything you could ask for in a bagel shop. They also have some great lunch options, my go to is the chicken and roasted red pepper panini which is always super fresh. Next time you're driving down Route 9 in this area and thinking about stopping at wawa for a quick bite... DON'T. Bagel Gourmet has actually fresh food and prices comparable to what you would pay for a soggy hoagie from Wawa and also isn't any slower. Being from North Jersey I can't bring myself to give it quite 5 stars. Their bagels are a touch behind what I grew up on but for the area, you can't beat these. Hands down best bagel place I've been to in Southern NJ. I also prefer this spot over the one located on Jimmy Leads, service is really the only difference between the two. read more

I was recently in the area and a friend of mine recommended this place. I had really high expectations since they had such good reviews on Yelp. They had a variety of bagels and some quite unique flavors. Since I was there for breakfast I went for the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese on the Asiago bagel. The bagel was really big - larger than a normal size bagel! It was pretty delicious but didn't blow my mind (that might be becuase I think I have already had the best bagel so everything doesn't quite compare) but I am giving this place 3 stars because the experience I had while I was there. The place isn't huge and they only had about 2-3 employees working from what we could see but the tables weren't really wiped down, their were flies everywhere, and this kid kept opening the door and leaving it open (not their fault!) but it made it so cold in the restaurant which just made me uncomfortable. I would be willing to come back and try it again because the bagel was good, I just wouldn't rave about it. read more

Ok anyone who knows me, knows I grew up right around the corner from the original BAGEL GOURMET Leeds point. To say that place has gone downhill in an understatement! After many disappointing times calling a head of time to pick up my bagel and then preceding to wait in a big line while my bagel gets cold. (Anyone ever heard of a pick up line! Duh!) I decided to give them another try. I called this morning order two bagels. I go to pick them up and they act all confused as if I didn't call and order, one girl says she made it and it must of been given to the wrong person! Other girl asks me if I called the right number!!! OMG I've known that phone number for 25 years!!! Instead of standing there blaming one and other for literally giving my bagels away they should of apologized and started to remake my sandwiches instead of wasting my time! Although this business has changed hands since the original opened, the quality of the NY style bagel sandwiches has not skipped a beat. I've been getting bagels here since I was a kid, best bagels I've ever had. Always very fresh and soft. Perfectly toasted if you're into that, and lots of options if you like flavored cream-cheeses. I love cream-cheese but they definitely give you at least 2x more than anyone could need on your bagel. I like this though because it can easily be fixed by scraping some off, and you know you'll always have enough. There's also a great selection of drinks to go with your breakfast, and the service is very friendly and quick. read more
