Purchased this ham at the Deli on Monday morning (8-7-23) @ 9:00am. This was sliced at the Deli, not from the grab and go case. How does an employee serve this to a customer? I'm sure the early morning staff is an experienced crew so it's amazing this was served after seeing it sliced. I don't even know what is wrong with it. I can only imagine what else is so carelessly handled in this store. We desperately need some Supermarket competition in Galloway. read more

We all have to shop for groceries and for most of us convenience outweighs every other consideration. If there is a full service grocer within a short radius from the center of our lives, our homes, it usually can overcome any and all shortcomings to become the food deliverer for most of the cupboard's collection of cans and boxes as well as the items that add clutter to our freezers and refrigerators. The recently improvements to this chain grocer (Their historically shockingly poor produce department has been upgraded to an attractive market and their deli now has a clean modern feel to it.) does provide a welcome to customers until you notice their employees. These folks must have gone to the 'NEVER SMILE TRAINING SCHOOL' because 90% of them look like they are in absolute misery as they take on their customer service related jobs. The cashiers are amongst the least happy folks I have ever encountered but it's easy to pick up on the 'DO NOT SMILE' while you work theme throughout the store. Now this is not to say that the people who work at this particular SHOPRITE aren't happy in their personal lives it's just something about entering into this store that leads to their lips having the inability to peak at the corners into welcoming smiles. Put a Wegman's with their employee friendly concept of management anywhere close to Galloway Township and customers would discover why this ShopRite chain is not at the top of America's best places to work nor amongst the best grocery stores to shop at. It is no coincidence that Wegman's is at the top of both categories. As for the store's content ... well they have Galloway's best sushi! The deli is efficient and the produce is better than the mediocrity that existed for many years. Otherwise, you won't be excitedly thinking that investing a few bonus hours at this store might be worth your while. In fact, if you want something special because you are creating some amazing Asian dish ... uh more than likely you won't find what you are looking for here. One of the other constants at this store (I have shopped during morning, afternoon and evening hours) are the piles of stock in various aisles waiting to be placed on the shelves. Perhaps this is considered a bonus because it provides exercise for customer as they make gymnastic like moves to avoid the obstacles in their way. And, what's up with the ShopRite chain anyhow? I have recently added a residency that has led to the discovery of a ShopRite just outside Woodbury NJ. Guess what ... their employees ALL SMILE ... they have a daycare for kids to wait in while their parents shop and the entire store seems dedicated to their customers .... oh wait ... there is a Wegman's just down the road. The folks of Galloway have no choice ... this is a dictatorial grocer market place because this ShopRite is the only game in town or in the next town or the town after that. It's a shame because grocery stores can be so much better than serving as an outstanding Sushi outlet with a decent deli but at the end of the day that's what you get at this store but those two sections of the store do keep this rating from sinking to that one pointed star review. Hope friends ... hope ... maybe Wegman's will move into your town and provide the quality grocery shopping experience you deserve but until then .... enjoy the CAN CAN SALES as best you can. read more

LOVED this HUMONGOUS Shoprite! We have Zallie's in my Southern New Jersey area. I'm not sure who the owners/family are here, but kudos! Not only was this Shoprite huge, it was also clean and well labeled. Our cashier was super friendly and even pointed me out to the closest liquor store. We are hungry perusing the aisles for a party good, and found several of them, from rings of shrimp cocktail, to veggie and fruit trays, desserts, ETC. We actually wound up buying chips (2 large for only $7) and salsa. Of course I had my phone number linked for savings. I joked with my boyfriend that I wanted to LIVE HERE! Not Galloway, but . . . I had to double check to make sure this was a Shop Rite. What a great experience shopping here verses the Shop Rites in Ocean County and even over in McKee City and Absecon. The store is well stocked, people are friendly what else could you ask for? The hard facts are this is the only store for miles and those types of business "get big heads" thinking you're at their mercy but NOT this store. This is a credit to the managers and associates ability to maintain high standards when there is a temptation to slack off. I travel from Little Egg Harbor and have convinced my neighbors to do the same despite the Saker Shop Rite being only 8 miles in Manahawkin. That store is a circus from the parking lot to being out of stock to unhelpful associate and it's gotten worse since the sale by the previous owners. People of Galloway you are blessed. Just Tuesday I picked up some beautiful cod from SR Galloway not only was the fish delicious but the clerk DIDN'T act like "she hated her job" and smiled and spoke...yes spoke! I don't know if the PHARMACY gets recognized enough, but I want to add I changed to this pharmacy recently and I have to say the tech's and pharmacists are BY FAR THROUGH NICEST, BEST, helps with best pricing! Dale the shopping-cart employee deserves a raise! I ended up losing my car key in the parking lot and THANK GOD i bumped into Dale. With no expectations, I sincerely asked him to keep an eye out for my car key in the parking lot as I ran back in the store to retrace my steps. I was extremely anxious as I had left my dog in the car too. But within minutes, Dale comes in the store to find me and hand me my key! In the middle of pushing a bunch of carts, he dropped it all to help a fellow customer retrieve her keys without any issues. What a selfless act of kindness and a great employee representing this local shoprite!! THANK YOU DALE!!! You saved the day! My dog and I are eternally grateful. Give this man a raise! read more

Poor customer service. I bought a lot of pasta and cereal for a local food bank. The cashier looked upset. I double checked and made sure that this wasn't the fast line. And it wasn't. At the end of the transaction, I asked the cashier if there is anybody that could help me get some of the items to my car. She looked annoyed and didn't answer the question. So I asked her instead if I could leave some of the items on one of the counters (next to hers) since I have to take 2 trips to the car. She said no and pointed to the rear wall. She brushed me off, took care of the next customer while I was still trying to figure out where to leave the bags (that were still on her counter). Not helpful at all. I don't mind that nobody could help me carry the bags to my car. It was her attitude on how she handled the situation that was upsetting. read more

The Galloway SR is pretty much my one-stop grocery store. Occasionally I make it to the Absecon SR which is larger with more product choices across the board. However, am very happy with the Galloway offerings. Store is kept clean, personnel are helpful and friendly. Parking can be a challenge, but going early AM makes parking and shopping much easier. read more

Once I wrote a poor review of Shoprite at Galloway. My review has changed dramatically since then. In the past, never bought fish from Shoprite because of the smell of bleach (which in my mind was to cover the smell of bad fish. It has been over two years (I believe) since I wrote that review. Because I wrote that review, I thought I would be remiss if I didn't write this new one about the changes I've noticed (for sometime time now). The smell of bleach is gone, and I only smell the regular smell of fish by the seafood section. Personnel is always professional, friendly and accommodating (as it has always been). I actually went to the absecon store the other day because all the strawberries were bad at this store and was surprised at how much nicer it was. The product was great and I really liked the set up. This is a mixed review. Definitely need more cashiers. And why do they never have the 20 item checkout manned?? Again, why have ten items or less open and people have a whole cart of food they are buying! Don't allow them to use the express line under this circumstance. That being said, I was witness to a cashier showing great kindness and patience to a disabled senior ahead of me. He just rambled on and on and she was so very nice. I loved their store because they had all the gluten free stuff so that's why I can hardly wait to go there again unless it's not a zoo.

The sushi and salad option have greatly improved in the last few months. The sushi is made to order and fresh, but the deluxe rolls don't come cheap, with some at 9 dollars a pop. It would be nice if they offer a seating area to enjoy the lunch options. read more

Disagree with last review about hours. If you need to go grocery shopping after 10p you need to look at your priorities. If it's an emergency and you need something, that's what the 24 hour CVS is for. This store is miles ahead of the absecon location. This store has the poorest performance when it comes to having enough sale items in stock. It seems they run out before the week is over. For example, 18 eggs for $1.99 (if I remember the price correctly). Not a single container in the store. Advertised a Perdue roaster bag chicken. Nothing but air! Either they're in financial trouble or they need to hire better buyers. In my experience, most (not all) cashiers are friendly, with some absolutely pleasant to deal with. I agree the store is a bit cramped, but with no place to expand, there's not much that can be done. Maybe it's time to build another store nearby and get a "world class" store in Galloway. I have to admit I'm a bit spoiled, having come from Howell where the Shoprite there is big, bright and has nice wide isles. read more

I come to this Galloway ShopRite at least 3/4 times a week. A lot of times they don't have the item on the shelves. When finally found an employee to ask, they're like don't wanna talk to u, if they can tell u to go away they probably will, rude employees !!!!!!! Specially the meat employees , that muscle head guy rude and the older guy too bad attitude . I wish I know there names so I can mention it here. I gotta say this, if u hate ur job, QUIT!!!!! Coz the way u act in there affected the others and ruin people's day. SHOPERITE management do something have some employee manners meeting or something. My favorite Shoprite in the local area. The people are very friendly and helpful. Whenever I have a question or need help finding something the employees are willing to go out of their way to help me, whether it is looking for something in the back of the store (stock room) or walking me to the aisle and even finding the item on the shelf for me unlike another Shoprite in the area where the employees would just point to an aisle and say "it's down that aisle" or "we must be out of it". The prices are reasonable and items are easy to find. They have great sales every week. The store is well lit, uncluttered, and clean. I find shopping here an enjoyable experience. read more

The parking lot is horrible, very small and you don't get to go out the side where u parked. Smaller inventory then larger stores, full stock boxes laying in the already narrow aisles. Wouldn't surprise me if they have lawsuits from customers tripping over them. Terrible customer service staff experience, many times. Recently returned 2 Entenmann's cakes, in the pouring rain, lady at the desk informs me I cannot make a return from the Absecon store to Galloway! I say that's ridiculous, have done so before and she says no, it's store policy on perishable items. I continued to say that it doesn't seem correct, since most foods are perishable. She stood her ground, so I had to go to Absecon, again it's deluging rain, I am very disabled in one entire leg, and am told of course you can return to any store, regardless of where purchase was made.
