We finally got a seat and 10 minutes later we were still waiting for someone to take our drink order. I have been going to Sunryser for a couple of years and I love leaving a good review every time I visit. But recently I saw a negative review I believe came from a disgruntled ex-employee who shall remain nameless. I remember when she first started working as a waitress. Her whole demeanor was dark. We went after hearing about this place . The food was good. The decor was unique. The service was truly lacking. This could be the difference between a great place to eat and a local spot only. If you like service you probably will not return. A bunch of young girls in shorts so short and an old lady trying to fit in with the young ones , a true disgrace. The ambience is real homie like going to grandma's house and the customer service felt the same, nice and welcoming. We purchased the crab benefits with home fries as shown on the website. The decor was so cute with mismatched wooded desks/tables and very homey vibes. We arrived around 12:30 and were seated about 10 minutes later. I wish I could give The Sunryser 10 stars! We found this little gem last summer when camping in the area and have become addicted! The food is fresh, clean and home made! The specials are amazing and different every time. We usually order from the specials. The house it's in is adorable and every room has its own old fashioned charm. They have a screen porch in the back and some outside tables around also. This time, we sat on the front porch with our pups, since we were traveling today. I just want to say, that I am appalled. I have in the past , eaten at Sunryser as I am a local who grew up eating their food. But after today, I will not support their restaurant ever again. Mother's Day was a fail for breakfast. My family and I walked in and saw 4-5 empty tables and were greeted by a middle aged white woman but were asked to wait. She went and talked to the 2 other servers that were just standing around and they proceeded to look back and forth at us 3-4 times with conversation, only for the same woman to approach us again and ask us to continue to wait so she could have a casual conversation with a patron about how he was feeling. She came back to us again looking confused telling us to hold on like she didn't know where to seat us despite the 4 empty tables. A few minutes later she asked us if we had a preference of where we sat, my gf said no. She immediately said okay you can sit outside - and led us outside to a porch where no one else was sitting. In that moment, we decided to leave. I went back inside to express my disgust at the service only to see that the white family that came in after us had been settled into one of the tables inside, where we easily could have been sat. read more

Ruined my Mother's Day morning! Went with my family for breakfast this morning. We walked in and clocked 4-5 empty tables. We were greeted by a middle aged woman but asked to wait while she went back to the two other servers that were standing around - they looked back and forth at us 3 to 4 times and then she approached us again asking us to wait while she had a casual conversation with a patron about how he was feeling. She then came back and looked at us like she was confused... telling us again to hold on like she didn't know where to sit us. She asked if we had a preference of seating- I said no, unbeknownst to me that we would be taken outside to sit on a porch by ourselves. We decided to leave due to the clear prejudice that was shown... blacks to the back mentality. My partner went back inside to inform them of the poor treatment and noticed that the white family that came in behind us was immediately sat at one of the open tables inside. What a way to start Mother's Day! I will never support a place that makes me feel less than... and I suggest you don't either. read more

Is it ok for a busboy to yell at a customer for being in his way(not knowing the busboy was behind him and apologized for being in his way. Is it ok for the busboy to yell at the same customer for moving out of his way before the busboy got close to him? All the customer asked was why are you shaking your head and waving your arms around? He yelled" you're in our way(it was only him)can you see we are working here. I told him you don't have to yell at me I'm a customer and that doesn't give you the right to treat me in that manner. He just stomped away. In the end no apology and the told me too just come during the week days and not come when he's there. So I'm the problem, they said no they need this busboy for the weekends and if we fire him who's going to bus the tables? I said all I wanted is an apology from him and he wasn't going to give it So I told them I won't be back till I get an apology from him. PEOPLE you can kiss customer service goodbye. It's set up kind of like a diner. Average amount of noise - not too loud. The food was ample - had to pack a box to go. I ordered the Lumberjack from the breakfast menu and substituted turkey bacon & turkey sausage for the pork. My friend ordered the egg meat and cheese sandwich.
