I ordered through DoorDash and they didn't even accept or confirm the order until my dasher was already there and waiting - almost 30 minutes later. After the food got delivered I noticed the matzo balls were only two per cup and kind of small but otherwise "decent" at best. The problem I had was when I was almost halfway done eating half of a breakfast wrap - I bit in and found a used bandaid that must have fallen off of whoever was making the sandwich when they were wrapping. I called to complain about it and the person who answered the phone was surprised and said they'd issue a credit but I had to reach out to DoorDash hours later to get it resolved by myself. Under no circumstances should anyone bite into their food and find a used bandaid - this place is disgusting. read more

My favorite spot for bagels in west Milford. Great staff, great bagels, and I love their Italian sub. So so good! My favorite cream cheese is their unique horseradish-cheddar-bacon. It has such a nice balance of flavor and reminds me of something my mom used to make. And the Dakotas (s,e,c, with a potato pancake on a croissant) are so good I have to eat salads now to prevent myself from buying bigger pants! Thanks for providing the best bagels in town! read more

I was surprised to learn that the average rating here is three stars. This is the first bagel place I tried upon moving to West Milford, and My family and I really love the bagels here. There's many options for cream cheese, with amazing flavors from plain and vegetable, to Buffalo, to bacon scallion. That said, there have been times when something was missing from my order (minor , I think they forgot to put the lettuce and tomato I requested on my sandwich) and if you come late in the morning, the bagels tend to be hard, indicating that they are not baking them fresh throughout the day. I come to this place quite often, decent food and bagels. Although, some of the workers are unnecessarily rude. There are two women who work there, the older blonde with the glasses rushes us through our order and constantly acts like we are bothering her. The other lady is quite nice and a pleasure to be served by, she's always polite! The men who work there are the same as the older lady with the glasses. Paul used to own it since I was a kid. He was always a genuine guy and I guess the long time worker who was always ,never the nicest, must have bought it from him.French toast Bagel is $3 they said it's +$2.50 extra if they put butter on it.... $2.50 for just butter !?!? Even the girl called someone over to come check to make sure it's even correct bc it seems they have the problem a lot with people questioning the crazy price. He explained the price and said they charge for the French toast bagel and then also charge you for a regular bagel and then butter on top of that also? I'm getting one bagel not two. Can't imagine where you came up with charging for two bagels and only serving one. Weirdest scam I've ever heard. I will go home and toast and butter it myself and just get it at bagel nosh instead of wasting the time to come to this remote location. but thank you for completely ruining the deli I came to as a kid. If bagel Nosh can do the same exact thing for $4 I think bagel town can too. Considering people drive all the way to the center of town, you're lucky to even get the business from out of town people when bagel nosh is literally everywhere. Went way down hill since Paul left. it sucks his family ran that business so good hearted and wholesomely. The new owner said paul hasn't owned it in 3 years. I moved 3 years ago... and thought i missed it so I came..... But good to know this is no longer a place I will have to miss too much. truly a shame how it was such a lovely place to come to back then...this time I left with an untoasted uncut unbuttered bagel bc they wanted nearly $6 to do anything at all to it. Buttering bagels is not a job that you make $6 doing 30 seconds of "work" for a $1.95 product. It just isn't justified. And yes I own my own business I understand how it works. UPDATE: it doesn't even look like they used to, super dry, they used to be covered in French toast drizzle and have a little auger disk in the middle. I was going back and forth between 3/4 stars but this place is pretty consistent so I'll go with four. I'm very particular about my breakfast sandwiches and I appreciate a place that listens to my order. Yes I'm that annoying person that asks for extra eggs (4 to be exact) and two pieces of Taylor ham and this place actually gives that to me! I like that the bagels are big and doughy and that they offer a multigrain option which is always a plus. Hey I need all the fiber I can get! I think people just don't have high standards these days. I gave this place 3 tries. Every time the owner is either complaining. The staff is very unfocused and had no customer service experience. The bagels lack flavor, the decor is bland and boring. That was the very last time I'm returning, when a service person hands me a bagel without a bag and napkin. Poor leadership in this case. Take some lessons from places in an urban area please. Don't bother unless you like being treated very poorly. read more

Really good bagels and egg salad, the two things I can speak on. Their bagels are delicious. Soup is always a popular choice it seems. When I pick up soup they always ask "hot or cold" so locals must stock up on their homemade soup. Seems a little unorganized during busy times but all food seems fresh and tastes good! Always loved the bagels here but since there are new owners, they are not very good at all. Bought bagels there last week and was extremely disappointed. Now at all like the old owners. I often stop in on my way to work, it's never super busy and I haven't had to wait in a line. Every single time the employees are rude the bagels are alright, not great. They do have lunch options if you're desperate midday. They make coffee ice cubes for the iced coffee which is cool. The main takeaway with this place is the attitude I get when I'm there. Their bagels are good, but the staff lacks pep and focus and half of the time do not listen. Only the owner seems to care that he is there. There can be three people behind the counter and one is preparing a bagel, getting ready to make a coffee, and the other two just stand there. They don't offer to make the coffee, or ring someone up. I can understand if they were very busy, but I have seen this several times with no one on line but myself. Teamwork is definitely not a priority here. Not to mention, 75% they get my order wrong even with ordering the exact same thing every day. And, and this is a huge pet peeve, they make hot tea as if it's a coffee. What I mean is sugar, milk, teabag, water. Tea has to seep in hot water. Making it like that, the customer gets a warm cup of sweet milk. Bagels are good. Three stars for that. read more

The bagels here are excellent, I recently moved back from Manhattan and they are as good or better than any I would get in the city (the same goes for the cream cheese). The staff is friendly and they now take credit cards. It can be a little slow at times but worth it there are no places in the area even close it terms of bagels. Call ahead if you are ordering multiple breakfast sandwiches during busy hours. read more

Came in 1130am Friday, long line service was quite slow. Upon ordering the bagel selection was scarce. Ordered 1 Taylor ham and cheese on multigrain SPK, she wrote down 2. Ordered second Taylor ham and cheese on a poppy SPK, she had a total of 3 bagels on the transaction and she was confused when I corrected her I only ordered 2 bagels. Wait time wasn't bad less than 5 minutes. While waiting however a customer who clearly knew the owner came in and commented on the lack of bagels only to be brought out piping hot everything bagels that were not offered to anyone else. Bagels were very hard and difficult to chew. No salt or ketchup but the pepper was dumped out on top overpowering the taste of the Taylor ham. 1 star is being generous, not a fan and will not be going back here. Save your money and time the long line is slowness nothing else. read more

Bagels are good, but I'm giving two stars for being stuck in the Stone age and having an outdated menu that doesn't reflect their current prices and not accepting credit or debit cards. Instead they expect you to use their ATM with a 3$ fee and then a bank fee for another 3$ for a $1.85 bagel... So if you don't bring cash expect you pay 8$ for one bagel. You would expect in 2017 every business would accept card payments. My advise to the owner is increase your prices by 3cents for each dollar to account for the credit fees and represent that on the new menu with current prices. read more

This bagel shop is the only one I know in the area that offers blueberry bagels. Yum Yum Yum. Slightly toasted with some butter. You can't get any better than this. I think they are only offered in the summer - so stock up. I usually get some to freeze for the winter. The only reason it gets any stars is because I enjoy the egg sandwiches they make. I am basing a majority of my review on how rude the owner is. He never has a smile on, you have to stare him down for him to say good morning or hello, how are you? He is also incredibly rude to his staff as a business owner I could never imagine being so rude to my employees especially in front of customers. On multiple occasions he has referred to them as "pains in his a**" or "useless" out loud/under his breathe in front of me and it is pathetic because without them he wouldn't be open. Bought a groupon for this place to give it a try. Not horrible, but def not worth going back. Small dinky place, with limited selections. Had a whole wheat everything bagel with cajun chicken salad, a veggie side salad and a pickle. Also bought a few extra bagels for rest of the week. Bagels are rack oven bagels, meaning they don't boil then cook them, which is the old fashioned, and much better way! The bagels were kind of small and didn't taste that good. The cajun chicken salad was ok, but I've had it at other bagel places that made it much better. They also put such a small amount on the bagel that 1/3 of the time, I was biting into bagel with little to nothing inside. Considering they charge $7 for the sandwich, side salad and pickle, it was really a rip off! I can get a huge hero with a side salad for the same 7$!! The side salad was fine but the pickle was kinda soggy. Overall, I would choose most any other bagel place over this one...much better bagels on Long island with more choices, better taste, and a more fair deal! read more

After finding the hidden gem tucked in bear forte I have quickly become a regular. The bagels are done the right way and they have a nice variety. Fri-sun French toast bagels are a treat but the go really fast. Their lunch sandwiches are unique and delicious as well as having an amazing variety of specialty cream cheeses. I'm a sucker for bacon horseradish cheddar. Plus they'll make almost any sandwich on a mini bagel. The cash only thing kinda sucks but I think most bagel deli places are like that and well it's worth it for a place that knows the right way to prepare a bagel. I'd give then 5 stars but they have messed up my order a few times and the one girl that's almost always working has a serious attitude issue. But that doesn't keep my from coming back week after week. I would definitely recommend this place for breakfast and lunch. It's the best bagel place in the area. They hand roll the bagels and seed them on both sides. A little crisp on the outside and softer on the inside. They have all the varieties that we all love and Paul experiments with new types of bagel from time to time and that's good. It's not a restaurant so there is no private seating area. You're really almost in the traffic flow to the counter. That said it works as this is a small place and the seating is fine for a bagel or sandwich and homemade soup. They also have outside seating for warmer days.The help is generally great. Some have moved on to other occupations but seem to come back to assist in times of need which speaks a lot to the relationship of Paul and his employees. read more
