We just tried Bagels And... this weekend for the first time since moving to Annapolis. We had tried Naval bagels and felt that they didn't have the variety or cream cheese flavors we were looking for, feeling disappointed when we left. Bagels And... might not have an amazing new age exterior and dining area, but the charm of their family-owned business and the wide selection of breakfast and lunch bagel choices is great. We each had a different bagel with a different cream cheese spread and they both were wonderful! So delicious and fresh! We will definitely continue to come back for our bagel needs! read more

Bagels are always fresh and the service from the ladies is great but, the owner is rude as hell. I've been patronizing this establishment everyday for more than a year or two and yesterday was the first time he showed his true colors. Had a problem with my sandwich so I called to see if I was heard wrong. Dave, the owner, answered and hung up on me when I tried telling him the problem. The Bagels were good. The two stars is really about the customer service experience. I had read previous reviews that indicated as much, but we walked in ready to give the place a shot. We ordered two bagels, paid and then waited for a few minutes -- up to this point everything was going fine. I was digging the old signage and the decor, it reminded me of something that hadn't been updated since the 80s. Then our order was called and I went to go to the counter to pick it up, the person working there had such a cold and dismissive vibe. Great bagels! I love the Owner's Delight bagel. They have a lot of options and always seem to have big lines. Will keep coming back.

Usually I like places with quirks, but from the permanent sign on the door saying 'restroom for customers only,' to the signs over the counter and the coffee bar saying 'no phone use' to the sign hanging over the dining area saying 'only food purchased here may be eaten here' - all the signage here made me feel like I was with a giant nag. Not ideal for wanting to kick back with a bagel and a coffee. I did like that they had an egg bagel with everything toppings - and that bagel was very tasty. The lox spread was pretty good. But the coffee was undrinkable - I dumped mine out because it was far too bitter. But I did like the quirk of an olive atop the bagel - although I would have liked to have known it still had its pit. If I was looking for a good bagel, I wouldn't necessarily come here and I certainly wouldn't take friends. But if I was passing by and in the mood, I would stop. read more

It pains me to do this!!! I've been coming to this store since I was a Midshipman back in 1996. I now live in Los Angeles and I make two immediate stops when I come into town; Faidley's and Bagels And... (If they're open). When I come into town with guests, I take them here, and they love it too! The bagels are great and so are the sandwiches, though I do wish they would bring back the pâté I understand it's not a hot ticket item... Hell I even digged the Maryland sass from the servers. It was always a compliment between sweet, and get the hell outta here. However, I'm back filming a movie in town, and the past few times I've been in the store... to say the service has been bad would be a grossly misleading understatement. I've had to send back bagels more than once on the simplest of orders and have order just made flat out incorrectly. Maybe it's because the kids working the front were texting the entire time, or they just didn't give a shit, I don't know. What ever it was it's happened over and over again. Why do I keep coming back? Valid question. I'm a creature of habit and like I said, I've been coming here for 20 years. Today it ends, as do the recommendations and what could have been years more of business. Why? So I'm out to run a few errands and I called in for a whitefish salad bagel. That was it. The gal on her phone says she can't take an order for one bagel on the phone - mind you she just did. I told her I didn't understand that, and she sort of laughed it off and said it's a silly rule but next time just be mindful. Fair enough. Copy all. I told her I'm in a rush and didn't want to have to wait; just grab and go. Not a problem, or so I thought. When I arrived I asked for the pick up order, no gal in sight, only two affected guys who hand me a massive bag of bagels. Not my order. I had the whitefish. Oh... that was the one so and so was talking about. They look at each other and laugh. And just stare at me. For a while. I felt like I was in a Sergio Leone shootout it was so long. So it's not ready? But she took the order. Yeah but we're not allowed to take them over the phone. Again I don't get it, but I'm more confused why she took the order, knew I was coming in in a few minutes and made it seem as if it were taken, only for me to arrive and no bagel. I say this to these two doe-eyed kids and they only stare back at me blinking like I'm speaking Pig Latin, or Yiddish, which granted, they should know because they work in a bagel store, but I digress. Then, Flock of Seagulls we'll call him, breaks the silence and pipes up, so... can I take your order? The only response I could muster out of my disbelief was, "You already did." Blank stares. I'm sure there's some reason for the not taking a single sandwich order over he phone rule that I'm not smart enough to understand. Common sense would dictate you probably shouldn't take large orders over the phone since you'd want to make sure they'll actually come in, or you can ring them up before you waste 12 bagels, but what they hell do I know? I don't know what you guys have to do to change the service at this place but do it and do it fast. If not, Navel Bagels! read more

My mother and I went to get bagels this morning. When we arrived, we placed our masks on and went to open the front door. As we went to walk in, acknowledging the gentleman in front of us on the "X" he was standing on, we stood back (6 feet) until he moved to the next "X". So we stood in-between the 2 doors, which had an "X" as well. We immediately see the manager quickly approaching us from the counter. In a very rude manor he told us to get outside and we had to wait for someone to leave before we could enter into the door way where the first "X" was. We then waited patiently and quietly until someone left, then my mother entered to the first "X". He then came running back to us almost yelling at us to get outside, and that he had already told us once to obey the rules. I then said, we were obeying, someone just left, so my mother moved up. He then rudely told us to get back outside. At this time there were 3 "X"s empty. When he returned to the counter he then said in a very loud voice, we could hear him all the way at the door, "Damn Women" to a customer that was waiting for his order! We then decided to leave. Another customer walked out as we were leaving and said she'd never return by the way she treated his customers. I would like to say, I am 100% on board with following all public places rules during COVID, but when you treat your customers horribly like this and EMBARRASS them in front of the whole store, that is NOT acceptable and we will not tolerate treatment like this when we ALL are having to follow rules and losing jobs. I'm so sorry I had to write this review, since I have been coming here for 15 years, but it made me so upset being treated like this I couldn't not warn others about what you may experience here. This place is a little hole-in-the-wall located in a down-in-the-mouth strip center near the intersection of RT 2 and West St. Prime location. It has a decent assortment of bagels and they do lots of sandwiches and other bagel-y things. In fact, long ago, I came in here for a sandwich and it was pretty tasty. In more recent times, I've just come in for bagels to go. I guess the trick to getting good, fresh bagels is to come in early, early in the morning. By the time I got there at 10:00am the bagels were already getting hard. Or maybe, they're made that way. The bagels are decent - better than the fluffy monstrocites found in the local grocery stores. I probably would still get some bagels to go on occassion but i found some unbelievably good frozen bagels from the Bronx at Wholefoods Annapolis. (Look in the bread section in frozen foods.) I get better bagels there and don't get the side of snippy attitude that usually comes with an order at Bagels and .....i guess I know now what the "and" refers to. read more

If you want a decent bagel in an unwelcoming, kinda dirty atmosphere then this is your place. The quirky bagel mural was cute but that's about where the charm ended for me. Signs about how their customers always ask dumb questions, "God knows if you don't tip" and arbitrary rules make up the decor. The staff seemed bored to be there and were not friendly at all. The rich part was having to listen to them go on and on about a rude customer while we waited for our order. When our order was up, the lady practically shoved the bag at my boyfriend as she grumbled, "have a nice day." Then when we got to the car we discovered they'd messed up our order. A thick slab of cream cheese coated my boyfriend's bagel which he ordered by saying, "lox only, no cream cheese." read more

Not bad for a place to grab a quick bite while waiting for nearby stores to open. It reminded me of a somewhat nicer industrial eatery. They had a large line and kept it moving, with the only wait for the food itself. Even then, they were pretty quick (a few minutes) getting it to each person and were good at remembering who had what. The food itself was pretty decent. Bagels were a bit crisp on the outside, but nice and chewy on the inside. The meat and cheese on ours was tasty and I enjoyed mine. Customer service wasn't bad; they were just more interested in keeping the line going than being overly nice, which isn't a problem with me. So, I rate this place as A-OK for now. Food was decent, customer service was acceptable, and the environment wasn't too bad. Will probably check them out again in the future. read more

My boyfriend and I came here often when he lived in Annapolis but he moved to Bowie so we come here less often. When we're in the area early in the morning, we must stop here. Their bagels are sooooooo good. I'm honestly not a bagel person but they have really good bagel sandwiches. They have something for everyone. So many bagel choices and sandwich combinations. I love the Northerner (which is bacon, egg, cheese, green peppers and onions) and the McNosh (ham, cheese, and egg) on a six grain bagel. My only complaint is when they cut the sandwich in half, it gets pretty sloppy to eat but I just ask them not to cut it. The staff is pretty nice. We haven't had bad service at all. I feel like maybe if you're rude to them, they may be rude to you so I'm always polite and I get great service. So if you're ever in Annapolis, come get your bagel fix here. read more

Great food. Nostalgic. Only complaint: They need to take the locks off their bathrooms. You have to ask for the key, which someone behind the counter gives you (touches), then you take it in the bathroom with you. I don't want anyone touching my food, handing me that key. I'm from Maryland, but have lived in New York for many years. I was SO pleased that my boyfriend brought me here. They have excellent bagels! I don't say that lightly as I've been spoiled by Brooklyn. My personal favorite is - wait for it - The New Yorker. LOX: try it, kids. Delicious on an Everything bagel, toasted with scallion (plain, or any savory other) cream cheese. Lovely folks working there, too. Kinda busy (in Maryland terms) on the weekend mornings/afternoons, but worth it if you live in the area. Not sure I've ever had a good bagel in Maryland until I found this place. Enjoy. read more

My mind is blown that this place only has a 3 star average right now! These are by far the best bagels i've ever had anywhere in and around Maryland. Super fresh, very reasonably priced, and great varieties that are hard to find elsewhere (marbled/seeded rye, spinach, black forest). Anytime i'm in Annapolis i HAVE to stop here to grab a few. They have awesome sandwiches and will do almost anything custom you can think of. My favorite order is the New Yorker (bagel, cream cheese, smoked salmon, sprouts, tomatoes, topped with a single olive) add capers. It's an amazing deal at less than $8. Everyone here has always been really friendly to me. I think the bad service people have gotten here must have been in response to a bad attitude that they gave the staff to begin with. First time going here today and will never go back. Being treated rudely by the owner and his employees is NOT how I want to spend a Sunday morning. I asked the girl how the chicken salad was and she said it's just ok. She said they don't put any seasoning in it because of food allergies so it's bland. What??? I guess it's a love or hate relationship with this place. Friends were coming in town and I wanted bagels for breakfast for them. Not really a fan of Navy Bagel though convinent, so I stopped in and got a dozen at Bagles And. It was a take out purchase so I really can't attest to the serice, but I ate the jalapeno bagel on the ride home and it was best I have had in town. Chewey toothsome woderfulness. read more

Maybe it's because I'm not a huge bagel person, but this place is just 'ok'. My boyfriend, however, absolutely adores is here and thinks it's the cream-of-the-crop of bagel joints.That said, he grew up in the area and I'm sure it's a source of nostalgia for him. The interior I don't typically care for; it's small, bland, and the furniture looks and feels cheap. It's in a strip mall, though, so I can't ask for too much. The food is...bagels. Heheh! No really, each time I've gone, I've just gotten your run-of-the-mill plain bagel with cream cheese. They're good, but it's not some magical experience. The staff, however, is very nice. My mom and I ate here on Saturday before Third Eye Comics opened for Free Comic Book Day. I assume this place was packed more than usual because of the hundred or so comic fans lined up a few stores down. While I realize some locals weren't happy that a ton of nerds were crowding their bagel shop, no one was rude and frankly that's great for any business. I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese, mom got a pumpernickel and rye bagel. With our drinks the total was $9. That's comparable to other bagel shops I visit in Baltimore, so I'm not complaining. The older gentleman (who I assume is the owner) who helped up was prompt and friendly. The food came out fast. Our bagels were nothing to sneeze at! My bagel and cream cheese hit the spot. In fact I couldn't finish it. However it was seriously delicious. Mom finished her whole bagel and enjoyed hers as well. The bagels and bialys are terrific--certainly better than anything I can get in my hometown of Pittsburgh, at least since Bageland in Squirrel Hill closed a few years ago. The breakfasts (eggs and such) and sandwiches are fine too. The most notable element of the restaurant for me, though, is the collection of signs that cover the walls. This is one place where the customer is decidedly *not* always right. Imagine if the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld's attitude toward customers were to be captured in writing. That's what you see on the walls at Bagels And. I stop there whenever I am in Annapolis, as I was this morning. I ordered a six-grain with cream cheese and wanted to get a half dozen to take home. There is a sign on the wall menu saying that bialys are .25 extra, and I recalled how much I like bialys, so I said, "Oh, and a half dozen bialys too." The woman who waited on me said, sternly: "Now, you're aware that the bialys are .25 extra, right?" I guess she just wanted to be sure there were no misunderstandings; wanted to get that out of the way before the transaction was entered into the cash register. Or something... Signs on the walls concern: cell phone usage (not allowed at all in the establishment--that's right, you have to refrain from cell phone usage not just when you are ordering, but at all times); the eating of food in the seating area that was not purchased on the premises (not allowed); the heat of the coffee and tea, with the implication that if you spill it on yourself, that is your problem, not theirs; use of the bathroom (customers only, ask for key, no exceptions), and seating in the seating area (not allowed 15 minutes before closing; from that time henceforth, take-out orders only). This is a place whose signature product is so good, and so much better than the competition, that it provides its owners license to completely ignore all traditional conventions of customer service. If you want to eat these bagels and bialys, you play by their rules. Period. I'll be back. read more

Why you gotta hate on this place people?? Yeah, the staff is cranky. Yeah, they serve coffee in Styrofoam. And no this does not amount to a New York bagel shop. But they are consistently the best bagel shop in Annapolis. Beats the hell out of Naval Bagels any day. Maybe some of you had a bad experience? My suggestion? Try the Owner's Delight. Honestly.......probably the best bagels I have ever had (and I LOVE my bagels). I ordered the bakers Dozen and so far have had the Spinach and the Bialy. WOW! Really really really fresh and so tasty. Even though I live 45minutes away........I will always buy my bagels here! Staff incredibly efficient, pleasant and helpful. Store is extremely well Covid prepared......hand sanitizer for customers before and after they reach the counter and plexiglass wall between staff and customers. Thank you for being one of the only Annapolis breakfast places open EVERYDAY of the year! We were having a hard time finding breakfast on Christmas day. Even some of the national chains were closed! No issues with customer service - we put in our orders efficiently and received the delicious bagels. I don't expect cheeriness / smiles etc. in the morning, especially if I'm not feeling it myself. I love that Bagels And... makes their own bagels and cream cheeses. As we were sitting there enjoying our bagels, we noticed some regulars going in and out of the shop. Honestly? The strangest and most shocking encounter we've ever had. My husband and I stopped by today at about 1:30 because we heard the bagels were really great. We placed our order and paid but left without our food because the woman working yelled at me because I walked on her floor that she had just mopped. Love the bagels. Great assortment, taste, sandwiches, all good. I've been there numerous times, but will not return after I was rushed out by the owner while enjoying breakfast with my lady. As soon as we finished, he pretty much asked us to leave in a very passive aggressive, yet obvious manner. Reminded us that it was Sunday at the bagel shop and people were waiting. I had barely finished chewing! He pressured two elderly ladies waiting for their granddaughter to buy something or give up the table. I understand the concept of a short order place and keeping the flow going, but seriously? The food is good enough that a lack of seating won't deter people from stopping in. Bagels are a pretty versatile meal that doesn't commit you to being confined to one spot. If you're in a rush and you get your bagel to go, then it's solid. Really yummy! The staff was friendly and the food came out quickly. I got the New Yorker with onions on an everything bagel. Next time I'll ask for it open faced bc it was so big! But delicious with the perfect amount of everything. Probably could have used a bit more lox. Really good place! read more
