I saw this place as my friend and I drove by; we're new to the neighborhood. We walked over and were excited to have lunch at a new spot that we could patronize in the future. We were roundly ignored for about 15 minutes. Finally, we went to a different register thinking we just weren't being seen. We were still ignored. Finally we asked what we needed to do to order and a guy snapped "Can't you see we're busy?!!" Honestly, no. It did not look busy at all. Stopped by Bagels & Cream for a quick bite during lunch hour and grabbed a lox cream cheese bagel. While the bagel itself was decent and the location is super convenient -- especially if you're around the hospital -- I did notice some ingredients that didn't seem all that fresh. That said, if you're in a rush or just need something quick nearby, it gets the job done. Friendly enough service and good variety, but definitely not the freshest bagel experience I've had in the city. I was staying within walking distance and decided to stop in for lunch. The menu had so many great options, but I went with the turkey and cheese panini with avocado and a French vanilla latte and both were delicious! The staff was super friendly and welcoming. It's very hot in this establishment. No AC. A fly was in the seating area. Prices are okay. Update: I wasn't aware that they substitute the bacon, so I got turkey bacon instead. I just assumed it was pork bacon. It would have been nice if i knew this. While I wish the bagel was crunchy , I'll know for next time to ask for the stuff on the side to keep my bagel crunchy. Randomly decided to order from this space for delivery on a day off. We actually got turkey bacon which was great! The Bagel with Flavored Cream Cheese was good. The cream cheese wasn't too garlicy. We ordered Traditional French Toast. That looked amazing and tasted good. An Acai Peanut Butter bowl was also ordered. It seemed small but it was filling and satisfying. The Pancakes were a little small and unfortunately the hash browns were forgotten. To end off there was a Turkey Bacon Egg and Cheese. A very picky friend was satisfied. I came in a rush after a doctor's appointment looking for anything other than McDonald's. The floor was filthy and some lights were turned off so the place looked almost abandoned. Total disclosure: I ordered delivery and the order took 2 hours to arrive. The food was cold by that time but I chucked everything in the microwave to heat it back up. We ordered the classic French toast and the avocado omelet combo which includes a choice of bread/roll/bagel etc and a beverage (I chose a roll and a ginger ale). The French toast was fine, except that they only provided one tiny container of syrup. (It's a good thing that we had maple syrup and agave on hand.) The avocado for the omelet was black on the inside although it looked greenish on the outside (see picture). The avocado was just plopped on top so I didnt have to eat it which was probably a God-send. The omelet also consisted of sliced tomatoes, American cheese and the turkey bacon that I added for $0.75 extra. I finished most of it since we had waited so long for it to arrive. Although this place had some of the best reviews in the area for delivery it was a disappointing experience. To top it off, my bowels were a bit sensitive after the omelet. I enjoy bagels, but I don't have them often because it's hard for me to justify all the carbs. When I do indulge, I always go to Empire Bagels in Pelham Bay since it's my opinion they have some of the best bagels in NYC. However, I'm an open minded person and will always give a new business a chance. I've been monitoring Bagels and Cream for a while, and when I noticed they finally opened for business I decided to stop here for breakfast. Bagels and Cream sits in the former site of Starbucks. A larger, more functional Starbucks with a drive-thru opened down the block and eventually this one closed. Walking into B&C, it doesn't look like much changed - they got rid of the bux aesthetics and replaced it with a mostly contemporary design with a metallic color scheme and clean lines. While they of course serve bagels with a variety of cream cheeses, I also noticed their menu had a number of sandwiches and lunch-style food offerings. It also looks like they're expanding the menu which will definitely help them being in a neighborhood with multiple hospitals and medical facilities. I just wanted a bagel though - so I went with a toasted sesame one and decided to try their garlic and herb cream cheese. The bagel was pretty good; not the best I've had but way better than ones I've had in Westchester or upstate. The garlic and herb cream cheese had flavor but was a little too salty for my taste; I appreciate the creativity but it needs to be fine-tuned. The service was great - everyone was really friendly and service was prompt. This is a family-run business so hopefully this remains consistent. Overall, Bagels and Cream is off to a good start. They have stiff competition from neighboring businesses, but if they keep it up I'm sure they'll get a loyal following. While I've had better bagels, the friendly service, an expanding menu, and a welcoming atmosphere all combine to a place I would return to. read more

So while I like their bagels and their food. but what rubbed me the wrong way was I paid with cash just now and my total was $14.03 for a half dozen and a half pound of scallion cream cheese. I paid cash in order to avoid the 4% credit card surcharge but then the guy just handed me my change without coins. I gave him a 20 and he hands me five back when clearly I was owed more around six dollars (5.90 something) I didn't say anything because I was just a little confused but that rubs me really the wrong way. he also didn't hand me a receipt. probably because he knows what he did. My order was the avocado toast with everything and eggs. (Turkey bacon on top) I got hazelnut iced coffee with skim milk. The hazelnut was good could of put a pump more. My boyfriend got a Pastrami Salmon bowl. His was so good super healthy. The bowel is smoked salmon with pastrami flavor different and interesting. There is a lot of room to dine in. They offer fresh bagels and I was okay that's what I'll get. However when I walked in I noticed all the menu options and somehow my bagel turned into a turkey bacon BLT. That cost me $7 that was pricey in my opinion but it sure did have enough bacon in that sandwich. The staff was friendly I could of gotten my BLT on a bagel but opted out. We had quick bite with everything bagel with vegetable cream cheese and small coffee. Bagel was tasty. Inside this place is spacious and looked very clean and organized. Also they have a huge menu! Wonderful, new locally-owned bagel shop in the Bronx. Great service and even better freshly baked bagels. I've had almost every flavor and they're all so good. I love the French Toast bagel, and the plain is NYC bagel perfection. You've gotta try the bacon and cheddar cream cheese, so good! Their lox and pastrami lox are super fresh and makes the perfect bagel & lox sandwich, you gotta try it. And to top it off they have Lavazza espresso drinks. Cute place! It's a gem in the rough. I see they have an extensive menu, but my sole purpose was to acquire some lox, which I 10/10 recommend. It was so fresh; fresher than some places in Manhattan.
