Exactly six months later and the samoon is still amazing! When we walked in today, they had just taken some out of the oven, and it was still warm. Plus, it's cheaper! We paid $2.40 for four loaves today; in April we paid $3 for four. Fantastic little bakery! read more

I have read the yelp reviews and have had a similar experience as most of you have with Baghdad Bakery. The Samoon (I just found out today the actual name of the bread I've been buying for a year and a half now) is outstanding! Always fresh and delicious. Their hummus is out of this world and I'm not even a hummus fan! The short(er) woman that is there most of the time (Sorry, I forgot your name) is very sweet and despite the language barrier, is helpful and seems to know what I'm looking for. I'm not bothered she doesn't speak English very well. My family came from Italy a few generations ago and it took them some time to learn the language. I applaud here for speaking any (my Arabic is non-existent) English! Have you ever tried to learn another language as an adult? It's very difficult. Anyway, also try the peanut snack they have to the left of the cash register. It's very tasty and unique! read more

No offense but these people giving positive reviews probably have no clue. I visited this place with anticipation and bought baklava...something told me it won't be good but I still wanted to try it. The person at the desk told me to take my pick from the refrigerator: I went ahead and picked a couple. The baklavas were not covered in a container - it was completely exposed inside the refrigerator: that should have told me that I would be eating refrigerant tasting baklava... and boy I was right. I paid for it and took it out and started eating it: it was disgusting. I had to dump them. The store also didn't have much stuff in there. I think you would find more items at a store in the present war torn Iraq. I would recommend the owners to step their game up. We have Jerusalem market and Nazareth bread here in Greensboro both of which are much better, especially Nazareth bread. read more

Just want to affirm what's already been stated in the prior reviews that the bread here is absolutely AMAZING! You're not going to find bread of this quality in Panera's. Oh no, this is the real deal! Another thing too is that this bread can maintain its freshness for a number of days. This place is worth your time, 10/10, it'll change your mind about bread. Old world-style bakeries are hard to come by, and amongst the few out there, this place is a gem. It has an authentic tonir, or tandoori, oven and the owners know how to use it. The lavash, naan and small loaves that this place bakes are unbelievable! Cary has a special treat here. How wonderful to have this bread oven where the bread is baked by hand! The samoon bread is delicious. It's great for sandwiches or dipping. It's on the order of a pita but with more filling. It's also similar to an old-fashioned Italian bread that I don't think you can get in the US anymore called pizza bread (nothing to do with pizza as we know it). Friendly owners as well. read more

Baghdad bakery is our go to place for some excellent khubiz bread. Its decently priced and will feed our family of 4 for weeks. As mentioned in other reviews, there is a slight communication problem but the bread is absolutley worth it. read more

Our family has just recently found this new bakery. Samoon bread is outstanding. We had not had this type of bread before and it is wonderful. So fresh yet seems to last 3-4 days and still is great. I have bought loaves of this for many of our friends and family and they too love this unique bread. I know this is common bread in Iraq but not in the US. So very, very, very good. Very good bread at a reasonable price. The Samoon diamond shaped breads are very similar to Turkish breads I have had in some good NY restaurants. You can eat them with your favorite meat dishes or some olive oil, or even great alone. They also carry these at other Middle Eastern groceries such as Almadina, near the NC State campus. read more
